Cynthian's eyes lit up. "If you're interested, I could teach you a thing or two. You just have to memorize all the flowers, their shapes, growing seasons, when they bloom, how much sunlight they should have, what kind of water you should use for them, whether they're monocots or dicots, or if they're annual, biannual or perennial—"

"Ah, I got a little excited there, sorry about that," Cynthian said with a nervous chuckle.

 

[RJR Basimilus]

"That sounds great!" Seyka smiled. "It's a lot, but I have more than enough time to learn, I'll live forever after all."

"Well, I don't know if that's true, but it's fun to say," the Skarmory added sheepishly.

"But what if we have different flowers in our own worlds," Seyka wondered. "Are there more general rules for plants?"

 

[Adamhuarts]

"Different flowers on different worlds?" Cynthian's eyes sparkled. "Oooooh, now I want to go to your world and see them."

"Maybe I could bargain with Diyem to send me to your world so I can study all the greenery and flowers there," Cynthian joked, followed by a light chuckle.

"Flowers can have different meanings, you know. Mons back home had a meaning for every color of rose." Cynthian waved her flowers and explained further, "Like in my world's Eastern half of the Grass Continent for instance, white roses symbolized the end of winter and beginning of spring. Meanwhile, black flowers symbolize autumn and mourning for deceased ones."

Cynthian giggled. "Going by that, you could say I'm the beginning and the end in one bouquet."

 

[RJR Basimilus]

"Hmm, that makes sense." Seyka faltered slightly. "I don't think you'd want to come to my world though. It's pretty uninteresting."

"If you're both parts in one, does that make you the best of both?" Seyka paused. "I wouldn't know what that means actually."

 

[Adamhuarts]

"I'd be happy to be the best of anything really, but..." Cynthian trailed off briefly, then she glanced back at him. "What makes you think your world is uninteresting?"

 

[RJR Basimilus]

"It is only my opinion, but I'd like to think I've lived long enough to give it some meaning beyond that," Seyka said.

"Your experiences suggest otherwise," Inno interjected.

"Ugh, you're right," Seyka said, his head drooping. "I've hardly left home, so it's unfair for me to say anything about the world at large. What I can personally say? The small corner of the world I live in is nothing to write home about. Nothing, nothing, nothing."

 

[Adamhuarts]

"Are you comfortable with telling me about the place you lived in? It's okay if you'd rather not say," Cynthian said, recalling Soda's reaction when her curiosity got too annoying last time.

 

[RJR Basimilus]

"Well, to start, I live in a place called the Blue forest." Seyka shook his head. "Pretty awful name right? Whoever came up with it had a bad sense of humor though, because everything is pink. I mean, not the tree trunks, just the leaves, but you know what I mean. The grass, the flowers, everything."

The Skarmory leaned in. "Some pokemon say the color is because of all the blood that's been soaked up by the soil." He smiled. "It's a funny theory. But yes, I've lived there all my life, and I guess I'll continue to live there until the world explodes or something."

"Maybe it would be fun to travel though..."

 

[Adamhuarts]

"A forest of pink trees... For someone like me that hasn't been there, it does sound like a delightful place to visit for the sights alone."

Cynthian returned his smile and said, "I think traveling is good if it's a thing you can afford. I've traveled on a few expeditions before. Don't be shocked, but they all had to do with plants too! It's weird... My life revolves around greenery."

 

[RJR Basimilus]

"It's okay if plants are your way of life," Seyka said. "You are a plant yourself, more or less."

The Skarmory looked into the distance. "I don't think it's a bad thing to stake your life on something."

"You said expeditions though?" Seyka was curious. "I've told you about where I come from, so what's yours like?"

 

[Adamhuarts]

"Hmmm, my world was very much like Cibus. We had the same continents, the same major organizations, we even had our own fair share of world ending catastrophes... I'd say the biggest difference between my world and here is the mons living in it," Cynthian said while idly swinging her legs.

"Currently my world is undergoing a period of recovery. A lot of pokemon lives were affected by the actions of my world's dark matter. Though like Cibus, things haven't been as bad as they would've been thanks to the activities of the legendary pokemon. However, they're still pretty elusive and keep their distance from us." Cynthian frowned. "I'm surprised the ones here are so casual and... normal."

 

[RJR Basimilus]

"This dark matter stuff is all very confusing. Nothing like that ever happened in my world," Seyka said. "And these 'legendary pokemon' too. I've never heard of anyone being described as that. It's funny though," Seyka continued, "One of the legendary pokemon here looks just like my father. They even have the same name too, Ho-oh. But the one here is just different."

The Skarmory shrugged. "Maybe different worlds just mix it up. Does your world have the same 'legendary pokemon' so to speak? Wuh, that's a mouthful."

 

[Adamhuarts]

"I think so. I've never met any of them in person, but it's rumored that one called Mew lives in our forest. Some swear they've met them, but I don't know." Cynthian sighed.

"I guess I was too occupied with other things to care about them much. To me they were just something I knew existed, but that's about it."

 

[RJR Basimilus]

"I guess there aren't any in my world then. Otherwise, I'd think I would have at least heard of one over five hundred something years."

"Or maybe you've been under a rock for half a millennia," Inno said dryly.

"That too!" Seyka said smiling. "It's not like I know that much either. You're probably more worldly than me, Cynthian."

 

[Adamhuarts]

"Oh, you flatter me too much," Cynthian said with a pleased giggle, then she gasped.

"Wait, did you actually live for half a millenia or are you being hyperbolic?"

 

[RJR Basimilus]

"I'm pretty young, you know?" Seyka said. "But now that you mention it, I was turning 573 back home soon. Since this is a different body though, I don't think it counts."

"Inno here is older than me though," Seyka said, glancing down at the Archen. "If I remember correctly, he's 578. And um, he's not an Archen, he's an Archeops. But I don't mind that he's so small here! I get to feel like the older one for once."

"Seyka is the youngest of three," Inno commented.

"Sometimes I wonder what it would be like if Inno was my real brother," Seyka said, ignoring the Archen. "Would we be closer?"

Inno stared at Cynthian. "Asking him won't get you anywhere, but keep in mind he's lying to you. He has two brothers, but he'll pretend the other one doesn't exist even if you threaten him."

"But yes, I'm 573," Seyka finished. "I know it's not usual for a Skarmory, but I guess I'm lucky, you know?"

 

[Adamhuarts]

"How long do Skarmory normally live?" Cynthian asked with intrigue.

 

[RJR Basimilus]

"Beats me," Seyka said lightly. "What do you think Inno?"

Inno scowled. "I'd say anywhere from 90 to 120 years. Do I look like someone who would know that?"

"No harm in asking," Seyka replied. "What about you Cynthian. How long do Roselia live for?"

 

[Adamhuarts]

"Roselia? Well Roselia live to be 200 years old, but Roserade can live twice as long as that." Cynthian's eyes fogged as though a realization had just hit her.

"I'm only 20 years old now... I've barely even lived..."

 

[RJR Basimilus]

"Wow! That's a lot of time," Seyka said, smiling. "I don't remember much of what I did when I was 200. Ah, not that there's anything worth remembering."

"I guess you have a lot of time ahead of you," the Skarmory said thoughtfully. "Think of all the flowers you could grow in that time."
