Some time after settling into Destiny Village, Bahamut walked into the lounge and curled up on the carpet. He wasn't sure why, but it felt nice. Must've been one of those cat things.

Vix had spent most of the day getting stuff together for Icetales' party, which included a lot of reading. As much as she loved it, it wore her out rather quickly. She was currently melted over a beanbag chair close to the Sky Jukebox, looking through the song collection to find something to listen to.

    Most of these sound terrible.

A bold statement seeing how Vix couldn't name a song to save her life. "I have no idea what to pick..." Vix groaned. It felt like a fruitless effort, but she continued looking through the songs anyway.

Maybe let someone else pick a song?

And have all her efforts be dashed to the winds? Of course not. But Vix wouldn't exactly stop someone from choosing a song.

"All right, everyone. Arms, legs, tails, or, uh, wax up!" Sceptile Balm raised his arms up. "And down... and up! And down... Good, it looks like you guys are getting better at this."

Tired groans and dutiful grunts filled the Guild's lounge, which had been turned into a makeshift physical therapy room for the team. Their battle against the Blacklight Dragon, even after a night's rest, left most of the team nearly bedridden or still bound to the infirmary. Still, despite this, many of them were coaxed to come to the lobby so they could do some gentle maneuvers with one another, and they even found a way to get Bahamut to fit in with his larger, but more organic, body.

"You're slouching, Owen!" Cepa called. The pink onion flew around Owen and tapped at his left arm.

    "C-c'mon, we got hit by a triple-god..."

"And I'm a little god and I'm saying keep your arms up!" Cepa giggled and floated back.

Atop Owen's head, Shady wobbled and bounced with Owen's motions, like it, with its lack of limbs, was trying to stretch in exercises with him.

There were also a few new arrivals on t he team who were participating in these morning exercises--of course, Shiron, who had recently evolved like the others, and another arrival that had been discovered during their time against the creation trio. They hadn't heard from Diyem since they left to fight, but perhaps he had somehow misfired when summoning this "Saltriv" for assistance? Curious.

I have been spilling sweat and fur and gathering the best of material and gourmet food to organize a truly luxurious and delectable festival. I mean, getting good comrades back safe and sound is an event that ought to be celebrated.

It had taken a few weeks, but the festival was finally upon them. The festival that had originally been intended specifically to celebrate the safe return of Brisa and Starr from the Reverse World.

Brisa felt like she was back in the pit.

Luz, her ultra stone, nudged her hindpaw insistently, trying to rouse her from her spot in the the dorm lounge where she was alternating between reading one of Cibus' classic literary novels, and tormenting herself by looking at text messages on her phone and not knowing how to reply.

[Brisket -> Team Spectrum]: I am sorry to say I am not yet ready to participate in the festivities, being preoccupied with personal concerns for the moment. With luck, I will attend shortly. -Yrs, B. Escarpa

Even in written form, she was a terrible liar.

"Not now, Luz. Not unless ya can find yer way to fillin' me with confidence as well as fightin' power."

After leaving Silver to his books, Nate had every intention of getting the hell out of the guild before things started, well, poppin' around here again. (Fucking hell, the place was even starting to turn him stupid.)

Hustling down the large, quiet corridors, though, he started to reconsider. He'd never really checked this place out, for obvious reasons. And who knew whether he'd ever get a better chance to explore a bit? He sure as hell wasn't about to set up shop here, but he couldn't admit some curiosity about the digs most of the rest of the team was taking advantage of.

Nate turned away from the front lobby, taking off down a side hallway instead. Most of the doors here looked like they were just dorm rooms, pokémon's names slotted into the holders next to them. Nate tried a couple handles, but they were locked. Voices sounded from behind a third, and Nate hurried on his way, throwing a couple nervous glances over his shoulder.

It wasn't long before he found the stairs. Down that way... The sign said "cafeteria." Good to know, he supposed, although with his unlimited meal tickets he didn't expect he'd be showing up to eat here real often. Looked like there was an infirmary on the ground floor, too. Not too interesting. He wandered on until he heard faint music coming from somewhere. There was a room at the end of the hall where the door was open, but Nate couldn't hear any voices. He slunk along until he could peer around the corner.

