Ayumi leaned forwards, her gaze morphing into a comforting smile. "I don't blame you," she said simply. "Ghost is perhaps one of the most maligned typings. Phobias of them are more common than any other type. Only rivalled by Bug or Dark. But I can assure you that Dusana will not bring about any harm. I have an innate ability to commune with ghosts. If you're uncomfortable, just say the word and I call recall her.
"Ah, no, please that's quite alright. She looks rather content to be out with us now, I'd hate to have that ruined on my account."
Aggron had since trundled up behind Steven's couch and leaned down so his head rested on the back. Steven reached one hand up and rubbed his partner's helm. Aggron's close proximity was reassuring.
"I've had a few... unfortunate run ins with ghost types before," Steven admitted. Aggron huffed through his nose, tousling Steven's hair with his breath. A reminder that he was still there and ever-vigilant. "I trust you and Dusana, though. The ghosts I've had troubles with were more... impulsive." He watched the Gengar curl up on the couch as if she were a Delcatty, and smiled a genuine smile.
Ayumi looked at her and nodded. "Dusana also holds no ill will towards your reaction," she said. "She is very aware that her presence may be frightening for some." She looked back at Steven. "You are familiar with a ghost-type specialist?" she asked. "The chances may be slim, but that would be a meeting I would look forwards to.
"Thank you, Dusana. And yes! One of my Elites, Phoebe, is a ghost type specialist. She's still young, so she'd be excited to meet someone like yourselves, partners with such a long history together. I don't think she's met many Gengar either, since they're so rare in Hoenn. I'm not sure where or when you're from," he said, "but if you find yourself in Hoenn, head to Mt. Pyre and ask for her there."
He gave a pointed look at the yellow ribbon Dusana wore. "She might even have a flower for you to wear if you like."
"I see," Ayumi said to get back on topic. She leaned back a bit. "I'll try to learn what I can here to hopefully help get to the bottom of this mystery. Perhaps we could work together to compare our findings."
"I'm sorry to burden you with this problem, but your help would be invaluable. The more people we have on the lookout, the better. I don't like having this culprit on the loose, and I don't like having people disappear..."
Steven eyed Dusana as she snuggled against her trainer, and gave Aggron another pat on the snout. He couldn't bear the thought of being separated from Aggron. He knew Ayumi would feel exactly the same way should anything happen to either of her partners. They needed to get to the bottom of this, for everyone's sake.
"If I find anything out, I will be sure to share it with you."
