Before the storm

Everything had seemed normal at first. Alola seemed to be normal at first, usually it always is. People would go about their business as usual. Office workers going to their sanity destroying 9 to 5 jobs. Store clerks were headed to their jobs, bracing themselves to get screamed at by angry middle aged women, which they don't get payed enough to deal with. Tourists from all across the world flooded the docks and airports, looking to get a taste of the Alolan experience. Kalos, Paldea, Kanto, all but a drop in the bucket of where all these people are coming from.

To some folks, say they had just moved to Alola, all the rush of the islands would seem surprising. Not as much as the large cities of Unova, yet different from the small towns that never seemed to have a rush in Kanto. Alola was a perfect mix of the two.

You could say this doesn't seem normal, but to two trainers, who you could say were brothers that weren't related by blood, this amount of hustle and bustle was perfectly normal to them. Two trainers in an environment completely unique to Alola. They were enjoying staying out of the sun for the day, in a local Cafe. One of them had been munching on a Malasada, while the other had been enjoying some boba tea.

"So." Elio asked.

"Why do you wanna go back home to train with Hala?"

"I've never been able to beat Tutu you know. I should train enough to be able to face him before I fight Nanu."

"I can understand that... do you want me to come with you back to Iki-town? It would be nice to come back home."

"You don't have to." Hau said.

"The last time I fought Tutu, I had lost by a thread. I might only be a week is all."

Elio was quiet for a moment.

"Could you bring some of Halas food then? I've been missing that."

"I don't see why I couldn't."

"Thanks Hau... I appreciate that."

They continued to talk through the evening, laughing at their own jokes, and telling each other family tales. Some of Alolan legend, some of the long gone Khalkan Empire of Johto and Kanto. Great times would be had, telling tales from two different worlds.

Then, when they had their fill, it had been time, and it was time for Hau to head home.

They exited the café together.

"So I guess this is goodbye for now huh?"

"Yeah, I guess it is."

Hau got out his ride pager, and brought out the charizard.

Elio hugged Hau before he would get on.

"I know you won't be gone that long... but I'm still gonna miss you, ya know?"

Hau hugged back. "You'll wait for me here, right?"

"I'll stay on the island until you come back... I have an idea of what to do in the meantime too." Elio let go.

"And what might that be?"

"You'll see, and don't worry. You're gonna love it."

Hau climbed onto the charizard, then soared into the horizon, in the direction of melemele, and Elio stayed where he was until Hau could no longer be seen on the horizon.

"Now then. I should probably head over to that abandoned megamart."

He went and set down his bag to check if he had what he needed.

"Hyper and the few max potions? Check. Revival medicine? Check. My reusable bottle of water and my occasional bottle of lemonade tea? Check. Even got all the ultra balls I need."

"What'd you need them all for?" A familiar voice asked.

I looked up, and it was Gladion, with his Lycanroc.

"Oh, nothing Gladion. Just getting ready to head back to that old store."

"Don't Mimikyu prowl around that area? If you see what they actually look like, you'll die soon after!"

"Oh C'mon Gladie! That's just an urban legend! Besides, it was proven that guy that saw what was under the Mimikyus disguise had a heart problems! Even if it looks scary, there's a chance they don't mean anyharm."

"If you say so. I'll stay close by, just in case."

"Alright then Gladie. See ya later!" Elio grabbed his bag, and went on his way back to the megamart, yet without a map, he'd have to find his way back my memory. Yet at one point, he seemed a bit lost.

"Oh my God... where is it?? It can't have just vanished can it?"

His rotomdex then flew out of his bag.
"You need a hand at finding the original Megamart Bzzt?"

"Oh..." he was scratching his back for a moment.

"I forgot that you had a map in your systems.''

"bzzt, I always did! And the abandoned Megamart is...." it was buffering for a moment.

"Here!" A map of the island was shown, showing where Elio was and where the store.

"Seems we're not that far, no?"

"No we're not bzzt!" Elio got a good look at the map, and The dex went back in his bag. The boy managed to find his way down to the Old Tapu village, and went down to the coastline.

"I wonder. How ancient must this beach be for this sand to be black. Wait, is it volcanic activity or age that gives it this color? Oh well, I'll check that out later."

He continued up the coastline, seemingly trying to avoid all the folks he fought to get to the trial area, and eventually, he made it to the old Megamart.

"Wonder why so many ghosts take refuge here. How many people had to die at the hands of the guardian to draw in these ghosts? Probably better that I don't know that."

Yet soon after he entered the store, there was something going on, that wasn't caused by ghosts. A figure at some kind of small alter, with lit candles and miscellaneous objects being placed on it. It was only when Elio got closer when he realized who it was.

"Acerola?"

She seemed startled, yet got up to greet him.

"Oh, Elio. Didn't expect to see you hear. Why'd you come back? Did you come to pay respects for the dead?"

''No, I didn't even know people did that hear unfortunately. I came hear to catch something for my brother."

"Why's that kid? Is it his birthday or something?"

"No, we're just close. I wanted to get him something is all. Gengar sometimes live around here, no?"

"Yes, they don't come around often though. Seem to feed on what was left after the destruction caused by the Tapu."

"Have you seen them around here at all? Only time I managed to see one was when I was taking photos for the trial."

"Oh really? I've never seen one in the flesh before."

"I didn't see it in the flesh, only through the camera, moving children's toys in the air."

"I see, but who knows? Maybe you're gonna find one. Always seems like you have luck on your side."

"I wouldn't call it Luck Ace, I'd say its just me being prepared for trials?"

"Hm. Whatever you say I guess. Now I should go back to paying my respects."

"Sounds good to me, if I don't find a Gengar, I'm sure I'll find something."

"If you wanna catch anything in here, I'd advise you use this." She handed Elio a small bag of dusk balls before going back to what she had originally been doing.

Hours of searching went by, and through a gengar was never found, but something was found at least. A Mimikyu, one that seemed bigger than usual, but not big enough to be the Totem that Elio had fought for a z crystal. Just larger than usual for the species.

Elio hid behind a couple boxes to stay out of sight, then got ready to throw a dusk ball.

He breathed in deep to stay focused.

"Here goes nothing..." the Dusk ball was activated, then thrown, hitting the head of the Mimikyus disguise, startling it before it was absorbed into the Dusk ball.

The ball then started to shake, yet thankfully, the Mimikyu stayed inside.

"Yes!" He did a slight fist pump before going to grab the ball.

"Don't worry... I know someone you're gonna love." He put the ball in his bag, and made his way to the door. It was dark out now, with a full moon out, reflecting its light on the waves not that far away.

It was like most nights Elio had been out in, beautiful moonlight, cool breeze and all, yet something seemed off. Elio could sense something was off, yet he just couldn't put his finger on it. It could have been due to the place he was at being the sight of alot of peoples deaths, and the presence of many ghosts. He figured that's what felt off. Until he heard rustling coming from the bushes he had been standing by while checking his bag.

"The hell was th-" He yelped as he was grabbed and dragged into the bushes. A hand was put over his mouth so he wouldn't start screaming, and he saw who had grabbed him. Skull Grunts.

"Got the kid sis! What now?" One of them asked.

"Well we need to knock him out... and quickly, before anyone realizes he's gone." The leader of the operation said. She came out of the shrubbery, and Elio recognized her immediately.

"Plumeria??" His voice was muffled, but it was clear what he had said.

"Yes yes kid... now shut up." She pulled a syringe out of a bag, and Injected it into the boys neck.

"What are yo..." he couldn't say anything else as he went limp.

"There. He won't be a problem, at least until we get to the Paradise."

"What does she even want him for?" One of the grunts asked.

"Multiple reasons... one of them has to do with him knowing her children."

"Just because he knows her kids?"

"Not just that Dan! She said he could help find them. If he can't help... well, She said she'll make sure our time won't be wasted."

"Whatever big sis. Lets just get the kid to the boat before whatever you gave him wears off."

The grunt picked Elio like a sack of potatoes, while Plumeria went ahead. Elio meanwhile, was still conscious, just unable to move, and was absolutely freaking out.

'Oh God... what do they want with me?? Did they take my bag? Did Gladion hear me?? Acerola! Is she still in the store?? Did she hear me?? I can't move!'

They came to a boat that was now laying on the beach, and placed Elio in the boat. They got the engine going, and set off into the Alolan Sea.

Meanwhile, Gladion was at the abandoned Megamart, having heard Elio yelp, as he was already close by, where he would soon come across Elios bag.

"Wait... he never leaves his bag like this... especially if its open." He then noticed Elios baseball cap on the ground, and came to a realization. He picked up the cap.

"Oh my God..."

The interrogation

It had been, who knows how long since Elio was brought by boat to Aether Paradise. At least from his perspective. Until what Plumeria had given him to keep him docile had worn off, it was as if time had come to a standstill. While on the motorboat that brought him to the artificial island, minutes seemed to become hours, and hours became days. With what little the boy knew, he had been laying in that small, cramped excuse of a cell for days on end. Things had been no better when he could move.

Crammed in a damp, cold hole with nothing to eat or drink for seemingly days, you'd think someone in this situation would be in alot of pain, of which was caused by hunger and dehydration. Yet in reality, Elio hadn't been dealing with these pains at all. If anything, he'd have to deal with cramps from having to curl into a ball in this rusty little compartment. Even if he wasn't in pain from hunger or thirst, something else was up with him. He had been scared out of his mind.

I mean, almost anyone would be scared if they were dragged into a bush, drugged and put on a boat and brought out into the middle of the ocean with noone to help you? Possibly terrifying to anyone, especially a kid Elios age.

"What do they want with me??" He mumbled.

"What're they gonna do to me?! On second thought... I don't wanna know..."

He stayed in that huddled position, barely able to move, for what felt like a day, until the hatch above opened, letting light flood into the hole, and a hand that was reaching in.

"Grab my hand.''

"W-what?"

"You heard me boy. Grab my damn hand."

Elio grabbed the hand, and was pulled out of the hole, seeing the sun for the first time in what felt like a while. Yet he didn't even get the privilege to stretch, as he had his arms pinned behind his back, and cuffed in chains.

"What do you want with me... sir?"

"I don't want anything to do with you kid. I'm just following orders. The boss wants to meet with you."

"The... boss? You mean the President?"

"Do I look like I take direct orders from her? No kid, I don't mean her."

"Then who are you talking about?"

"You'll see kid... You'll see."

Elio was brought inside the Paradise, and could see the path leading to the manor the president lived. He wondered why anyone would wanna live in such a stark environment, yet he didn't think much more of it after that. He was brought to a room with a window on its outside, and had a table with a bar in its center, and didn't realize what it was for until he was put inside.

The window was a one way mirror, and he was cuffed to the bar in the center, and the man that had brought Elio there had left him there. All he could hear was the sound of a clock ticking, which he saw almost immediately.

4:23 PM, it said. Last time Elio remembered, it was close to 11 at night. Just how long had he been out here in the middle of the ocean? Felt like days since he'd arrived, but he wasn't sure if he really had been on Aether Paradise for that long.

Then, a man came in, interrupting his train of thought. A man in a suit, colors similar to everyone else in the foundation, with a neon green tie, and a cap similar to the rest of the employees working at the company.

"Alright kid... listen up. Are you listening?"

"I'm all ears." Elio said.

The man sat down, pulling out a file, opened it and started to read its contents.

"Mhmm.... ah, so that's what happened to them."

"What is it?"

"They say you can help to find the children of the president. They've been missing for a while."

"How am I supposed to help you people find your Presidents children, I don't even know who you're talking about! And did you really have to drug me to bring me here?"

"Don't ask me why my higher-ups decided what they did, Lusamines decisions are final."

"Whatever you say."

Elio was quiet for a minute or two while the man looked through his files before he spoke back up.

"What makes you think I even know the Presidents children? I didn't even know she had any!"

"Oh really? Hmm... does Lillie and Gladion ring a bell?"

Elio then realized the connection, with how similar the three looked.

"No..."

"Don't lie to me boy!! We've seen you around them throughout the region, and we haven't been able to keep track of them recently! Where are they??"

Elio remembered Nebby was always kept with Lillie, and realized that it might be the one of the reasons they were after Lillie.

"I told you, I don't know! I haven't seen Lillie in a while, and I'm sure as Hell not going to tell you where Gladion is!"

"How disappointing... and here I thought a kid would cooperate without me having to resort to other means..."

He came over to the side of the table Elio was on, grabbed his head, and slammed it into the table, making the boy yelp from how sudden that was.

"You in a more chatty mood kid? Now where were we? Oh right, the Presidents children." Elio noticed that his nose had been bleeding a bit.

"You aren't... getting anything out of me."

"Fine then." He got his head slammed into the table again, making his ears ring.

"Are you ready to talk yet? Or do you want me to do that more? Because I'm willing to do it again, and harder."

"I... won't let you hurt... Nebby."

"Where do you get that Will from boy? Inherit it from your mother? Yes, that must be it, she also refused to talk..."

"What?"

"Your mother used to work for the foundation you see... one of our greatest minds, possibly in all the Region."

"I... know my mother worked for the foundation sir. Why tell me all this?"

"She was just like you, you see. Protective of those he cared about, and strong of will."

"Strong of will?"

"Yes. Strong of will. She never gave up the information. Unfortunately, we had to let her go..."

"If I can't give you the information you need... what will you do to me??"

The man clicked a button.

"You'll see kid. But if you want an answer, I'll say this. If I can't get you to talk, they're going to."

Two Aether employees wearing what looked like hazmat suits came in, grabbed Elios arms, and undid the restraints, meanwhile Elio was resisting.

"Where the Hell are you taking me?!"

"Take him to the labs... that should make him talk."

"Why are you doing this?!" Elio yelled, getting dragged out.

"Lusamine needs that information. She knows what to do either way..."

Elio was brought to an elevator, and soon it began to lower. Further and further the group went, down into the depths of Aether Paradise, where the rather... dark secrets of the foundation were held. What's down there? Elio didn't want to know, but he thought that he would be forced to see them either way, or... put through them.

The sins of the foundation

How long it had been since Elio had seen the sun, he hadn't known. For what he knew, he could have been down there for weeks, maybe even it had been a month. All he knew is that he had been down there for a while, likely a week at most. They were trying to get the information about Lillie, Gladion, and Nebby out of him still, yet he continued to not speak out of their locations. As with what they were doing to him, he couldn't imagine what they would do if they got their hands on the three.

For him though, his questions for them went unanswered, as their questions for him went. Why are they going through all this trouble just to get information on two people? Couldn't they just search for the two themselves? With the amount of funding that the foundation it had, it just didn't make sense to him. They must have brought him here to a different reason, and that interrogation must have been some kind of cover up. If it was a cover up, just what could they be covering up? He had come to only one conclusion.

It must have involved his mother, what else could it have been? The man interrogating him days earlier had brought up his mother, saying that the two were alike, caring for others and being strong of will. She worked for the foundation in years past, Elio remembered that, and remembered that she didn't come home one day. Did the Aether foundation have something to do with her disappearance?

Elio didn't know the answer, yet he suspected they had something to do with it. Did they put her through the same as was being done to him now? He hoped they didn't do anything to her, because if what they were doing to him was anything to go by, it could have been as bad if not worse.

He had been pondering on things like this ever since he was brought to the depths of Aether Paradise, but only today did he start wondering about his mother. Waking up who knows when considering there wasn't a clock in his cell, then starting to think about what that man had said about his mother. Something to get his mind off of how horrific those experiments were, trying to keep himself calm.

"What happened to you Mom?" He mumbled.

"Did they cause you to vanish, or did you just abandon me? No no, she couldn't have... she loved us too much to do that... she must have been taken..."

While he was talking to himself, he could hear a muffled conversation outside his cell, and the door to it then slid open.

"They've got something special planned for you today kid. Do me a favor, and step out of your cell."

"Is it the same as usual?" Elio asked.

"Hell if I know kid, I'm just security, ask the eggheads, not me."

Elio sighed. "Fair enough."

He exited the cell, to find that the guard that opened the door was accompanied by another part of the security team, and he was led down the hall he was brought through time and time again.

"So... have you seen any good movies lately?" One of the guards asked.

"Think I've seen a documentary about the Paldean Inquisition with my girlfriend. Does that count?"

"Documentaries are usually pretty long, so I guess it does. What exactly happened with the Inquisition?"

"Government at the time was trying to get rid of religious minorities and the like. To unite the region under one religion or some shit like that, my memory isn't that good."

"When did that happen exactly?"

"1478. Lasted almost 400 years too, until 1834. Don't know why folks were still like that then when the world was changing drastically at the time.''

"And I'm wondering why people are still experimenting on human beings. Seems we're just as bad now as we were then. " Elio said.

"Shut up boy!"

Soon Elio was brought to a room that looked a bit similar to the room he was interrogated in. It had a mirror, which Elio assumed to be another one way mirror, and all sorts of strange technology lining the walls, similar to the rooms that he had been brought to over the past few days. Yet there was something that he hadn't seen before. On the walls, were blades, and they weren't just scalpels, large blades. Knives, saws, all sorts.

"We've brought your little test subject Faba."

"Good good. Bring him in, we'll handle the rest." Faba said.

"Just what are you gonna do to me today Faba?" Elio snapped.

They grabbed his arms, and shoved him into the lab, and Faba proceeded to grab Elios arms after.

"What're you two still doing here? Ms. President doesn't pay you to stand around!"

"We don't get payed at all Faba."

"Just... go get a beer at the mess hall then! Drinks on my when I'm done with the tests for today."

"Whatever, let's go Brayden." The two left, and one of the other scientists in the room locked the door behind them.

"Now then... I've got something special planned for you boy."

Elio actually looked a bit nervous, beads of sweat going down his forehead.

"What... is it, sir?"

"You'll see... its a, how do I put it? Its a confirmation of our previous tests. You know how you healed rapidly from a broken nose?"

He then began trying to pull away, putting two and two together, with what Faba said and his surroundings.

"No... please!" He actively started to try and get out of Fabas grasp, only to be met by a steel grip.

"You should have thought about that before refusing to give us information! Grab his other arm!"

Another Scientist grabbed his left arm, and they began dragging him towards a bench.

"You can't do this!!" Elio yelled

"This is what is needed for the next step in Lusamines plan!!"

"Do you get some sick pleasure from what you've been doing??" Elio yelled again. The rest of the scientists that weren't man handling Elio onto the bench had looks of concern.

He was strapped onto the bench, and Faba grabbed a blade from off the wrack. A larger blade, which looked more like a machete than anything, a machete with a curved blade.

One of the scientists put their hand on Fabas shoulder.

"Director... don't you think this is going a little far? You're not even going to provide Anesthesia?"

"I am the Director! I will do whatever I goddamn want! We don't even have a stock of Anesthesia!"

He approached the restrained Elio, and grabbed his arm.

"Hold still boy! Makes less trouble for the both of us!"

He raised the blade into the air, and everyone in the room seemed to brace for the impact, all except for Faba as he brought the blade down. They all heard the gut wrenching sound, before they heard the boy scream. Ear-piercing screams from the pain in his wrist, or should it be said, what was once his wrist. But then, something none of them had seen before. Steam, was beginning to emit from the wound where the amputation had taken place. But that's not the strangest part of this, it looked like his hand was beginning to... regenerate? The wrist and palm regenerated, then his fingers. One by one, they regenerated, until his hand looked as if it was always there, except for a mark where the cut had been, and the bloody reminder of what just happened sitting on the floor.

"Eureka! We've done it gentelmen! We've created a method for humans to regenerate from fatal injuries! You there!" He pointed to one of the other men.

"Clean up the mess! I need to phone the President!"

The guy Faba gave the task to began to clean up the bloody mess, removing the bio-hazard that was the amputated hand, all while Faba called the President.

"Yes yes, he's ready for the dipping. No, of course not, he won't be like all those rejects! I can guarantee that he will be able to live through what you intend to put him through, his hand regenerated after it was cut off! You want to be there for it? Now? Alright boss, whatever you say."

He hung up the phone.

"The president wants us to prepare him for the dipping. Wants it to happen very soon, so we need to bring the boy to the room with the vats."

"Dipping?" Elio asked, still freaked out.

"Oh trust me... You'll love it.''

Faba undid the restraints, and without even taking the time to wash off whatever amounts of blood were still on the boys arm, put him in more cuffs, then started to lead him even deeper into the facility. Elio didn't know what they were talking about by dipping, but with how Faba was talking about it, he knew that it couldn't be good. He could hear the ocean just outside those walls, the pressure of the water outside making the metal structures of the Paradise sound as if they were groaning. Elio wondered somewhat if those walls breaking and drowning would be better than whatever was about to happen. He pushed those thoughts down, trying to stay optimistic. Maybe someone he cared about would come for him? They had to notice that he was gone at this point!

Soon, they had made it to their destination, which Elio presumed to be at the very bottom of Aether paradise. The room had felt much more eerie than anywhere else. It was much brighter, with the harsh fluorescent lights hanging above were hurting Elios eyes. Yet even though he couldn't see well due to trying to keep his eyes from hurting, he could see someone else walk into the room.

It took a moment to recognize her, but it didn't take that long. Lusamine, the President of the Aether foundation, who Elio now saw in a whole new light. Why would she let all of this happen?

She came up to him, and grabbed his now bloody arm.

"My my... you actually went through with an amputation Faba? I must say, I admire your dedication to our projects." She let go, and grabbed Elios chin, getting a good look at him.

"So... you're Akaris son... you don't know how good it feels to see you again. Its a shame what happened to her, she was one of our greatest minds. Oh well, good things don't last forever I suppose."

Elio mustered up the courage to speak.

"What do you... want with me?"

"Oh my dear boy, I don't want you. I want what you'll soon become... what I will make you into."

"Please... I just want to go home..."

"Oh my sweet boy... soon you'll want nothing more than to be with me."

She let go of him, and turned to Faba.

"Put him in."

He was dragged to the edge of a platform, and saw a vat just below. A vat filled with a green and peach colored fluids, bubbling and glowing.

The other employees almost stripped him bare until Faba stopped them.

"No, no... let the boy keep some of his dignity. Its the least we can do." They grabbed his arms, and brought him even closer to the edge.

"No... please..."

"Tell that to the president kid."

They then proceeded to shove him into the vat below, with him being dunked inside with a large splash. He was struggling to stay afloat, with sizzling being heard coming from him, all while everyone else just watched.

"Fascinating... this new batch becomes active almost instantaneously. Seems our hard work is paying off..."

Elio had been fighting to stay afloat, going under multiple times yet emerging a moment after. It almost seemed like he was drowning.

Elio tried climbing out of the vat, and seemingly being successful, with his hair now being a mix of black and the same platinum blond as Lusamines. As he tried to grab onto the platform, Faba grabbed his changed hand.

"Did I say you were done boy? Get back in there!" He threw Elio back in, who had now been fully submerged. His hand broke the surface, seemingly covered in marks similar to burns as his hand changed to the same tone as Lusamines, the mark from the amputation fading at the same time. It sunk back under the surface as Elios consciousness faded, surely by now completely changed by whatever this stuff was.

