"Well sorry," she tutted, "I was only tryin' to break the ice."
Astrid fluttered her eyelids. “You’re making it very hard to keep my cool right now.”
"Well sorry," she tutted, "I was only tryin' to break the ice."
Astrid fluttered her eyelids. “You’re making it very hard to keep my cool right now.”
"Oh no, I'm not making you freeze up, am I?"
Curio took another spoonful of curry to pump her up. This time, she made sure she chewed it all before swallowing. "You think you're so cool, don't you? You're literally an ice queen. You and me are polar opposites."
Brisa gave a vague, flustered acknowledgment when Astrid returned the compliment. Maybe she meant it, maybe she didn't. Of course, Brisa hoped she did...
She watched the exchange of puns with a growing smile. They were getting along! This was good! Her friends liked each other! She breathed out carefully to steady her chest. This was good, but it was early to be assuming everything would work out, and... they'd be leaving eventually anyway.
Still, she could enjoy it while it lasted.
"I think I'd best be going," she said. "I promised Surf and Turf I'd be back shortly, and I don't want them to think I've got cold feet."
She winked as she delivered her own pun, and couldn't help but laugh. It was her first laugh in... a long time.
Nothing. His mind was as empty as a Shedinja. It all flowed out like a river.
"Er, sorry," Owen said, sitting back down. "The joke slipped my mind."
"I think I'd best be going," she said. "I promised Surf and Turf I'd be back shortly, and I don't want them to think I've got cold feet."
“I suppose I could stand to warm up a bit.” She fanned her face, nose high, embracing her Curio-appointed role of queen in all her mannerisms. “I shan’t have a meltdown, though! Not unless you coax me into unleashing a blizzard of bone-chilling puns. I’ve got plenty more in the freezer.”
"Oh, wow, I'm sh-sh-shivering with fear." She faked chattering her teeth. "Don't worry, you won't catch me slippin' up any time soon, in fact, I'll have you eating yellow snow any minute now!"
Time to shift gears. “Ah. Icy what you did there. Maybe I can’t cold a candle to you after all, Coolio.”
