Hey there! OurHomeIsHope is a mouthful, so you're free to call me whatever you'd like!

I've been a fan of Pokemon for my whole life, and I've been following fanfictions for a few years now. As of writing this, I'm pretty pumped up just because of the fact that I've already seen multiple authors whose stories played a part in sparking my ambition in the first place!

As of now, I'm working on my first story, and my most recent chapter makes me feel pretty optimistic about its direction! Pokemon Mystery Dungeon has always been my favorite collection of games; while my story isn't about PMD, I definitely see myself making one in the foreseeable future!

But enough about me, let's get real for a second. One of two things happens to most fanfiction authors: They either break down mentally or quit their stories entirely, and both are a pretty sad sight. OurHomeIsHope isn't just a name, it's a mission statement; hope is all we need in life! Pull up a chair, cause we're cranking the vibes up to eleven till we drop! We've got nothing but smooth sailing and good times for miles!

Hello! I'm StrixUmbra (or Strix for short), and... uhh... I don't introduce myself much, evidently.
I'm currently working on an original story, but I have a number of PMD or PMD-esque fics that I'd love to get out into the world! My main priority is called PMD: Students of Moonlight, and, among other things, it's about a human-turned Vulpix, a Torchic raised in secrecy, the Lunala stuck in the Vulpix's mind, the Flygon who knows all three of them in rather significant ways, a school for adventurers-to-be... I'm trying not to set my expectations too high, given my track record with finishing stories, but I can't help but be at least a bit excited for what it could be, in the most optimistic timeline!
As for what I like when I read, I tend to gravitate towards PMD or PMD-type stories, but I'll read anything if it looks good enough! I've noticed a lot of really good-looking fics here that I'm sooooo excited to read. I like reading about angst, found family, good guys being good, bad guys turning good, bad guys being incredibly dangerous while they turn good, and anything with LGBT themes is a huge plus in my book, of course!
Outside of writing, I like owls, most other animals, RPGs (both the tabletop and video game kind!), theater, ghosts, dragons, other legendary creatures, mythology, 80's music, and of course, Pokemon. I love Nuzlockes, too, but I've only ever finished one Nuzlocke of Y (which I actually beat this month! I'm still kind of reeling over it). My favourite Pokemon is Decidueye, because it's literally a ghost owl. What's not to love?
In general, I'm just very excited to be a part of this community! I have a bit of social anxiety (and I've never been part of a forum before!) so I might not be as active as I'd like, but I'll try my best!

Hey, Kimochiru here, I just joined. In this age of social media communities, I really miss the style of forums and being able to have concentrated discussions with people. I've also been a long-time fanfiction reader and writer, though for other fandoms. My Pokemon fic interests are usually Pokemon POV, so oftentimes stuff set in a PMD world. I haven't written much Pokemon fic since I was a child, but currently I'm interested in writing a PMD roleplay/interactive story for these characters I made for a now-defunct roleplay group.

I really appreciate the fandom-activity focus of this forum website. Writing, fanart, community group events.... they're how Pokemon has remained a key part of many of our lives. Glad to be here, and see you around.

Also, I don't know if the RP group you're referring to was PMD-E, but if so, you might enjoy Fight and Flight, which is another member's story based on that RP (swellow POV). Sounds like something a bit different than what you might be going for, though, if you're talking about interactive elements. Intriguing.

Thanks! I know of PMDE, but I never actually partook in it. I did PMDU though. Right now, it's kind of a pre-renaissance in these PMD roleplay group, so I was referring to one of the many modern ones that are run on Discord. They are very fun! These days, you can find them on toyhou.se.

I'm definitely going check that fic out though, gotta give my fellow ARPG RPers some love.

That's pretty cool! I didn't actually realize toyhou.se had any sort of roleplay associated with it, but it makes sense with the OC focus of the site. There will always be RP... it's fun to see how it evolves and adapts as new platforms become available.

