A Day in Obleta (Roleplay, Active)

[System Error]

"Nice to meet you too, Alex! Thanks for the info." Nori wasn't sure if this was real or not, but the guy was sincere in his tone and body language. He rubs the back of his head, twirling some hair with a finger. "And thank you for offering to help, Mr. Vinarch. Oh!" He expresses his gratitude with a nonverbal bow, just in case! He presses his index fingers together. He is wondering why he seems to be the only human around, but he can't exactly ask that himself. "Sooo, we're here for a month from the sounds of things? I don't really know how this stuff works, but we might not necessarily be gone a month." And if he was, he wouldn't mind that much.

He starts to turn, but then looks at the grass cat as it speaks and gestures to him. "Oh! Were you speaking to me? Sorry, I can't understand you either." It seems their mocking fell a little flat on the intended target. "I don't get it, why can I–" He looks down and notices his wardrobe for the first time. "Huh? I don't remember these clothes." He tugs at the jacket and wiggles his feet. He huffs and hums, mumbling something to himself while holding his pendant.

Eventually, Nori breaks from the sudden distraction. "Well, I'm sure things will work out!" he declares. Plus, they had to have been brought here for a good reason, right?

Red's eyes widened, then narrowed.

"Oh, you would go there, wouldn't you."

"Nevermind. Are you saying we can't leave for another month?"

"A... month?" Alex questioned Vinarch as panic began to set in. "I, uh... I really don't have time to be away for that long. I left my girlfriend in kind of a lot of deep shit and if I don't get back to her soon, I'm going to be in worse shit."

"Not to worry!" Vinarch said, putting his goggles on. "I can expedite your return! All we must do is travel to the storehouse ourselves!"

Obleta was... an ugly place. Or at least, that was what had immediately arrived upon Mtri's mind, as before the Giratina's eyes laid the vast stretches of a realm foreign to them. The unnatural steam constantly pouring into the sky, not to mention the very Pokemon roaming this place. So uncannily similar to a Pokemon, yet so distant of a soul...

Though they were a Ghost-type, Mtri shuddered as a ghastly chill crept up their serpentine form. They could not long to bear sight of these machines, though thankfully, there were some actual Pokemon around, as they could observe. They brought the lightest of comforts, even if those feelings were quickly drowned by Mtri's meek nature.

Appearing as a young Giratina was bound to attract attention.

"...Hello." their voice softly reached the others.

Red turned to the new... Giratina. Hm.

"Hello, Violent One," Red greeted. "Heard about you and Arceus. Respect. Us psychos gotta stick together."

"Why hello there!" Vinarch said, greeting the Giratina as if they were just another Pokemon, before turning to Red. "Pardon me, but who's Arceus? What Pokemon are they? Or are they a human, or even an animal?"

Red humphed. "Well, I'll be. A universe not tainted by the existence of Arceus. I guess you must have some other creator god. Or phony creator, but all the same."

He sat down. "Arceus is the apprentice and lapmon of the Third Being, the creator of reality. He was a diligent student and thus received the duty of watching the world while the Third Being left for whatever he's off doing now. As for what Arceus looks like, imagine a furfrou that got stuck in a piece of fence. He's essentially that, but glowier."

"I see..." Vinarch said, bringing a vine up to his chin. "Sounds like the beginning of a bad fantasy novel!"

Red held a stare. "Everyone's a critic," he muttered.

Nori's head turns towards the Houndour as he speaks; another Pokemon he could understand. Only with his words and where he's looking does he notice the new entrant, which he couldn't. If those two weren't enough, the human also only gives the young Giratina an idle glance. "Huh, this centipede-thing is a violent one?" he innocently muses, like it's a statement on a common species. Poor thing, not getting any respect.

The young human scrutinizes it carefully, having been taught to read the body language of humans and Pokemon alike as part of his training. It isn't in a threatening pose. Actually, it seems more shy and surprised than anything. "But it doesn't look very violent," he concludes. This Houndour certainly sounded biased, but then again, it didn't seem like he was lying about this. He seemed to have knowledge of myth and religion, so maybe judging this Pokemon like that was part of his beliefs?

Come to think of it, when you look at the two, Nori's pants sort of match Giratina's in color. Hmm...

"No!" The Giratina immediately shrunk at Vinarch's question, pulling away from the Servine. "I mustn't converse anymore about the Original One in such a light manner..."

Mtri's gaze then shifted towards Nori. "T-The name belongs not to me, but to another from a distant time. I am not associated with the Violent One."

 

[Seren]

How... did they get on the topic of Arceus? It certainly was interesting, and a few of the gathered knew a lot more about it than Alex did himself, but he was eager to get moving. Maybe Vinarch would just tell him where the warehouse was and he could go wander down to it on his own.

Even the appearance of a... baby giratina? He'd heard the tales of Giratina in his own home world, a dragon banished to its own dimension for whatever crimes Arceus deemed horrible enough. This one, though, certainly didn't look to be like some kind of evil god killer. Hell, it really did look like a small child, which Alex had never heard of, in terms of legends. He supposed in another situation he might be more inclined to study a legendary up close; Spruce would never let him hear the end of it, otherwise. But now wasn't really the time.