Huh. Some kind of lounge thing. There were cushions strewn all over, books and boardgames and tables with the careless detritus of people who hadn't bothered cleaning up from their last hang-out. And a fridge. Nate went to see if there was anything good inside, but paused at the list of rules on the front. It was still weird to be able to look at writing like this--which as far as Nate could tell wasn't even proper writing, just a bunch of footprint shapes stamped in rows--and immediately be able to tell what it said. Thanks, Diyem.

So supposedly you could be as loud as you wanted in the lounge, but no... surfing? Nate puzzled over that one, then smiled broadly. Well, he hadn't exactly been thinking of it, but now that it got mentioned...

Cino wasn't sure why he still felt like this. He had been trying to get himself back into fighting, but the mindset was hindering him from doing so.

And the voice, of course. Fuck that thing.

He was sitting in the lounge while the party was in full swing. Somehow, he didn't feel like celebrating with the others.

The last couple days, his ultra stone felt weird. It had moved by itself for a while now, but now it also did something different: it talked to him. Telepathically. Cino thought he was going crazy, but no. It really talked to him. It sounded like it had missed Cino.

The most bizarre thing about this stone was that something came out of it very recently. Three gray feathers on top of its head, as gray as the rest of its body. Talons clacked on the floor as the monochrome Pokemon walked around.

This has got to be the strangest thing that had happened to him.

    "So your name is Tary?"

"Mhm! But why didn't you recognise me, Cino?" His voice was like a child's, playful and high pitched. "We were best friends! We still are best friends, right?"

He was a friend of Cino? He never met this Torchic in his life, and yet his monochrome buddy claimed to know Cino from back home. "Uh... yeah, yeah... we are." He laughed nervously. "Tary."

It had been a few days since Petram had hatched from his Ultra Stone and Icetales had recovered completely from the stress-induced illness that plagued his mind and body. Talking to Owen and Wishkeeper about his plight had been a great panacea, indeed, but there was something that troubled his mind.

His bloodline. His escape from home. His duties back home. All of them had been buried in the back of his mind, ignored for far too long.

He wondered if the ghost of his Father had become so aggressive as an unconscious attempt of focusing again on what he needed to do. On what his destiny was. On… who he really was.

The son of a daemon, a tyrant, a royal. Did that mean that, once at home, he had to fight for the throne and… he had to become a daemon, a tyrant, a monster himself…?

Icetales sighed and brought a cup of tea into his mouth. He wanted to shelve the matter once more, but it kept popping up in his mind, as if tired of being dismissed.

“Golly, why am I perturbed by such thoughts?” he whispered, staring at his tea. “A prince… why did I have to be born as a royal? It is just a massive itch in the flank, what with all expectations that folks expect from me, and with only spats in the face as a reward…”

But then, his ears picked up some nearby footsteps and he straightened his stance. He took another sip of his tea and glanced around, hoping to not have attracted weird looks.

Later that night, Owen had indeed settled into a well-earned sleep. It was hard to tell if anything would rouse him from that slumber. After shrouding his tail with the light-covering veil for Dave's sake--not that he knew where Dave had gone--he was out like a light, snoozing quietly. Nearby, Cal was curled up into her stone, either sleeping, emulating sleep, or entering some kind of torpor that was her equivalent of sleep. She was never really able to tell, but she did like the feeling.

And yet Owen had been dragged from his bed in silence that night, pulled into darkness and moved to the dorm lounge. In the absolute quiet of the dorms, perhaps midnight or a little earlier, little growls and hisses broke the silence. Something was there, in the center of the lounge. Legend had it that it was an ancient spirit roused by the Blacklight who would feed on the life energy of anybody who passed by at night. At least, that was what Protein said, probably to keep the other Guildmates from causing trouble at night.

But anybody who passed by that night would hear it again. It was real, not just some rumor. There was... something there in the lounge, and the little fire of Owen's tail gave away its location. A shadowy thing. What was it doing to...?