Hey, thought I'd introduce myself here. I used to frequent the Serebii forums back in the day, particularly the fan-fiction section, although I eventually moved away from it a good few years ago. Returning to the site now, it seems like it's a shadow of its former self and not at all active, which is a shame to see - it used to be a nice little community there. I'm curious to know if it was just a natural decline or if something specific happened there to cause people to leave or something else?

Having said that, it's really nice to see that places like this are still active and that there are still some familiar usernames around that I recognise. Thanks to Negrek and everyone else for keeping these little fan communities alive! Hoping I'll be able to get involved in some form or another here, either posting material or reviewing or both - I'm kind of gutted that I missed 2024's contest, as I really love writing slice-of-life stuff, but maybe this year's theme will be a good one, if there'll be another one.

Welcome to the forums! It's always nice to see someone from Serebii knocking around. Unfortunately there was some nasty drama back in ~2018 that ultimately led to most people moving on. I'm glad that a fair number are still knocking around here, though! Hope you're able to stick around and enjoy the community, too. We will for sure be having another writing contest this year; look out for a poll to decide this year's theme in May and then the actual writing period to occur in June. Whether you end up posting your own fic, commenting on other people's, or just hanging out and reading, I hope you enjoy your time here!

I’m matt0044 or just Matt. I’m largely here because my fanfiction wasn’t getting feedback on either Serebii or Bulbagarden. And FFnet’s been infested with scam artists that try to wheel and deal you for art of your fic. They claim to be inspired but they can’t be bothered to give actual concrete critique that does sound like they’re trying to flatter you.

Sorry… I had to get it off my chest.

Point is that I’m willing to take what I can get. Even harsh criticism. If I can be featured on some Bad Fic Theater or some roasting, good. That means my story was able to light a spark in you. A spark strong enough for you to speak.

Even Death Threats(TM) would be a welcome sight. I am not ashamed to admit I want attention.

As to my stories?

One is an adaptation of Pokémon Black & White. It’s something where I have a general plan based on the games but one where I will take my time with various side quests that build upon my ideas for the Pokémon world. In particular how Team Plasma got a foothold in the public and what it means to be a Trainer.

The story focuses on Hilda who shares N’s power to talk to Pokémon. This is so I can have the central characters be one human and her growing team of Pokémon who she can communicate with rather than three humans with multiple Pokémon to keep track of.

By proxy, our audience surrogate will be Oshawott, a bullied sort learning to trust himself if at all with the simple help of a friend. A Pokémon perspective would help us maybe criticize human society as I see it.

One thing I want to do is not rush myself to any endgames. The story will be divided into several installments. “Chapters” as I call them. They will serve self contained stories that will connect and build on each other. Somewhat similar to Classic Doctor Who with each adventure being a serial spread across several chapters.

Though it will largely be fairly low stakes adventures with a mix of escapades and slice of life moments to make sure we can all have brevity in the pacing.

Despite his best efforts, Oshawott felt pins and needles all over when he stepped forward from Professor Aurea Juniper and onto the battlefield. It was the end of a busy Saturday afternoon for the Juniper Research Laboratory when time was found for a last minute match to go over a few basics. Ever since the Sea Otter Pokemon learned a rookie Trainer had selected him as their starter Pokemon, anxious didn't begin to describe his state of mind. Oshawott's body trembled in a deadly emotional cocktail of anticipation and fear. The sight of Snivy didn't help.*

*On the other side, a sharp-eyed Snivy stepped up on the other side of the indoor battlefield while taking in the sunlight through the clear roof above. She folded her eyes and shot a haughty look of disapproval towards Oshawott. She scoffed when she saw the cringe-worthy stern expression he was putting on. \[Who do you believe your trying to con, Water Boy?\] the Grass Snake Pokemon asked rhetorically, loathing such a display of posturing. She felt it her duty to remind him of his place.*

*\[Slice her to ribbon, buddy!\] Tepig oinked for his best friend from the sidelines, hopping about with energy to spare. His snout exhales steam like a engine bursting a safety value or two. He put on a determined expression like Oshawott's but could see that his friend's confident front was wavering and felt guilty for it. Even if he kept Snivy from hurting physically, her sharp tongue dealt enough damage with her insults alone.