A storm was raging in the Alolan sea. One that seemed as if it had been the storm of the century. Waves moving like flames on the beaches across the region, lapping at the beaches and shores. It seemed as if Kyogre had awoken from the endless abyss of the ocean, and was trying to swallow the world into the ocean. Yet Something else was happening in the region, in the middle of the sea, in the Paradise that refused to sink to the depths, forbidden science you could say.

As it hadn't been long since Elio was dunked in the vats. Shoved into the vats with the bare minimum on, and almost drowning in the fluids he had been dropped into, they pulled him out just before he would drown. Lusamine had seemed to be going head over heels over his new appearance, yet everyone in the room knew that he wasn't finished, especially Lusamine. She knew he was far from done, only past the hard part. The rest of the process would be a walk in the park. As long as Elio would play along that is. But she would leave him for the time being, at least to let her employees get him somewhere more comfortable. At least until they finish altering his appearance.

"Take care of the boy Faba, I intend to visit him later...."

Faba and a couple employees grabbed him, and brought him to the infirmary on the floor they were on, and set him up to stay for the time being. Hooked up to IV fluids, and dressed up in a hospital gown, or at least something which resembled one. Faba stayed with him, waiting for Lusamine to arrive, and she eventually did, as promised. She sat down next to the bed Elio was laying on, and grabbed his hand, having entwined it with her own.

"My my... he's beautiful. All those hours in the labs were worth your time Faba. He's almost perfect."

"Almost, Ms. President?" She held Elios eye open for a moment.

"See for yourself. His eyes are still the same. Same Blue eyes as his mother."

"I see... what should I do Ms. President?"

"What do you think Faba?"

Faba was silent in thought for a moment.

"I see Ms. President... I'll get him ready for the next step."

She then started to play with the boys hair a bit.

"Soon... You'll be perfect like me."

"Oh, by the way Faba."

He turned around before he left the room.

"Yes Ms. President?"

"I want you deal with his family... they'll be loose ends."

"Isn't his guardian the Kahuna of MeleMele?"

"Yes, but that doesn't matter... they must be dealt with for him to be mine, and only mine."

"I understand, I'll inform those miscreants in Po town..."

He left the room, leaving Lusamine alone with Elio.

"My boy... my sweet boy... your pain will end soon enough. Soon you'll be perfect..."

Hours later on MeleMele, Hau and Hala were having an important discussion.

"Tutu, do you think Elio will ever come back?"

"I'm sure he will buddy. It's not like him to just dissappear like that. We don't know much though, foul play could be behind his disappearance."

"What do you think happened to him?" Hau asked.

"If you want my honest opinion, it feels like foul play. Taken suddenly and out of nowhere, and somewhere further away from a settlement? I'm not sure, but it just feels like that."

"I hope he's alright..." Hau added.

"I'm sure the boys alright Hau... the Guardians are watching over him. They saved him from being impaled on rocks going to the Ruins of Conflict. The gods favor him it seems. They won't let him be killed, wherever he may be."

"I hope what you day is true Tutu... it just feels strange with him gone."

"I know someone who had went missing for a long while too Hau. I felt the same way as you, but she eventually turned up."

"Isn't that what happened to Kuku?"

"Yes, that's what happened... damn street gangs in Hau'oli, was gone for a couple weeks. But she was rescued by the authorities in the end."

"You think that could happen to Elio too?"

"Perhaps it could... perhaps it wouldn't. Only thing we can do is pray for the gods to bring him home."

Hau was silent for a minute.

"I just want my brother to come home..."

"We all do Hau. We can only hope."

Later that night, Iki town had fallen silent, and Plumeria and multiple grunts were in the foliage at the edges of the town.

"Alright Sis. What's the plan?"

"Same as with his brother. Except we take him out after snatching him, then his grandfather. Then the kid will have no connections on the mainland."

"Seems a little cruel don't you think sis? I thought we would just rob people, not murder folks." One of the grunts said.

"I'm sorry who's giving orders?"

"Guzma is Sis, and you're giving us his orders."

"Correct. Now get in there and bring that boy back to me!"

They scattered into Iki-town, while Plumeria stayed and lit a cigarette to pass the time.

Hala seemed to wake up around this time, being stirred by noises outside. He assumed it was only some local Yungoos hunting rodents, and had gone to make a coffee. Yet as his Coffee brewed, he continued to hear all the noises outside, and he realized something when it finished. These noises, they weren't made by something, they were being made by SOMEONE.

He was acting with caution now, pulling out the ball containing his Primeape. He went to see if the door was locked, and indeed it was. Yet that wasn't going to stop Team Skull. Glass could be heard shattering, and Hau screaming not long after.

"Hau!!" Hala ran into his room, to find a Skull grunt trying to drag him out the window.

"Tutu!! Help me!" Hala hit the Skull grunt in the head, and grabbed Hau from the grunts grasp.

"You alright Hau??"

"A little scratched up from the glass, but I'm alright... just a bit spooked."

"You'll be alot more spooked in a moment!" The grunt yelled, and whistling noise could be heard going by the twos heads, as a knife soared by and into the wall.

"Shit!" Hala ducked with Hau still in his arms, and tossed out his Primeape.

"Cross chop!" Primeape jumped out the broken window and proceeded to give the skull grunts hell, while Hala went to tell Hau what needed to be done.

"Grandson... I feel that these gangsters mean to do us both harm. I need you to listen to me very carefully, or they could kill me, or possibly you. I need you to go grab your pokémon and get yourself out of here... Kukui might be able to help you."

Suddenly, a Skull grunt appeared behind Hala, with a knife in hand.

"Tutu behind you!!" Hala turned around to get a knife in his shoulder, which he proceeded to pull out and shiv the grunt in the shoulder. More grunts ran into the room afterwards, alongside Plumeria who heard all the chaos and saw that Hau wasn't brought before her.

"Goddamn it Liam! You couldn't even kill an old man??" Plumeria yelled, sending out her Salazzle.

"We've dealt with that little angry ape of yours, its time we deal with you! Dragon pulse!!" The Salazzle roared, creating visible soundwaves with a blue color, knocking both Hala and Hau back.

Hala shoved Hau off of him.

"Get out of here!!" Hala yelled.

"I can help you fight! Can't I not??"

"I can't let you risk your life! Just get out of here Hau!"

Hau thought about sending out Decidueye for a moment, but his mind was quickly changed when he considered the stakes at hand. Why would Hala want him to run? Couldn't they handle all the Skull grunts?

Nevermind that, he had to go. Hau ran out of the house and soon out of the town, with a few Skull grunts on his tail, which he eventually lost hiding in tall grass close to the town.

"I've lost them... thank the gods." He was silent again for a moment, and a faint scream from Hala could be heard.

"I need to alert Kukui... he'll know what to do." Hau stayed hidden in the taller patches of grass to keep out of sight, until he made it down to the beach where Kukuis lab could be found. Wingless could be seen soaring above, with a couple perched on the sides of the extinct volcano, sitting on nests filled with eggs.

"I hope he's home..." Hau said, as he went to knock on the door.

"Professor? You in there??" The Professor answered the door, seemingly in a robe and with his hair not in its usual bun.

"Hau? What're you doing up so late? And so far from home might I add."

"Its Team Skull... they broke into our house, tried to drag me out the window... Tutu told me to run here, I think they killed him..."

"Hala? Dead? Come in, I'll make us coffee, please tell me whats going on then..."

Kukui brews two coffees, with Hau's having extra creamer.

"Now... tell me what happened, as best as you can." Kukui said as he placed the coffee infront of Hau.

Back at Aether Paradise, Elio was no longer in the infirmary, and was just starting to wake up. Somewhere with fluorescent lights as bright as where he was dunked, but there weren't vats where he was now. What it lacked in vats, it made up for in scientists. Men and women in what looked like hazmat suits with the colors iconic to the Aether foundation, White and Gold. Microscopes and Petri dishes dotted the tables around the room. All with the same peach and green goo, with the same ominous glow that they had in the vats. Files littered the room too, but it wasn't like Elio was going to be able to read them. He had been restrained to a table like when they were testing how his body would react to the Pokerús infection.

"...Where am... I?" Elio asked.

One of the scientists looked over to him, one of the few without the helmets.

"Great Sinnoh... he's awake."

"My whole body burns..."

"Yes, that's a side effect of being submerged in FFE5B42FF635."

"FFE what?"

"Nevermind that. You don't need to know what its called."

"Sheldon!" A familiar voice said. "Is the FFE sample ready?" The source of the voice then came into view. Faba.

"Faba??"

"Yes yes Elio... I see you remember me. You sleep well?"

"No..."

"Well I have something to tell you boy... your break is done. The president doesn't think that you're finished, and I for one am in charge of making sure you are."

"I'm... not done yet? What the hell are you doing to me??"

"Hmm I'm not going to say it. I'd rather see your reaction to what you look like when you're finished."

"I'm... really confused."

"You won't be when you're finished."

"Are you done with talking to Lusamines little brat yet? Because the FFE is ready for use."

"Good... good. Let's get him out into the theater, the rest of our division is waiting to see our next test."

Elio could feel the table he was on beginning to move, and he could then see Faba at the end, moving it.

"Where are... you taking me?"

"The theater. Where else would you be brought to at this time?"

"I don't know... I would think you'd bring me to another lab... to cut my foot off or something."

"Not a good idea to give me ideas boy. Just shut up, and we can make this less painful for the both of us, especially you, considering the position that you're in."

He was brought to the Operating Theater, and the table he had been restrained to was placed in the center of the room. Many more scientists were sitting in what looked like bleachers on a balcony, with Lusamine right in the front. Folks that looked like they had authority to their names were sitting in the front. Men and women in white suits, wearing badges similar to those of folks in militaries around the world with higher ranks.

"Ladies and gentlemen, it is an honor for me to host you all today." Faba said, before going silent for a minute, as what he needed was brought into the theater.

"As I'm sure you all know, the children of the President of our great organization left her years ago, after their father dissappeared. Ever since then, she experienced existential loneliness, and recently was refused the information on where they were. Then she had an idea. If she can't bring her old family back together, she would make a new one, a better one. One that wouldn't fall apart, and over the past few weeks, that is what we have been doing. Today, we reach a milestone in achieving that, making this boy what our President deems 'Perfect.' Today, he shall reach perfection by my design. Sheldon, is the FFE ready?"

"Ready sir! Got what you need to keep his eyes open too!"

"Good, give it here..."

He was handed forceps, which he used to keep Elios eye open.
Faba was then handed a syringe filled with a clear fluid, and Injected it into Elios Carotid artery, once again making him go limp.

"There. That should let us go through with this procedure." Faba said.

He grabbed a vial of the peach and green fluid, and grabbed a new syringe. He proceeded to open up the vial, then sucked the fluid into it.

"Now boy... an intravitreal injection won't hurt a bit. What this syringe contains though, that will be a different story if our previous... rejects say anything."

Elio could only watch as the syringe went closer to his eye, until he couldn't see it in his direct like of sight. He felt a slight pinch as the syringe went into his iris, and a slight puff of steam could be seen coming from the eye. He proceeded to do the same with the other eye, and the FFE from the two injections seemed to kick in all at once.

Elios eyes were burning, as intensely as when he was dunked in the vats, as the same stuff was injected into his eyes. Faba did nothing but watch, as his eyes shifted from a sapphire blue, to an emerald green. Elio was breathing heavily by the end, having just gone through great pain as his eyes changed color.

"We've done it gentelmen! Are countless hours of work haven't been for nothing, this boy won't have to be terminated like our previous rejects!" He undid the restraints, and picked Elio up, who was currently silently freaking out as his eyes ached.

"I will make sure that he is comfortable Ms President!" He was looking up at Lusamine when he said that.

He then handed Elio to his men.

"Make sure the boy is properly clothed when he's put in the Presidents mansion. We want our little 'guest' to be comfortable, do we not?"

Elio slowly faded from consciousness as he was taken out of the theater, oblivious of what was come in the coming weeks.

Elio had been thrown back into the hole. How long he was there, he hadn't been sure, as he had woken up crammed inside. The floors were covered in water from the storm that had recently gone over, and even though he was thirsty, he couldn't bend down to drink. The space was too small for him to move, so all he could do was huddle in a ball, and wait for what was to come. What had they done to him? His whole body ached, and his eyes had felt as if they were on fire only a moment ago. He could remember they injected something into them, something that had a glow to it. It reminded him of something he had seen in media, some sort of Virus, but he remembered the way they talked about it, he felt like it wasn't a virus.

He wondered where his loved ones were, and what they were doing. Did Hau know what happened to him? Was Hala coming to save him? Was anyone coming to help? He couldn't be sure. For all he knew, with how long he was gone, they might think he was dead. Lost to the winds, to the ghosts of the megamart, or maybe they knew it was Team Skull behind it, but they thought they just killed him. He knew Elio wouldn't act like that though, like him he kept hope. Hope that one day, hopefully sooner than later, he would be saved from this hell. A hell in the middle of the ocean. All that could be done to pass the time was sleep, as what else was there to do when you were crammed into a tiny dark hole?

Nothing else, that's what.

He continued to ponder, even if it made his head hurt, did Gladion figure out he was taken? He had said he would stay close by... Elio hoped that he kept his word. Elio always kept his word with Gladion, surely he would want to return the favor, at least that's what Elio hoped. Lillie? He had almost sacrificed himself to save Nebby, she said that her gratitude couldn't be known. Would she return the favor. Thinking about those two made him think about something else, his interrogation.

He was told that they were the children of the president. Why did they flee from her? Yet considering everything she had put him through, he was no longer surprised to the fact that they ran away from home. Soon he wondered how much longer he was gonna be in the hole, when the hatch above opened back up. The soft glow of moonlight flooded into the hole, and the shadows of multiple figures which loomed overhead.

"Please... just leave me alone."

"Oh my boy, I'm afraid we can't do that." A voice said, which Elio was able to recognize almost instantly.

He felt multiple pairs of arms pick him up, and throw him onto the metal floor of the Paradise, hearing a crack in his shoulder, and those that grabbed him saw steam coming from his arm.

He didn't scream, barely having the energy at the moment to speak, with only a soft hiss coming through clenched teeth.

"Faba really did work some wonders on you..."

She seemed to step forward to do something, but changed her mind at the last second.

"No... its not appropriate at the moment."

Elio tried to get back up, only to be knocked to the ground, almost landing on his shoulder, but landing on his back instead.

"Why... why are you doing this??"

"Don't blame me Elio... blame my two children."

"What... do they have to do with this?"

"I've had to replace them... even you can understand that?"

"You're... a monster..."

"Hmm... you may think that now, but I will change your mind." She grabbed his chin.

"I will make sure of it."

She threw Elio back to the ground, and steam could be seen coming from the back of his head. Meanwhile, his vision had gone blurry, and his ears began to ring.

"Bring him to my manor would you? He is our guest after all."

The employees went to grab him again, and when he tried to resist, he got hit in the head once again, this time from being struck instead of falling.

Elio could hear Lusamine going on about Lillie and Gladion as he was brought to the manor, yet he couldn't make out what was being said. He didn't want to hear, didn't want to know. He hoped they weren't being experimented on like he was, before he faded from consciousness.

In his dreamless sleep, he began to hear the voices of his family. His biological family.

"I'm sorry Akira... we can't stay in Kanto. We need to go back to Alola, the foundation has an important project that they need me to work on."

"Why did you even join up with the Aether Foundation in the first place? From what I've heard, they're extremely cutthroat!"

"They needed great minds! Besides, they say they will help lead mankind into the future! Same as the other huge companies around the world!"

"Wouldn't it be better for the twins to stay with their father? They've gotta be causing tons of sleepless nights!"

"Their father doesn't get a decent pay! I'm the only one out of the two of us that makes a decent living!"

He could then hear his mother speaking to him and his sister.

"I'm sorry you two had to hear that... we need to go back to Alola. I know, I wish we could stay here longer, but my boss wants me to come back early. Some kind of project she especially needs me for. I'll make sure we can come back eventually, I promise."

Nobody said anything for a moment, and his mother broke the silence.

"Elio? Elio, are you there? Earth to Elio?"

"Mom?"

He heard a bit of a chuckle. "Did the prototype really work that well? I'll have to promote Faba for this."

Elio was awake now, yet didn't open his eyes, afraid of what he would see if he did so. The burning feeling had remained, even if it had died down a small amount. He mustered up the courage, and opened his eyes to the smallest extent, to where it could barely be made out. He wasn't back in those labs, or put back in the hole. He was put in a bed, an actual bed with a white comforter. It would remind him of home if it hadn't terrified him so much. Why had they suddenly change their attitude towards him? Was this their way of recompense for what they did to him? Or was this some kind of new test? If so, what for? What was the goal of this test?

He didn't want to know, and was about to get up and make a run for it, maybe give it a go of stowing away on a boat, when he felt restraints all over his body. On all his limbs and over his waist, he was trying to break free out of desperation, when he felt something else and gasped. Fingers, cool to the touch, on his hand.

"I have to say, you're the best thing that Faba has worked on. You're so beautiful..."

Elio felt a rush of Adrenaline, then began to scream. Screaming for help, for his family. Hau, Hala, Lillie, Gladion, Selene, anyone... but noone would come. He would stop screaming, throat sore and out of breath, he began to hyperventilate, not answering what Lusamine had just said.

"Elio... please calm down. My hospitality isn't that bad, is it not? We've given you your own room."

"You... you were torturing me... you put a needle in my eyes... I... I..." it was almost as if he was having trouble breathing.

"Elio... don't you see? It was, and will be worth it in the end. You're perfect now... like me." She leaned over and placed her hand on his cheek. "Elio..." He could sense twisted admiration in her voice.

He was silently crying to himself, afraid of calling for help again, afraid of what Lusamine would do if he did. Lusamine was still stroking his face as if it was silk.

"Please... give us a chance. Give me a chance."

"I just want to go home... please... let me go home."

"I'm afraid it's too late for that. Too late for you to leave us... you don't even have a home to go back to..." She placed her hand on his, a form of reassurance in a way.

"Elio... you're special. You're the only one that has made it through the augmentations with the FFE and the Pokerús completely and live. I saw to it that Faba led the projects. And look at you now... perfect. Unlike all the past rejects. I made sure you survived by appointing Faba to do this."

She let go of his hand, and walked behind the bed in a casual manor. Elio could hear things moving, and saw a shadow loom over him.

"I feel like it's time for you to see the fruits of our labor." She lowered a hand-held mirror infront of his face, and it seemed as if time stood still in that moment.

His skin had been bleached white to the same tone as Lusamine and her two kids. His eyes had lost their Sapphire blue color, having been changed to an emerald green thanks to the injections, with a slight yellow tint. His hair, once as black as a Corviknight, was bleached as well to Lusamines platinum blond color. He wasn't himself anymore, he was now the son Lusamine had wanted for the longest time, ever since Gladion had ran away. He looked like a completely different person to what he once was. You'd probably think that he wasn't even Elio, if you didn't hear his voice or look closely at his face.

"Well Elio? Do you like it? This is a chance for you to start anew..." She looked proud of her little accomplishment, with a smile on her face and a prideful look in her eyes.

She seemed to want him to be happy, while Elio was anything but. He was horrified, disgusted even, yet he was too scared to say this. What would Lusamine say? What would she do? Elio didn't want to know.

"Elio?"

His eyes met her, seeing kindness in them, as if she cared for him. Did she actually care for him? Did she really care about Lillie and Gladion? That doesn't matter now. What matters is that he kept himself safe the best he could, even if he... couldn't do it before.

He shoved the memories down of his old life, acting as if he wouldn't escape. If he wanted to keep himself sane he had to. Memories of Hau, Hala, Lusamines children, shoved to the back of his mind where he couldn't think about it, and finally spoke.

"Mother..."

Lusamine looked even more prideful, Elio could sense the smug feeling that she gave off. Did she finally have what she wanted? Was he "perfect" in her eyes now?

"I know what you're thinking Elio, I can see it in your eyes. Are you finished? Unfortunately, you're not. Soon though... You'll be complete. Soon you'll be mine."

She brought her hand back to his face, and he let her do it, not wanting to make her angry. He knew what he had to do to be safe, and if it was this, he was willing to do so.

'Act subservient, and everything might turn out okay in the end.' Is what he thought, as Lusamine took her hand away.

"You're on the final stretch now... there's not much left for us to do. Quick and easy for us, but... painful for you." The tone of her voice actually sounded sympathetic.

"What're you gonna do to me?"

She put a finger to his lips, as if to shush him.

"Its a surprise, for both you and me..."

An interesting proposition.

Over the past week, Alola had been recovering from the storm that had hit it barely a week earlier. The national guard was helping to save those trapped on the top of homes in the communities that were flooded. The Red Cross helping those who lost their communities to the storms, giving them sanctuary and paying jobs. Some folks were bent on protecting their homes and businesses, forming small militias to protect their communities from roaming bands of Team Skull and Looters. Oddly enough, only one island seemed untouched by the storm.

MeleMele remained mostly untouched by the storm, and many of the refugees from the other islands came to MeleMele to save themselves from the chaos of the aftermath. One of the Kahunas came to help with the refugees since Hala had dissappeared. Nanu was the one helping the Red Cross with the refugees, while the other two Kahunas and the trial captains were helping with rebuilding.

Even the Aether foundation was helping to provide relief to the people. It was helping to improve the peoples image of the foundation even more, as an organization dedicated to the well being of both pokémon and humans. Nothing could possibly be going on behind the scenes, could there?

Oh what little the common people knew. Something was indeed going on behind the scenes, and not just what was happening with Elio, though it was involved. A trade deal so to say. Faba had made some connections during his time as the head of the science division of the Aether foundation. Connections that would now finally be put to use.

At Aether Paradise, a helicopter could be seen coming into view from the East. A helicopter that the higher-ups of the Foundation had been expecting the arrival of, and had already made preparations for. When the helicopter had landed at its designated docking area, it was Faba who was waiting to greet those on board it.

2 men and one woman stepped off the helicopter, seemingly surprised by the soft sea breeze.

"Welcome my friends! I suppose that the trip from Kalos was a swell one?"

"Yes... indeed it was." One of the men said, fixing the frill from under his jacket.

"Alola has a beauty that won't truly be seen for a long time after this storm, wouldn't you say so too?"

"Yes sir. I suppose so." Faba said.

The other man approached Faba and shook his hand. The man was pale, deathly pale. Honestly he had looked like a corpse. Had a goatee and a red suit and tie as well.

"It is good to see you again old friend."

"You say you know this man Xerosic?"

"Yes my Lord. We go way back. Before Team Flare formed and disbanded infact."

"Who's that?" Faba asked, pointing to Xerosics so called "Lord."