It had been a very strange night. First there were explosions Bahamut chose to ignore. Then, sometime after he'd fallen back asleep in the middle of the residential area, he was getting prodded by what apparently passed as a neighborhood watch and gotten dragged off to talk with a magnezone security official. Apparently, some idiot thought to steal his bag while he was sleeping... but he rolled over in his sleep and crushed the would-be robber. After hours of insisting he really didn't know what had happened, they finally let Bahamut on his way.

So, he couldn't just stay out in the streets anymore. Back to the guild, then. Even if Bahamut's team didn't want him there. There were a lot of things that struck him as off when he arrived. Broken sections of wall and blasted-out work stations. Some custodial signs scattered around. Perhaps someone on his team threw a temper tantrum? Or maybe Brisa and Starr were cat fighting again, but with Blacklight? Whatever, didn't matter.

He slinked off in the lounge's general direction and found it mercifully empty. Bahamut flopped onto a beanbag that was almost the proper size for his hulking frame.

Shield quietly commandeered the Guild lounge. It wasn't that he forced anybody to go away from the room--he didn't have the strength for it--nor was it that he'd yelled at them. It was simply that when the Lucario entered the lounge, the two Pokemon who had been there before--Salamence Protein and Goodra Zinc--felt a horrible aura of negative energy that sucked the life out of the room the moment he had entered.

After saying a few quiet encouragements to Shield, they said that they wouldn't bother him and left. Zinc quietly offered some kind of food for Shield, but the most response they got was a small grunt and a "Thanks." But the words were hollow.

And so, Shield remained in the lounge, in the very middle of the room, flat on his back, staring at the ceiling. The bright walls mocked him.

Starr didn't stop moving until she'd dragged Brisa up from the holding cells and into the lounge on the main floor. It was a bizarre contrast, going from the stark, sterile environment down in the basement to the relaxed, casual air in the lounge. She'd half-expected Brisa to put up more of a fight, but they'd made it without too much fuss. Starr finally released Brisa and then settled onto one of the beanbag chairs, giving her a hard look.

    "You ready to fucking chill?"

Huff. Tails wag. Roll on the back. Another huff. Another tails wag. Stare outside of the window.

“How boooring! Why did they have to spoil my fun?” whined Petram, crossing his forepaws. “All I wanted to do was to see what would have happened if I had half of my tails out of the bubble! Like, would they have been a few hours older compared to the others? Would have I four Ninetales’s tails and the others Vulpix’s tails? How sick would that be?”

Petram breathed out a ball of smoke, while his tails took a brighter shade of purple.

“Ugh! What do I do, then? Daddy seems busy trying to figure out what’s happening to his body and wouldn’t tell me anything, and our friends are already busy.” He sighed and rolled back on his belly. “Hmm… should I go make some new friends, maybe?”

Time went by in what felt like an incoherent blur since Arceus sped up time after Joule attempted to incinerate Destiny Village. Kate had gone to and fro with the rest of Team Spectrum to try and regroup much as the village's shaken inhabitants had tried with their lives. She'd listened in on the strategy session, though it was admittedly a bit hard to follow at times, not that she really wanted to dwell on it right then and there. No, right here, right now amid the somewhat-battered dorm lounge, what she wanted was to sit back on the seat she was freshly claiming, drink the cup of glühwein she'd talked the cafeteria staff into preparing, and push things aside for her to catch her breath for a moment.

    CRACK!

A small section of shingles from the roof above abruptly fell, Kate hastily jerking aside as it crashed to the ground right in front of her seat. A ray of light filtered in from the fresh hole, its faintly purple hue evidencing that it wasn't sunlight, but rather from the glow of Joule's ball of blacklight that was still slowly making its way to earth. The Sneasel flattened her ears in annoyance and set her drink down for a moment to push the blackened chunk of roof aside with a low grumble under her breath.

"Bah. Can't a 'mon catch a break from that fireball outside already?"

Cynthian made his way into the dorm lounge after leaving his trek outside. He could feel Ivy's presence somewhere, but it was hard to pin down her location. Sighing, he decided to just leave her be. Ivy would come to him when he needed her, and he probably didn't need to check up on her to see if she was okay either...

Not knowing what to do in his spare time, Cynthian made himself comfortable on one of the couches. The threat of Joule still hung over them all, but for the moment Cynthian just wanted to breathe a little.

