The Morning Sun's light was gentle and warm, and it seemed that while it was exhausting, it was also having some effect on Lugia. When it faded, Lugia's eyes opened, slowly, and drifted around. "...What... happened? I flew... I landed... then it all went dark..."

Maple appeared from a portal just off to the side at the cliff's edge, though she didn't appear to be in any danger from falling. Then again, if she fell, it probably wouldn't have hurt her.

"...That is Bahamut. You used to know him as Necrozma, but my Radiance restored his old form, at least when he isn't straining himself in battle," Maple said, but as she spoke, she approached Lugia and knelt down. "Lugia. Why are you here? Where is your master?"

"...Master..." Lugia trailed off, then suddenly jolted onto his feet. "Geh--that's right! Now I--oh, dizzy..." He fell forward, but Maple caught him. "Sorry," he grunted, trying to right himself again.

 

[Ambyssin]

"Master?" Bahamut floated up. "Such charged language. Explain, please."

"H-Hey, just take it easy," Cabot said to Lugia. "What happened to you?"

 

[Adamhuarts]

Wait, that was Necky?! Cynthian had so many questions, but the Lugia had already gotten back up.

"Yeah," Cynthian began with a nod at Cabot then looked at Mini Luigia worriedly. "You seem like you came here on urgent matters, otherwise you wouldn't have gotten here in such an exhausted state."

“Bahamu- So you did have a name after all!”

Oh wait, if Lugia was awake... was he supposed to bow again, but for real this time? Whatever. Even back in his home, Lugia had never been one of the stuffier higher beings. Even if his worlds customs carried over, Lugia was probably one of the ones who didn’t care for that sort of formality. Ho-Oh hadn’t, and they were higher up than Lugia had been.

Well, everyone else had approached casually. He’d do the same.

“Are you feeling okay?”

Lugia took some gentle breaths, then straightened. "I'm... feeling better now. Thanks, uh... Ba... hamut. Sure." Weird name, but whatever. "I had to get away from the Sea of Wonders," he said. "My master and I were attacked by someone, but--but we couldn't really tell who. Or, well, she might have..." He shuddered. "But I ran away. Or, well, she threw me and I flew the rest of the way..."

"You flew all the way from the Sea of Wonders to here?" Maple asked. "That would have taken days."

Lugia smiled nervously.

Maple frowned, but then added, "Some of you seem unfamiliar with what Meringue is talking about," she said, gesturing to Lugia, who was apparently named Meringue. "Lugia's master is the current, actual Lugia. Meringue is the next Lugia, in training."

"Big feathers to fill," Meringue said with a nervous titter.

 

[Ambyssin]

Fascinating. He would've expected a family connection. Or, perhaps, the little one couldn't state as such. Or had a mortal been turned into a lugia? Wouldn't that be the strangest deja vu?

"Well then... it would seem we ought to take the chick to the guild, no?"

 

[Namohysip]

"Ng--excuse me, I'm a lot older than a chick," Lugia said immediately. "Lugia grow slowly. All Legends do. You... what are you? Arceus doesn't usually make new Legends but you have that vibe."

 

[Adamhuarts]

"I'm really sorry to hear about your master," Cynthian said, bringing his flowers over his chin. "I'm glad you were able to get here safely and give us a word. Do come with us so you can rest and tell us everything that happened."

 

[Ambyssin]

You... what are you? Arceus doesn't usually make new Legends but you have that vibe.

"Why don't you ask Miss Maple? She seems quite... well-informed of things." He tapped his beak with a claw. "Before I came to this world, I thought I was a lone creature. But she has informed me that's not the case." Bahamut coiled around the little lugia. "In any case, you're the one who was under siege. So, let's focus on that, shall we?"

“We, ah…” Astrid rubbed the back of her head. “Eheh, we aren’t exactly from these parts.”

“We, ah…” Astrid rubbed the back of her head. “Eheh, we aren’t exactly from these parts.”

"She's right," Cynthian said with a nod. "We're all off worlders, and no two of us are from the same world either."

Cabot looked at Meringue in awe as he fumbled for words. Hearing Celeste talk about another Lugia last week had already felt strange, but actually seeing one was a different story entirely. Even if Meringue was clearly older, he couldn't help but be reminded of Pleo when he looked at him.

"It's... nice to meet you, Meringue..." he finally said.

 

[Namohysip]

Lugia tensed, evading capture from Bahamut. "At least take me to dinner first," he mumbled. Then, nodding at Cabot, he said, "Yeah, good to meet you guys, too. I--where can I go to rest? I'll try to tell you guys everything that I know, even if it's not all that much."

"That would probably be Wigglytuff's Guild," Maple said. "Come. I'll take you there. As of yesterday it's been cleared of our last visitors, but we should probably take a look at you anyway after that much flying while injured."

 

[Ambyssin]

"Then lead the way." Bahamut gestured behind him with a wing.

 

[Persephone]

Cuicatl stumbled out onto the bluff and sat down. She was getting better at using echolocation with her new senses. She'd sort of been able to do it before, but now everything was much better. Even the whole "walking on all fours" thing was getting familiar. With a contented sigh, she lowered herself to the ground and let the sea breeze run over her.

It didn't sound like the others were much closer to finding a cure for the infection. That was fine with her. She wanted to stay here as long as possible.

"If you're looking for the lugia, you're a few hours too late, child."

It didn't matter how bright Bahamut was, because a deino wouldn't be able to tell. Except the radiance he exuded was warm, but dragons hated ice, not warmth. So, it was perfectly fine. He wove through the air about a foot off the ground. Bahamut paused a yard away from Cuicatl.

 

[Persephone]

"Are you..." Cuicatl tilted her head and tried to remember all the people she'd come across and how to identify them. 'The not-dragon? No, too warm..."

 

[Ambyssin]

He could make a joke about how seeing was believing, but it wouldn't fly to a blind dragon. Instead he coiled around Cuicatl, his mismatched eyes looking down at her. "Are you sure about that, child? You might want to revise that guess."

 

[Persephone]

"Hmm. Too tall for Owen. And Diyem would speak into my mind. Because dark-type-bypassing telepathy is bullshit and also I really want it. But you do sound sort of like the... Neck...rezma? Been a while and I was distracted at the time." By having just turned into a dragon(!).
