Plusle was dead... but also, Plusle and Lopunny were confirmed friends, for real. That was very good to know in a game where most things learned were questionable. But now he needed to figure out if Leafeon or Squirtle was more suspicious.

- Squirtle's information had been correct. The only way he could be evil would be for him to be a spy. His team would have known ahead of time that Big Ears was not in the game (Mismagius had asked this). They would have needed to give him instructions to use his spy-findings to make a correct call, maybe with a list of potential roles to reveal? Would the evil people have even wanted to make the 'virgin' public? Also, if he was a spy, then he was not the 'scarlet woman', so Leafeon's information was wrong.
- Leafeon's information was wrong, so either she was drunk, or poisoned, or lying. Lying did not require the evil people to have a spy, only to know that Investigator was not in the game ahead of time.

She winked to signify that, yes, that was a pun. A halfhearted attempt to get a rise out of Rui. She'd had her fill with the rat, and didn't feel the need to give the plant the same treatment on the way down. Wouldn't be enough time to bask in it anyway.

[[One last post before bed bc I had a nice shower think: there is the possibility that Drunk Rui's information is *all* wrong. Meaning we actually have no good scum suspects at the moment.

Watt was obviously cleared, but that doesn't automatically make Hareta suspect either. (given we also have someone corroborating their innocence, unverified though.)

We also know the investigator role is off the table either way, as afaik, Drunk uses a Town role that isn't in play, just like the GM assigned scum fake claims.

It's unlikely Poisoning is in play despite its priority in night actions. Afaik, Spy information is distributed at Night END, meaning if it was a poison shot, it was a damn lucky one to hit an Investigator. Not impossible, but more unlikely.

The good news is, Rui gets to stay in the game upon elimination and as either Poisoned or Drunk, does not lose an active power by being eliminated. Yes it's a numbers game, and town takes a hit, but not losing a power is a boon. Obv if this is all a bluff then removing a scum team power is good.

Now though I need to sleep. Rocky's pilot is angry, tired, stupid. It's been far too long since last sleep.

It had been... A day.

At first, the conversation felt slow, like not much had been happening, a few naive comments aside. Zevya had begun to grow bored only for sweet Rui, for better or worse, to make a bold claim with her sparkling emera. Pandemonium followed. Shouts and accusations echoed through the liminal grove and fingers found themselves pointed towards Watt. This is it, everyone might've thought. A smoking gun, but when Hareta explained himself, an idea began to form.

And when Watt pointed towards Odette to accuse her...

The lopunny's emera flashed. A powerful, invisible force knocked Watt clean off his feet, his emera and all leading theories disintegrating in the blast. It was almost too effective as everyone could see Watt's soul leaving his body. Literally. A sight that Zevya rolled her eyes at. She nudged the plusle's body, glancing at his ghost. "You don't have to do that, you know," she sighed with a shake of her head. "But hey, if you like cosplaying as a ghost-type, you do you."

The light soon faded from Odette's emera. It looked duller. Still intact, it was clear that it wasn't going to do anything like that again, but whatever it was, it was proof of innocence for both pokémon.

Quite the shock to the system, to put it lightly. With nowhere else to turn to, the glares fell on Hareta and then, as the logic unwound, the one who'd started this mess...

Rui.

The votes piled on. Was she lying? She had to be. Or maybe her emera was faulty or tampered with, but who knew? Whatever the reasoning, the consensus remained the same: It was safer this way. That emera was either a danger or dead weight – an acceptable sacrifice.

And as everyone grew drowsy as the light of the leaves began to dim, every emera began to glow within the looplets of those who'd voted for the leafeon, beams of light emerging from every one to focus on Rui's (maybe the powder that used to be Watt's emera could manage something like that too). The rays grew stronger and stronger, the emera's prismatic reflections almost blinding until—

"Morning" came in much the same way as the last day. It looked like Zevya was up and early, centre at the meeting place, drawing up some diagrams in the dirt. By now, her arm was resting in a makeshift splint and sling.

Her ear twitched at the sound of approach, though she didn't look up for a while after that. Too focused on drawing lines in the dirt.

As everyone filtered in, they looked around to see if anyone had been attacked in the night but as the final stragglers came into view, it became clear that everyone's emeras had remained intact overnight. Zevya pouted at that. "That attack on me better not have been personal," she huffed. "I'm choosing to believe you got lucky."

The zoroark stood up and stretched.

"Well, no time like the present. Let's find that bastard already."

Last night I was going ??????? because if Watt was innocent, that means that Rui was the spy, and it was a setup to kill a townie d1. Neither Rui or Hareta is evil, but Rui’s information means that it was either Hareta or Watt, so it has to be Watt. Watt gets confirmed innocent through Hareta’s information. So Rui’s information was wrong... but does it make any sense as a play? I don’t think so... it seems more likely we got confused. It didn’t seem like Rui knew what was going on for it to go badly, while if there was a Spy involved they would’ve known that Hareta was the Washerwoman and Watt was the Chef, like shouldn’t they have picked people without verifiable information instead of the two that could outclaim each other? And just out of how Rui was talking it sounds like she was very confident in the information... I think she was drunk or poisoned.

While it's true that she could have been making a specific villainous play, and the guidebook would have advised her of this, if that were so... would she still make the defense she's making? I'm not so sure."

The Noivern cleared his throat, and narrowed his eyes more seriously.