"First things first, I should look at my strategy again," Vix nodded, sitting on a beanbag chair. She clutched a cute lil Litwick doll in her arms, faint sparks of radiance rising off of her. "Any ideas?"

"You're just going from sad to happy to strategizing? Why not just do nothing?" Puddle asked, taking another free beanbag.

"Oh, I am. You're the one that's gonna look through it," Vix snickered. "Since you gotta make up with me and all." Puddle melted over the bag, groaning and hissing, but not objecting. "Thanks, Puddle~!"

    "Bite me..."

"Why would I when you're busy?" Vix cooed. "You just do your thing, and I'll do mines... But it'd be a bit better to relax with someone else." Oh well, it's not like someone was gonna walk in and start talking to her.

Drinks and a chinwag with Icetales was a pleasant way to pass some minutes, but Brisa's muscles and mind still ached. Time to think about an actual rest period back in her dorm. With any luck, she'd be alone—not that Kate was bad company, she just... She was still used to sleeping alone, in silence.

Passing through the lounge, she saw Nip. She hadn't had a chance to congratulate him on a good showing, yet, she should at least do that much—it was simple courtesy anyway, but they were also friends, weren't they? Regular sparring and a moment's small talk were more friendship than she'd had back home, even if it wasn't the closeness she had with, say, Owen.

"Howdy, fella," she called. "Kudos t'ya fer that performance in the colosseum, I gotta say. You gave us a run fer our money, an' no mistake."

Icetales yawned as he walked by the lounge and shook off the last traces of sleep. That wasn't far from the best night of his life, he had to admit. Many nightmares plagued him in his trance, but somehow they had evaporated from his mind when he woke up.

Voices... were they voices of some kind? He couldn't really tell.

"A new day..." he muttered, before narrowing his eyes. "Golly! I wonder how is everyone today. Did my comrades manage to sleep well? Or... sleep at all? Hmm..."

He looked at the sky outside -- dawn. Still fairly early.

"I should investigate and check on folks, but for now I shall see to get myself some breakfast to get some energy pumping."

The Ninetales made his way toward the door when he noticed a familiar shape. He squinted his eyes and gasped when he recognized that dragonian body.

    "Wait. Is it really...?"

Tempest wasn't one to get out much. Though he was polite and friendly to most of the other pokemon and familiars, he'd gotten into the habit mostly just hanging around Nip. Now he didn't even have that.

But that was fine. After all, if Diyem was to be believed, Nip would be back soon. Hopefully. Hopefully in one piece. In the mean time, though, he needed to find things to keep himself busy. For now, he had taken up cleaning up around the dorm lounge. No one liked a messy living space, right? Everyone still around would appreciate it, he was certain, and perhaps the dead would appreciate it when they returned.

He had become so absorbed in the cleaning that he quit paying attention to the comings and goings of the mon around him. Until the larger form of Joule caught his eye. He twitched his tails as a greeting, and finished nosing some of the board games back into a neat pile before speaking.

"Good afternoon, Bahamut. Just passing through or are you here for some down time?"

A teapot brimming with green tea; a couple of cups; some sugar; cupcakes, snow scones, and cookies. Yes, everything was ready for a dainty tea time, worthy of nobility.

Icetales smiled with pride, his tails wagging and releasing a faint mist. If there was something he was good at, it was at organizing tea parties, what with Her Ladyship inviting important noblemons every day. One of the many benefits of learning the ways of a majordomo.

"This is swell. Yes, swell, indeed," chirped Icetales, checking on everything for the umpteenth time. He truly wanted things to be perfect, and even though he knew that Cynthian wouldn't have minded, either way, he really wanted to set the mood.

"Hm. Dost thou think that this looks adequate...?" he asked to Keo'Keo. The Shadow looked away from the window, before shrugging.

"Yes, that should suffice,, answered the Shadow with disinterest, before resuming looking at the window. Not exactly the most reassuring answer, but his flames burned with blue and white light. Both host and shadow were relaxed, which was good.

    "Ah, much appreciated."

Then, the Ninetales glanced around the place, while using two of his tails to tighten his bow and readjust his mane. It was only a matter of time...