"I am Lysandre. Former... leader of Team Flare. The rest of the world thought that I had died after the Ultimate weapon years ago. The thing was, I was buried under the rubble under the weapon for years. Made immortal by the power of the God we had used to power the Ultimate Weapon, I was down there in great pain from the rubble crushing me. I was only freed thanks to the countless hours of work from Xerosic here." He placed his hand on Xerosics shoulder.

"It turns out that the government wouldn't care if we were digging at the remains of Geosenge. Since the Ultimate weapon could not longer be powered, it was no longer a threat to the world. Don't ask me why they didn't try to reverse engineer it or anything like that because I have no idea."

"I see... how is it possible something like that could make you immortal?"

"The energy that the Ultimate Weapon used is a refined version of the energy inside Mega stones, the life-force of pokémon and humans. It seemed as if I had that energy infused with my body... making me immortal."

"Whatever. Come you three, we have work to do."

"Is this why you needed this?" Xerosic asked, pulling out a blueprint.

"Yes old friend. Follow me, I know someone that you will want to meet."

They followed him from the Helicopter pad, and went inside Lusamines mansion, where both her and Elio had been residing. They came to Lusamines office in the back of the mansion, where they presumed she would be. Faba knocked on the door.

"Come in..." Lusamine said.

Faba opened the door and peaked in.

"Ms. President?"

"Yes Faba?"

"There's some people here to see you."

"Send them in."

Xerosic walked in alongside Faba and Lysandre as well asthe woman they came with.

They saw that Lusamine was writing some kind of document, not taking her eyes off of it.

"What might that be Ms. President?"

"Its my autobiography, or a draft of it at least. From my childhood, the founding of the Foundation, to that incident with the Ultra Beast recently."

Lysandre made his presence known, clearing his throat.

"What is i-" She seemed shocked when she saw who it was.

"Lysandre??"

"Yes, yes I know. You thought I had been buried alive under Geosenge town after the Ultimate weapon was fired?"

"Yes... I... how are you alive? Nobody could have survived being crushed by rubble like that!"

"I can show you. Hand me that pen of yours."

"What for?"

"Just hand it to me."

Lusamine handed Lysandre her pen, and he proceeded to hold it in an iron grip. He rose it into the air, and jammed it into his hand, HARD.

He then revealed the palm that seemed to be impaled had no mark on it at all!

"The ultimate weapon has made me immortal. That is how I survived. I had remained trapped under that rubble for years, until my men dug me up."

"That is incredible. But why has Faba brought you before me?"

"My friend here says he can help you with your little predicament. Team Flare is, or was, capable of wiping someone's mind." Faba said.

"Do explain."

"I think that we should show you before we explain how. Byrony, I will need your assistance here." Xerosic asked.

"Yes my Liege..." she said in a monotone voice. She approached Xerosic.

"22-47, initilizatory reset. Authorization code Zeta-5-3-Kilo."

"I..." She slumped over, seemingly unconscious but not falling over.

"My my... how did you do that?"

"We had a couple codes programmed into her head after wiping her mind. Say she hears that one again when she's awake, she'll go out like a light."

"I see... how will we wipe my boys mind?"

"Damn no need to be subtle huh?" Faba mumbled, before going to explain what he and Xerosic had come up with.

"We connect a device to his head, then we show him memories of his past, that is if the research we've done is correct. Pokémon he trained, sights of the locations the trials he's gone through took place at, his friends and family, all of it. We find the nerual connections made in his brain with that device when he sees those images, and cut it like a hot knife through butter. All those memories will be swept out like dust in the wind."

"That sounds awfully dangerous. What if it goes wrong? You know that Neurons can't duplicate!"

"I am well aware of that Ms. President. But humour me here. If he was able to regenerate his hand after it was amputated, don't you think I
He will be able to regenerate lost Neurons too?"

"I suppose so..."

"After we eliminate all of his memories, your... dare I say it, experiment..."

It was clear that Lusamine had become obsessed with Elio ever since he was brought to the Paradise. Obsessed by what he had and would become. Faba was disgusted by it, many folks working on the project were. They had kept their opinions to themselves, Faba made his opinions more well known, even if Lusamine didn't approve.

"He'd be a husk of his former self. If you want to go further, an emotionless shell like the girl."

"How exactly will he be different from the girl?" Lusamine asked.

"He'd still be himself and still have his emotions. Though that can all be changed if you desire." Xerosic added.

"With my own improvements, he could even have false memories planted into his head. He could truly believe that he is... your son."

Lusamine started to fidget with an ink ereaser she had on hand.

"Will this make him perfect? He HAS to be... he must be. Not like those who rejected my love."

Faba shuddered out of disgust, while Lysandre seemed intrigued.

"If you don't question what I will do with him, I won't question how you will make him mine."

"I understand."

"I want to see the blueprints soon. Prove to me that my boy will be alright."

She was staring at a spare pen that she had, one with the logo of the foundation. Her vision went out of focus, and she saw two Logos. Two leaders of the foundation at different points in time. Her, and Elio. Leading one of the world's leading humanitarian organizations. Leading the world into the future.

"How long until you have it done?"

"With my best calculations, I'd say three weeks at minimum." Xerosic said.

"I'll give you a week."

"But Lusamine, there's a grand chance the procedure will be faulty!"

"I don't care! I want him to be mine and he will be mine! I won't take no for an answer!"

Lysandre placed his hand on her desk.

"I will ensure my men will do whatever needs to be done. No need to worry."

They all left her office, and she left a few minutes later after thinking things through. She came to the room Elio was being kept in ever since the injections. He'd been sleeping peacefully, having been put under Anesthesia. Reason being was to try and keep his mental state low, as even if his will hadn't been broken, it was lowered significantly. For if he were awake, he'd be able to come to terms with his new appearance, no matter how long that may be. His fear had to be strong, and the look in his eyes that Lusamine saw were of great fear. Fear as well as disgust. He realized why her two children had left her years earlier, and he thought they had made the right decision.

Any more pain he could be put through would hurt her as well now that she saw him as her own. After all, why would she let something, no, someone so beautiful to be harmed? Something like that happening to him would hurt her soul. Though she had the mental fortitude to let him only be harmed so he could be as perfect as her, mind and body. Unlike those who left her, who she deemed perfect in body but not in mind, he wouldn't want to flee from her.

She sat next to his bed which he was still strapped into, and took his hand. Even under the Anesthesia, his porcelain hand interlocked with hers.

"Can you hear me Elio?"

Silence.

"Your pain won't last much longer..."

Still silence from Elio, his breathing being the only thing heard coming from him.

"I won't let them cut off your hand again."

A slight whimper could be heard as his grip grew tighter."

"I promise."

The humanitarian efforts made to help the Alolan people seemed to have made minimal results, considering that the islands were still flooded, there wasn't much that could be done to make larger efforts. Sure, homes were being rebuilt, and militias protecting their homes and businesses, but what about those who went unaccounted for? Yes, refugees were being taken to MeleMele, but there were always people that weren't accounted for. Homeless folks, people swept away by the floods, not many if them were unaccounted for, but it certainly did happen occasionally.

Yet Something was done for those that went unaccounted for just after the storm. Camps made in the areas that weren't flooded around the islands. Less campsites, more tent cities you could say. Tent cities all around the region, where all those who couldn't make it to MeleMele took up residence, at least for the time being. A place to rest after the storm ravaged their lives, to wait for the flood waters to recede. Yet in these tent cities, life seemed to go on as usual. Children played in the "streets." Street vendors gave out food, trainers battled and trained their pokémon, it seemed as if the storm hadn't ravaged the region at all.

Two siblings had been staying at a tent city on Mount Hokulani, stationed around the observatory at the peak of the Mountain. People that Elio had known, the Aether siblings.

Lillie was sitting in a tent with Nebby next to her, holding Elios baseball cap as Gladion came back in.

"Gladion?"

"What is it?" He seemed to be in a bad mood.

"You ever wonder what happened to Elio?"

"Every day I do. Why else would I be trying to figure out who took him?"

"No other reason I guess."

She pulled a photo out of her bag. It was of her and the two Kahuna brothers, Elio and Hau, enjoying themselves at a restaurant in KoniKoni back on Akala. Before hard times came to Alola. Hau had been enjoying a meat lovers meal, Elio had the same, but he was actually looking at the camera. He was smiling and doing a peace sign for the camera. Lillie had a small smile while drinking a cup of Boba tea.

"I miss him..."

"I do too... thats why I'm trying to find out what happened."

"We're gonna give him back his hat when we find him, right?"

"Yes, of course we will."

Gladion left the tent, mumbling to himself as he went, while Nebby tried to help with Lillies mood.

"Pew?" It got itself under her hand.

"I'm alright Nebby... just in a bad mood."

Nebby chirped in curiosity, wondering why she was in a bad mood.

"Its just... Elio. Gladion said he dissappeared, and all he found was his bag and his hat..."

Nebby crawled under her hand, as if to try and make her feel better.

"Pew!" That got a bit of a chuckle out of Lillie.

"I appreciate the efforts..."

A few hours later, Lillie and Nebby were in line for food, with Nebby hiding in Lillies bag. The red cross was giving out the annual food rations, with two officials of the Island challenge who worked in the observatory lending a hand. Rations were mainly Military MREs that the government gave the Red Cross access too. Chili and Marconi. Freeze dried candies as well for the little ones. Fruit Pieces, gummies shaped like pokémon, though you couldn't really call them gummies anymore. They were more like popcorn you could say.
Better than nothing at least, no? Lillie grabbed a chili packet, and a freeze dried candy pack. Something sweet could help with Gladions mood, he did have a sweet tooth after all.

She handed him the bag when she found him, apparently smoking a cigarette.

"What are you doing that for??"

"What're you talking about Lillie?"

"You know thats unhealthy!"

"What, this?" He pointed to his cigarette.

"Yes!"

"Can't you find another way to relieve your stress?"

"We don't have much to do... and I've been worried sick about Elio. Not much to help relieve stress I guess..."

"Well I've got something for you... can you put that thing out then?"

"Fine..."

He dropped the cigarette, and stomped on it to put it out.

"What was it?"

Lillie handed him the freeze dried Gummies.

"What is this stuff?"

"Gummies, they were just freeze dried. Heard they're like popcorn."

They were silent for a few minutes, sitting on a rock, observing Mount Lanakila in the distance.

"How long do you think it would take to climb to the summit on foot?" Lillie asked.

"A while I bet. Heard there's alot of powerful pokémon there too. Professor was trying to organize an Alolan Pokémon League there. Now its just another Tent city like here."

"By the way, I've been meaning to talk to you about something." Lillie asked.

"Hm?"

"Don't you ever wanna leave this tent city? It isn't really the nicest place to live."

"I do, believe me. But where would we go? The hotel I've been staying at has closed from the storm." Gladion replied.

"I've actually had an idea when it comes to that."

"Oh?"

"We could stay with the professor. We won't have to eat Rations every day, and we get to sleep in actual beds! Won't have to hide Nebby either..."

Nebby then came rushing out of the tall grass, covered in dust, and a group of Minior could be heard giggling to themselves further in.

"Pew!"

"Can you please not do that!?" Lillie asked.

Gladion seemed to get a good laugh out of what just occurred.

"That thing can teleport, remember? That's probably why it gets out of your bag so much."

"I sometimes forget... can you not call Nebby a thing please? It's a living being." Lillie asked, as she got the Cosmog back in her bag.

"Cool with me. Still though, Nebby is hilarious sometimes."

"True..." They headed back to the tent city to gather their things and head to MeleMele.

Hours later, Lusamine had gotten a large pile of documents.

Almost 100 pages of documents about the procedure that would make Elio "hers." 113 pages, packed with information about the procedure. Even a small blueprint of a prototype, with sketches of how it would work. She had to admit when she saw Faba again, she had been impressed by the work that he and Team Flare had made in such little time.

She seemed to be convinced that their work would bring Success, if the state if Byrony was to say anything. He could be whatever she wanted him to be. Unlike Lillie and Gladion, he would be a completely blank state. Yet Fabas notes seemed deranged to her, she didn't think that he was possibly insane. She thought that he actually had sympathy for Elio, how little that may be.

Faba may have been deranged, but so was her goal. What would be done would cause the boy great pain, he'd need to be awake for it too. But with the extent of the mental conversion she had planned for him, she thought the ends justified the means. A son who wouldn't run away. A son who would actually love her back. A son who would have similar interests to her. An heir to the Aether foundation. Her heir. The thought of an actual Heir to her empire seemed tantalizing, yet she knew all was within reach.

That reminded her, she had meant to pay Elio a visit, this time when he was awake. A way to get him familiar with her, and being a part of her new "family."

She waited for him to wake up, and watched out of site as he shook off Oblivions grasp. He had seemed to go into a coughing fit, which quickly subsided as he woke up completely. There was no fooling him this time, he remembered where he was. Dragged from the hole and into the mansion, and seeing his new... appearance.

Those piercing green eyes stared at a clock on the wall infront of him, watching as time passed by. How long had he been out? Hours? Days? Weeks? He hadn't been sure. He attempted to escape again, this time trying to squirm out of his restraints, only to find that they were too tight to squeeze out of. He didn't even know what he would do if he somehow got to the mainland. Would Hau and Hala still see him as family? Would anyone that he cared for see him for what he really was?

What about Gladion and Lillie? What would they see him as? A tortured soul who's life was ruined by their mother? A shell of who he once was? Their new "sibling?" He looked just like them after all now, it would be easy to mistake him for being their younger brother.

"What am I now?" He mumbled, voice trembling.

"You're beautiful, like me." Lusamine said, coming into view.

Elio began trembling, seemingly trying to keep himself together. Tears could be seen in his eyes, yet he was trying not to cry.

Lusamine wondered why that was. Why was he upset at the gift she gave him? To be as perfect as her.

He could be heard mumbling to himself, why did it have to be him? Out of anyone, why him?

"Elio... its because you're important." She sat on the edge of his bed, grabbing his hand. "You remember all of what I told you when you first arrived?"

He could sense that she had wanted to place her hands all over him again, yet was barely keeping herself from doing so. Yet he realized that she probably did that who knows how much when he was under Anesthesia. Hell, it made him feel sick thinking she did that.

"I don't understand... out of everyone you could have done this too... why me? Why did I have to endure all this?" Elio asked.

"Lillie and Gladion... they were both very close to you. Gravitated almost. They were very..."

Her breathing became shallow for a moment.

"Difficult. My mental health was on the decline after my husband dissappeared. Gladion said I was driving myself mad... trying to find him. They both fled, one by one. One for my supposed madness... the other left to protect that little puff of space dust."

"Nebby..." Elio murmured.

"Oh? She named it? Thats adorable."

"Is this all because I know Lil-"

She placed a finger over his lips.

"Shush... I know the names of my children... no need to tell me."

"Whatever..."

Elio just closed his eyes, not wanting to see himself or his tormentor. He wanted to find a way to refuse her, but what could he do?

"You're just like them, did you ever realize that? You and Gladion are similar in more ways than you'd know... you both have that sarcastic additude when you're upset. Don't worry though... You'll be perfect like me soon. In both mind and body."

Elio swallowed a lump in his throat upon hearing that.

"What're you gonna do to me?" Seemed clear he was trying to repress his fear, but wasn't doing it well as his voice was shaking. "What do you mean, mind and body?"

Lusamine seemed confused. "I mean, it seems rather obvious, is it not? Look at what I've molded you into."

"It sounds like you..." she went out of sight for a moment, grabbing the mirror. "Show you what you've become again?"

"No... no... please..." he was trying to break free of his restraints again, once again finding they wouldn't budge.

"NO-"

"Hush Elio... just calm down, no need for yelling." He looked away from the mirror infront of him, eyes locked shut, with his breathing becoming shallow.

"You've been gifted Elio... to be as perfect as me. Soon you'll be given more gifts from my foundation... some you couldn't imagine.

"I never wanted to be as perfect as you... I never asked for this to happen."
He looked as if he had actually started crying.

"I... I just want to go home..."

Lusamine looked away, perturbed by what Elio had just said.

"You..." She took the mirror, and gazed into it. What she saw was perfection, or at least what she thought perfection was. Why? Why didn't he accept the gifts she had given him? Why didn't he appreciate it? He was perfect like her, he could inherit her wealth, her empire, her position in the foundation... all of it. Why didn't he like that?

"You... you're JUST LIKE THEM!!" She threw the mirror at the wall, and the sound of it shattering echoed through the room.

"You never wanted to be perfect?? To have a loving and caring family?? To have riches and fame!?"

"I already have a family!" Elio snapped, shrinking into the bed he was trapped in. He was trying to stay away from the insane woman only feet away from him, though he couldn't get far at all.

She grabbed the shards from the broken mirror.

"I MADE YOU THIS WAY! I GAVE YOU A GIFT!!" She held the largest in her grip, as the rest fell through her hand. One even made a gash in her hand, she didn't care.

She marched over, grabbed the back of Elios neck, and leaned forward to see eachother in the shards reflection.

"LOOK AT US!! YOU AND ME, WE. ARE. PERFECT!!"

Elio was trying to squirm out of her grasp, seeing the fear in his own eyes and expressions only made him more determined.

"Get off of me!! Please!!" He was watching himself plead, he could see all the emotion in his wide green eyes. Fear, anger, disgust, a hodge podge of emotion, swirling in them. Lusamine changed her grip, and began choking him, and Elio realized something when he learned he couldn't get free. This might be a better fate for him than what she had in mind for him. "Perfect in mind and body." He was supposedly Perfect in body but not in mind, as he was still himself. He could die as himself, but was death even a possibility for him? He hoped so, as he stopped resisting. She went to thrust the mirror shard into Elios neck, and he closed his eyes, bracing for the end.

But then, she stopped. She was frozen in place, and Elio could see the horror in her eyes. She dropped the shard to the ground, and Elio could feel the pressure on his neck dissappear. The same hand that was on his throat moments earlier was now caressing his face, and was covered in the blood from the cut on Lusamines hand. It made it look as if Elio was wearing war paint similar to the tribes that inhabited Galar in ages past.

"I'm so sorry... I'm so sorry... I should have kept you asleep."

She leaned him against her chest, and was petting his hair, all while Elio wasn't doing anything, seemingly shell shocked by what just occurred.

"I... it will only be a week. It'll all be over, no more pain... I promise."

Elio managed to muster up the courage to actually say something.

"What do you want with me? You never answered me earlier..." He wasn't pulling away from her grasp.

"I didn't want anything with you... I wanted what you have... and will become. You. Will. Be. Mine..." What she had said sounded predatory in nature. Elio couldn't tell if she intentionally said it that way, but he didn't want to know.

"You'll understand once you're complete."

"I will... Lusamine."

"Elio, call me mother. You've already done it before..."

"I'm... sorry mother."

He was silent for a few moments before speaking up again.

"Please mother... put me back to sleep. Until I'm... perfect." He felt like he was going to be sick saying that, but if he could escape, that's what he was going to do. Hopefully, the next time he was woken up, he'd be allowed to get out of the bed. He could run for it, maybe kill Lusamine if he had to... he could only wait to see what happened.

"Of course my son... close your eyes. It will only be a moment." Elio did as he was told, and he could feel something go over his mouth and nose. Then soon, he was in the grasp of Oblivion once again.

Something more than human

Even if MeleMele hadn't been hit by the recent storm, it still seemed as if much had changed recently. The largest of the tent cities had sprang up across the island, and it seemed to give the island a much larger population. Large amounts of the relief efforts seemed to be concentrated on the island, thanks to the amounts of refugees. Employees of the Aether foundation gave food out to refugees, as did the Red Cross and members of the government. The one Trial Captain on MeleMele, Ilima was even leading the organization of the largest of the tent cities. Sure, he may have been lacking in the leadership capacity, but here he was giving it his all.

The people living in the tent city he was running seemed to be the most comfortable out of them all. It was almost as if they never left their homes across the region. They all had the amenities they once had before the storm. Fresh food, not just MREs, extra bottled water, even wifi. Not exactly wifi, but more of having the city close to a data tower, so that the refugees could have access to the web. After all, they would want to be connected to their families that fled the region before and after the storm, would they not?

On some parts of the island though, nothing seemed to have changed. Oddly enough one of these spots was the beach in the southeast. Wingull still soared over the beaches, looking for places to forage and lay their eggs. Fish could be seen Jumping out of the water ways away. The professors shack though was a bit of a different story. The windows seemed boarded up in preparations for the storm, and hadn't been taken down. It could be from either Kukui thought another storm was on its way, or it could be that he was just lazy.

Didn't really matter, as even as the world changed around him, he would continue to care for the grandson of the Kahuna. Kukui was just cooking breakfast, when Hau came down from the loft. He had looked worse for wear since the attack at Iki-town. His hair was no longer in a pony tail, and he lacked the constant energy that he once had.

"Morning sleepyhead. You hungry?"

"No..."

"You feeling alright? You sound tired."

"I'm... fine. What're you cooking? It smells good."

"Slowpoke tails. I've found a way to grill it over this here gas stove. Grilled meat just seems to taste better than when just cooked in a pan. Guess the smoke from the grills gives it that smokey taste."

"Yeah... probably."

They both sat down after the tails were done being grilled, and Kukui would proceed to try and make small talk.

"So... I heard that Halas funeral is going to be later this week."

Hau was silent, quietly playing with his food for a moment.

"Do you think we could attend it?"

"I'd love to cousin... believe me. But unfortunately it might be too dangerous for you."

"Why would it be too dangerous?"

"Team Skull could be waiting there. If you go, they might try again to kill you... you, no, we can't risk it."

"Do you think we could at least try to visit his grave at some point? When all this chaos is all over."

"I suppose so. If we find your brother, he could come along too."

Hau looked upset at the fact Kukui mentioned Elio.

"Right. Sorry..."

They continued eating their breakfast, and when they went to put their plates in the sink, a knock could be heard on the door.

"Who could that be? Don't get many visitors these days." Kukui asked.

"Maybe Team Skull found out where I was?" Hau seemed to be a bit nervous.

"I'll be the judge of that."

Kukui went into his room to a safe, and brought out a handheld.

"If they're here for you, I'll make sure they won't come back."

He looked through the peephole, to see a boy, similar in appearance to Lillie, who he had cared for months earlier. He was wearing a black and red hoodie, surprising for someone who lived in the heat of Alola. His clothes were torn up, and he seemed to have a bunch of pokémon on him, as a bunch of pokeballs were on a belt on his waist. One of them though, seemed to be unique. A premier ball, with the golden trident emblem of the Aether foundation on the top half. What was contained within? Kukui wasn't sure.

He opened the door, keeping the handheld out of sight.

"Hey kid, is there anything you need?"

"Yeah, there might be. Can we come in?"

"You wouldn't find me good company at the moment. Where'd you even come from?"

"We were staying at a tent city on Ula Ula, and my sister suggested we stay with you."

"Your sister?"

"You might know her. Hey Lillie! You can come out now!" Lillie came out of hiding, and she could be seen wearing both Elios bag, and the bag she kept Nebby in.