"In any case, her information cannot possibly have been accurate, and we have no real Investigator. While it is possible that either the Squirtle or the Plusle are the Spy, I interpret our lack of player elimination last night to mean there is no Spy. If I'm right, that would be most fortunate for us..."

The smirk widened slightly.

"If they have a Spy, they would know the game setup. Why, then, would they target a Soldier? Why, if they knew who the Monk was, would they not first kill the Monk? Why would they decide not to kill anyone if they knew who they could safely kill? I think we can all breathe a sigh of relief that it seems less plausible that they have a Spy than not. For this reason, I am now more willing to trust the Squirtle, incidentally."

But yeah it’s actually insane to me that 1) people genuinely thought I was the spy when there are a thousand holes in that logic, 2) there were two other perfectly reasonable explanations for why my info was wrong, 3) nobody even tried to consider the possibility of Hareta being a spy, and 4) NOBODY defended the train on me which should be a giant red flag.

I’m trying not to be salty but wow it really sucks when you’re absent for just a couple hours, come back to a vote train, and then any possible explanation given is met with complete crickets. For this reason I’m side-eyeing every single person who I know was awake at the time everything unraveled/I defended myself because y’all had several hours to consider my arguments and said absolutely nothing. She tapped her own looplet.

“Nobody called me out in yesterday, but if you’ve been paying attention I’ve been soft-claiming some bullshit too. Shuppet over there’s definitely been paying attention: The moment Rui’s allegations dropped, I signaled how happy I’d be to kill one of my neighbours, even though I shouldn’t have had any clue if it Hareta or Nine-Volt. After Elegym more or less claimed Empath, I cranked up the gambit a bit, softclaimed Empath a bit harder, but also said I thought I might be Drunk.”

“I’ve got the Clairvoyant [Fortune-Teller] emera. I get to pick two players next to me each night and am told if I picked the Demon, but one townsfolk gets chosen to look like a fake Demon to me. Night zero, I picked my neighbours and found a demon. Night one, I did a replication experiment: Rocky, who’s not townsfolk and therefore can’t be chosen as my false positive, and Madeline again.”

“No dice. My night zero and night one results are borderline contradictory. Seems the most plausible explanation by far is that I was poisoned night one, inadvertently confirming that I’m not the drunk, and my night zero results were accurate!”

And with that, she pantomimed a curtsey to Madeline.

This drunk and poisoning thing sure just threw everything into the fucking air. Like every experiment just having a base chance of being contaminated and returning random results.

"Okay, let's take an inventory of what we actually know for certain. We know Watt was innocent. We know Odette is. We basically know Hareta had accurate information on the identity of the virgin - some theoretical chance he just fucking guessed, but I'm not buying that, and if he were drunk or poisoned or whatever the fuck, his 'info' would be random and as good as a guess. So it's very unlikely Hareta could be anything other than Washerwoman, like he says, or theoretically Spy.

"Meanwhile, here's the other claim info we have. None of this is certain, because one person could be drunk, and one person could be poisoned."

“S-so, last night, I got some information. Because of my role.” She raised her head and forced more confidence into her tone. “I’m an Investigator. And I was told that one of two people here has the Prolong Emera.”

Oh, gods, she remembered the names, but not even which species. She didn’t know yet whose gaze to avoid, so she stared at a tree across the clearing instead. “I learned that either Hareta or Watt has it.”

She sat back. “That’s all my role does, I think. I won’t learn anything else for the rest of the…of this.” Felt weird calling it a game when Zevya had been hurt. Then she gave a small start. “Oh! But, um, there’s always the possibility I could be Drunk or Poisoned, right? I think I heard something about that. So…there’s always the possibility chance my information isn’t accurate. But it was too important to keep to myself.”

Rui's claim with my ability. With the particulars of my ability and the power of logic, I strongly believe that

Watt is the Scarlet Woman, and

Hareta is innocent.

I would've preferred to wait some more for Inke's response, but if no one else is claiming, it seems important to give this information now. It just seemed too perfect, everything linked up too well, that someone would pick a claim that I could verify as true and we could narrow down to one immediately. Like, if there was a Spy, this would be the perfect manipulation, but like... it does seem like a really risky gambit for the Mafia to do on the first day. So I'll believe Rui.

"Elgyem vaguely corroborated Rui and said Hareta is innocent yesterday, but has now clarified that what she actually learned was that there are zero evil players between Rui and Hareta. This could be true info, in which case Rui was drunk or poisoned, and Hareta is definitely Washerwoman. Or Elgyem could be the Drunk, in which case Rui can't be the Drunk. Or Elgyem could have been poisoned last night, in which case, again, Rui could not have been poisoned that night. Or Elgyem could be lying, but scum lying specifically to vaguely corroborate and narrow down info they know to be false sounds very unlikely. The simplest explanation is it's true, and would've been a point of actual evidence in Rui's favor yesterday when we could've really used it, goddamn it."

Note that that doesn't mean anything about Elgyem and Spectrier; he was extrapolating that based on Hareta being evil, but Hareta's probably not evil. We can use this info later but right now it doesn't tell us anything other than ruling out possible scumteams."

"Oh, I have great news for you, if you're worried about who got the unreliable emera. Earlier, before anyone was claiming, my creepy voice had the chance to run some guesstimates on the odds of my info being accurate or not. Like a loser~ Anyway, the odds of it being true aren't great, but if Rui's drunk then that means it almost certainly is true, and I'd be down to execute you anyway."
