heya, I'm Nero. I joined the server a couple days ago and figured I'd try posting on the forums as well

I'm both an artist and an aspiring writer, I have a variety of interests but most relevant at this moment are my affinity for monster media and anything with cool creatures (kaiju movies, Digimon, and of course Pokemon). I sort of became a Pokemon fan when I first laid sights on the anime circa 2005, but I only really became engaged with the series when I saw Blue Rescue Team on store shelves a year or so later and fell in love with it. to this day, PMD is still what truly keeps me anchored to this franchise, especially after gen 8 soured me on the main series (though my opinion on it has somewhat improved after SV)

so of course, most of my Pokemon stuff has been PMD related. I made a PMD sprite comic when I was a kid that ran from 2011 to 2018 or so that I ended up discontinuing due to the foundation set by younger me not being fun to work with anymore. I wasn't planning to come back to PMD stories, but after having a conversation with my close friend circle about PMD comics, I got the motivation to start anew and spent like half a year plotting and designing characters for my current story, PMD: Nightfall, a webcomic/fanfiction hybrid which aims to be both a deconstruction of PMD stories while also serving as "what if PMD continued in gen 7?"

I figured I'd try my hand at interacting with the community more, since I haven't really done that for all these years besides a few discord servers related to Skytemple. kind of awkward since I haven't used a forum in like 10 years, but I'll manage

Welcome to the forums! There aren't a lot of fics out there that combine elements of both comics and written stories, so it sounds like you've got a really cool project going on. I'm also always here for a good deconstruction. I'll definitely keep an eye out for when you start posting pages (chapters?).

Intro Thread​

Welcome to Thousand Roads! Or welcome back, if you've been away for a while. Feel free to introduce yourself here, let us know what you've been up to if you're returning, or give someone a welcome.

I'll start things off with a little introduction of my own. I'm Negrek, and I've been writing pokémon fanfic for over fifteen years now. Mostly I write long, rambling darkfic about original characters. Original characters are my jam in both reading and writing, although I've also loved the occasional canon-character work. Currently I'm writing a very long story about an idiot pokémorph and all the trouble they cause with their grandiose plans.

When I'm not writing I'm often programming, which is how I came by the main site that I recently decided to add a forum to. The golden age of pokémon fansites is long gone, which makes me sad, really, and if you're ever in the mood to talk code instead of words, I'm more than down for it. It's hard for me to balance time spent on my web site against all the other things I enjoy, but I hope that having my fanfic activities more closely entwined with it will give me an excuse to update it a bit more often.

What else? I love animals, travel, games, and the color green. Wednesday is my favorite day of the week, and if I were a pokémon, my status screen might look a little something like...

Hi I'm game-boi-sp, and I've only recently gotten into writing pokemon fanfiction. I'm most interested in writing fanfic stories that are more text-based RPG games in nature, with CYOA style but choices that involve the reader/player, properties/stats you can use in game, and items you can pick up throughout the story. I collect pokemon cards - my grail is a PSA10 1st edition Dragonite Holo card that I love. Cubone is my favorite pokemon though with the sad story.
Always fun to connect with some cool pokemon fans, if anyone is interested in learning more about some new ways to supercharge some CYOA content, would love to connect!

Welcome to the forums! Interactive fanfiction is a pretty cool topic, and we do have a few people around here who write them! You've already seen Namo's CYOA, and Meridian's also running a CYOA quest in an original setting that has a more extensive set of mechanics. There are actually a fair number of people knocking around who've tried their hands at interactive fanfiction at least once. I think it's a lot of fun, myself; always happy to discuss!

Hello everyone, nice to see an active forum in this day and age; feels nostalgic.

Discovered this by pure chance thanks to looking up an old writer who's works I had enjoyed. Realized it was just the kind of thing I have been looking for. Pokemon fanfiction, especially of the PMD flavor, has always been something of a comfort for me. Even if my feeling towards the franchise as a whole have grown jaded, I still enjoy a lot of what is out there. Fanfiction is something I come back to time and time again, both to read, and on the odd occasion, write.