"Hello Professor... its been a while."

"Lillie? I... suppose it has been. Who is this??"

"My older brother, Gladion. He left mother before I did."

"I see... why did you two come here?"

"I suggested we come here since we could live a better life than in a refugee camp."

"Come in then! Me and Hau just finished up breakfast, I can make you some more!"

"Wait, Hau is here?" Gladion sounded a bit annoyed.

"Yes, long story. Just come in and we can explain."

As the two came in, Kukui seemed to notice Lillie was wearing Elios bag.

"Say, Lillie?"

"Yes sir?"

"Why do you have Elios backpack?"

"Gladion found it when he went missing, said he heard a yelp come from him, and he found it open. Wanted to keep it to give it back to him if he's ever found."

They came in, seeing Hau watching the news. A live broadcast about the Aether foundation was playing on the screen.

"Aether Foundation President Lusamine announced that she is working on an autobiography of her life. From her childhood to founding the Aether Foundation, she says that she will work on all the nooks and crannies."

Lillie leaned towards Gladion to whisper to him.

"You think we'll be mentioned in that autobiography?"

"I'm not sure... she probably thinks of us as a disgrace."

"Wait... Lillie? Gladion?" Hau turned around to see them also watching the TV.

"What're you two doing here?"

"I can say the same for you." Gladion said.

"Guys, guys, just calm down. I feel like there's something we need to discuss here." Kukui said.

"And what might that be?" Gladion asked.

"I have a feeling that what happened to Elio and Hala could possibly be connected. We should discuss how it might be."

Meanwhile, back on Aether Paradise, as Lusamine was writing her autobiography, Elios dreamless sleep faded, and he actually started to go into REM sleep. Yet the dream he was having was different than anything he had before. Neither a nightmare, or one of those pleasant dreams he'd usually have. This was something more.

He was in the Ruins of Conflict, which he had traveled to many times before with Hau and Hala, yet it seemed different. Vines didn't cover the walls as they once did, and trees were no longer growing against the walls. Torches flickered, lighting the temple in an orange light. A roaring fire was in the center of the temple, with multiple men and women surrounding it. Elio was seemingly in the center of that crowd.

A man was close to the fire, covered in tattoos and partially clothed in a fur cloak. Elio could hear the sound of stone pounding against stone, and he soon saw where the noise was coming from. The man turned around, and he could be seen with a mortar and Pestle, which contained a white and gold powder that sparkled brilliantly. He proceeded to pour the powder into a white liquid, presumably milk from a miltank, which was then poured in another bowl with a golden fluid. They were all mixed together, to make a swirling concoction which glowed Slightly.

A woman brushed a green powder onto Elios face, giving him three streaks of what looked similar to war paint. The man with the concoction then approached Elio and spoke to him. Yet though he spoke in a language that Elio had never heard before, he could be understood perfectly.

"The essence of the light that stole the sun and ate the moon, is now to be used to banish the light that burns the sky out of this realm."

He handed the bowl to Elio.

"Drink it. For then we shall cast the light out."

"I understand my lord."

Elio took the bowl, and drank the concoction slowly. He could feel the powder still in it, which felt like small bits of broken glass in his throat, yet something in his mind told him that this would all be worth it in the end. He could feel a surge of power flow all throughout his body, then his vision went white. When his vision cleared, it seemed clear that he had become something else. Something that wasn't human, yet something more than humans. He looked down at his hands, to see that they were covered in some kind of black, shiny material. Looked kinda like chitin. He looked further back, to see some kind of turquoise Colored shell.

"If a God from another realm comes to steal our light... we shall have our own gods incarnate to save the people. Go! Your brothers and sisters are undergoing the same ritual, leave the temple! Save your people!" Elio nodded, and flew out into the twilight that lacked both the sun and the moon.

As Elio continued in his strange vision, Lusamine continued writing her autobiography, seemingly with difficulty. She was thinking about Elio constantly, having written about him as well as his older "siblings." She wrote about him as her youngest child, who had dreams about becoming a trainer, as she remembered that he was a trainer before he was kidnapped and made to look as "beautiful" as her. She wanted to visit him all the time, hell, spend all her time with him. But as the Aether Foundations president, she had to schedule her visits. Wanted to wake him up always too, but after almost strangling and slitting his throat, she knew on the inside that would be a bad idea.

'My two children both ran away for different reasons I would rather not talk about here. My family has been swept with bad blood over the past few years, that is all I would like to say. Elio though, has always been a different story to Lillie and Gladion. He's always been a little ray of sunshine. My little sunshine, Sun sun sun sun son son son son son son son son son son son son son son son son son son son son son son son son son son son son son son son son son son son son son son son son son son son son son son son son son son son son son son son son son son.'

Her handwriting was becoming more and more sloppy as she continued, and the paper looked as if it was about to be torn to pieces.

"Elio... my son..."

She realized her error, and turned the paper over to try and write again. Yet it proceeded to happen all over again, while she was murmuring to herself.

"My little sunshine... why won't you understand..."

She seemed to be as obsessed with him as she once was with the Ultra beasts that drove Lillie and Gladion away, if not more. The pen then broke, and she began to write Elios name in huge letters, like a young child finger painting in First Grade.

"I... I need you... you complete me..." How she was feeling was unclear, though what was clear was that it couldn't be good.

A knock could then be heard on the door of her office, startling her. She saw the mess that she had made from her obsessions, and dragged her arm across her desk, knocking everything to the ground, some things breaking in the process.

"Come in!" She sounded freaked out as she said that. Faba and Xerosic walked in, and Faba showed more enthusiasm than he usually did.

"What is it Faba? Don't you see I'm busy??"

"Yes Ms. President I can see you were..." He saw all her belongings on the ground next to her desk.

"Busy, but I bring good news for you."

"What kind of good news? The kind that will have me kick you out of my office??"

"Oh you won't want to kick me out after you hear this, believe me. Xerosic, call them in."

"Right." Xerosic pulled out some kind of radio, spoke into it, and a few minutes later, an employee came in carrying something. It looked like the helmets that were placed on the Silvally the foundation created to restrict their power. Except this helmet didn't seem to be made out of Copper. Seemed more like Stainless Steel, as it had a silvery gray color instead of the rusty light brown of Copper.

"We've completed the mind wipe device. We only need your word for when we wipe your... sons mind."

"It really is complete? Tell me, how exactly will he become mine?"

"I'll show you." He lifted the helmet, revealing many very long and sharp needles, making Lusamine gasp.

"We stimulate different parts of his brain, through which this will be used." He pointed to a small screen inside the helmet.

"Once we locate the location in his brain that the images stimulate, we cause enough pain through the needles there, to kill that connection. The memories of whatever was in the image will be burned away. Do that enough, and he'll be a husk of his former self. But that is not all it can do."

"What else can it do?"

"You say you wanted him to believe he's your own flesh and blood right? Well I've got a way to make him feel that way."

"What is it?? Tell me!"

"By Holy Sinnoh, calm down! You've been really creepy when it comes to that boy, just try and think straight for 5 damn minutes!"

"Why do you talk to me like that!?"

"So you can actually hear what we have to say!" Xerosic added.

"Alright. I will listen. Tell me, what is your plan?"

"Two words. Hard. Drugs." Some of the needles are even Hollow, to inject whatever chemicals are needed into the kids gnoggin. With the effects of those chemicals, all that will be needed is exposure to all sorts of Media that you've been involved in. Interviews, images, speeches, whatever is needed to be used, and the rest is history. He'll be yours."

Lusamines mouth felt dry as a desert at the thought of this happening.

"So. When do you want this to happen?" Xerosic asked.

"I want it done by Friday. I want to have him wake up again soon, get him used to my presence."

"He won't remember that though?"

"Shut up! It's something personal for me. Now can you please not disturb me until Friday??"

"I suppose so... you're the boss."

Faba and Xerosic left the room with the helmet, and Lusamine grabbed the old draft with Elios name scribbled all over it.

"Soon my little angel... we'll both be complete."

Even after the events of the past few weeks, Aether Paradise never seemed to change. You could say it was almost as if the artificial island was preserved in time, as it was really the only "island" to be unaffected by the storm. Even MeleMele had been affected somewhat, thanks to the refugees and tent cities dotted across the island. No refugees had come to Aether Paradise, nor was the Red Cross stationed there to an extent. As since it was the Foundation that created the island, it would be the Foundation that managed it. Like any building owned by a corporation on the mainland or in most of the other regions, it could be made private property by that organization. Aether Paradise was no different.

Aether Paradise had been private property, keeping almost everyone and everything from poking their nose into the Foundations business, only one actually being able to do so was the Alolan government itself. Yet they didn't have any reason to do so, or so they thought. The Foundation was a humanitarian as well as Pokémon rights organization after all, what could they have been? Sure they did Scientific research, but it couldn't have been human experimentation right? At first, this thought would be true. Just harmless research, sometimes on the Pokerús virus, sometimes on batches of the cells of fauna throughout the world. Never flora, which made the people in the government, and the scientists in the Foundation that didn't know the truth wonder, but in the end it was harmless. In the end though, this research had led to this day.

The device needed to wipe Elios mind was ready, but all that was needed was word from Lusamine for when she wanted them to do it. Xerosic and Faba didn't understand why she hadn't given them the signal to go through with it already, yet they figured she had her reasons.

After Lusamine had grabbed the draft with Elios name scribbled all over it, a desire to be with the boy returned, and the desire only grew the more read the draft. She knew well the only way to quench it was by speaking to the boy. What harm could come from that? None is what she told herself. As long as nothing were to happen that would make her go ape shit and make her try to strangle him again, all would be fine. That's what she hoped for at least. He wouldn't need to be harmed, all that was needed was a moment with him. Even if her resolve had grown weak over those weeks he was on the Paradise with her, he'd be able to fix her resolve.

After all, he made her feel complete.

She waited for the effects of the Anesthesia to wear off, as she kept her employees from readministering the Anesthesia. The whole time, she was waiting by Elios side ever so patiently.

She watched as he shook off Oblivion once again, and open his eyes for the first time in days.

"Mother..." She could see his eyes light up, realizing that this was the time to make his move. He could try to convince her to free him. He tried to sit up, but winced, seemingly in pain and fell back down to the bed.

"Are you feeling alright?" Lusamine asked, her tone sounding sincere. Elio hated that it sounded so sincere. Did she actually care for him, only because of what he was mutated into?

"Mother... I... my..." He was trying to fake the pain in his voice, with a small part of it being genuine, as his back was sore from being in bed for days on end.

"Elio, tell me whats wrong. Please tell me! Elio??" She sounded as if she was beginning to panic.

"Can you just... unfasten me? I can't sit up properly, and my back is killing me..."

She was already undoing three of his restraints, the two on his arms and one on his waist, and he sat up properly for the first time in who knows how long. He was stretching freely, and his back could be heard cracking.

He looked at the clock on the wall infront of him. 8:02. Just after 8 o'clock. Was it evening or morning? He couldn't tell, as it didn't say. Then he had an idea. Perhaps he could find a way to get her to lower her guard? If so, he might be able to escape? Run out of this room, take the elevator down to the docks, then stowaway on a ship. Could be the only chance he had, so he has to make do.

"I appreciate it... mother." He said as he stopped stretching.

Lusamine broke into a huge smile and hugged him tightly. It was uncomfortable, yes, but he had to go through with this. As she broke away, Lusamine grabbed his cheek and was leaning over his bed. All the while Elio was staring back with an expression he hoped wouldn't offend her, straight into her venomous green eyes with the exact replicas he had been given by Faba.

"Mother..." The look in her eyes said everything Elio needed to know. Lusamine had become much less aware of her surroundings, but her expression was one he couldn't decipher. She looked confused, yet somehow more than that. She took his hand, interlocking it with hers, and he could feel her heartbeat through the veins on the back of her hand.

It was a strange thought, to know she was an actual human, and not just some monster wearing human skin. She actually had blood flowing through her veins, hopes and dreams like him, yet she showed almost no humanity whenever she woke him up. She didn't seem to regret what she had made him into, never considering how he had felt about it. Is this how she acted towards Lillie and Gladion? She seemed less like a human, and acted like some kind of malicious entity from the depths of Hell. Some kind of nightmarish apparition that felt like it couldn't be real, but he knew was all goo real. This wasn't just some nightmare, it was real. All too real. No matter how much Elio wanted it to be.

"Elio... you're so beautiful..." She was coming closer. The smell of her hair, the sparkle the light gave her eyes... what he was mutated into, it was all too real, and he knew it. It was like he was a doll to her. Her own personal doll she could hold, touch, and manipulate all she wanted. A doll that didn't want that to be its fate. To be its only purpose in life. He wanted out. Out of the Hell built in the middle of the ocean, and this could be his only opportunity.

He knew what he had to say, but it wasn't what he wanted to. 'Stop torturing me' came to mind as well as 'I'm not your little puppet on a string.' Yet he pushed his own desires down to the deepest pits of his mind, to say what Lusamine wanted to hear.

"I... look just like you mother. We're perfect."

Lusamine was stunned for a moment. Nobody had ever called her perfect before. What could this mean? Her idea of perfection was one that she ran by strictly. Did this mean, after all her efforts, she was right? She had to be, it was the only thing that made sense to her anymore. The two of them, together, were perfect. She could care less for her wretched children that came before.

"Elio... do you want me to get you anything?"

"I haven't had anything to drink in a while... I guess it was only those that kept me hydrated." He pointed to the IV drip that was connected to his arm.

"What would you like to drink?"

"Ice Tea maybe?" He said weakly, trying to fool her on how much strength he had left.

"I'm on it... I'll only be gone a moment."

"Don't be long... please." He tried to make his voice sound weak again, and it seemed to convince her, as she left the room to go get the drink. Meanwhile, Elio went to work on the restraints on his legs, trying to undo them with his nails.

"Only got one shot at this..." He didn't seem to make much progress, but when he looked at the edge of his bed, he noticed the mirror shard Lusamine tried to kill him with. He picked it up, to see the dark dried blood Lusamine had left on it from gripping it too hard. He found that he still had the blood on his face that she had smeared on the last time he was woken up, making him look like an ancient warrior of the past. This was the first time he had willingly looked at his new appearance, and he was trying to take in his new appearance. If he was going to escape, he'd need to accept who he had become. Question is, would his brother even see him as family still? What about Hala? Lillie and Gladion? How would they see him now?

He had been made as pale as them, it was surprising to him that anyone could be this pale. He had darker skin once. People would think he and Hau were biological brothers when they'd travel as a duo. Could he be fixed if he were to escape? Maybe Kukui could help with that.

"I should think less about the future..." He said, using the shard to cut himself free of the final restraints. He proceeded to pull the IV needle out of his arm, making him yelp slightly, but the pain faded as it healed back over and the bleeding stopped. A puff of steam was even emitted from the wound when it was healing.

"Wow..."

He got out of the bed, seemingly having trouble standing at first. Yet he managed to keep his balance, even if he was a bit wobbly for a moment or two.

Elio looked at the shard again, pondering what to do. Should he end it all here? NO. He wouldn't be able to anyway. If he were to see the sun again without his mind being tampered with, he'd need to fight his way out. Hala had taught him some techniques for hand to hand combat, yet he'd never thought he would have to use them. Would he really have to harm others to achieve freedom?

The thought of taking another life made him feel sick, even Lusamines. She may have put him through Hell over the weeks he was on the Paradise, but she was still a living, breathing human, even if she was like a nightmarish apparition.

He went to leave, but when he turned around to the door, Lusamine had come through, holding a bottle of Ice Tea.

"Elio? What're you doing? How did you get out of bed?"

Elio had to come up with something convincing quickly.

"I... I was lonely. I wanted to come find you."

"You... freed yourself not to flee, but to come find me?"

"Yeah..."

She set the bottle of tea on a dresser, and approached Elio slowly, with a curious expression on her face.

"My my, you're loyal. Loyal and Beautiful... I wish I could say the same for the other two..."

"You could have left... and you didn't."

She leaned in close, while Elio was shying away from her. It was only when she had tried to snake her hand under his shirt did he realize the implications of what she was trying to do. Without thinking, he plunged the mirror shard into her shoulder blade, only to hear a gasp come from her. Hell, she barely even flinched. She grabbed the arm that held the shard, and stared right into Elios eyes, seemingly not caring for the pain in her shoulder.

"I see now... you weren't loyal to me."

He was trying to pull away, but she kept him in an iron grip.

"Get off of me!!"

"I feel its time we test Fabas little pet project... that way you'll come to appreciate who you are. Who we are." She grabbed his other arm.

"What the hell are you talking about!?"

She managed to call for Faba and Xerosic, and they would proceed to drag Elio out of the mansion, kicking and screaming, back into the depths of Aether Paradise, with Lusamine following not far behind.

Chapters end.

Ever since Lillie and Gladion had arrived at Kukuis lab, everyone there had been discussing what had happened to Elio and where he could have went. Hau and Lillie were remaining hopeful that he would someday come back to them, they were optimists you could say. Gladion and Kukui were more realistic about it though, even if Kukui didn't show it. Believe me, he wanted Elio to come home safe and sound, but with how long he had been gone, he highly doubted it. Even if he was alive, he probably wouldn't be able to come home.

Gladion however, seemed to have taken his disappearance the worst. More than Hau even. He had blamed himself for Elio being kidnapped. He said he would stay close by, keep an eye on him, since the area he was in was dangerous. All it took was only looking away for a moment, and all he heard was Elio yelp, and nothing more. All that he had found was Elios opened bag. He didn't really say this much, only person he really said this too was Lillie.

She said she didn't blame him for their friend vanishing, yet it didn't help to calm his nerves.

This evening, he would be sitting on the porch, contemplating what had happened, just watching the waves.

"Why wasn't I there for him?" He said to himself, pulling out a cigarette.

"I should have went with him... at least should have kept a constant eye on him. Why did I have to get distracted??"

Lillie then came out, having heard Gladion talking to himself.

"Brother?"

"What do you want Lillie?"

"I thought I heard you crying. You usually don't do that. What's wrong?"

"What do you think?"

"Its about Elio, isn't it?"

Gladion didn't say anything, and Lillie sat beside him.

"Gladie, you know you can't blame yourself for what happened."

He didn't say anything.

"It wasn't your fault, you need to take that in..."

"I promised, I'd watch over him... all it was one little slip up on my end, and poof! He vanished with a yelp! Who could not blame themselves for that??"

"I understand why you feel that way, but you can't blame yourself. I don't blame you, Hau doesn't blame you, neither does Kukui. If it's anyone's fault, its those who took him." Nebby then jumped out of her bag, and jumped onto Gladions lap. It was tapping his arm with its gaseous limps chirping, seemingly trying to get Gladions attention. Lillie chuckled slightly at the sight.

"Nebby doesn't seem to blame you."

"It probably doesn't even know whats going on..."

"You never know, it might be sentient!"

"Aren't most beings sentient?"

"Erm, I think I meant sapient. Nebby could be sapient like us."

"So it might have human intelligence?"

"Yeah, its a possibility."

Hau opened the door, and gave a slight smile at Nebby when he saw it.

"You two hungry? Kukui is grilling Barbecue wings and potatoes tonight, and wanted me to ask you if you wanted any."

"I could go for some wings." Gladion said.

"Maybe, I'm not sure."

"Great! You two come in then, Kukui had them ready and wanted me to come and get you!" Lillie followed Hau, yet they both noticed Gladion didn't get up.

"Aren't you coming Gladion?" Lillie asked.

"I will, just need to think about some things." After Lillie realized she didn't grab Nebby and went back in, Gladion pulled his pack of cigarettes back out.

"Grey Torkoal" was the brand it came from. Sams brand Gladion had used ever since he fled from Lusamine almost two years earlier. Tried not to smoke much, for the sanctity of his lungs, but sometimes he couldn't help it. Would be a larger issue if there weren't bigger fish he had to fry.

"Elio... I hope you're still alive out there somewhere. You're too stubborn to let anything beat you, let alone kill you. But if we're being realistic, you probably died a long time ago..." He said as he took a puff.

Meanwhile, Elio had been brought to a room in the depths of Aether Paradise, being forced into a straight jacket by Xerosic and Faba, all the while Lusamine watched in the background.

"We can talk about this don't you see!? I can stay here! We can be a family, even with my mind intact!!" Elio yelled, trying to convince the two not to go through with the procedure.

"I'm afraid it's too late for that boy! The president gave that a chance, and you soiled that chance!!"

He had been trying to resist for a long time, and they were all yelling at eachother, yet Xerosic and Faba succeeded in placing the straight jacket on Elio.

"By Xerneas, does this kid ever shut up??" Xerosic asked.

"Hold on, I know how to keep him quiet."

Xerosic went and grabbed a role of duct tape, and approached Elio.

"GET AWAY FRO-" his voice went muffled as Xerosic placed the tape over his lips.

"There. Peace and quiet."

Elio was still squirming a bit, but it wouldn't be enough to get him off the table.

"God this kid is annoying."

"Wait until you meet his brother."

Xerosic, Faba, and Lusamine had worked together to create a sideshow of images from his past. The photo the Rotomdex had taken and printed at Akala, which Elio managed to post on social Media, and sites of the Island challenge from Alolan Vacation sites. Images of Iki-town, even Hala. Lusamine knew it was perfect to use, and she had given the signal to use the helmet.

"Right." Faba said. He grabbed a remote to have the needles retract into the helmet so it could be placed on Elios head.

"How long will it take?" Lusamine asked.

"Less than twenty minutes."

"So are we ready to finally wipe his mind?" Xerosic asked.

"Yes, why else would we be doing this?" Faba snapped back.

"Every little thing was considered, we know everything Elio won't need. All he'll need is the bare essentials."

Elio had been getting more frantic in his squirming, trying to break free of his straight jacket. He almost seemed to be screaming for help, yet it couldn't be understood what he was saying.

"Scream all you want boy, but I don't see the point. Noone will hear you screaming, so why even bother?" Faba asked, picking up the helmet, why Xerosic handled some kind of harness. He handed it to Faba, and Faba put it on the hole at the bottom of the mask. Elio realized it was supposed to keep the mask on his face, by it locking onto his neck. He kept squirming, yet deep in his mind he knew this would be his end. The end of who he was now to be precise. he didn't know if he would be in the backseat in his mind, or if it would just be like amnesia. He didn't want to think of it, and kept trying to get away.

As Faba tried to place the helmet on his head, he just kept trying to play Keep away. Trying to stretch out his last moments for as long as possible.

"Goddamn it! Hold him still!" Faba yelled, and Xerosic grabbed his head, keeping it steady, whole an employee grabbed his torso to keep him from squirming. The harness then closed onto Elios neck, and the helmet was now stuck on his head.

It was pitch black, and Elio could smell and taste rust, which for a moment he thought it was odd, as the outside looked as if it was made of stainless steel. A blinding light then pierced his eyes, which he soon became accustomed to. Was this some kind of Virtual-reality headset? That's what it reminded him of at least.

