Neo opened his eyes, his ears twitching as he glanced side-to-side, patting his belt and frowning when he noticed the lack of pokeballs clipped onto it. He still had his pouch at least and nothing aside from his pokeballs were missing. Adjusting his hat, he scanned his surroundings, noting that there were other Pokémon around, each immersed in their own conversations. It wasn't the first time and it won't be the last that he was grateful for his enhanced hearing since he was able to keep track of the various conversations around him.

"It's because of how Obleta works!" the Servine said, thumping his tail against the ground. "Some other worlds have offworlders summoned due to some sort of crisis, but here in Obleta, there's seemingly no rhyme or reason to it, despite our best efforts to research it! Most we could figure out is that the world border is 'fuzzy'. But it's not all bad! We have airships that can traverse Ultra Space!"
"No rhyme or reason, huh? Wonder where I've heard that from," he muttered dryly. This world really wasn't that different from his, was it?
Odette stared at the electabuzz, entirely unfazed by the sparks. If anything, she was more annoyed at his assumption that this was just a standard playground spat.

“The ‘hostility’,” she repeated, putting up air-quotes around the word, “comes from the fact he tried to kill me the last time we met. So no, I will not ‘chill,’ thank you kindly.”
A killer? There was a murderer amongst them? His paw flew to his belt in an instant, but he stopped himself short. No one was making a fuss about it, was this sort of thing was normal for interdimensional travellers? Arceus, this made him glad he'd never met any fallers that were as... unique as that Houndour. But that didn't mean he could afford lowering his guard, if that Houndour did something... well... He patted the whip attached to his belt. They were going to learn that despite his size, he was not someone to be messed with.

"But of course! I just didn't want to interrupt," Vinarch said, before pulling out a piece of paper. "Let's see...yes, we just passed the nearest storehouse, but the next closest is just up ahead, in Governer Village!"
Keeping his distance from the newcomer Giratina, as was instructed when dealing with any legendary, he couldn't help the solemn smile from crossing his features as he heard the Servine's words.

Adventuring through an unknown land? Too bad, his team wasn't here, they would've loved exploring these new lands.

"So, this 'Governor Village', aside from the Artifact, does it have anything notable about it?" With a name like that, there must be something that made it earn that name.

"I bid you adieu!"

The words still rang in his head even as the rest of the world came into being around him. The far future, what he had long desired to see...

But something was amiss. Many living things were nearby but he wasn't certain how he knew that--the data wasn't transmitted to him via biometric readings like usual, but as something he couldn't define. It was as if he felt their presence.

His right hand tightened around the Violet Book, but it felt unusual. The gentle crunch sensation was coming from his hand, as if it was covered in...

hair...? Or more properly fur...

Finally, slowly, he opened his eyes. The book was safe, but the hand holding it was not his own. Not that his body was his own anyway, meant to be in the likeness of his creator, but it was the form he had been activated in. This new hand was distinctly not human-inspired. It was blue and black and covered in short, coarse fur, with a strikingly large spike on the back.

He looked down to see a similar spike protruding from his chest. If he had seen it first he would have come to the conclusion that he had somehow been impaled and that his pain sensors were malfunctioning.

He was malfunctioning anyway, if he was seeing his body as that of a Lucario.

Besides the spikes, besides the fur, something else was utterly striking. His chest rose and fell, and he held a hand to his mouth (which was now underneath a prominent muzzle instead of a small nose) for examination. Sure enough, he was respirating, as if he was a living being. Cautiously he raised his left hand to his thin throat and felt for a pulse. The faint but distinct rhythm was found even with fur masking the touch.

Was this the power the distant future held? Had he been found and transferred into this body? It seemed to be alive, but the technology of the future had to be far more advanced. Perhaps it could contain artificial bodies that mimicked life far more than he did.

Carefully, holding the treasured book to his side, he rose to his feet and looked around.

"Let me see that map," Felin said, attempting to snatch it from Vinarch if she could.

"What's with that thing?" Nori ponders aloud at the cat's brash move. "Do they like, think that's a treasure map?" He is unaware of how (probably) right he is about Felin's avarice, or at least desire to hunt for treasure. The boy grips his pendant a little tighter. He's able to get a decent look at the map just with height and position. No X-marks-the-spot or anything from what he can see. But even if they did find treasure here, would they be able to take any of it back? Not to mention the problems with taking it in the first place!

He sighs and slumps vaguely. He was just making assumptions, wasn't he? It was all he could do with the language barrier in the way. He wasn't bad at it, but...

The nameless Lucario headed in the direction of the nearest sapient being. He was certain, despite his lack of biometric readings, that there were many life forms around. This had to be the special ability of the Lucario line...oh, why couldn't he remember what it was called? Aurum? Aura, that was it. He didn't seem to have the full breadth of knowledge he usually did, which made sense since he could no longer access larger databanks.

It would feel limiting, he was certain, once the sensation of being completely overwhelmed faded. He was suddenly organic, alive, and the transition from a mechanical shell was going to take quite some time to get used to.

And he had very little experience with living beings. Aside from the past few hours, most of which he had spent as an observer in his own body as other programs pushed him aside, his only experience had been with his creator and the occasional test subject.

