The rare pair I meant in my intro post is a pairing between the rivals Hugh and Silver! I've been calling it Vengefulrivalshipping because an RP partner of mine found that name listed in a forum somewhere - but it has no fics on AO3 or FF.net, and next to no artwork besides mine. (I also came up with a shorter ship name which is HyuShiru, taking from their Japanese names/spellings similar to ReGuri.)
I realized their narrative parallels and potential chemistry through RP roughly over 6 years ago and then it was all over for me looool they really inspired me artistically. I want the fic I write of them to be special ;v; but it's still in brainstorming stages.
That's really cool! You're right, I don't think I've seen any stories about Hugh/Silver before, but they definitely have a lot of interesting similarities. I can see how it would be fun to bounce two stubborn and hot-headed characters off each other like that. I see you've posted a story about them, too--definitely going to check it out!
Well, guess I should introduce myself real quick. Hello! I have been interested in Pokémon for probably over 10 years now (probably longer, now that I think about it), and I've always wanted to try my hand at writing a Pokémon fic or two (or fifty, I have a serious writing issue). I grew up with the 3DS entries in the series (Pokemon X, Omega Ruby, Ultra Moon), with Omega Ruby being my absolute favorite. I also have a soft spot for the Mystery Dungeon series, which will most likely be the series I choose for my first fic, whenever I get the motivation to start it (hopefully soon). Finally, my favorite Pokémon: Blaziken!
Welcome to the forums! I see you haven't quite gotten up the motivation to post anything just yet--but I hope you do! Feel free to create a thread to discuss your story ideas you have or any road blocks you've run into in getting your story up and running. One way or another, welcome again, and I hope you enjoy your time on Thousand Roads!
Hi I'm owl....Been writing fanfiction since I was 11 or so. Been playing pokemon since the days of needing a flashlight to play Gameboy in back of a car. (I actually still have my original SP and copy of FireRed somewhere in the house....I need to see if that still works after all these years actually.) might recognize my name from the discord server.
Hello again! I didn't realize your fanfic history went back that far--that's really cool! Good luck finding your SP, too; that's a classic. I look forward to hearing more about your fic as time goes on.
Welcome to the forum side of things!
Finally made an account after a few months of lurking!
Some of you might know me, but most probably don't. I used to be in the Pokemon fanfiction scene years ago, but took a long break about seven years ago. (Also took a break from Pokemon completely then.) I came back to the fandom, but still didn't read fanfiction because I had other things going on.
Recently, though, I've been trying to cut back my time scrolling on pointless social media. I still would like to have things to read on my phone, so I figured why not return to fanfiction? Imagine my surprise as to how the culture of it has changed. And imagine how grateful I am to have found this forum by checking out old haunts. So so glad to found a place where reviewing, especially constructively, is welcomed!
I'm a little different compared to most here in that I don't really have fanfiction to post here. I do dabble in writing it, even having a project for another fandom that I've been working on for years. But my main contribution to the fanfiction community has always been reviewing. I'll read just about everything for the Pokemon fandom, though I love trainer fics. I can follow early anime fics (I've seen up to the middle of Hoenn, but I'm watching through the entire series now from the start), and game fics (played mainline up to US/UM, but have plans to play the games that came out after). I'll read PMD fics as well. Feel free to send any requests!
As for other information: My favorite Pokemon is Meowth, but my "signature" Pokemon online is Pikachu. My favorite game is FireRed. For simplicity's sake, you can all call me "Hunter" or "Asty" if my username is difficult to remember!
Hey, Astinus! Long time, no see. I'm glad you're still knocking around and decided to check this place out. As far as fics to read go, we certainly have plenty to choose from... I don't remember what all you may have read back in the day, but Dragonfree finished
The Quest for the Legends, and Sike finished her pHverse series with
The Worldslayers, so if you're in the mood for something nostalgic (and finished), either of those might be fun for you! For some ongoing stories, you might enjoy
Legendary Adventures if you'd like a classic journeyfic with a tone similar to the anime, or if you're looking for something quite different,
What the Gods Gave Me is a story about what happens when mortal humans, pokémon, and animals become legendary pokémon unexpectedly.
It might be a good idea to set up a thread in Fic Discussion so that people can request a read--I don't know how many people will see your post here in the Intro Thread.
Welcome to Thousand Roads! I hope you enjoy your stay.