"Now!" He then heard a click, a slight whirring noise, and the needles pierced his skull and went into his brain. His entire head exploded into burning agony, and Xerosic found his squirming became more frantic than before, as Faba went to manage the sideshow.

His screams had become much louder, and the tape didn't seem to do anything, as it bounced around the helmet and went back into his ears. It put Elio on the edge of going into a sensory overload, as the helmet continued to whir, and the screen infront of his eyes went green. Steam seemed to he pouring out of some of the small holes in the helmet like a tea kettle, and the pain throughout his head stopped. Elio was breathing heavily, scared and confused. What did they just do? Was that all? He didn't feel any different.

Images of different cities and towns in Kanto were then displayed on the screen. Viridian, Celadon, Saffron, Pallet, he didn't recognize any of them. But the last one, he did recognize. Fuschia. One of the great coastal cities of Kanto, a rainbow of neon lights in the evenings. That's where his extended family came from. He could remember a family reunion he was brought to with his sister taking place there. Meeting his father, uncles, many of his family members. But then he could hear the whir of the gears inside the helmet, then the pain was reignited. He could hear buzzing inside his own head, seemingly searching for something. Then an alien feeling, maggots eating away at his brain, no his memories, and the memory was cut abruptly. He didn't recognize the city, that his family lived in it, nothing. His only experience of his ancestral homeland, gone, like dust to the wind.

Then was an image of Hala, and Iki-town. So many memories came to the surface there. The Grand Trial against him to leave MeleMele, getting his starter pokémon of the island challenge, first arriving many years earlier, almost countless memories. But then, like a blacksmith sharpening his blade against a grindstone, they were vanished as well. Vanishing into brain fog, like assasins into smoke after making their kill.

Elio knew what was happening at that moment. They were trying to wipe his mind, yet the realization had been fading as he realized it. He was trying to keep his mind blank, yet he couldn't focus on that, as more images were displayed. Verdant Cavern, Brooklet Hill, the Volcano Park, gone to the needles prodding his brain. Just about everyone he had known was forgotten. An image would be displayed, a memory would play out in Elios mind, severe burning pain, then the memory is gone. Then, he had an idea that he acted on quickly.

As he saw an image of Hau be displayed, he shut his eyes, trying to think of other things. Unimportant memories, such as the tastes of food, the smell of the sea, the feeling of sunlight on his skin, all those memories turned to ash. Elio felt as if his very being was being torn apart, as memory after memory was ereased. One by one, a piece of him fell into the abyss, yet he managed to cling to what he thought was essential.

Hau, Lillie, Gladion, his Pokémon, his very identity. Almost everything was gone, except for those and memories of the experiments. The tools, the vats, Faba, images of them weren't shown. The memories of Lusamine were gone too. Her waking him up, almost slitting his throat... her trying to kiss him moments earlier, all gone.

Were they done? That's what Elio thought. Every part of him had felt wrong, almost every part of him was gone. He didn't know what he was anymore, almost every part of his being was erased.

They then continued again, seemingly trying to get whatever was left of him.

They showed him an image of himself. No, the picture of him, Lillie, and Hau at the restaurant at Akala. They were trying to kill two, no, possibly three birds with one stone. The needles began their work, but then, the readings on his brain went dark.

His brain seemingly shut down for a moment, Elio had blacked out, seemingly being defended from any more of who he was being destroyed. Then, he woke up, not remembering anything of which he defended. His memories seemed to have just vanished? Faba couldn't tell what had happened, all he could tell was that Elios memories had just vanished. Perhaps he managed to suppress that somehow?

No, no. That was impossible, no man or woman, especially a mere child could suppress their memories all willy nilly.

Elio was breathing heavily, with great fear in his heart and mind, scared at the fact that he didn't know where he was, or who he was. With what Faba had seen, the old Elio had been erased, with the last of what made Elio who he was just vanishing, as if someone or something just switched off the lights, and he was gone.

He would then feel the needles exit his brain, with the puncture wounds healing over with more puffs of steam. He could then feel a small prick on his neck, and the echoes he heard from his breathing faded. He could feel a cool substance flowing through his bloodstream, then every fiber in his body relaxed. His fight or flight response from basically being lobotomized faded, and he felt as if he was floating. A wide, calm yet delirious smile spread across his face, as the drugs Faba said he would use worked their magic.

He felt safe, not caring who or what he was. He was happy, the flickering screen keeping him entertained in his intoxicated state. Over 20 mg of morphine were pumped into his system, as well as Ketamine, all of them just below overdose levels for safety. Yet Faba knew even if he did more, Elio would probably survive it. He had been basking in a feeling that some folks might say was the high of a lifetime, yet he didn't even know what was going on. He couldn't tell the passage of time, so he was like that for who knows how long, hours, days or minutes of pleasure from the morphine, with his mouth hanging open blankly.

The helmet played recordings of a voice, one that was unfamiliar to Elio, as he didn't remember anyone.

Sometimes, he understood the words, yet didn't know what it meant. The voice had been feminine, at least he thought it was after listening for what felt like hours. He could hear her, talking to him, beckoning him. Then, more images, no, a recording played on the display. It was a tall woman, who looked similar to him. Pale skin, platinum blond hair, and emerald green eyes.

She was holding out her hand, calling out his name. His name, what was it? Was it his own, or did she come up with it?

Elio tried to reply, but all that came out was a gagged mumble, and he seemed to try and move, follow the hand into the light. Yet the serene and light headed feelings were beginning to fade, and one more image was displayed. A golden trident, with the middle prong being a golden diamond, separated from the main symbol.

His mind faded to black, as the recordings continued to play.

They all seemed to know the deed was done, and Xerosic removed the helmet, revealing an Elio who had dots of blood all over his head, even in his hair. Small wisps of steam seemed to be emitted from some of them as well.

Lusamine was clapping her hands with childlike excitement, giddy that what Faba had predicted turned out to be true, other than the slight hiccup.

"Is it true?? He's finished?"

Faba had mumbled to himself for a moment, yet soon Lusamine could understand.

"Yes... he is. I theorize he will awake soon, perhaps in a day or few hours, but he is indeed yours. There is no need to worry about that."

Faba stepped in to help Xerosic with getting Elio out of the straight jacket, and checking for any damage that the helmet may have received.

He stared at the needles, they were seemingly dulled to an extent, due to Elios healing abilities.

"Fascinating... the bone might have been regenerating around the wounds, that could be why they aren't that sharp anymore."

Xerosic took a wash cloth, seemingly wiping away all the blood on Elios face and head. Faba took the equipment along with Xerosic, placed the helmet and IV drips filled with the mind altering drugs on a cart, and went to leave the room.

"He is all yours now." Faba said, as the scientist duo left the room, with the employee not far behind. Lusamine was all alone with Elio, and went to pick him up. She picked him up with ease, and noticed a tiny smile on his face, nothing like the delirious one when the helmet was on.

Lusamine was all too happy to see him appear so peaceful. Even under the Anesthesia, he always looked distressed. A smile spread across her face as well. For once she actually looked sane.

"Elio... I've done so much, and after all my work... You're perfect."

Arcs end.

The time had come for Elio to start his new life. Lusamine had been waiting for what felt like ages, but in reality it was only like one or two days. Even if Elio had his memories ereased, Faba and Lusamine both seemed to realize that they had forgotten one step. The fake memories hadn't been implemented, yet there was no need to worry. His empty mind had the qualities of clay, and the two intended had to manipulate it using that quality.

Mold it like clay into whatever they wanted him to be, and they could indeed make him into whoever they wanted him to be. A soldier loyal to the foundation, a trainer who had the help of the foundation to start his journey, almost limitless potential. Yet there was one thing Lusamine had wanted most. Hell, it was the only thing she was able to think about over the past few days.

He would be hers, and if Faba did the right procedures, he would be. That was all she could think about. Was he hers? He had to be. It was all she could think about.

She had written his name on papers spread all throughout her office and room, to a certain extent even on the walls themselves. She didn't let anyone into her office or private quarters. She wanted to scribble in private, and she had a feeling they wouldn't like what they would see. But today, she wouldn't have to do that.

She would wake him up, and personally made sure that she would be alone with him. Even Faba wouldn't be in there to disconnect him from the device that was feeding him the fake memories.

Yet before she entered the room he was kept in, Faba confronted her for wanting to unhook him on her own.

"Ms. President?"

"What is it Faba? I'm not in the mood to talk to you at the moment."

"Are you positive that you don't want me to unhook him? I'm the only one that worked with that technology."

"Yes. I am very sure. Besides, even if I do mess up unhooking him, he will heal from any injuries from it almost immediately."

Faba sighed. "You say you care about the boy, yet you don't seem to care if he is injured or not. Why is that?"

"Just, leave me to handle Elio alright? I don't want you to be the first that he sees. I must be the first one he sees, so I must be alone in there. ME!"

"Fine fine. Great Sinnoh, just calm down!" He left Lusamines presence, allowing her to enter Elios room in peace.

He no longer had his restraints on, and had a blanket over most of his body. Not only that, but he had a machine connected to his spine that looked somewhat like a heart monitor, which Lusamine went to disconnect. She carefully removed the needle that connected it to his spine, trying to remember how Faba did it, and was successful. Elio then started to stir in his sleep, and Lusamine became exited.

His eyes opened, and he removed the blanket, and sat up, the restraints no longer being a problem. That look in his eyes, they weren't like how they were before the procedure. He seemed nervous, yet no fear could be seen.

For a moment, Lusamine thought something hadn't worked. Had Faba lied to her?

"Elio... it's me. Don't you remember me?"

A small smile could be seen on his face, and it seemed he was about to speak.

"Mother..." It had worked. The Elio she had brought from Ula Ula to find Gladion and Lillie was gone. She didn't need them. Not when she had Elio.

She grew ecstatic at the thought that Elio was finally hers, and gently grabbed his chin. "Hold still, I want to get a good look at you."

She tipped his head left to right, trying to get a good look at him, every single aspect she and Faba had changed. His pale porcelain skin, his emerald green eyes, his platinum hair. Nothing was left of what he had been before, body and mind.

"Mother?"

"What is it Elio?"

"Can you let go of me please?"

"Why exactly?"

"Its uncomfortable, you've got too tight of a grip."

"Oh, of course! Anything for you!"

She let go, almost crying tears of joy. She couldn't believe just how far she had come. How far HE had come. So much blood sweat and tears had been spilled and shed to make him who he was now. Sure, most of the three came from Elio, but that was old Elio, and she couldn't care less about what happened to him. But this one? She would have died for him if she had to.

"Are you feeling alright mother? You're... crying."

"I'm alright! Its just... I thought you would never see me again..."

"Why? What happened?"

Lusamine and Faba hadn't created any fake memories to fill the gaps in Elios recent memory, so she had to come up with something quick.

"You were separated from me when you were only a toddler. You were found in the Kanto region, where you went missing during a vacation. Don't you remember? "

"No... I don't."

Elio looked to his side, to see all the machines that were just connected to him.

"What're those?"

"That doesn't matter. What matters now is that you're back home..."

That gaze he was giving her, it was a hodge podge of emotions she'd never seen from him before. She knew then and there, he was what she wanted him to be. The final result was all she wanted. Her perfect little boy, finally all hers.

"Mother? My head hurts..."

Lusamine realized that must have been a side effect of the Foundation having just tampered with his brain. No matter, medication could help with that.

"I can fix that in time, but now we have things to do." She got up from the bed.

"Follow me Elio, we need to fix you up. Being in bed for weeks hasn't been good for you." Lusamine left the room, and Elio trailed not far behind. He seemed to be having trouble walking, which Lusamine figured was a case of muscle atrophy from being under the Anesthesia for so long.

'Oh well.' She thought. 'He'll regain his strength in time.'

"Why does everything feel fuzzy?"

"You slept for a long time after you were brought back. I have to say, you must have slept better there then any moment back in Kanto."

"I hope you're right." Elio said.

"Well why wouldn't I be?"

They came to the room that Elio would be staying at now that he was complete. It was once Gladions old room, yet it was completely reworked to belong to Elio. Old family photos, had been burned. His old belongings tossed into the sea. What furniture had been gathering dust over the past two years were put into Lillies room, and replaced with brand new, different varieties. Lusamine didn't want Elio to know about Lillie and Gladion, not yet at least. Even if she wanted nothing to do with them, she was certain Elio would wonder if he had other family members. She would have to tell him sooner or later, but she knew it was inevitable.

The bed in the corner of the room was the same as hers. A four poster bed, the same shade of black as her own, with drapes that hanged from the ceiling. The main difference between this bed and hers was that it had a twin size mattress, unlike her own queen sized mattress. A perfect size for Elio, considering his stature. Even a bookshelf filled with all sorts of stories she had enjoyed, as did Lillie once, and she was sure he would love them.

"Is this... all for me?"

"Yes, it is, why wouldn't it be? You must have hit your head harder than I thought." Lusamine gave out a bit of a chuckle.

"Would you mind telling me what you think?"

Elio enthusiastically yelled: "It looks wonderful mother!"
He went and almost flung himself onto the bed, yet he yelped as he was grabbed by the waist.

"Not yet Elio, you need to do something first."

"What'll it be mother?"

She pointed at his shirt.

"You're still wearing those clothes." Elio looked down at his shirt, the same one he was brought from Ula Ula in, noticing dirt and dark red spots around it. He may not have known, but it was dried blood, from both himself and Lusamine. The same striped T-shirt and Capri he usually wore, yet managed to wash frequently. Lusamine had a different set of clothing planned for him.

"Oh, I'm sorry! I was just so excited, it looked so comfortable. Might I ask why my clothes look like this?"

"I'll explain later on, is that alright?"

"I don't see why it wouldn't." She went and brought him to the next room over.

"This is the bathroom, the shower is in here. Don't ask me why we don't have two, because I specifically asked for two of them."

"Okie." Elio squeaked, heading inside. He had already taken off his shirt when he noticed Lusamines eyes still on him.

"Um, mother, can I get some privacy please? I'm not a toddler, I can shower on my own."

"Oh... my apologies Elio."

She closed the door, and was confused. Sure, they planted false memories to fill the gaps, but they didn't cover everything. Did Faba plant memories so that he would be more independent, or did they miss some memories?

"Doesn't matter." She said to herself, as she went back to his bedroom to wait for him. When she made it back, she was just laying on his bed, staring at the ceiling. She had all that she wanted, she had a family again. She couldn't ruin it, not after what happened last time. Perhaps she should try and make amends for what happened two years earlier, bring Gladion and Lillie back into the fold. Yet there was a little issue. They might be horrified by what she had made Elio into, might try to get him off the Paradise. That, she couldn't let happen. She had worked so hard to make him into what he is now, him leaving might simply break her mind.

'Might be best not to think of that.' She thought to herself, as she got back up.
'He believes he's my own flesh and blood, he might not even want to go with them if they do try to run away with him.'

She went and prepared a set of clothes from the wardrobe she arranged for him soon after he was dunked in the FFE vats. A white T-shirt that would fade into a golden color at the bottom and at the edges of the sleeves was taken out. It looked just like the dress that the public would always see her in. Afterwards, she took out sweatpants with colors similar to the leggings she wore on a daily basis. Black and white, with the colors changing at the seems.

From there, she patiently waited for Elio to return, and wondered if she should have said anything more about where he came from. But then she quickly changed that thought, thinking that what she told him was good enough. Besides, he would be able to believe he had siblings this way, since that origin story she had fabricated was that he had been separated from her in Kanto. Would that be very hard to believe?

She imagined herself in his shoes for a while, and thought it was believable. Yet there was something she thought was odd. She had been adamant that Elios mind be completely wiped to the bare minimum. Enough so that he was basically a newborn that actually had life skills, and would have to depend on her. So why did he know how to use the shower? Did he just figure it out quickly, or did he already know how to do it? Acted calmer than she thought he would. But it didn't matter at the moment, he seemed to love her, and she loved him, that was all that mattered at the moment.

Suddenly though, her train of thought was interrupted by the door openin. It was Elio, and he had a towel around his waist.

"I'm finished mother!" He went and closed the door, while Lusamines heart seemed to skip a beat at the sight of him.

'My God...' The drops of water on his skin reflected the soft golden light from above. It made it look like his skin was gleaming, no, glowing. The same thoughts she had when she found him after he freed himself came back. She wanted to, no. Had to-

"Why are you looking at me like that?" Genuine concern could be heard in his voice.

His concern brought her back to reality, as she shook her head to rid herself of the intrusive thoughts.

"I'm sorry, I was daydreaming for a moment. I... I've gotten together some clothes for you." She pointed to the now folded arrangements of clothing she set on his bed.

"Those are... for me?"

"Yes, they are. Why don't you try them on?"

She got up, and when Elio sat down, he pulled the drapes to give himself some privacy. All the while, Lusamine was left alone with her thoughts. How did he just bring her back to reality like that? Why had she begun to think about him like that? Was it the tone in his voice? The nervous look in his eyes? It was like she was being kept from jumping off a cliff into the abyss of insanity. Though she couldn't be sure.

Elio came out moments later, looking down at himself and back to Lusamine.

"We really do look alike, don't we?" Elio asked.

"Yes, we really do, my little angel."

He sat down next to Lusamine. "Can I have some privacy for a bit before we go do anything? I want to think some things over."

"What might you need to think over Elio?"

"I just wanna... think about my new situation, and all that led up to it."

"Certainly!" She got up and left the room, leaving Elio to himself.

He went over to the mirror, taking in his new getup.

'So, I get to have a new beginning?' He thought to himself. He tried to remember the memories he had about Kanto, but there was nothing. Why was that?

'Something just feels off... I can't put my finger on it.' He placed his hand on the mirror.

He had a nagging feeling at the back of his mind, telling him something was off about his appearance, yet he just couldn't figure it out. He figured that it was because he didn't have a Capri, that's what he usually wore back in Kanto. He decided that must be the case, and would ask Lusamine for a pair later on.

Elio had turned out much different than what Lusamine first expected him to be. Sure, they had succeeded in wiping his memory, and he thought he was her biological son, but he acted nothing like she wanted him to. She had him programmed to be dedicated to her, and to her alone, yet he didn't want to spend his every waking moment by her side. He preferred to sit in his room and read from Lillies old collection of stories. He seemed to prefer Fantasy more than anything. Mainly things such as "The Witcher" and "The Hobbit." Currently, he had been going through something called "The Infernal City." A city floating in the sky from another dimension, summoned by a spirit that was once contained in a sword?

Lusamine had to admit, she thought the premise sounded interesting. But his behavior left her all the more confused. Did she and Faba not program his mind correctly? Did she even get what she wanted? Or did she just get an introverted kid who wanted to spend his time alone?

Even if he wasn't as obsessed with her as she had been obsessed with him, he still called her mother, and meant it too. He would keep her grounded in reality, and she would treat him as one of her own.

She was in her office, pondering what she would do with him when she got a knock on the door.

"Come in." She was expecting Elio to open the door, but it turned out to be Faba.

"Oh. Hello Faba, what might you need?"

"There are some people from the Media on the Paradise Ms. President, I thought you would need to know that."

"What? What are they here for?"

"They said they wanted to hear your thoughts about the past week and a half. About the storms destruction, and what you plan for the foundation to do in the future."

"Well you can tell them to SHOVE IT!"

"Ms. President, you know how the media is. They won't give up easily, and even if they do, there's a chance they might spread fake news about you."

"That... would certainly be bad. Fine then, I'll get myself ready for the occasion. And can you go bring Elio here? I feel like he should be with me during the speech I want to give."

"I don't see why I couldn't. How is the little brat? I haven't heard from either him or you since we wiped his mind."

"Oh believe me Faba, hes far from a brat. Might not be as clingy as we thought he would, he mainly keeps to his room, with his nose buried in books. But he sees me as his mother, and I'm happy about that. Though I'm a bit confused as to why he acts the way he does."

"Right, I'll see to it immediately!"

He left the office, and made towards Elios room. When he got there, Elio didn't even seem to notice, still reading The Infernal city.

"Elio?"

Elio looked up, seeing Faba and held his book close. He didn't recognize him, but something felt off about him, and he didn't know why.

"Who are you?"

"I'm a family friend you could say. I work for your mother, she wanted me to come get you."

"Could you... tell me your name sir?"

"I'm Faba... I've known your mother since before she lost you in Kanto. I can remember when you were just a toddler."

"I can't remember that far back."

"Nothing wrong with that, most people can't."

"Is it alright if I bring my book?"

"Yes. You seemed quite invested in it."

Faba grabbed Elios hand, and led him to Lusamines office, yet they stayed at the door.

"Why aren't we going in Mr. Faba?"

"Your mother is... doing something. She'll be out in a moment." Faba remembered all the scribblings that Lusamine had made in her insanity. All with Elios name written in big letters, not to mention the whole SON SON SON SON SON thing.

Lusamine came out a few moments later, seemingly ticked off.

"Oh what is Faba do- oh! Why were you two waiting out here?"

"Remember what you have in there?"

"Oh. Yes, that."

"What're you talking about mother?"

"I have some private ramblings in my office. Legislative stuff, things like that."

"Okie..."

"Faba, can you leave us for a moment?"

"I suppose I can. Should I go get that reporter and her cameraman then?"

"Yes yes, bring them here. I wanna explain the situation to my son, so can you leave now?"

"Yes Ms. President."

She placed her hand on Elios shoulder as Faba left.

"Mother?"

"Yes Elio?"

"What were you two talking about? It sounded important."

"The people expect me to give some kind of speech it seems. About the hurricane that swept over the islands recently."

"How long ago did that happen?"

"About a week and a half ago, same time we found you."

"Did everyone make it out okay?"

"Most people were alright. I can't say the same for some people. A couple folks died during the floods. Our corporation has been giving humanitarian aid, but we can't do everything."

"The Foundation helps people, right?"

Lusamine took a moment to answer, remembering what she had done to him.

"Yes, we do. We try our best to help people and pokémon alike. Now, we must answer the call of the people."

"What should I do mother?"

"Just head back to your room now. You'll see..."

Meanwhile, Gladion and Lillie were on their way back from a shopping trip in Hau'oli. All the essential supplies they would need. AA batteries, Gallons of Juice and Ice Tea, a large assortment of food, and charcoal for grilling outside.

"Hey Gladie?"

"What is it Lillie?"

"How much money do we have on us now?"

"I'd say about twenty-five dollars."

"You think we could stop by the Malasada shop? Could probably help with our moods. Besides, you need something other than those cigarettes to help with your mood."

"I don't smoke them often you know."

"Yeah... still though, its not healthy."

"Malasadas aren't that healthy either."

"Better than the cancer sticks at least. Your lungs won't look like we done steaks from Malasadas at least. Besides, Hau could probably use some too. He looked really down in the dumps."

"Cool, cool. Lets head over then, we can get a couple I guess."

