Bahamut's shade approaches Joule and asks how to procure a steady source of radiance for the upcoming fight. He explains Bahamut's Brilliant Beacon and how it requires radiance from others. He wants to know who is strong enough to approach the Tree with the team and offer such power.
Joule cheerfully says that he has no idea! Perhaps someone who uses Radiance a lot! Perhaps Icetales? Cynthian? Brisa?
First, he's going to ask him about what Owen just told them - that he was there with Blacklight Mewtwo and seemed not to know what he was doing. Presumably this was when he was ostensibly working as a spy for Giovanni. Does he remember that? If so, did he get the sense back then that Blacklight Mewtwo had his own agenda? Was he aware of the parasite being planted in Owen?
Green seems hazy about it, but he does remember trying to wipe Owen's memories so he wasn't caught there before Truffle. It would have given things away. Couldn't kill him--he probably would go right back to Diyem...
Green briefly wonders why he knew Diyem was involved. This bothers him. He asks for the topic to be dropped, saying that there wasn't really anything new he had to be convinced of anyway.
Next, he'll cautiously explain Bahamut's idea of diving into his mind as well, or potentially directing him in his own mindscape. Would he be willing to try this, to repair his mind, uncover what he's forgotten, heal the damage? It'd have to be after they fight Maple, but...
Green is even more hesitant, not wanting to break his mind--if he dies, he might send all that knowledge to Prime, and then...
Then, he'll explain he went to see Yellow, and ask if Green'd be willing to come along and talk to him to persuade him they're being manipulated (but if Green is reluctant, he won't press it too hard; he is a fragile substitute, and on one level Dave worries about that glint in Yellow's eye and whether there might be a chance he'd attack Green - he might tentatively raise the possibility to Green). If he agrees, he's taking him to the Tree of Life for that, mostly hanging back but watching for any danger, listening for whether they say anything interesting.
More hesitance, but he agrees. After some talking with Poffin and officials, he's allowed to go. Yellow and Green have a heated exchange, but it's nothing Dave didn't already know. Eventually, though, Yellow seemed convinced... but still felt a weak compulsion to stay by the Tree. Green, too, remarked that he had to take care of Flesh or make sure he was being taken care of. Dave has the distinct sensation that these are lingering orders of their autonomous nature.
Either way, he asks Green if he has any final tips regarding talking to Soda Prime at Spirit's Edge.
"This is fucking risky, you know. Watch what you say. S
aying the wrong thing might make him vaporize a town."
Celeste, having surely heard about the state Deoxys is in by now, will try to see if Wish has any impact at all, even knowing it won't reverse everything. (That is, assuming Karat will allow it.) If it has a nonzero impact he'll be willing to come back whenever he gets the chance.
Deoxys, according to Karat, says that it felt nice, but there was no noticeable improvement.
Nate's surprised that there's so much mewtwo action going down in the Tree of Life, and he's also interested in these potential false positives the device has been picking up. Did those only start recently, or have they been popping up for a while? And has it only ever been one stray signal that can't be accounted for as an actual signal?
No signals that seem to correspond, to, say, S'more's office, if false positives were registering a while back?
It all seemed to be recent, and all corresponded--after grudgingly poring over and cross-referencing everyone's locations--to Owen's location. However, after the incident in the facility, the false positives stopped altogether.
Rocky wants to check in on Pop and Cola. If he's allowed, he'll contact them over his badge and ask how they're doing. Do they know when they might be able to come back?
Rocky hopes Cola isn't scared or bored. He'll offer to play one of the badge's games with Cola. Maybe some kind of shooty game, if there is one?
Cola seems to be in much better spirits, and Pop seems more relaxed in general. They still have no disclosed where they are, only that if they are needed, they would be able to return at any time. They plan to return soon now that things seem safer, but Pop is protective of Cola. Despite their rocky start, Pop and Cola seem to be much more like a father-son than before.
Cola still doesn't like reading, though.