I used to write a few fics going back ~15 years ago that I never finished, though the urge to return and at least deliver closure has grown over the last year. Aside from that, I've taken a crack at a few shorter stories in recent years. Two I will likely post here, and one that I'm actually coming close to finishing at last. All PMD analogous, all interconnected in a way, and all just enjoying the more anthological approach I've come to love.

Aside from that, I'm just a guy who spend his days working in software, taking care of his family, and otherwise spends a lot of time trying to find purpose through creating various forms of art. Cosplay, sketches, writing, baking, I like to try all sorts.

I look forward to poking my head in and taking part here. I think this is the kind of thing I've been searching for without realizing it.

Actually, if you have any recommendations I'd very much appreciate it. I'm open to most anything, and it's been some time since I've really dived in and read a good fic. If you know something, either short or long-winded, I'm all ears.

I’ll give you some PMD fics to start off with, then, and if you have any particular preferences for genre/more specifics about what you’d like, just let me know!

On the short side, “Starfall” is a very cool PMD one-shot about what it means to be a legend, and “Pizza with a Slice of Pain” is a cute one-shot about a nontraditional human hero.

On the very much not short side, Path of Valor is a larger-than-life shonen-style fic that blends multiple game franchises, while Once a Thief follows a band of outlaws in a more classical PMD world.

I'm no professional writer but I did used to make quite a few stories, most Warriors-related but there was a scrapped PMD one I am putting aside to instead work on something new. That being a interesting little story about a team leader (who works alone as of the start of the story) who can never quite find success due to not being very strong, and how she eventually does make a legacy for herself using the skills she does have, and a lot of new teammates.
I know you're thinking that sounds a little cliche but it's not, I am definitely a trustworthy individual and you should take my word for this without question. Is that understood? Good. Now to show you the funny critters for said story that I drew in Paint within half an hour or so for each. Their names are a WIP but they are Rags (Name is WIP, they're a Zangoose and Sylveon fusion), Vile Vine (Name is WIP), Sapphire (She's a Milotic who gains secondary types based on the shells she equips to her tail, here we have the ice form), Warbird (Name is WIP, he's a Skarmory built for battle and further evolved), Scooter (He's an Archeops/Tyrantrum hybrid), Flurry (She's a weak but kind green Glaceon who carries items in her scruff), and Prism (They're a mute and crazed Mega Sableye who can activate the pictured alternate form where their entire body becomes crystals and they get a Regidrago-style arm cannon).
I am looking for someone to RP with to develop these characters a little if that's allowed here!! But if you want to know a little more about me rather? Here you go:

I got one or two stories in the oven that I intend to share with you guys in the near future (I'm sorry in advance) and will be catching up with your works in the meantime.

Welcome to the forums! That's quite a lot of OC's you have, there! I think Prism is my favorite; you can never have too many kooky sableye running around, imo. It's also really cool to see you have your own personal site--not enough of those around in this day and age!

If you'd like to RP a bit, you're welcome to do so! For one-on-one RP, feel free to make a thread in the Games and Roleplay forum describing what you're looking for and seeing if anyone's interested! People will also periodically host bigger RP games for multiple characters, so keep an eye out for those; another one may be starting up soon.

Hi, I picked a confusing, unreadable username when I was 15, and I'll be danged if I change it now. It reads, "I come anon 6," just "Anon" for short, which is my way of, as the youths put it, "embracing my cringe."

I'm here because I accidentally wrote a fic last year after telling myself I was done doing that, and the urge to put it on the internet was too much. I'm here-here more specifically because I like the idea of a pokemon-fic-specific forum site as opposed to a fanfic forum on a general Pokemon forum site like my previous haunts, and Thousand Roads looked nice.