Soon, they would reach the shop on the southern side of the city.

"Clefstuds, that's a cute name, isn't it?" Lillie asked.

"Yeah, I guess it is."

They came in, to see that there was only four people in the shop.
Supposedly they wouldn't be that busy on a Friday afternoon.

"Welcome to Clefstuds! What may I do for you two?"

Lillie looked at the menu for a moment or two.

"Can I get two cinnamon topped Malasadas for me and my brother here? Oh, and three spicy ones as well!"

"I'm right on it! Just go sit down over there, and I'll go start baking."

"Sounds good to me." Gladion said.

He went and sat down, while Lillie waited for the Malasadas to be ready. The news had been playing on the TV set in the main area. One of those news shows that seemed to show bias for certain stories, and would exaggerate a bunch of other stories.

Mohn used to watch things like this before he dissappeared. Never really believed all the news stories, only watched that channel to know the weather, as they were always spot on.

"Separate the art from the artist." Mohn used to say when asked about it. "If they do one good thing and the rest of it is garbage, you should focus on the good thing. Only focus on the good thing, not the bad thing, or the artist."

Gladion wondered if that could be applied to Lusamine, the thought always seemed to cross his mind time and time again. But then again, he would remember everything she would try to do to him and Lillie, and realize that she was too far out in the deep end to do so. Everything that involved the Aether Foundation would have the taint of Lusamines name. People even asked if he was related to her. Now even if he was, Gladion never wanted to be associated with her.

"That'll be ten dollars Ms. You have ten dollars no?"

"Yeah, I've got it." Lillie reached into her bag, making sure Nebby didn't jump out, and pulled out ten dollars.

"Here you go."

"Thank you! Enjoy your meal!"

"You too!" Lillie said, grabbing the box of Malasadas. 'Did I really just say you too?' Lillie asked herself as she brought the box of Malasadas to their table.

"Its nice they always serve the Malasadas fresh, don't you think?" Lillie asked.

"Yeah, I guess it is."

They were enjoying themselves, munching on the Malasadas they got specifically for themselves, when Lillie caught something on the news that Gladion hadn't noticed.

"Hey Gladie, look! Seems they're doing a special report!"

"Is it the usual nonsense this channel plays? Like I've seen them bashing on left leaning folks while father watched it."

"No, its nothing like that! Its about mother, she has something she wants to discuss with the people!"

"Why are you so intrigued by this? Don't you remember what she did to us?? What she did to you?!"

"Will you calm down a minute? She doesn't know that we're here!"

"I-"

"Shh! I think it might be starting!"

The scene was on Aether Paradise, in the mansion specifically. The Camera was following Lusamine, as she gave a tour of the mansion, as well as discussing the recent events that happened in Alola. The hurricane, the crime wave from Team Skull, the death of Hala.

"Why is she doing a tour of the mansion?"

"I'm not sure, she might be up to something."

"Oh! Before I forget, there's been something I've been meaning to reveal to the public over the past few days." Lusamine said.

"Oh God what is it?" Gladion asked.

"We found someone in the Kanto region not that long ago..."

"I'm gonna go grab a drink." Gladion said, getting up.

"Who might that be Lusamine?" The reporter asked.

"I have a long lost son... you know how two of my children went missing a few years ago?"

"She's talking about us!" Lillie said.

"The Hell is she talking about? Long lost son?" Gladion asked, coming back with a soda cup.

"I'm not sure. Frankly I have no idea, maybe we have an older or younger brother that went missing or ran away?"

She came up to Elios bedroom. "He's in here..."

"She put someone in my old bedroom?" She knocked on the door, and Elio came out, seemingly surprised by the camera in his face.

"Mother? Why do we have to do this?"

"I can tell you later, can't you just follow along?"

"The Hell??" Gladion said. Lillie was watching intently, confused, when she put her hand on her mouth, horrified by what she was seeing. Moments later, Gladion seemed to realize too.

"Oh my God... thats Elio!!" Lillie said.

"What the hell happened!? He looks like us!!"

"What did mother do to him!?" Lillie stared in shock at the screen.

She grabbed Gladions hand, and they both ran out without the Malasadas.

"We have to get the professor!!"

"What is he going to do!?"

"He can do something!!"

"He can do something!!"

Lillie ran out of the shop, while Gladion stood there, dumbstruck and horrified.

"Elio... what happened to you??" He then came back to reality, and realized that Lillie had ran out.

"Lillie! Wait!" He didn't even grab the Malasadas as he ran out. Lillie hadn't made it very far, but she was still running quickly. Gladion had a bit of trouble catching up, and placed his hand on her shoulder to get her to stop.

"Lillie..."

"What is it?? We need to get the professor! We need to get the authorities!"

"What the Hell do you want to do!? Ride in there on a ship, stride into the mansion and remove him from the Paradise!? You know how mother is! We don't even know if Elio is still himself!"

"Gladie, you need to listen to me! If we managed to escape ourselves, we can get back in! We might be able to get him out!"

"And what if we can't? What if Mother traps us along with Elio??"

"We need to have faith that we can do this..."

"We don't even have a plan! Or even a way to get to Aether Paradise!"

"We can formulate a plan, I'm sure you know that. We just need the help of the professor and Hau."

"Don't know id they'll even be willing to mess with the affairs of the Foundation."

They made it back soon enough, and burst through the door, to find Hau and Kukui playing Go-Fish.

"Hau! Kukui!"

"Yeah?" Hau asked.

"Whats up?" Kukui added.

"We know what happened to Elio!" Lillie shouted.

Hau got up exitedly. "Wait, you do?? Where is he?!"

"About time we got some leads..."

"Turn on Thievul News, you'll see it."

Kukui turned the TV on, and changed it to channel 8, Thievul News.

It was still in the mansion, with the cameras on Elio and Lusamine, and Elio seemed to be quite uncomfortable.

"Mother? Do I have to answer all their questions? I honestly can't remember that far back."

"Don't worry... can you stop questioning him?? He's quite uncomfortable."

"C'mon!" The reporter asked.

"The people will want to know about his life in Kanto!"

"Holy shit..." Kukui said.

"I knew there was a possibility he could have met a grim fate, but this is worse than anything I could have imagined!!"

Hau was just silent, unable to believe what he was seeing.

"I thought he was dead... he might not be, but with what he called mother, he minus well be!" Gladion said.

"He didn't always have the Presidents accent, did he??" Kukui asked.

"No no, he had the same accent as Hau and Hala!"

Elio had just gone quiet, trying to keep from making eye contact while Lusamine told the reporter off.

"Look at him... he's never acted like that before. He was always so cheery like Hau, but... he seems more reserved now." Gladion said.

Everyone was silent for a few minutes, just processing the information of Elios fate, before Lillie spoke up.

"I know what we must do."

"What is that Lillie?" Kukui asked.

"We need to get him out of there."

"What!? How the hell are we going to Aether Paradise!?"

"Thats what I said!" Gladion added.

"He's our friend! Why shouldn't we get him out of there??"

"If Mother finds out we snuck back onto Aether Paradise, we'll be five shades more fucked than if she had us dragged back by force! Why are you obsessing over it anyway??"

"I owe it to him to help him! He saved Nebby for me on the bridge to the ruins of Conflict, I've felt like I should return the favor if he ever needs it!"

"Lillie..." Kukui said.

"Thats really admirable of you, but... we don't have a way to get to Aether Paradise without being caught."

"Does it really matter?? I'm pretty sure you have a boat, you have a rifle and that pistol, Gladion has Type: Null! Hau even has his Decidueye! I have Elios pokémon! I don't understand why we can't go in guns blazing!"

"We need to be realistic about this! The Foundation will certainly have more manpower as well as firepower. Going in guns blazing will certainly be a death sentence for the four of us. If we're to get him out of there, we'll need to take a more stealth approach."

"How long will that take to coordinate? We seriously can't waste any time! If Lillie ever told you what Mother was like to us after our Father dissappeared, you'll know how dire Elios situation would be! Not to mention what horrors had to be done to make him look like us!"

Hau then finally spoke up.

"Wait a moment... the President of the Aether Foundation is your mother??"

"Yeah, she... was." Lillie said.

"No matter. We can't waste any time getting my brother out of there. If we can, we might be able to find a way to reverse... whatever was done. If not, we should hope that they didn't do any more drastic experiments on him..."

"Well then." Kukui said.

"Where do we begin?"

What's in your head?

After everything that had happened over the past two weeks, Aether Paradise seemed peaceful for once. There was always a constant stream of tourists, some needing to get their minds off of the storm, some from other parts of the world. The employees cared for the Pokémon in the conservation areas, while others did manual labor across the different sectors of the Paradise. They came and gone, on and off the Paradise, like Combee in their hives, bringing in pokémon that some trainers weren't able to care for. Others left to deliver the humanitarian aid that the islands were in such dire need of.

Some scientists studied the properties of the FFE, not knowing of its origins, or what or what it had been used for. It wasn't water, nor was it like a slime. It was a viscous fluid, with a mix of synthetic and organic origin. Looking at the fluid under a microscope, it was seen that there were human cells within it. Specifically, the cells that would be seen on the epidermis of the skin.

These scientists weren't told why this fluid was created. Many of them couldn't figure out what this stuff had been created, though they figured out what it did. One of them would accidentally get it on their skin, and it would end up giving them what looked like a birth mark. A blotch of pale skin that most of the time, would go unnoticed. Their arm was usually covered, so why worry about it? It was harmless, and in no way was it malignant. "Out of sight out of mind" is what they'd say about it.

Though there is someone we all know who certainly wouldn't agree at all at that junction. That is, if he was even able to remember what was done to him.

He had been sleeping peacefully, book still in hand. He had fallen asleep while reading, as his lamp was still on, and the book was open with its pages being slightly crinkled. His dreams? Not what anyone in the Foundation would have expected. Rather than dreams of the implanted memories of his years in Kanto, or relaxing in a Café there or on the Paradise, it was something darker. Something was coming back to the surface, even if he had no idea what.

He had been brought into a room on the Paradise he had no recollection of. The lights were harsh on his eyes, as there had been multiple bright, white fluorescent lights hanging above his head. The room was large, with multiple paths which looked like bridges spread all throughout. Some led to other doors, some led to dead ends. A greenish light could be seen coming from below, which he couldn't make out very well due to the light pollution falling from above.

They removed the handcuffs on his hand, as he could hear someone walking in behind him and Faba. Wait, Faba was here as well?

'What's Faba doing here? Where even am I?' He thought, just before he saw who had walked in after them.

"Mother?' He tried to speak, yet nothing came out, as Lusamine approached him.

She grabbed his bloody arm, and he was surprised to see the skin on his arm was darker. What was going on? Why did he have blood on his arm?

"My my... you actually went through with an amputation Faba? I must say, I admire your dedication to our projects."

'Amputation? What on Earth is she talking about??'

She let go of his arm, and grabbed his chin, making Elio uncomfortable.

"So... you're Akaris son... you don't know how good it feels to see you again. Its a shame what happened to her, she was one of our greatest minds. Oh well, good things don't last forever I suppose."

'Akari?? Who is that? What happened to her?'

Elio spoke, though it wasn't him speaking. It was whoevers perspective he was watching from speaking. They sounded just like him, making him even more confused.

"What do you... want with me?"

"Oh my dear boy, I don't want you. I want what you'll soon become... what I will make you into."

"Please... I just want to go home..."

"Oh my sweet boy... soon you'll want nothing more than to be with me."

'Home? Isn't Aether Paradise my home??'

Lusamine released her grip on his chin.

"Put him in."

Faba and another employee grabbed his arms. While Elio tried to resist, he found that he couldn't move, but only watch.

'Get off of me Faba!!' He wanted to yell, but nothing came out. They brought him to one of the dead ends, and he could then see where the green glow came from. A vat of the FFE, with its peach and green colors swirling in an endless motion. It looked as if it was boiling, yet Elio couldn't feel any heat emanating from it.

They stripped him almost completely bare, tossing his clothes to the side, yet Faba stopped them before it could be done completely.

"No, no... let the boy keep some of his dignity. Its the least we can do."

They pulled him back up by his arms, and brought him even closer. Close enough that his feet were right on the edge of the platform.

"No... please..."

"Tell that to the president kid."

They let go of his arms, and Faba shoved him in, and Elio yelped as he fell.

He fell into the vat with a large splash, and was completely submerged for a moment. He came back to the surface, splashing and struggling, as the FFE glued itself to his body. He kept going under and resurfacing, each time more consumed by it. He was struggling, no, drowning in the goo. He would come up, gasping for breath, barely getting enough to not drown when he was dragged back under. Sizzling could be heard as he was struggling to keep himself afloat, to escape what was being done.

"Fascinating... this new batch becomes active almost instantaneously. Seems our hard work is paying off..."

He could barely recognize he was changing, and only saw the splotches of pale skin when he grabbed onto the platform to pull himself out. He grabbed onto the railing, and they could see the effects of the FFE. His hair had taken on a sort of salt and pepper look, a mix of Lusamines platinum blond and his black hair. Patches of Lusamines skin tone could be seen all over his body, with his left arm being completely overtaken by it. His face even looked like it was half overtaken by it too.

Elio saw the look Lusamine had in her eyes. Her breathing was off, and her eyes were wide, and an almost inhuman smile on her face.

'Mother... why aren't you doing anything?'

He was about to pull himself up and run when Faba grabbed his wrist.

"Did I say you were done boy? Get back in there!"

'Why are you doi-' He couldn't finish the thought as he was thrown back in, landing even deeper than the first time.

The fluid clung to his skin even more, consuming like a cocoon that countless insects used to evolve into the final stages of their lives. Soon, it had completely wrapped over his body, and his hand breached the surface as he tried to swim back to the stop. Marks similar to burns could be seen as small amounts of steam emitted from it, until it went back under the surface. Elios consciousness faded, as he ran out of oxygen, and moments later would be pulled out.

He woke up screaming, sitting up almost immediately. He looked at his hands, seeing that they were the same as he remembered them. Almoet ghostly pale.

"What was that? Where... was I?" He put a hand on his forehead, in an attempt to soothe a headache that had appeared. He could feel a pair of eyes staring through him, yet he tried to ignore it, focusing on his headache. Yet soon he could ignore it no longer, and turned to face where he thought the gaze came from.

In the darkness where the lamps light much further, and Lusamines green eyes stared back at him. The light from the lamp reflected in them, and half of her face was illuminated. She wore an expression that had mortified both Gladion and Lillie in the past. Elio couldn't see, nor hear it, but she seemed to be arguing with herself in her head.

'You came this far, you can't...'

'It will hurt him. You drove those two away. You can't drive him away too.'

'We cannot be denied.'

"Mother?"

'He's seen us. We can't do it, you've seen what Faba has made him into.' The other side didn't respond, and the voice of reason seemed to win the day.

"What're you doing in here?"

'He sounds so nervous... so sweet.'

"I-I heard you scream. I came to check if you were alright."

"Why were you looking at me like that? I remember you doing that before."

"I... I'd rather not speak about that."

She left his room, leaving him alone to his own thoughts about what had just happened.

'Why has mother been so strange ever since I arrived?'

He didn't want to say it, but she made him nervous. Something felt off about her, and he couldn't put his finger on why that was. It gave him a headache to try and remember if she had done anything in the past. Maybe he could ask her? That might be his only option. She was the only person he had to talk to most of the time anyway. Other than that Lysandre guy. He was nice, but he seemed a bit creepy. Though considering if a guy is like eight feet tall, you might be intimidated by him at first.

Later on, after a night where Elio barely got any more sleep due to his headache, Lusamine was in her office, seemingly on an important phone call.

"What do you mean you couldn't Eliminate the Kahunas grandson??" Lusamine asked.

"Ms. Prez, I can tell you that wasn't our fault. The little shit got away before we could due him in."

"Well have you done anything to find him at all!?"

"Actually, we kinda have made some progress on that. Kid is on MeleMele still, and I'll say we did some.... things I ain't proud of to find that out." Guzma said.

"Well where is he??"

"He's staying with the professor. But he's not the only one there."

"I'm listening?"

"Remember how I said we were searching all over the islands for your biological kids?"

"I remember well. Yes."

"We found em."

"Wait, are you serious? Tell me where!"

"Seems like they were some of the refugees that came to the tent cities, as we found some of their belongings in one. But that's not where they're were."

"Get to the point Guzma."

"They're staying with the professor as well. We saw them leaving Hau'oli during your interview and coming to the professors crib."

"Why didn't you collect them you idiot??"

"Kukui had more firepower than we did at the time. It was too big of a risk."

"Well go get them and bring them here! Don't fail me like you did with the Kahunas grandson! I don't want my boys brother to come and make him impure!"

She hung up the phone, as Elio knocked on the door.

"Come in..."

"Mother?" He opened the door slowly, before coming in.

"Oh, Elio! You didn't hear anything of what I just said, right?"

"No, not really. I only heard something about the Kahunas, the rest was mostly muffled. You sounded upset, is something wrong?"

"No no! Nothing is wrong, I was just worried about some of our family members."

"We have other family members?" Elio asked in a curious tone.

"Yes, why wouldn't we? They got... caught up in the storm before you arrived."

"Who are they?" He cocked his head slightly.

"I haven't told you about them?"

"No mother, you didn't."

"You have a brother and sister, I would have thought you might have faint memories of them."

"I have siblings?" He had gasped in excitement at the thought of that.

'There is one that won't matter now...' Lusamine thought before she spoke.

"Yes, my child, you have siblings. They're a bit older than you, but they're almost nothing like you. Your... sister might have been a bookworm like you. But other than that, you're completely different. Unlike them, you're perfect... beautiful."

Something was truly different about Elio, she just couldn't put her finger on it. Her heart would flutter for a moment every time she saw him.

"You say the both of us are perfect, though I've never seen myself that way. What makes my siblings different?"

"They were meant to be perfect like you... like us. You'll see why, they'll be here soon. They'll get to meet you for the first time... almost a decade."

Elio seemed to be almost jumping from excitement for a moment, but quickly calmed down.

"There was something I wanted to talk to you about mother. May I ask?"

"What is it sweetie?"

"I had a nightmare last night... though it didn't feel like a dream."

Lusamine stopped fiddling with her pen for a moment.

"Would you mind telling me what it was?"

"It looked like I was on Aether Paradise, but somewhere I hadn't seen before. Some kind of large room with platforms suspended above multiple vats. You were there, Mr. Faba was there, and I think I might have been seeing through someone else's eyes."

"Wh-what makes you say that?" Lusamine was shocked hearing this, realizing the implications of what he was saying.

"Whoevers perspective I was watching from seemed to be about the same height as me, but they looked different. Their skin was darker than ours, but it wasn't for long. They were stripped almost completely, down to the bare minimum, and thrown into one of the vats. Their skin started to change color, to the same one we have. They tried to get out of the vat, but Mr. Faba shoved them back in. Their skin then changed to the same tone as ours."

Lusamine was completely taken aback by what she heard, and could only mutter one thing.

"By Arceus..."

Could our minds lie?

They always say that reality is a story that the mind tells itself. An artificial construct conjured from millions of synapses firing at once. Reality sometimes is not what it seems. Our senses lie to us, our environments don't really look as they seem. Color comes from light coming into our eyes. Our eyes are able to comprehend the invisible spectrum within the light, and see the colors of that spectrum in every object in our environment. The Truth can be strange at times, and sometimes we wouldn't want to know it. "Blissful Ignorance" is what they would call it. Many wouldn't want to know, or remember their past. Some can't remember their past, through no fault of their own, so their mind would have to create the links in the chain of their memory. These memories could be so strange, the only way it could come into existence is lies from their mind. But know this, our minds can lie. Never doubt it.

The one who had his mind intruded upon, no, had his mind split into twain, the headaches were only the beginning. What other effects there could, no, will be, it would be discovered in time. He had been reading peacefully, engrossed in his books enough to almost be completely oblivious to the world around him. It was the same book he had been reading since he arrived, "The Infernal city." He would have been able to finish it earlier if it weren't for the interruptions from his "mother." She had always wanted him to be by her side, yet he preferred to stay alone for a couple reasons. He found her creepy, as he could see the look she gave him, yet he didn't recognize it. What did it mean?

It was the same look in her eyes when he woke up to her standing in his room. A fire that seemed like it couldn't go out. Flames that burned bright with the venomous twinge that both mother and "son" had in their eyes. Except with Lusamine, it could be said that the venom in her eyes were more literal. Something about it felt wrong, but he didn't know what. Why would it be? His mother could do no evil after all, could she? He didn't know, as he didn't know her well at all. After all, they had only been reunited recently.

Maybe she would tell him why? She told him earlier something big was happening today, so perhaps she could explain then?

He was reading when she had come into his room, interrupting another reading session.

"Hello mother... did you need something?"

"Yes sweetie, I infact did."

"What is it?"

"I need you to get into your best clothes, I need you to be at a meeting with me today."

"Do I have to come with you?"

"The meeting is about you. It only make sense that you come along."

"I don't understand. Aren't you able to talk about me without me being with you?"

"Yes. But I just want you to be with me, alright? I like your company, is that too much to ask?"

"I don't think so mother."

"Good, that's what I thought."

Elio went over to the dresser kept in his room to get ready.

"Elio, do you need any help? I can help if... thats what you want." She had that look in her eyes again. Lillie and Gladion would have recognized the look, as they had seen it many times before. They knew it wasn't a good sign of what would happen in times to come, though Elio didn't recognize it. Even before the Foundation put him through that strange form of shock therapy, he wouldn't have recognized it. He had never seen it before, so he wouldn't even understand then.

"You got the Capri that I wanted, right mother?"

"Yes, I did. Why don't you wear it for the meeting?"

"I will then." He went over to his bed after getting the clothes, and pulled the drapes back over for his privacy. When he came out, Lusamine had been pleasantly surprised by what Elio chose.

He had the Capri he requested for on, as well as a white button up polo shirt. The Capri had an olive green color, as well as lime green pockets, with the edges of the legs being lime green color. It had the same concept to the old pair he once wore, except the colors were completely different to most Capri pants sold in clothing stores around the region, or when they were sold. Mainly that the only difference between different pairs sold at stores were mainly black, with the colors changing in the pockets. The polo shirt also had the same gold trim as Lusamines dress. It even had a little Aether trident instead of the symbol the shirt usually had.

"What do you think mother?"

"It looks wonderful Elio. Now let's go, I have something special for you when we're done with the meeting."

Elio sounded slightly exited at the prospect.

"What is it??"

"Something that will make us match. Wouldn't that be nice? The two most important members of our Foundation, wearing matching outfits?"

"How am I important to the Aether Foundation?"

"Because Elio..."

Lusamine kneeled down, and placed her hand on his shoulder.

"Its because you're special. Special to the Aether Foundation in more ways than one, I have designated you as my heir after all."

His eyes lit up even more. "I'm... your heir?"

"Yes, you are. Your sister was originally going to be my heir... but I've chosen you for the role instead."