Which meant, at the very least, that he was better prepared to deal with pokemon than he was with humans, even if it was purely from a scientific standpoint. And the auras he was seeing were in the shapes of pokemon. If he had taken this form, or been given this form, or been transferred into it somehow, he figured it would help him fit in. But it was a town, a sophisticated place, and even advanced builders like...what was it called, the builder from Unova, always carried around concrete pillars...hadn't reached that degree of construction yet.

Answers would come in time. His curiosity was going off in ways he never anticipated. If this was indeed the far future he had studied, it was defying all expectations.

If it wasn't...well, the time machine defied all expectations.

He clutched the treasured Violet Book to his chest, cautious to avoid the protruding spike, and approached the first life form he saw. "Excuse me...This will perhaps sound strange, but where am I?"

What an unusual statement. It would require knowledge of where he had come from. Perhaps this Houndour was why he had found himself in this new body to begin with. But he could ask that later. "I imagine I am. But where is 'here'?"

He glanced around. Still no familiarity in his surroundings. But then, his creator hadn't been interested in much past Area Zero, so he had no cause to study things like architecture styles. It was not Paldea; that was all he could discern.

Red rolled his eyes. "You're in a place called Obleta. We're all visitors from different universes. Is that clear enough for you?"

This had caused irritation in the Houndour. But why? "I apologize if this is evident to others. It is not to me. This is a new situation, as I had expected only to travel..."

He couldn't mention the time machine, of course. Perhaps he could simply end the sentence there, but the stranger had dropped an unusual piece of information.

"...somewhere in the same world. This is another universe...?"

If others knew it, if it was evident to them immediately, perhaps they had studied such things. Perhaps they would know how he could return.

"Boy, you're slow. Yes, you're not home anymore. If you're wondering how to get back, we're in the middle of figuring that out. Word is that the trick is somewhere in a storehouse, and we're on our way there."

'Slow' was something the AI had never been called. By his nature he could process information far faster than a human, or other living beings. Perhaps becoming a living being himself had hampered his natural ability.

No, it certainly had. He was no longer a computer program, after all, but flesh and blood. He was, factually, much slower than he had ever been. Perhaps his body could move faster than his old mechanical shell, but that was clearly not what the Houndour was saying.

"Again, I apologize if this is evident to others. It is not to me. I have no experience with these matters. May I travel with you?"

"Thank you. I am glad that I can join you." After thinking for a moment, he added "May I see the map? I know that I will not know any location, but I want to know what the written language is in this place."

Though that raised the question of what language they were speaking. Lucario had been known to speak telepathically sometimes, but Houndour and Servine, to his knowledge, had no such ability. But again, it was far from his field of study.

"I just hope I don't end up a burden, is what I'm saying."

Alex turned to the human, momentarily distracted from his pensive worries. He recognized the attempt to cheer him up and figured he could return the favor. "I don't think you have to worry about that. Pokemon-to-human communication is a handy skill, one I'd kill to have back home." Although... it wasn't like he had any trouble communicating as a pokemon so far, either... still, though. "Either way, I've found that the people worried about being a bother usually aren't the one who should actually be worried."

"Hey, about you. What kinda tight spot are we talking here that this place pulled you from?" Nori asks, pursing his lips. "Supposed to buy groceries? Caretaker? ...life or death? Er, if you don't mind sharing."

Oh. There it was. Back to that. His thoughts drifted back to Kimiko. "Well, er... I guess you could call it life or death. We weren't in any immediate danger, but that could change at a moment's notice. I don't... well, the idea of something going wrong while I'm not there is... not easy on my mind."

Like I said though, time might not work the same way. We could be sent right back to not only where we were, but when we were. Or a month here might be like, five minutes there."

Then something came back to him. Like a memory, but he wasn't even sure when he experienced it. "Oh, you know... that's a good point. I'm, uh... relatively new to this multiverse thing," he added with an embarrassed grin. "I only hope we get returned to a point near to when we left..."

He clutched the treasured Violet Book to his chest, cautious to avoid the protruding spike, and approached the first life form he saw. "Excuse me...This will perhaps sound strange, but where am I?"

Another newcomer, this one looking more clueless than the rest so far. Shame his first encounter with their party was the cocky houndour. "Not strange at all, actually," Alex said, waving a paw. Then he gestured at the houndour. "Believe it or not, he's telling the truth. Seems most of us aren't from around here, and we're all setting off to find our tickets home. We're just... taking a break at the moment.

The Lucario nodded. "No, I believe him. Considering the circumstances before my awakening here, it must be something truly unusual." He wanted to ask if the rest of them had gone through time machines of their own, but decided against it. Best not to speak of such things unless it was vital to reveal classified information.

To get home...where would home be? If this endeavor was successful, would he be returned to Zero Lab? Would he be taken to the far future at last? Unconsciously, a remnant of his creator's sentimental human habits, he hugged the Violet Book a little tighter.

Breathe. Flick the tongue. Breathe again.

