She had never been to a fair before. But her childhood had been filled with plenty of ghosts. "Hmm... would there be any harm in torching this place down? After all, if it's just a bunch of ghosts, a bit of fire won't hurt anyone--right?"

She felt a strange sense of dread in her. She didn't know what it was but she assumed it was the dread thing her guardian talked about.

"Then perhaps the slakoth was lying then," Mademoiselle posited. "If these other roles show a clear effect on those who interact with them, such as the Strings, the mightyena's dread, and whatever is on the delcatty's chest, then why should this one be any different?"

"Perhaps," Courtney mused as she circled the Slakoth, flames dancing around her mouth. "Even if he's not lying, he's certainly not telling us the whole truth."

The perpetrator outs themself and explains what the mark does giving us valuable information; or, do they keep themselves safe by not speaking up--which would paint a target on their back, thus removing us of a potent ability?"

Mademoiselle leaned over the delcatty to give herself a closer look at the mark. "I am saying to not be surprised if no one speaks up about it today, as there are many reasons as to why no one will take responsibility."

"Yeah, I think you pretty much hit the nail on the head." Nanu clarified for Laura's guardian Jackie. Before turning to Courtney the Ninetales threatening Sans the Slakoth with a disapproving frown.

"Perhaps," Courtney mused as she circled the Slakoth, flames dancing around her mouth. "Even if he's not lying, he's certainly not telling us the whole truth."

"Woah Courtney was it? How about we hold off from attacking each other till we give Sans here a chance to speak, okay? Because it's not like he had much time to explain his powers before we reached the deadline for D1." Nanu pointed out, while giving Sans @Bluwiikoon his own wary expression.

Since he was still on the fence as to whether or not Sans whole "voting power" could be trusted. As they didn't know which target he struck now that Arctozolt [Bench] confirmed that they weren't the recipients of San's power.

"Fair," Courtney said with a shrug. "If it's a beneficial ability, whoever placed it may be laying low, if they have a particularly strong power and don't want to be targeted by scum. I think, unless the one who knows what this does speaks up, we've said all there is to say about it for the time being."

Mademoiselle shook her head. "Isn't it a bit foolish to assume that the delcatty got the power meant for the abomination? There are many other alternative, and more likely explanations to this. Honing in on just this one is shortsighted at best."

Odette cringed at the sound of the fair they were now trapped within. Gods, she wasn't prepared to deal with the general public--illusion or not--today. Especially not in the body she was currently in.

She wished she had Solene here. Surely she could put her abilities to good use and lessen the noise. Or block out Odette ears (what was left of them anyway). Psychic-type moves could definitely be that multi-faceted.

But, again, her mind was wandering. She peered back over her shoulder at the petrified Rotom and shuddered to herself, thinking longingly about the RotomPhone she'd left back at home, and how pissed she'd be if she found out somebody had petrified it. No Rotom deserved that. No...no Pokemon deserved that. Better yet, nobody in general deserved it. Except Dorien and her dad. They could fuck right off.

Thinking about that lit some sort of fire under her...tendrils? Sure. She'd figured out one big case before, she would do it again.

"Do we think it's possible that scum could have a role swapper that purposely moved the targeted ability from...that thing, to the Delcatty, so we might toss extra suspicion at the Slakoth? The Yveltal already sort of did it to start, and being that there was a general consensus of iffyness around the claim, that could have been the route scum went," she said.

She paused for a long moment and ran her slimy hand over her...mane structure. Gods, where were her braids when she needed something to fiddle with? "I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around a day moving role-swapper, but...this game is apparently supposed to be really, really crazy, so who knows? I would prefer to hear some words from the Slakoth before delving much further into this thought."

Maybe to protect Chibi because it's Chibi??? But that also seems dangerous because we DIDN'T know what the move did because Bluwii damn well could have been lying??? BUT that diamond shit could be completely and totally unrelated, which is why I want to hear from Bluwii about it before I run down this rabbit hole lolololol]]

Odette sighed deeply. "My stupid guardian is--as usual--speaking in Kantonese."

Dave emerged into the fair, blinking blearily at the fairground lights. "What the fuck," he muttered.

"Okay, so. Yes, I targeted the Froslass, like I said I would yesterday. I don't know how 'Okay, the dread thing works. I've got dread on me rn' could be interpreted other than it did go through."

He squinted at the Delcatty, then the Slakoth. "Well, what he said yesterday was the recipient of the vote power thing wouldn't know anything about it, so I definitely took it they wouldn't get a glowing fucking diamond on their chest. That's besides the whole redirecting daytime actions thing. So unless he's got something to say that makes that sound even remotely likely, I'm guessing this was somebody else. Fucking everybody has a bunch of powers in this thing; why wouldn't there be another person who can put diamonds on people? We just plain don't have the information right now to guess what's up with it, but at any rate it doesn't look harmful, so I think we're fine to ignore it for now. Person who did it probably shouldn't speak up about it."

Laura woke with a start, chest tight with anxiety. The game was murkier than before, and it felt like the middle of the night despite everyone else merrily discussing the powers at play as if it were mid-evening at the latest...

"I'm gonna check over my notes and get some rest," she muttered. "My guardian is quiet right now. I can hardly tell what's going on but I swear to gods I'll follow up on this just as soon as I get some sleep..."

She drifted off into uneasy rest, trying to count wooloo, but only able to think of that silicon-and-plastic corpse, and whether hers would be next.
