Luz got the call to the meeting while touring her newest friend, Electrike Koamaru of Canalave, around Destiny Village. They arrived later than she'd hoped to. At first, she peered over the heads of those team members shorter than her (most of them) to search the wraithlike presences beside Diyem for any sign of Brisa. There was none. Nothing. Diyem silenced discussion of the matter, and Astrid and Starr looked as anxious and pained as Luz felt... She didn't know who to turn to, or what she'd say to them if she did.
Instead, she listened to the proceedings of the meeting in relative silence, and kept her mind occupied by explaining bits of information to Koa. Anything to keep from wondering why Brisa wouldn't turn up and if she was safe, and if there was such a thing as safety in the Voidlands.
Gods, this was awkward.
"We have to be honest. We should definitely tell Maple everything. But we have to revive Arceus. The world needs Arceus! If we revive Arceus, can't we prove to this Maple that we're really trying to help?"
Aw, man, her lil' protege was stepping up before she was? Wind and weather... Luz stepped forward, arms crossed and back straight, and spoke up at last.
"Yeah, I'll second the call fer honesty. Deception has its uses, but keepin' our allies in th'dark ain't a sound play. And, ah, if we're tellin' God Squad, I reckon I oughta be part of the posse what does it. I'm pals with a few of those folks, 'specially Truffle. He'll listen t'me."
She took a steadying breath (or whatever passed for one, as a shade) and kept on.
"While I'm at it, lemme consult Pop's journals first. I went to Destiny Tower after the Joule fight, an' I saw that Cola was readin' a bunch of notes left by Pop. If there's a good reason to empower Cola, I'm sure we'll find it there. It can't hurt to learn as much as we can afore committing to a plan. And on
that note, p'rhaps some of us could find out if there are any other power sources we could use alongside the tree? Or at least if Diyem an' Pop can recover on their own inside the next generation, y'know?"
She bit the inside of her cheek and lashed her tail, aware of the eyes of Brisa's surviving friends on her. She'd avoided them since the... Since Brisa
died, and she didn't know how to approach them. Not that they'd approached her. It wasn't that she was afraid, she just... She just wanted them to be okay.
"As fer what I reckon we should do... I reckon keepin' folks' trust by revivin' an arceus is the rational choice, but more importantly than that, we owe it to our friends in the Voidlands t'get 'em safely back. They're dependin' on us. And . . . we need them."