Yeah, Unukahlai was sure of it. The air tasted funny, if not even foreign. The taste of metal and minerals reminded her of Valora, with its rusting iron castle and the scent of wild Steel-type Pokémon. Even the currents felt different, as she found out she had little control over them. That didn't seem her brother's work, either, so maybe there was another dominant Rayquaza?

"Hmmm, this is strange..." she hissed, her tail swaying erratically. "I wonder how I ended up here. Is this one of Arceus' tests or something?"

The black Rayquaza lowered her head to scratch it with her tiny claws. She saw humans do that to sharpen their thinking while they pondered things, but that didn't seem to work. The gesture just seemed so silly.

"Well, no point in dawdling, I suppose. I need some information to find out what's going on." With this said, the sky serpent looked down at the traveling city below, which she had been following since she appeared in that world. "Let's see if there's someone who can help me out."

With a glowing impulse of her marks, she summoned strong currents and slithered toward the buildings. Flicking her tongue in curiosity, she tasted the funky steam and oily scents. But then, another series of scents caught her attention: organic mortals. Finally, something vaguely familiar!

After pinpointing the origin of the scent, she reached the spot where the group of mixed Pokémon had gathered. Grinning in delight, she waved her paw and her marks glistened with a warm light. "Hey! Hello, mortals! How are you all doing?"

The nameless Lucario's eyes widened. The approach of an overwhelming energy had put him on high alert, the nature of it was something even the power of the Paradoxes couldn't muster. But to see the god of the upper atmosphere slither out from between the buildings...

Well, the day continued to be full of surprises.

That aura was overwhelming. The air itself seemed to alight with energy, and he felt oddly itchy. Was that normal for a Lucario? For any organic being? Though he had never been faced with a god before; perhaps he would have felt the same sensation even in his mechanical shell.

So far in thought was he that he didn't even register at first that Rayquaza had spoken.

If a god was here..."Are you the one who brought us here?" he asked.

Unukahlai turned to the Lucario and tilted her head, her eyes narrowing slightly. "Huuuh, I'm afraid not, sir. Space-warping isn't a power I can claim for myself. I might be able to destroy meteors with a single blow, but I can't teleport or anything like that."

She curled her coils and landed on the floor with a loud thud, lifting a dust cloud in the process.

"If all, I was wondering if any of you knew what this place is. I'm kinda lost and plenty confused, you see."

Nori sort of talked a lot without much break, so all this probably comes in some form similarly all at once. "Hey, I'm new to it too. I've just read some sci-fi stories and seen a bit of anime and stuff." He winks and flashes a thumbs-up. Then he suddenly drops his arm. "But jeez, life or death for real? Sorry to hear. You don't sound like you're someone who deals with that regularly either. If you want to vent about it, I'll listen!" At least that way, he can do something meaningful!

"And yeah, I know," he admits with a sheepish chuckle. "At least I won't be actively detrimental." He again eyes the Floragato, as their host tries to get the map back from them. "I'm just the kind of person who hates sitting back and watching. If there's something I can do, I'd do it!" He punctuates this with a slight double fist pump. "But what do you mean I don't have to worry? I can't understand the Pokemon here besides you and a few others. I'm not like my friend Prema where I can like, actually do that with spiritual powers or whatever she uses. Even for her, it takes effort compared to others who just can. But the most I can do is try to listen to them syllablizing names or how I've been trained to read body language. Which only does so much."

He averts his eyes, but doesn't turn his head away. After a moment, he actually stands a little taller. He knows he's above many others where he comes from, at least. He waits for Alex to finish speaking with the Lucario before adding, "I'd need a translator, is what I'm saying. Um, were you...offering to do that by saying I don't have to worry?" He places his hands together and smiles. There's sort of a natural cuteness to it, and just a little bit of hopeful begging.

Speaking of body language and the Lucario, while he can't understand them, he does take particular note of the Violet Book they are cradling protectively. No, on second glance, it was more like they were using it for comfort? Besides which, it only confuses him more, however. Their mannerisms indicated they were in a body they weren't used to, but he couldn't understand them, either. Was this like, a Pokemon that evolved or got changed along the way? But that was a Lucario, right? Maybe they could speak if it used aura? He didn't know, and didn't get a chance to ask, because that's when the big sky serpent lands, which breaks him from what he was doing.

The human boy catches it out of the corner of his eye, and leaps backward with impressive deftness right as it thuds down. He scampers several steps away, before taking a bold step forward. He jerks his chin high, his expression is tight and narrow, and he's gritting his teeth. "Hey, watch where you're landing!" he shouts, half-angry and half-scolding. He then gets a better look at it in the darkness and snaps up straight. "Ah!" he yelps, eyebrows shooting up as he takes a couple more steps forward. "Are you okay? Your body..." This was a Rayquaza, he read about those! But they weren't black! Was this one corrupted by something?! At least it wasn't attacking right away. He watches Unukahlai carefully, mouth agape and fists at his side, equal parts cautious and concerned.

"I wonder how I ended up here. Is this one of Arceus' tests or something?"
But if the black Rayquaza was familiar with Arceus' power at all, one look at the human's white pendant and she would know right away - it has been blessed with a power much like it. It wasn't his, but it has a similar vibe. Maybe from one of his other creations or a mix of them.
