Ivy caught the last stick in her mouth and immediately spat it out with a squeezed expression. "That tasted evil! Evil!!!"

"Where are you hiding! Come out and face Ivy like uh... like uh..." Ivy trailed off, then she harumphed. "Come out and face me!"

 

[Ambyssin]

Black and purple slime twisted and oozed around parts of a building, dangling over Ivy's head. It coalesced until it formed something... truly ghastly.

"Hey, stinky face-" Ivy reached a vine into her gut and pulled out a leftover blast seed from her fun adventure with Puddle "-chew on this!"

She chucked it at the admittedly cool looking... whatever they were. Too bad they were about to evolve just like Puddle now >:3c.

 

[Ambyssin]

The seed hit its mark... but all the ensuing explosion would do is shower Ivy in paint while an Ultra Stone harmlessly bounced away and spawned more slime to congeal into a blackened poipole.

"... bah. Out of the all the things you could do with yourself, you pretend to be an action hero?" He crossed his arms and furrowed his brow. "So boring."

 

[Adamhuarts]

"Aaah! You got Ivy all dirty!" Ivy grumbled. The paint made her all sticky and gross.

"Who are you and where's Ivy's mochi?!" Ivy asked, flaring up. Then she lowered her eyes, perhaps afraid the other familiar wouldn't listen. "Ivy will let you keep half of you give them back. Pretty please?"

 

[Ambyssin]

"It's gone," Esper said in a gravely voice. "Reduced to ashes."

 

[Adamhuarts]

"No! That's impossible! Why would you eat all of Ivy's mochi?!" Ivy asked, stomping her foot with a frown. Her face then sharply turned nonchalant.

"Oh well, Ivy can just get more! Because Ivy is great and mighty!" she said, spinning around to make a circle of paint around her.

"There's always more mochi. If you were hungry, you should have just said so instead of taking Ivy's mochi." Ivy folded her flowers and huffed.

 

[Ambyssin]

"Huh? I didn't eat any of it. I just stuck it together into a big ball."

Esper pointed behind a trash bin to show mochi pieces stuck together in a ball. "Eating things is boring. Art is meant to be admired. Or to liven up a blasé dumpster."

 

[Adamhuarts]

Before the other familiar even finished talking, Ivy beelined towards the big ball of mochi with sparkling eyes.

"Ivy's mochi!" she hoisted up the sticky ball, opened her mouth wide, ate at it all in one. Large. Gulp. She hummed dreamily and smiled.

"That was yummy. Thank you for not eating Ivy's mochi. Maybe you're not so mean after all," Ivy said, standing next to the trash bin with eyes glittering in admiration.

Esper sighed. "You even have the appetite of a shonen protag. That's another boring point. One more and I peace out."

 

[Adamhuarts]

"Shonen? Stop saying many words Ivy doesn't know." Ivy furrowed her brows and placed a flower on her hip while letting the other saw beside her.

"Ivy is still trying to learn all the words." she smiled proudly. "Yesterday, Ivy learned the word rheumatism!" she paused, still smiling. "Ivy does not like that word!"

"I'll say whatever I fucking want, thank you." Esper bowed.

 

[Adamhuarts]

"Okay, that's fine too." Ivy's mouth receded to a slit. What an odd fellow. She wondered what even to say. Oh, right, she hadn't asked their name yet.

"What is your name? Ivy has not met you before."

 

[Ambyssin]

Esper remained silent. He tsked and wagged a nubby hand. "Uh uh. If I'm going to answer any questions, you've gotta stop referring to yourself in the third-person. It's, like, cute for a baby. But not a shade. Haven't you heard enough people speak by now to realize people refer to themselves with 'I?'"

 

[Adamhuarts]

"Eye? Why would Ivy call herself an eyeball?" she asked, tilting her head with a grimace.

 

[Ambyssin]

"It doesn't mean 'eyeball,' ya dingus." Esper bapped her on the forehead. "It's a single letter: I. It's a possessive term. Like the word 'me.'"

 

[Adamhuarts]

"Possessive?" Ivy asked, rubbing her forehead. "That means.... that means like something that belongs to Ivy, right? So..."

Ivy stared at the familiar, eyes clearly begging for help to know what they were getting at.

 

[Ambyssin]

Shades were supposed to inherit knowledge and memories from their partners, right? Did this one inherit absolutely nothing? Lovely.

"It's like using 'he' for guys and 'she' for girls," Esper said. He pointed at himself. "I stole your mochi." He paused. "Get it?"

 

[Adamhuarts]

"Ivy is a girl, so... Ivy is she?" she said with a blink. "I am Ivy... like that?"

 

[Ambyssin]

"Ding ding ding! Correct." Esper reached behind the trash bin and tossed Ivy another mochi ball.