With the houndour keen on the Arceus topic, and therefore not in any immediate danger of he and the mawile causing chaos, Alex surveyed the rest of the area, searching for a bench to camp on.

Nori still can't understand the Giratina. But he can get a good idea just from their body language. He bows lightly. "Sorry, I can't understand your words. But I get you're a bit flustered about what I said! And um, sorry!" He bows again, smiling nervously while covering his wrists. This was getting increasingly awkward. He slumps a little. At least there were a couple people...Pokemon he could understand here. Nori did not want to imagine how he'd feel if there weren't.

He mumbles to himself, "Just relax, Nori. It'll work out!" With a grin, he twirls around with vigor. He was alert to his surroundings from the moment he arrived, but only now with most of his questions answered or mentally brushed aside does the full scope of them sink in. Now is when he can finally appreciate them. For a moment, he's frozen to the spot. He idly follows Alex, perhaps somewhat subconsciously and certainly a little consciously - friendly and able to communicate both ways. He looks around, up and down, left to right, his mouth hanging slack as he marvels at the sights and sounds of Obleta.

"This place is so cool!" he gushes to the Electabuzz. He punctuates his last two words with double fist pumps accompanying each of them. "There's robot Pokemon, weird machines, and lots of other awesome things! It's like, something out of a sci-fi story! But real! I think. Maybe?" He couldn't be sure if this place was real or not. It felt real! His dreams usually weren't this strange and involved, either! "I don't know why we're here, but this is once-in-a-lifetime! We gotta explore as much as we can, before we–"

His eyes suddenly widen and he recoils in realization. A light frown comes upon his mouth. Going silent, he half-turns away while rubbing his hair.

Alex casts a sideways glance at the human who followed him, then looks around, himself. He could appreciate Nori's excitement, he supposed. Were he not worrying about home, he might have enjoyed exploring their new setting, too. Robotic pokemon certainly weren't the norm, and the aesthetic of this place was indeed something to behold.

"Feels real enough to me," he said. "Given what Vinarch says, it could be a while before we get to go home, so there should be plenty of time to go looking around a bit. Provided there's no laws or rules about inter-dimensional travelers." Which, he thought to himself, may be the case; surely, if this was such a common occurrence here, there had to be some sort of agency designed to feed and shelter travelers set up at some point, and along with that, there had to be some kind of rules set in place so that these travelers didn't just blow up the entire area.

A knot formed in his gut as he spoke. "I'm sorry," he said aloud, keeping his eyes down at the electabuzz paws in his lap. "I left some loved ones in a pretty tight spot before getting dragged here, and I can't stop worrying about them. They're going to be wondering what happened to me. Probably fearing the worst." He went silent for a moment, recalling the few days his girlfriend had been missing. That had been the longest they'd been apart for a while, and he recalled how he'd feared the worst.

He shook his head to clear his thoughts. If there really wasn't any way to speed up their return home trip, then dwelling on it now was just going to make the next month even more miserable. He turned back to Nori. "So, uh, enough about that. I see you managed to remain human; seems like the rest of us weren't so lucky."

 

[System Error]

"You think I'm lucky?" he asks, flinching back a little. Then he puts a finger on his lip and gives it a bit of thought. "I...guess so? Especially if we don't get turned back somehow. It probably says something about me, but well, I thought of something just now. It's not like I can help you guys or do much. I don't have anything to fight with, and I think I can only understand former humans?" That was what he was piecing together from observation. He looks down at his feet, brushing them back while fidgeting with his pendant. Internally, he wonders: it was supposed to protect him, so did it play a role in protecting him? "I just hope I don't end up a burden, is what I'm saying."

He then looks up at the Electabuzz, leaning in slightly. "Hey, about you. What kinda tight spot are we talking here that this place pulled you from?" Nori asks, pursing his lips. "Supposed to buy groceries? Caretaker? ...life or death? Er, if you don't mind sharing." He's thinking it was life or death – or close to it – from the Electabuzz's expression and sudden silence. "I get you're worried, and it makes sense to be. Like I said though, time might not work the same way. We could be sent right back to not only where we were, but when we were. Or a month here might be like, five minutes there." It's really obvious and he isn't even trying to hide the fact that he's throwing out wild speculation. He even went out of his way to not state the pessimistic, that five minutes here might be a month elsewhere. But it's also clear from the gleam in his red eyes, his wry smile, fists clenched in front of him as if ready to pump, and strong posture that he thinks they have to stay positive! "We can't jump to any conclusions about anything until we see for sure!"

 

[Adamhuarts]

Felin twirled the string of her yoyo around her fingers and stared off into the distance with a vacant look on her face. The chatter of the pokemon around her went in one ear and out the other. Even if they weren't strangers, she found that they were too ordinary. Out of all of them, only the Houndour and sassy Mawile tickled the amusement seeking corner of her brain.

The Floragato snapped to attention like a string pulled taut in her mind. She slunk over with a nimble movements of a feline and landed with a crouch right in Vinarch's path.

"Excuse me," she said as she sprang to her feet. "Why don't we put the tedious preamble on the side and skip to the part you tell us where to find the treasures hiding in this contraption of a world?"

"But of course! I just didn't want to interrupt," Vinarch said, before pulling out a piece of paper. "Let's see...yes, we just passed the nearest storehouse, but the next closest is just up ahead, in Governer Village!"
