For the briefest of moments, there is a glimmer of hope in the eyes of Nori. It quickly fades as Lumen fails to make any headway. “And I guess I can’t power you up, either. Thank you for trying at least.” He shakes his head with a sigh, bracing himself against the tree. His head turns to glance behind him. “Stupid world. Fine, may as well take a look around this place.”
With this, he marches up to the slope and gives it a glance. Steep as it appeared, there seemed to be enough rocks around to scale it. Water was one thing, but this was no trouble. He climbed the cliffs around Route 214 all the time, and these weren’t close to those. He went up and down a slope like this today (in his world), in fact.
Pachi had followed and looked up at the slope. “Are we really going to climb that?” he asks with a measure of hesitation, taking a step back.
“Okay, Pachi, hang on tight…” Nori instructs, picking up his Pokemon and placing him on his back. It wasn’t that much extra weight. Pachi squeaks with surprise at first, but evidently trusts him enough to not fuss over it. “And if you see anything bad, jump off and get it!”
“Okay!” Pachi says, with a similar inflection to how his trainer said the word.
With a huff, Nori does some quick stretches and starts up. Slowly, one bit at a time, mainly using the rocks as footholds and testing to make sure they or the dirt weren’t going to crumble under him. Compared to the sight of the water, he’s going up the slope with confidence. He glances back for a second before getting more than a meter up. “Anyone else coming? We might be able to find a vine or something for the others, so there won’t be as much back and forth with transport.”