"Why did you choose me mother? What's so special about me?"

"I've told you many times before, haven't I? You are perfect. We, are perfect. Did I not tell you what makes you perfect, unlike your brother and sister?"

"I don't believe you have? Is something wrong with them?"

"I don't need to tell you my son... You'll meet your siblings soon enough."

She grabbed his hand, and they both left the mansion together, and entered the main sector of Aether Paradise. They came to what looked like a conference room, and all of the people that played a role in making Elio what he is now was there. Lysandre, Xerosic, Faba, and a couple other unnamed scientists.

"Greetings Ms. President, and I see you brought your "son" with you?" Lysandre asked.

"Hey Mr. Ly!" Elio said.

"Hello child..."

Elio saw Faba, and seemed to try and hide behind Lusamine.

"Whats wrong Ellie?"

"Mr. Faba... something doesn't feel right about him."

"Calm down Ellie, Faba has done nothing wrong."

"I'm not sure... remember that nightmare I told you about a few days ago?"

"That was a nightmare, don't I keep telling you that?"

"Yes... but it felt so real!"

Faba approached Elio, and placed a hand on his shoulder.

"I can... assure you my boy, whatever I did in that nightmare of yours, I didn't actually do..." Faba said, an artificial warmth in his voice.

"That's actually the reason I have called you all here today."

"You want us to handle a child's nightmares? Well a request like that is just ridiculous!"

''That isn't what I'm requesting from all of you! You're only looking at the tip of the iceberg, as this problem lies deep below the surface!"

"Enough with the philosophical talk Ms. President, can't you just tell us what the problem is?"

"I think Elio should describe what is happening."

They sat Elio down and gave him a juice pouch to get him comfortable. Lysandre, Xerosic and Faba had glasses of water. Lusamine however, had something different. A wine glass full of Vinho Verde, imported all the way from Paldea.

"So... Elio, tell us. Tell us about your... nightmares." Lysandre asked.

"Well... these nightmares have felt more real than any of the dreams I've had before. Usually, my dreams are of my life in Kanto. I lived with a gang of street rats in Viridian City, living off of what we could to survive. But these nightmares... they were so much worse." He began to shiver a bit.

"Mr. Faba... he shoved me into a vat of fluid... it was like I was drowning in whatever it was. I had climbed out of it, yet he threw me back in..."

Fabas eyes widened. "Do you... remember looking any different to how you look now?"

"Yes actually... my skin appeared darker compared to anyone in this room. When I climbed out, my skin looked like a mix of the skintone I have now, and that darker tone. Like different tones in different areas."

"Did you... have any nightmares like that before this one?"

"No... not really. But I swear... that nightmare was so clear, it felt more like a memory than a nightmare."

"I see... I will have to talk to your mother about this. Ms. President, may I dismiss your son?"

"Yes you may. Go back to the mansion Elio, I'll be back in an hour or so."

"Yes mother..."

When Elio left the room, he could hear everyone in the room begin to talk again. He didn't want to eavesdrop, though he could hear his name being mentioned, even if it was muffled. The inquisitive part of his mind that had been programmed into him seemed to almost act on its own accord, he just had to know!

He carefully pressed an ear against the wall, and was careful to be silent.

"What are we to do with him? His memories seem to be returning!" Xerosic asked.

"Are you an idiot or a scientist? We can just put him through another session of Shock Therapy! If it worked to erease his memories it will work again!" Faba yelled.

"I thought that you said those memories would be swept out like dust in the wind! Is your machine faulty or did you lie to me??"

"Alright Ms. President, I'll admit. Maybe the helmet was faulty, but even if it only suppresses memories, we can make sure they stay suppressed this time. It's a matter of how the brain works under stress you see."

"Oh really? Do explain. Give me a good explanation that will save your job."

Faba was sweating a small amount.

"As I said, its a matter of how the brain works under stress. We caused pain through shock therapy by administering those needles through the skull. We combined that with the powerful cocktail of drugs, as well as the slide shoe of people that were important in his life, and the different images and videos of your interviews. The final result was that through the stress his brain was put under, all those memories were forcibly repressed. With the cocktail, he would have associated good feelings with you. We just need to put him through the shock therapy again, albeit the shocks must have more power behind them. All that would be needed is to plant the false memories again. I trust that you remember how to install the machine to do so?"

Elio was completely shocked by what he was hearing. Cocktail of drugs? Shock Therapy? Was that why his head hurt whenever he tried to recall his memories in Kanto or the gaps in his knowledge? No, no, it couldn't be. He could still remember his time in Kanto, wasn't that how he lived before all this?

"Should we plant different memories this time? I feel like after we put him through the shock therapy again, we should make his 'Origin-story' different." Lusamine said.

Elio had heard enough, and left to go back to the mansion. Though when he got back, he seemed to have some kind of existential crisis.

"Are my memories fake? How could they be fake? They're all so clear, they can't be!
If they are, what does that make me? Am I even related to mother, or do I even look like her?"

Then, a voice could be heard. A woman's voice, but one unlike Lusamines. One that seemed soothing yet eerie, and yet coming from nowhere.

"She cannot hide the truth from you forever... your discovery proves that."

"Who- who are you?"

"Who I am, who we are doesn't matter. You wouldn't remember who you are, or who I am. What matters now is rediscovering who YOU are."

"What on Earth are you talking about??"

"You are right to wonder if your memories are fake. Those memories keep you bound to your floating prison."

"Well if they're fake, then who am I really?"

"That is for you to find out. You must break the chains that bind you to this place. The key to those chains lies in the depths of this 'Aether Paradise.' I, no, we trust that you will be able to discover the truth on your own accord... brother."

"Brother? Who are you? Are you one of my siblings Mother was talking about?"

"Not... exactly. We aren't related by blood you see, nor are you related to those your 'mother' told you about."

"Then why do you call me brother?"

Four voices could then be heard.

"The four of us were reborn in an attempt to make it so that the light that burns the sky couldn't harm our world. You, however were different. The same resources that gave us rebirth were used on you... albeit by force."

Elio looked nervous. "What do you mean, by force?"

"You will see for yourself in time. Now remember, the answers of which you seek lies in the depths of this island forged by the hand of man."

The voices vanished, and Elio was left alone.

"Hello? Are you still there?" Nothing answered back. But then...

"I am still here my son..." Lusamine said, opening the door.

"What were you going on about? I could hear you talking even in the hall."

"Oh... nothing really, I was just talking to myself is all.

"Sure didn't sound like nothing."

"I was talking to myself about my dreams..." Elio was starting to feel nervous again. The same kind of nervous feeling he got from Faba. What would you call it? He wasn't sure.

"Alright then... now. You remember me saying something about getting something for us to both have matching outfits?"

"Yes... why you ask?"

"I have something for you... hold your hands out."

"Alright."

Elio held his hands out, and Lusamine placed something in them. It was a gift box, the box was pure white, and the ribbon had the Foundations signature golden color.

"Is this for me?" His voice was trembling, though Lusamine figured it was out of excitement.

"Yes. Go ahead, open it." He untied the ribbon, and opened the box, revealing some kind of choker. Slightly looked like a spaceship in that movie with the black goo from another planet. It was made of black Galvanized Steel, with two Emeralds implanted into it, one on each side.

"What'd you think Elio? He put the jewelry around his neck as she asked, and went over to the mirror.

"It... looks wonderful mother."

"What's wrong Ellie? You've been acting strange all morning."

"This doesn't exactly match... does it? Thats what feels wrong..." A harmless lie so she wouldn't know what he heard.

"Of course it does! You wear Emeralds on your outfit, I wear one on mine! That's what completes our outfits!"

Lusamine seemed none the wiser to what he knew. Yet he wanted to know more. He had to do what the voices he heard told him. He had already heard Lusamine and Faba discussing performing another session of Shock Therapy, he had to know why they were saying that. He had to learn the truth, one way or another. Could it explain the gaps in his knowledge?

"I suspect you don't like how you look with it on."

"Thats not the reason mother..."

"What is it then?"

"Every part of this just feels... wrong. I don't know why."

"I don't know why either. I'd say its because of how long you spent living on the streets in Kanto. I mean think about it Elio. You spent your whole life living on the streets, scrounging up whatever you could to get by. Sleeping on benches with only a newspaper as a 'blanket.' But look at you now. You have a loving home, clean clothes, the comforts of modern life."

"Please don't remind me of those times mother..."

"I understand Elio... I'm sorry."

The boy was silent for a moment.

"Mother?"

"What is it?"

"When will my siblings be here?"

"I haven't been notified about when they will come back. But I'm sure they will come back soon..."

"Can you find a way to get them to come back sooner?"

"I can see what I can do..." Lusamine left the room, and Elio was left to his thoughts.

"Am I even related to my siblings?? What am I? Who am I??" He was quiet again for a moment.

"The answers must be down in those labs. I need to get down there... even if Mother doesn't want me to. Just... how am I to get down there?"

He would have until night to figure that out, but he would eventually figure out what he would need to do. Even before he had been put through the lobotomy that would also count as shock therapy, he had already been able to sneak his way through an entire town. Granted, that town was Po-Town, and it had been conquered by Team Skull, and they probably wouldn't provide the greatest of security. Nonetheless, he still had the skills to sneak around a group of people, even if he didn't know it.

He had gotten a hoodie on, after he changed into a more comfortable T-Shirt, and brought the hood over his head, so noone would see his face. Though he thought it wasn't really necessary, as he figured there wouldn't be many people down in the labs at this time. But it doesn't hurt to be too careful, right?

He went to look in the mirror, to see if he looked good enough for the operation. The hood cast a shadow over his face, making it difficult to make out his facial features. It was clear a kid was wearing a hoodie, though the shadow made it so that they wouldn't know who the kid was. The only feature that could be made out were those luminous green eyes. They had the same kind of glow as Lusamines, which Lillie and Gladion lacked. Why might that be?

Perhaps that luminescence was ambition? Elio always had ambition, as did Lusamine. Whatever it may have been, it was just another thing that mother and son had in common now.

"Lets hope this works..." He sighed, as he realized this might be the only chance to learn the truth.

"Here goes nothing..." He left his bedroom carefully, making sure not to make alot of sound. He put his ear to Lusamines bedroom door too, to make sure she was asleep. Nothing but silence, he was good to go.

He exited the mansion, making sure to close the door behind him. There was a full moon out tonight, so there was a soft blue glow cast upon the ocean, as well as Aether Paradise. Elio noticed something peculiar about it, the moonlight made it so that what little exposed skin he had almost seemed translucent.

"Hm. Neat.

He entered the main building, to see that noone was working in the area. Though it would probably be expected that an intern wouldn't be working at 1 in the morning.

Soon enough, he would make it to the elevator, and was trying to figure out which button led down to the lab.

"Alright... which one... which one is it?"

One button had a symbol of a palm tree, and one had an image of the Sun. One of them had an image of a boat, and the bottom one had an image of a flask with an orange chemical inside it.

"That bottom one has to be it." He pressed the button, and almost immediately the elevator began to make its descent, catching Elio off guard.

"Well... I didn't expect it to work that fast."

The elevator went past multiple floors, though most of them seemed the same. One of them was the dock floor, and the smell of sea salt was present for a mere moment before being replaced by the stuffy air of the labs. The descent felt familiar to Elio, as if he had gone down here multiple times before. It made him even more curious, just what was hiding down in the depths of Aether Paradise? It was too late for him to go back to the mansion now, he had to know.

The elevator came to a sudden halt, and he was at the very bottom of Aether Paradise. The ocean could be heard outside the walls, making the walls groan and strain from the pressure put on them.

"How far down an I?" Elio asked upon hearing the strain from the water pressure. He proceeded through the halls with caution, since it felt as if he was being watched. Eyes from the shadows, or an unseen being from under the bridges he had to walk on. Maybe it was just fish in the water under the bridges? Was he being watched? No. No, he was just being paranoid, well thats what he told himself. He had been avoiding the cameras in the halls, sticking to the dead-zones to remain unseen.

A nagging feeling in his head told him that he shouldn't be here, two feelings for two different reasons. One that "mother" would be upset if he was caught down in the labs. The other told him that it was too dangerous to be down here, they would do God knows what to him if he was caught. Like an angel and devil on his shoulders, except he didn't listen to either of them.

Many of the rooms labels were off-putting to him, many were even labeled with words he hadn't heard before. Cryology, Biology, Cosmology, but one stood out to him. Neurology. If they were talking about wiping his memories, it possibly had something to do with his brain. Brains are filled with nerves, right?

This has to be it.

He opened the door slowly, making sure there wasn't anyone inside. Once he was sure of it, he closed the door behind him, and proceeded to take in surroundings. There were a couple posters on the walls, addressing the anatomy of a Motor Neuron. The Nucleus, Dendrites, Mitochondrias, as well as the rest of the organelles within the Neuron. Fascinating stuff, but Elio didn't come for a lesson on cells. There was an opened file on the ground, with papers scattered around the floor. The file had a red symbol on it, one in the shape of a flame, and the file had an orange color to it overall.

He picked up one of those papers, and was skimming over it. Something about a woman named "Byrony." The outcomes of her "procedure." He didn't pay much attention to it, and tossed it to the side. But then, he noticed another file. A file with the Aether Foundations Trident logo on it. One that had been closed, and with a half full cup of coffee next to it, now cold. The file was even labled: "Shock Therapy exercise."

This has to be it.

Elio picked it up, and opened it up.

"Well... here goes nothing."

(I understand that your President has wanted Team Flares assistance in "reprogramming" the brain of someone who holds great importance to her. Well I can be of great assistance when it comes to that, as Team Flare has meddled with the minds of its members, more specifically those that were more unwilling to go through with our plans of activating the Ultimate Weapon. Though I understand that you don't want a soldier or scientist, just a boy who thinks that he is related to the Aether Foundation President? Very well. I have come up with a very specific procedure to change his mind. It won't matter if the boy has an iron will or not, as it doesn't involve breaking his mind. You see, it all comes down to Shock Therapy. Team Flare has used it on those unwilling to join our cause, to erease their memories and make them think they were always with us.

Sometimes it would fail, and even without their memories would flee. We had attempted to use that on an 8 foot tall homeless man, who would prove to he way more resilient than he had appeared. If it weren't for those damned kids catching the God we had used to power the Ultimate Weapon and breaking him out, we could have found a way to break through that shield of resilience. But I hear your Foundation has a way to implant false memories? How did you figure that out exactly? Through that Beast Killer of yours? You implanted memories so that the specimens would think that they are what they weren't. Grown in a tank, and augmented as if they were some kind of android.)

"Are they... talking about me?"

(Well I'd say we combine our technology through a structure similar to the helmets that you force the Beast Killer Specimens to wear. In order to shock the brain, we would need to pierce the skull, as it would be much more difficult to apply nodes with the helmet. I suggest the helmet because a slideshow would be needed to give him the false impression that the Aether Foundation President is his mother, along with photos of prominent figures in his life. Friends, families, locations, pokémon. Everything that isn't needed must be ereased.

Now onto the procedure. The helmet must be planted on his head while he is awake, as he cannot see the slideshow whilst unconscious. Once the slideshow is active, we activate the helmet itself. The needles will pierce the skull and enter the brain, causing great pain upon entry. Once the slideshow begins, the helmet scans his brain for any connections made from the memories, and shock the brain through the needles. Through the applied shock, the brain will be sent into a state of fight for flight. He will be trying to keep those memories from being ereased, I am sure of it, but he wouldn't have to worry about that. His memories won't be ereased per say, but his brain will seemingly suppress those memories. They'll be buried too deep down to come back to the surface, or at least in theory.

From there, chemicals, more specifically mind altering drugs must be used with the clips and images of the President. He would associate the sensations from the extreme rush of Dopamine with the President, as he would not have any memories left to associate them with anything else. All that would be left is to use your technology to change his personality, and I can confirm that he will be hers.)

"This has to be talking about me!! But I can't remember this! Did this actually happen, or is this just a failed project??"

He turned the page of the file, to see a blueprint of the helmet. The needles, the rusty helmet, the screen.

Everything came flooding back there. The kidnapping, the interrogation, the amputation, the dipping... his mind being wiped, as well as the rest of his previous life. It all came back at once, and he had been forced to stand there for about two minutes, due to the shock of all those memories coming back at once.

"Mother... she put me through this? No. No she couldn't have. She's been so kind to me!" He remembered that she almost slit his throat, trying to kiss him, her watching him be dipped in the FFE. He remembered everything she tried to snuff out.

"She... actually had me put through this... how could she??" He felt as if he was going to be sick here and there. He would almost immediately feel the same urge to escape to escape as he did before he was first put through the Shock Therapy.

"I'm not restrained at least... but how the Hell am I gonna get out of here??"

He then had an idea, remembering something that the file mentioned.

He looked back at the file, and noticed it mentioned Beast-Killer, and back to the blue print.

"Is that the Helmet that Gladions pokémon wore?"

He then realized what the "Beast Killer" was.

"I think I might have a new means of escape..." He left the room with caution again, stuffing the necessary papers from the file in the pockets of his hoodie, and entered the Biology room.

"My God... what was she doing here??" There were large tanks in each corner of the room, one that which contained what would become Silvally, or if it had the helmet placed on its head, Type: Null. The helmets were even placed on shelves, one placed on a table under construction. There were even more posters in this room, this time though, of the anatomy of the Silvally. What made up its anatomy, what species were used to create the Beast killers.

"Is this where they created Null? Sure looks like it."

At the end of the room, Elio approached a table. Three pokeballs, with a seal of the Aether Trident on all three.

"Perhaps these contain the Specimens?"

He grabbed one, contemplating on using it to escape to the mainland.

"I hope I won't have to resort to using you..."

"Perhaps these contain the Specimens?"

He grabbed one, contemplating on using it to escape to the mainland.

"I hope I won't have to resort to using you..."

He placed it in the pocket of his hoodie, when he noticed another door in the lab. It didn't look like an exit, no... this was something different. If anything, it seemed as if it led deeper into the lab.

"Maybe... there's something in there that can reverse my condition?" He felt disgusted thinking about how he looked now. His whole body practically wasn't his own at this point. He had become the spitting image of Lusamine, with the only signs of who he once was being his facial features.

Who even was he now? The son of the Aether Foundations President? The son of an immigrant from Kanto? The adoptive grandson of the Kahuna of MeleMele? He didn't want to think about it, as he didn't even know what he would be considered. What would he be exactly? What would one be after going through such a form of ego death, especially at such a young age?

Cases, tragic as they are, weren't common enough throughout history, so it wasn't really known how they would turn out in the end.

He opened the door cautiously, trying to ignore his nausea. The room felt like it went on forever, or whatever the length of Aether Paradise was supposed to be. Just what looked like a bridge with many different rooms sticking out of the water below the bridge. It was like some kind of strange moon-pool, though Elio wasn't worried about that at the moment. One room almost felt as if it was calling to him.

A soft glow could be seen from the labs window, one that was all too familiar to the boy. Soft white and green light. Elio knew immediately what it was. He cautiously entered the room, to find that there were large vials of FFE attached to the counters, and a large machine was near the counter as well. He looked at the tiny window on the center of the machine, to see the fluid moving around inside it, was this where they made it?

He even noticed that there were parts of the machine outside of the main body, working like some kind of strange ventilator. How on Earth did they create this stuff?

Elio went to go for an empty vial sitting on the counter to find a way to fill it up when he noticed something else. It was another file, presumably similar to the one he read moments earlier.

Except this one looked quite different. It had the Baige color that files usually had, and looked like it had Coffee spilled over it.

Elio opened it up, the inquisitive part of his programming getting the better of him, even if he was 'mostly' back to how he once was mentally. The coffee had gone through the file and had contaminated the documents, and he could barely make out anything. The words had been all scrambled, with some of the letters melted together due to the ink being spread around. Little could be made out, but he was able to make out something. Something about human cells, a 2nd layer of skin, Lusamine being some kind of "donor." He didn't understand what he was reading.

He turned the page, to see that this page was stained as well, but the majority of it was just in a corner. It seemed to be a list of... test subjects?

Specimen 001.
Subject designation: Kaden Sato
Age: 22
Specimen is a young immigrant coming from Sinnoh. Showed great amounts of resistance when being brought to the vats. Prototype FFE did not do what we theorized would be done. Instead, caused 2nd degree burns across subjects body.

Results: subject died from infection, no need to terminate if the test already did so.

"Did this person... come before me?"

Specimen 002.
Subject designation: Sofia Perez
Age: 26
Specimen is a tourist coming all the way from Paldea.

Results: Tests gave promising Data, as second layer of skin actually formed, yet hair didn't change color. Specimen was Terminated, as she was no longer needed.

Specimen 003.
Subject designation: Duncan Anderson
Age: 19

Specimen was a former employee of our Foundation. Discovered what had become of Specimen 002, and had to remain silent.

Results: Tests were once again promising when it comes to data, as not only did the second layer of skin form, but the hair changed color as well. Yet the changing of the iris color was a failure. The injections damaged the eyes beyond repair, blinding the subject. Specimen was terminated not long after.

Specimen 004.
Subject designation: Selene Yö
Age: 6

"Wait. SELENE!?"

Specimen was the daughter of an insurgent employee, unfrozen for the tests. The president only seemed to want to use her to spite her former employee.

Results: Both the 2nd layer of skin formed and hair was bleached. Eyes were damaged by injections, yet only one was blinded. Was frozen permanently for future reference.

"Does it say where she is now?? It didn't say she was Terminated!!"

It said none of which Elio wanted to see, only describing one more specimen.

Specimen 005.
Subject designation: Elio Yö
Age: 12

Specimen was the son of the insurgent employee that evaded capture when his mother was silenced. I have to say, his will seems like it is unbreakable, but it doesn't matter with what was done. He was left in the vats longer than his sister, almost drowning in the process. He seemed more pristine than the previous rejects, even his own sister. The Pokerús and Z-crystal tests that he was previously put through even proved to have some positive effects when he was changed. His eyes completely healed when injected with FFE, instead. He's the only one of our subjects to go through the procedures without injuries. Well he healed from them at least.

"I'm the... cream of the crop?"
The thought that crossed his mind quickly faded and was replaced with another. His sister.

"Maybe they're keeping her down here? No.. no they can't be, She'd probably be held in this lab specifically. But it said she was... frozen permanently? What did it mean by that?"

He then put two and two together on where she might be held.

"Wait... frozen, that's being held in place by low temperatures. Cryology is the study of cold stuff, right? Maybe she's in there!"

He left the Biology lab, and made his way to the Cryology lab, all while still being careful. The lab was nothing like the others, even the air felt different. The air was crisp and cool, almost as if Elio had entered a freezer. It was almost as if the air was as fresh as it was on the surface.

"This is a... nice change, I guess..."

