I'd like a timeline where Digimon got as popular as Pokemon.
I see a wish that has for too long gone ungranted, so here you go!
Granted! Not only did Digimon get as popular as Pokemon, it has replaced it as the highest grossing media franchise ever. Kids regularly trade digimon cards at school, and you'd be pressed to find a person who hasn't heard of Agumon. Bandai is a household name when it comes to entertainment, and tamagotchis are pretty much everywhere. Digimon games are regularly produced (maybe even a little too regularly) but all begin to follow the same sort of story. On the bright side, the community seems to be larger than ever, even if it becomes saturated with constant game releases.
Because Pokemon never took off, the series was considered to have a niche community, called a knock-off of Digimon. Pokemon games were released much less frequently, and due to a lower amount of revenue, Nintendo wasn't able to branch out into as many franchises as they have in the world we know. Many nintendo franchises, such as Animal Crossing and Splatoon were never created, as Nintendo found very little past success with making games with cartoonish creatures in the past. Pokemon received fewer spinoff titles, and thus we never got games such as Pokemon Ranger or Pokemon Mystery Dungeon.
Anyways, I wish that the AR technology from Yu-Gi-Oh Zexal was real so that I could have more fun dueling my friends.
