Giovanni--Giovanni and his Mewtwo--sure did look pretty fucked up.
Nate still wasn't buying it. "Right, sure, take them back to the holding cells that couldn't even keep fucking Karat in," he muttered. Back to the heart of Destiny Village, with Cola and Diyem there, unprotected with the whole team and God Squad occupied way out here. He wanted to suggest somewhere else, but where? Where the fuck on Cibus could you even keep a bastard like Giovanni tied down? Just what in the hell were they supposed to do with him?
"Stay here," he said to Rocky.
"Huh?" The familiar had been ready to step through Maple's new portal already.
"I'm going with those guys. You stay here and help out if anybody needs it."
"But--wait! What are you even going to do, I mean, what if we have to fight?"
"If there's a fight, you help the team here. Like, use items or whatever shit. But I don't like this at all. I don't want to let that bastard out of my sight, after all the shit he's pulled."
Rocky protested, of course, but Nate ignored him, taking off after Truffle and the rest. What could he do against Giovanni and a second mewtwo if they decided to make trouble? Basically jack and shit. But he couldn't just hang around here punching whoever in the face, thinking the whole time that he was playing along with Giovanni's plans. If nothing else, maybe he could at least be there to see when shit went pear-shaped so everyone wasn't stuck guessing after the fact.
Rocky watched Mudkip disappear through the portal with the other group, tail slashing the air behind him. Really. He was so paranoid, all the time. And if Truffle and Potluck couldn't handle it, it wasn't like he'd be able to do anything anyway! He was going to miss out on the fight!
Rocky snorted to himself and turned to follow the others through the portal. Well, whatever. He could still have fun. And when he saw who was waiting for them at the top of the mountain, his flames blazed up high with delight. Oh boy. Oh boy. Mudkip was going to be really sorry he missed this.
"Hello!" Rocky said. "I know you. You're Red! You're famous!" He grinned. Mudkip didn't like Red at all, but this was a different Red, and after all, he was supposed to be friendly! Even if the Red in Mudkip's world... wasn't. "Thanks for beating Giovanni up for us. I can tell you're really strong. Do you want to join our team? We're going to save Cibus. We could really use your help!"

"Are you all dunces?" Bahamut put a wing to his face and shook his head. "He's not looking to fight because he thinks we're his enemies or something. He wants to fight because, Owen impersonator or not, he's a trainer and they live for testing their pokémon's strength against other pokémon."

Red's eyes trailed over to Bahamut, then over at all of the others that were slowly approaching, cautious, ready for any sudden move. Then, he tossed the Poke Ball in his hand forward, which split in mid-air and materialized into--
"Pretty sure I've seen more powerful Charizard here than like seven previous worlds we'd visited combined," Soda remarked.
--another Charizard, this one with a feral look in his eyes and a similar, but smaller black-white flame. Then came a Blastoise, and a Venusaur, Lapras, Snorlax, and finally, the Pikachu on his shoulder hopped off and landed on the other Charizard's head.
"Wait," Owen said. "His flame..."
"What about it?" Soda asked.
"It's... stable. It's not like he's corrupted. No, he--he is, but..."
"But he's holding it together," Maple said, more a statement than a guess.
"Legendary trainer to the very end," Soda muttered. "I think he's letting us beat the corruption out of him and his Pokemon... but not without a fight for it."
Then, making one last look at Bahamut, Red looked to the whole team and gave them a wry, challenging smile.
"...I know you aren't one for fighting for sport," Owen whispered to Bahamut, "but Red might still fall into corruption if we don't beat him here. We need your healing. Can you humor it this time?"

"...I think Red debilitated him badly enough that they can't really fight back for a while," Owen explained to Dave. "That's what Red is saying, at least."

The Chandelure rolled her eyes, a jagged grin plastered on her face. "This is just the thing I needed, a nice little fight to break this body in. I feel like we have a few tricks up our sleeves this time around too," she hummed, a bright violet flame burning from her head.
"And I'm still hopin' I'll evolve from this, Xerneas ain't got shit on this guy!" Puddle cheered.

How strange. Even when they were faced against a two charizards and their cohorts, Cynthian did not feel that morbid fear she once had looming over her. Right, she had changed. She had overcome her old self. This time, she would not falter.
Cynthian coated herself in a dark green aura. It rose off her body like a pillar of smoke before fading away abruptly.
"A famous hero, huh? If it's a fight he wants, then may we provide a suitable challenge in turn!"

This feeling, the tension on the air as the two teams stared each other down, waiting for someone to make the first strike. It was exhilarating.
Nip shifted from foot to foot, hardly willing to stay still as his eyes darted from opponent to opponent. His eyes settled on the pikachu that stood poised. "Are you scared?" He called out to them, as his claws glowed with the light of Assist. "You should be. I've been hunting rodents like you since I was little more than a hatchling! Just wait till I sink my claws into you."
"Careful," his shadow warned, also watching the pikachu. "They're not your only opponent."

Shiron inhaled. With the team back together, he couldn't afford to lose then all over again. He had to help, somehow, someway, in any way that he could.

He clasped his hands together, concentrating on himself, and on his feelings of wanting to help the others. Slowly, his hands were covered by a brilliant water-like substance.
T-This is my new move...? It was soothing, relaxing even. Holding that power in his hands. I can sense it. With this, I can help everyone...
First things first, who would need it? Shiron quickly glanced at the team, and, having decided, released the water. It went high up into the air before being launched at Astrid, Nip, and Bahamut, covering their bodies.
"Don't worry, I got your back! I'll try my best!"
It quickly drained him, forcing Shiron to fall to his knees, but it wasn't over. He had to keep doing it. He closed his eyes and focused, taking deep breaths to help clear his mind of the energy. In. Out. In. Out.
Snapping his eyes open, Shiron prepared the same move again, but this time his targets were different, besides Bahamut. Aside from the dragon, he aimed at Owen and Vix.
"I-I hope this helps, guys!"

Vix and Puddle started shimmering with sparkles of radiance. A sphere of golden wax formed before the two, glistening in the sunlight. "First plan of attack..." Vix began, holding the sphere and tossing it up.
"Make it a pain in the ass to attack us!" Puddle finished, swinging forward to kick the sphere once it was low enough. The wax was sent flying off across the battlefield, coating one Incineroar pretty much instantly. Puddle snickered and grinned. "Hell yeah, first try!"