The room also had an eerie feeling to it, one that was like there was a presence in the room. Most didn't seem human, yet one did. They weren't observing him, as this wasn't a feeling of being watched. He could sense them, but he didn't know if they could sense him. What was this feeling? He had never felt it before, was it from what they did to him? A side effect of having needles jammed into his skull, and shocking his brain God knows how many times? A thought for a different time, a later time.

Lots of computer monitors were on tables scattered throughout the room, seemingly monitoring... vitals? It didn't seem to record a heartbeat, but something else entirely. It was monitoring... nerual activity?

"Are they recording the nerual activity of those frozen?"

The names of the frozen specimens even seemed to be labled, at least what the Foundation called them.

Chimera 001: inactive
A large amount seemed scrambled, but after about a dozen, it was less scrambled.

Slowpoke 012: life support active
Pikachu 013: life support active
pyukumuku 014: life support active
Starmie 015: life support active
Meowth 016: life support active
Driftloon 017: life support active
Kantonian child 018: life support active.

"She is frozen!! Where is she!?"

He fiddled with the computer, and ended up pulling up a map.

"Almost all of them are in the mansion? They didn't even have the courtesy to say which ones are where!" There was only one specimen in the labs, the rest of them were... in Lusamines mansion.

"Don't tell me... I'm gonna have to go back in there?" The thought of going back in the mansion made his skin crawl, though it felt like the only choice he had. He would get off Aether Paradise, but he wouldn't leave Selene here if he could help it.

"Well... I just hope I won't have to face... her..."

He creeped out of the lab, after scribbling down a makeshift map, and made his way to the elevator. On the way up, he was trying to formulate a plan to find his frozen sister, yet there was a minor problem when it came to that.

A very minor cases of brain fog. Well, what at least felt like brain fog. Why was he experiencing this? Did he have brain damage from the procedures he was put through? He tried to think of a reason, but all the fog made it difficult to think.

If he couldn't think of a plan? Then screw it, he was gonna wing it. Besides, if Lusamine thought he was still MOSTLY how she had programmed him to be, he would still think of think of her as mother. Maybe he could still pretend to be all innocent and timid? He was able to portray characters quite well in plays when he was younger after all. His real mother once said that he should have been an actor.

The mansion felt intimidating to lay eyes upon. Not only was it the size of the building, but the memories of what had happened inside of it. The pain of those memories, and who lived inside of the building... it made Elio almost reconsider going back inside. Though the thought of his sister being trapped inside, with HER, it made him sick. The thoughts of of what she could be doing, what already could have been done, he didn't have a choice in the matter. He had to get Selene out of there.

He entered the mansion, and glanced at his map whole in the main lobby. To get to Selene he had to go through Lusamines personal quarters.

"Shit... this is going to be harder than I thought."

He grabbed the doorknob, though even more troubling thoughts entered his mind.

'What makes this worth it?'
'How do you know she's not a puppet on a string like you once were?'
'Would she be too far gone to save?'
'Are you being an idiot by not just running away?'

'No. No. You're not an idiot. Yö's aren't idiots. Look at your mother. She was a scientist. Though look at what you're doing now. You can run now. You can try to live a normal life. You might not be able to go back.'

'No. You can't run. Not yet. You owe it to Selene to get her out of here. You can't just leave her behind.'

'She'll be deadweight.'

'What would Mom say about that? Would she call our sister deadweight?'

'I think if she could handle caring for twin siblings she wouldn't call her deadweight. How can a 12 year old care for someone half his age?'

'I can find a way. We can find a way with the others.'

He slowly opened the door, making sure it wouldn't creak and wake up Lusamine. He couldn't make out much in the dark, but there wasn't a door at the edge of the room but... some kind of plate? It looked like it would have been in some kind of closet, but there weren't any doors on it.

He slowly approached it, and placed a hand over it, which made it light up. He took his hand away quickly as to not wake Lusamine. He then place a foot on the platform which made it light up even more. But after taking his foot away, he realized just what this was. Some kind of... teleporter? He remembered seeing something on the news about a new prototype made by Silph-Co.

Well, if it is a teleporter, minus well give it a shot, no?

He stepped on it completely, and a white light consumed him, and when it faded, he was in a completely different room. The lights were actually on, and he seemed to be on some kind of platform in the middle of water. Blue cubes dotted the platform, and a computer could be seen on the other side.

Upon closer inspections, it turns out that these blue cubes were made of... ice. Yet what was inside was even more bone-chilling. Inside the one Elio had investigated, was a Meowth. An Alolan Meowth Specifically, frozen in time, with the same expression on its face as it had when it was frozen: one of fear.

"Oh my God... they're actually freezing them."

He continued on, seeing more and more Pokémon in more blocks of Ice. A Driftloon, a Starmie, a pyukumuku, a Pikachu, a Slowpoke, a "complete" Silvally, and so many more. But the largest one was at the end, and it contained the most tragic of all these frozen creatures.

The frozen Selene, having been put through the same procedures as Elio, with a face of terror plastered on her face. One eye was milky white, while the other was the same venomous green as Elios.

"Oh my God... Selene!!"

He ran to the cube, horrified by what she was contained in and what was done to her. He had been trying to smash the ice to break her out, yet that was taking its toll on his fists. Steam could be seen coming from his knuckles, when he looked to the computer. Could he deactivate whatever is working these things and melt the ice?

He was about to see if he could do so, when he felt a cold hand on his shoulder, and realized who it was immediately.

"What're you doing in here so late... sweetie?"

He was about to see if he could do so, when he felt a cold hand on his shoulder, and realized who it was immediately.

"What're you doing in here so late... sweetie?"

He turned around to see Lusamine directly behind him. Her hair was unlike how she had usually styled it, another bad case of bedhead. It wasn't styled straight, but almost seemed as if was curly. She had that look in her eyes that Elio was familiar with at this point, one of glowing, radioactive fire. One that Gladion and Lillie would have been familiar with, but unlike Elio, they'd actually know what it meant, and would have ran out of the room by now.

"Mother... I..." He was trying his best to mimic the accent he had before his memories came back to him.

"What're you doing in here? I thought you were asleep?"

She looked to the frozen Selene, and the fire of want was replaced by horror. Did he know who this girl was? What would he say?

"Who... why is that girl frozen?" His voice was shaking from fear a bit.

"She..." Lusamine had to come up with something quick.

"She's your sister... she was fatally sick. We had to freeze her to keep her alive. We... are currently researching a way to fix her condition."

"But... didn't you say my sister was older?" Elio could see through her ruse with ease, as he knew exactly who this girl was. Though Lusamine technically spoke the "truth" when saying Selene was his sister.

"How old is my sister really? I mean, you sai-" he stopped. He slipped up with the accent, and began to tremble.

"Elio? Are you feeling alright?" An artificial warmth could be heard in her voice.

'Did he just speak how he used to?'

"Yeah! Yeah! I-I'm alright!"

"You certainly don't sound alright. Speak how you did moments earlier."

"What?"

"You heard me. Speak how you did moments earlier, it wasn't your usual pattern of speech."

"I-I don't know what you're talking about." He had slipped up again.

Lusamine sighed.

"I should have known Faba would have messed up... you're ugly again."

She grabbed his arm, and kept a tight grip while he was squirming to get free.

"Get off of me!!" He yelled.

"I'm afraid I can't do that. You see, you can't be perfect if you remember who you really are. If you have your memories... You'll be just like those who came before. Their minds made them... ugly. That is what you are..."

She brought her face directly across from his. "And we can't have that? Can we?"

Elio didn't answer, being too scared to say anything.

"I see... well, I feel like this might be the best place to get started. I only need to say one thing... gamma-7-1-epsilon."

Elio slumped over, with his neck and arms going limp, and Lusamine let go. His mind was cloudy, and he was having trouble even thinking.

"My my... I didn't expect that to actually work on you."

He tried to speak, but all that could come out was an unintelligible mumble.

"I need to give Faba credit where it is due. He may have screwed up in keeping your memories under wraps, but his programming... you still can't resist it, can you?"

Another mumble came out, but something could actually be made out in it. "Hate."

"Oh? You hate me? Or do you hate how we programmed your brain? Reprogramming your mind was essential for making you perfect like me. After all, you look just like me now. Your mind needs to be as perfect as your body..."

She cupped his chin, and raised his face towards hers, forcing eye contact.

"I know you want to leave. You can't leave... not after everything we've done for you, what I've done for you. Besides, you don't even have a home to go back to..."

'Home is... gone?'

"Don't you see? Your 'friends' and brother didn't come to rescue you. Do you really think if they cared for you, they would come rescue you?"
Elio was silent this time.

"I need you... you need me. I'm all that you have. I'm the only one you have left that cares for you..."

'No... You're lying.'

"You can be part of a real family again... I'm willing to do what needs to be done to make that happen. No need to be adopted like with... the Kahuna you were living with. You wear the mark my family wears. Everyone who comes across you will believe we are of the same blood. Why would you reject that?"

Another unintelligible mumble was the response, though more words could be made out. Perhaps Elio was regaining control?

"Mother knows best Elio... have you ever heard that phrase before? Perhaps Akari told you that phrase before. Well... that phrase still stands with me. We need eachother... you complete me, no, we complete eachother... and I think I should show you how."

Their faces were even closer together now, and Elio was trying to back away, yet he could barely even move his legs. One arm went under his hoodie and shirt as she got closer, and on the inside, Elio was panicking. He had remembered the last time she had done this, yet he was unable to do anything. One, he was unable to move, his programming had prohibited him from doing so. Two, he didn't have a weapon such as the mirror shard to stab his tormentor with.

She had leaned even closer, and the two made contact. He could feel her lips against his, and he was trying his hardest to pull away. Her mouth opened, and he could feel her tongue enter his own mouth.

'No. NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO
NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO.'

He could feel it moving around, making his own tongue tingle, all the while he was trying his hardest to move away. In his head, he could only scream from what was happening. She almost seemed desperate somehow, desperate and overwhelming. She didn't seem to care if he was "perfect" or not, and didn't care for what he wanted.

But then, something clicked inside him. Something that hadn't been seen in over a millenia.

"(G̸͇̮͆ͅĚ̴̝̦͘T̸̻͍̅ ̴̟̯͓̒̐͝Ó̷̝͉̐̀F̷͓͊̋F̸̛̘̥̏͜ ̶̧̭͆̓͝M̴̛̜̭̂̉E̵̖͑͗͘!̵͚͠!̶̗̿)"

Lusamine was launched back, into one of the cases containing the frozen specimens. Lusamine had hit her head on the ice, and was in a daze upon impact. Her vision was blurry, and she could see Elio approaching her, but he looked... different. A green glow could be seen from his eyes, and green translucent objects could be seen on his hands. They were almost like... a shield? No. That's not what they were. They were like the shells of the Island Deities in the portraits she had seen of the Alolan Pantheon. What was this? What happened? What had her "little boy" become?

He pulled her up by the shoulders, so she could look into his eyes one last time. She saw something she never thought she would see from him. Anger, no... rage. Behind those glowing eyes, she saw the rage of a malevolent Deity, the rage of a God giving judgement to those that went against it. The preachers of Arceusim back in Kalos always talked about the rage of the father on Judgement day. She was seeing this rage, but from something else.

He had a firm grip on her head, and his voice. His voice was something else. Was this even him?

"I̸̼͝ ̸͚̏m̸̝̈u̵͓̿s̵̥̊t̴̗̚ ̴͉̂g̸͍͠e̴͉̊t̴̮̽ ̷̢̒o̵͕͋u̸̟͠t̶͖̐ ̷̜̏o̵͚̎f̴̣̌ ̵̟̽h̴̬͛e̸̜͑r̴̩̓ȩ̴̛.̵͕́ ̷͉̊Ī̵͜ ̶͓̎m̸͔̄u̶̟̿s̸̛̘t̷̙̔ ̴͓̀g̵̫͊e̷̖͘ẗ̶̯́.̶̹͂ ̵͔̈́F̴̲̀r̴̻̎è̵̪e̷̗̓.̸̂͜ ̷̧̋Ỵ̸̈́o̷̮̓u̴̘͒ ̷͔̐h̷̻͝â̶͉v̴̱͊ẹ̴͘ ̴̘͌b̸̖̎ė̷̫e̶̱͌n̵̜͒ ̵̓͜ḩ̵̏o̷̺͝l̷̤̕d̶̮̿ĭ̶̧n̷̖̾g̴̬͒ ̶̰̽m̵̟͝e̸͙̍ ̶͓̇ḯ̵͓n̷̝̏ ̷̩̒t̴͎̓ḧ̶̜í̷̘ș̶̛.̴̱̈.̸̤̀.̴̧͑ ̴̺͌p̴̥͌r̷̼̎ị̸̈́s̴̝̎ō̷͇n̸̝̑ ̶̰̇f̷̠̈́o̸͙̓ŗ̸͐ ̸̯̒f̵̚͜a̸̳͘ř̷̬ ̶̻̎t̸͉̓o̵͉͋o̴̫̓ ̸̫̀l̴̙̆o̷͈̊n̵͙̈́ġ̸͇!̸̮̋"

The next few moments were a complete blur, for the both of them. Elio heard a scream, then cracking noises, and the sound of a full on pummeling.

The shell and eye glow would then fade moments later, and Elio was completely confused.

"What... what happened?"

He could feel something on his hands, something he at first thought was water. Water from possibly melted ice?

He looked at his hands, and it wasn't water from the ice. Blood. Blood on his palms. Blood from Lusamine. He did this.
"Oh my God..." he was shaking, disturbed by the blood on his hands. "Did... I do this?"

He turned to where Lusamine was. She was a bloody mess. Cuts and bruises all over body, gashes across her scalp and face. A small pool of blood had gathered around her head. The wounds on her body seemed fatal, but Elio wasn't a doctor. He couldn't even tell if she was alive or not.

"Oh my god... oh my God... I did that!"
I killed her. I killed her. I killed her.

He had gotten very nauseous upon realizing what he had done. He thought he was going to be sick, and he actually was. Though he would do it over the edge of the platform. To say he felt bad was a complete understatement. He felt miserable. What Lusamine just did, what HE just did, it was all so much. So much. It was too much for him to handle. Every part of him felt wrong again, yet he wouldn't have any drugs pumped into his system to numb it. He didn't know if that would just make it worse or not, but there was something he did know. He had to run. He had to hide, and even in his disturbed state, he knew where he had to go.

He rushed out of the room, realizing there was nothing he could do for Selene, and ran out of the mansion. He wouldn't stop running, as if he were to slow down, he was sure he would be caught. When he made it to the elevator, he slammed his fist down onto the button to go to the conservation area.

The trip upwards towards the conservation felt as if it was taking forever, and left Elio alone with his thoughts. He felt disgusted for what had happened. Was it his fault? He didn't run before she managed to paralyze him. But what could he even do? He was scared for himself. He was scared of her. He should have let the beast killer out of its pokeball and handle Lusamine. But the thought of Lusamine being ripped to shreds made him nauseous again, but he didn't get sick this time.

When he made it to the conservation area, he would dive off of the bridge almost immediately, tumbling into the underbrush. The grass stained the pitch white hoodie he had been wearing, but that didn't matter to him. None of that mattered now. Sure, Lusamine might have cared about how "perfect" he was, but her opinion didn't matter. For all he knew, Lusamine was dead. All he had to do now, was wait. He remembered the tour of Aether Paradise he had taken months earlier. He could remember Lusamine mentioning tours still going on.

All he had to do, was sneak into a tourist group, and after all his torment... he could finally be free.

God, the thought of being free again had felt like such a distant dream. But now, it was so close... he could almost taste it.

But what exactly could you call "Freedom?"

Being able to do what you want to do in life?

Being able to criticize the leaders of a government?

The ability to be your own individual?

What is Freedom? How do define "freedom?"

You could say, that true freedom is the ability to be your own individual. To have your own thoughts, your own feelings, your own dreams. To be who you are as an individual, and not have your freedom impeded. Impeding this freedom, would be to remove the individual from the person, destroying the individual at their core. They wouldn't be able to do anything more, pursue their goals, dreams, or have their own feelings. The slate would be wiped clean, with someone new taking their place. There is always the possibility that somewhere in the depths of their subconscious, the individual will remain.

The taste of freedom was almost tantalizing for so long, he'd only need to play his cards right. Yet as he waited, he found that no tourists came. The only people in the conservation area were employees of the Foundation performing maintenance. Was that because of what time it was? Last time he checked, it was midnight, or at least around midnight. Should he really wait possibly all day to sneak into a group of tourists?

No.

That would take too long. Besides, staying in one spot would possibly bring great risk. The maintenance employees could possibly spot him, and bring him back to Lusamine. Though if they found out what became of Lusamine, what would become of him? Would they make him the President of the Foundation? Brainwash him to become someone new again? Torture him and throw him back in the hole?

He didn't want to find out, and he had made his decision. He wouldn't wait around for fate to decide what became of him. He didn't need to sneak into a group, he would find a different way out. He made his way back towards the bridge going through the all the artificial environments, making sure not to disturb any of the Pokémon, and jumped the railing. He would get more stains on his clothing as he went through, but does that matter with the stakes at hand? Still didn't matter, things like that.

When he made it to the elevator, he slammed his fist on the button with the boat symbol next to it, The button that would take him down to the docks. As he descended, he could smell something he had missed dearly. The smell of the sea that he had grown accustomed to.

The familiar smell of salt, and seaweed, mixed with Iodine, it gave a comforting feeling. A feeling that brought back good memories, such as Mantine surfing from MeleMele all the way to Akala.

The smell even brought back ancient memories, memories from before Akari had gone missing. Examples being playing with Selene in the shallows on the beach. But he couldn't focus on the past, he had to press on.

When the elevator stopped, he was confused, as it looked as if he was in some kind of storage facility. Large crates and boxes dotted the floor.

"What is all this stuff? Cargo? I guess that'd make the most sense."

He crept through the facility, using the stored cargo as cover from the employees roaming the area. A couple of them had been wearing different jumpsuits compared to all the others. Those outfits had a neon green band on the legs, torso and arms, supposedly to light the individual up in the dark when exposed to light. Some were driving around in forklifts, transporting cargo to and from the ships arriving at Aether Paradise. It almost seemed like it was the most busy sector of the artificial island, which made it all the more risky to be down here. But hey, he managed to sneak through a highly classified sector, even if there wasn't much activity there.

There had been many more cameras than in the docks, which was a plus of being down here. Yet soon enough, he could see it. The docks themselves, with large ships baring the Foundations Trident emblem, with Cargo being loaded onto some, and cargo being offloaded into the facility. One guy was even directing smaller ships where to go. Yet there was one that stood out among the pitch white of the docks as well as the larger ships. A small yacht painted black and white, with the Team Skull emblem plastered on the side.

What on Earth would they be doing here? Delivering more victims for the Foundation to experiment on? He didn't dwell on that for long, as he saw someone step off of the ship, who he would recognize immediately. A man with a gold Skull necklace and watch, as well as the pitch white hair, there was no mistaking it. This was Team Skulls leader, "ya Boi" Guzma. He had a phone out, seemingly attempting to call someone. The call sounded like it had been interrupted, as the phone only beeped.

"Damn it! Why isn't the prez answering??"

"I wouldn't be surprised if she was asleep. Have you any idea of what time it is?" Another voice said, revealed to be Plumeria as she stepped off of the ship.

"No sis, I don't check the time much, even on this old thing."

"Well you should know the time more, it could bring benefits."

"Whatever. Let's just do what we came here to do, and get out of this joint. The Foundation doesn't pay me enough to do their operations."

"Yeah, you're telling me boss, the pay is shit. But hey, at least they stay off our backs when it comes to our operations.''

"True that..." they went towards the direction Elio was in, and for a moment it almost seemed as if they were going to spot him. He was hiding behind a crate, and they had gotten awfully close. Close enough to make him fear for his safety, as he clutched the ball containing the Beast-Killer in his hand. Would they find him? What would they do with him if they did? He was shivering from fear at the thought of what they might do. He didn't even realize that he had been holding his breath until he almost passed out as they left his sight. Noone else came out of the boat, and he couldn't hear any sound coming from inside of it.

Now was his chance.

He ran for the yacht, and jumped aboard, tumbling on the deck. On the inside, he wanted to celebrate, to cheer, but he knew better not to do that. If he did, they would hear him, he would be caught. He traveled into the cabin, searching for a place to hide, and soon enough, he would find it. A small box, perfect to climb into. He opened it up, climbed in, curled into a ball and closed it. Despite everything he had gone through, he couldn't help but crack a smile at the irony of the situation. Those that had brought him to this Hellhole, would be helping him escape, whether they wanted to or not.

He waited for what felt like an hour, his legs and back getting sore from maintaining his position, but soon he could hear Guzma and Plumeria.

"I can't believe it, I just can't believe it. How did this happen? None of those pokémon could have done that, but those wounds... she had wounds only a pokémon could make!!" Plumeria yelled, clearly ranting about Lusamine.

Guzma though, seemed a bit unfazed.

"I find it Ironic. She had the beauty she desired the most in life, stolen away through violence. Just like how the Foundation achieved its behind the scenes goals through violence. Wouldn't you say as well?"

"I'm more concerned about what did that!"

The two went on and on, with Guzma still going on about Irony while Plumeria was concerned about just what could have caused that. Little did they know however, that what, or who caused those wounds was sitting less than 10 feet away from them.

Guzma rested his legs on a table after sitting down, and cracked open a beer.

"Never the less... just get us back to camp sis."

Elio could hear the Yacht start up, and soon enough, the Yacht left Aether Paradise, and was speeding through the Alolan Sea. The faint sounds of Wingull could be heard overhead, and through the tiny cracks in the box, he could see the light of the moon coming through the window. He could hear Guzma and Plumeria casually chatting about... well, casual things. Training pokémon, preferred types of Coffee, Graffiti Art, the likes of that.

Hours felt like days for Elio, as being in that position for so long was almost painful. He could see the cracks of light coming in from the Sun, and soon enough, the Yacht came to a stop. The engine came to a stop, and he could hear Guzma get up. He could be heard stumbling around, clearly intoxicated from his drinks.

"Boss... you need some rest, we really should get back to camp." She wrapped her arm around his shoulder.

"Haaave... I ever told you about my folks sis?"

"Yes, you have many times now..."

"Well... I'll have you knowww...." Guzma trailed on and on, until he could no longer be heard. Elio would wait a few extra minutes to get out of the box to make sure he was in the clear, but soon enough, he got out of it. He jumped off the yacht, onto a beach on the north of MeleMele. He didn't even care if Team Skull had been stationed nearby, as there could be no way they'd know who he was from a distance.

He turned to face the Sun, and spread his arms out to embrace it. He could feel it again, the light, the warmth of the Sun, it felt amazing. As he rejoiced, he let himself fall back into the sand, enjoying its warmth.
he could only smile at the thought of achieving what he wanted for so long. He would even start laughing at the irony of his situation, from how he got here, to what Lusamine wanted for him.

After all that had happened, after all he was forced to endure, he was finally free.

Chapters end.
