    Worldbuilding June 2021​
    howdy folks. i regret to inform that it is the first of june and we are thoroughly in the bowels of this strange year in post-apocalypse. around here, june means worldbuilding, of course! if you're not familiar, worldbuilding june is a daily challenge in the month of june wherein participants answer questions about—you guessed it—their world. it's a great chance to flesh out your world a bit, as well as show it off to your fellow community members!

    this year, there's no new prompt list, so i'm providing this one from 2020, but feel free to mix it up however you wish:

    new to this year is the Alt Prompt List, a lower-volume set of prompts for those interested in a quality-over-quantity approach to the event! this list of six prompts, each intended to be carried out over five days, is open-ended enough that you can take each any number of ways. also unlike previous prompt sets, you're encouraged to fill these prompts any way you like: a wiki-style write-up, a short piece of fiction, a visual artwork, or anything else you can conceive of. without further adieu:

    June 3 - June 7: Free space​

    Use this prompt to dive into any particularly interesting aspect of your world you like. You can think of this prompt as a "hook." Maybe you can use this prompt to provide a general overview of your world, create a sketch of the magic system, or describe an inciting event in your world. This is your chance to show off the core of your world!

    June 8 - 12: People​

    Who are the agents writing the history of your world? You can use this prompt to describe a particularly fascinating individual in your world's history, to detail an important civilization or organization in your world, or to outline a specific profession you think would be fun to share.

    June 13-17: Technology​

    How do the people of your world interact with and alter their environment? This is your chance to delve into technology of any time - maybe you'd like to explore the general technology level of your world, a unique weapon or piece of magitech, a mode of communication or transportation... The possibilities are endless!

    June 18-23: Flora & Fauna​

    What else are the people of your world sharing their planet with? Feel free to go into detail on any monster or creature in your world be it feral or tame, a plant of special importance, or a magic mushroom. :devilish:

    June 24-28: Culture​

    With this prompt, you can paint a picture of your world's beating heart. What kinds of clothes are your people wearing? What kind of art are they creating? What are their rituals, their holidays, their beliefs and gods and myths?

    June 29-July 3: Places​

    What is a world but a collection of places? (Rhetorical question.) You can use this prompt to explore a unique landmark of your world, a striking geographical feature, a bustling city, a significant shrine, an ancient battlefield, a mighty stronghold or castle, or a site of magical importance. You can also use this prompt to investigate the architectural styles of your world.
