Heya, beginning my annual tradition post-Blitz of responding to… well, it’s not quite stories that I never plan on bumping again in this case, but it’s off in a hazy and unplanned future that probably won’t be coming around this calendar year given that I have a full deck as it is, so good enough. I opted to go in order of "most recent bump" this year, so that way I could better track which of my stories needed a bit more of a signal boost throughout the year, so that brought me here first.
Anyhow, right on to that response:
@K_S
Hold onto that thought there…
Hrm. I can kinda see the argument here, but I think that I’m going to stick to my guns on this one since the idea I originally had was that not everyone necessarily called that meadow the same thing.
Potentially. But that involves going off into a place that’s not a truly “safe” place in the perceptions of Abri’s residents.
That would be because the part where “border patrol” could be enforced doesn’t encompass the meadow itself.
That’s just another day ending in ‘y’ for the average youth protagonist in a story. Like Team Aspirant there. /s
I mean, it helps that they got booted from their last homes in the forests due east of said meadows.
Well, it’s certainly disorienting, to say the least.
Or you’re just strong enough to not care. That also happens, too.
Not at the moment, no. Otherwise Patron’s threat about leaving the village high and dry would’ve fallen a bit flat if there was a big enough Strategic Rusefox Reserve in Abri that didn’t answer to him.
More like they had Pen signs in their eyes. The ‘mon saw more the equivalent of those snatching scenes from the WotW remake with Tom Cruise in it.
Usually pretty good, since they’re important enough to get paid a share of the takings.
I could see it, honestly.
Well, that would certainly work for the shorter term. If I can ever be bothered to write an extension or two to this story, it’d likely turn out to be a really, really bad idea for reasons that will likely become apparent as you get further on into this story.
I mean, it is his job to call stuff out, so…
Yes, yes, and no in that order. Even if you’re at least directionally correct with “hula hoops”.
Nah. It’s just stuff washed away after heavy rains.
Nah, it’s an ice box. Like the sort one would use to take drinks to a barbecue.
That would be a clever idea, except for…
Well, that.
Something something, Pokémon having trouble wrapping her head around human concepts.
Not by level-up, they can’t. And the two are intended to be fairly weak in the grand scheme of things.
To be fair, if you’ve watched the right anime seasons, you might have encountered Mr. Ice Floe after all.
I mean, I dunno if I’d have characterized Fletchling as a rare Pokémon. Fortunately for the gang, the human’s not that one track minded.
Almost like it’s not a normal PMD setting, hm…?
Tigri: “Also, because we need to stock up food for the winter.”

Which is part of the reason why they were so desperate to go and try and get their stuff.
Well, it’d be a boring story if so. But I’ll let you get in some more commentary about that when you get there.
Oh no, there’s definitely much worse things that could happen than Patron getting burned…
Once again, hold onto that thought there…
And thanks for the review! I don’t know if/when you’ll come around for more of this story, but it was a lot of fun to take in your commentary here. ^^
For all you folks who give this story a shot during the year, I'll be seeing you around again in December for my other customary review roundup. Until then, I hope that you have fun with this story.

I wonder how tjose who make the illusions see the illusions. Is it foolproof, or is it like a skien of unreality they can taste and manipulate?
Hold onto that thought there…
Why not "its name" since a clutch of villagers are trecking towards it would probably only note if the name was a weird conciet of the Zor' of the forwst or one of lifes mysteries…
Hrm. I can kinda see the argument here, but I think that I’m going to stick to my guns on this one since the idea I originally had was that not everyone necessarily called that meadow the same thing.
Interesting the near mythology the place has garnered.
Wonder if crops planted thier would last as long and produce more food for it?
Potentially. But that involves going off into a place that’s not a truly “safe” place in the perceptions of Abri’s residents.
I wonder what risk changlings would present? Iff ilkusionist were such a worry why not do somethibg like this?

Galar Border Patrol
We’ll see how accurate this comic is once the full dex is revealed.www.woodenplankstudios.com
That would be because the part where “border patrol” could be enforced doesn’t encompass the meadow itself.
In this case with a human sited I vote that its better to be far far away... and this whole "job" reeks of a bad life choicd.
Alright gotta admit... I wasnt expecting the murder illusion foxes to make flower land thier front door/welcome mat. I mean it makes sense since its home to illusi9nists... but still it is kinda funny for a grim dark tribe to be camped overlooking something out of yoshis island…
I mean, it helps that they got booted from their last homes in the forests due east of said meadows.
Sounds like sensory torment.
Well, it’s certainly disorienting, to say the least.
I mean sandwiched between Pat' and Abri you woukd think they'd be hyper respectful.
Or you’re just strong enough to not care. That also happens, too.
Wonder if a number of those rescuers are ex-members of Pat's packs who "went soft" and shuffled into town to have an easy job…
Not at the moment, no. Otherwise Patron’s threat about leaving the village high and dry would’ve fallen a bit flat if there was a big enough Strategic Rusefox Reserve in Abri that didn’t answer to him.
I imagine the humans saw a fun varried raid battle...and the mon saw a massacure on par to war of the worlds…
More like they had Pen signs in their eyes. The ‘mon saw more the equivalent of those snatching scenes from the WotW remake with Tom Cruise in it.
It seems smart. Though I wonder how the flyer feels about it.
Usually pretty good, since they’re important enough to get paid a share of the takings.
In winter i imagine it'd make quite a sleding spot…
I could see it, honestly.
Not that Pat wouldnt be above taking advantage of that reputation to move in and inhance the creepy feels so he cpuld have a den away from his den pre set up.
Well, that would certainly work for the shorter term. If I can ever be bothered to write an extension or two to this story, it’d likely turn out to be a really, really bad idea for reasons that will likely become apparent as you get further on into this story.
Mature, blame the bird, i see how it is....
I mean, it is his job to call stuff out, so…
Hmm i'm guessing, styrophom ice box, traffic cone, and hulahoops?
Yes, yes, and no in that order. Even if you’re at least directionally correct with “hula hoops”.
Or there was a crash or naturak disaster at a close by human setlement.
Nah. It’s just stuff washed away after heavy rains.
Maybe its a fridge?
Nah, it’s an ice box. Like the sort one would use to take drinks to a barbecue.
I mean they could roll it alongside the sled? It is a hoop and all.
That would be a clever idea, except for…
Hello worst-case scenario, please cue two psychic traumas pronto…
Well, that.
What the heck is regice doing out here?
Considering Tigri's (my brain keeps wanting to turn it into Tigger) history, I am a little surprised she isnt aware of what clothes are.
Something something, Pokémon having trouble wrapping her head around human concepts.
The hunan is right on top of poor Tig' hopefully they're a bad tracker? Or this could be an illusion... wait Tig's a psychic! Can she teleport? How about her brother?
Not by level-up, they can’t. And the two are intended to be fairly weak in the grand scheme of things.
Cue tig maddly shaking her head and miming "no, nope" and hoping this trained ice turtle has some mercy (as I haven't played x/y i havent encountered mr. Ice flow)
To be fair, if you’ve watched the right anime seasons, you might have encountered Mr. Ice Floe after all.
Hopefully the trainer has a one track mind but I can see this still going stupid bad since the whole cast are rare'mon.
I mean, I dunno if I’d have characterized Fletchling as a rare Pokémon. Fortunately for the gang, the human’s not that one track minded.
Aka they are in a rock and a cheese grater. Fun times. Also a little surprising considering how socialist the pmd settings tend to be..
Almost like it’s not a normal PMD setting, hm…?
My kneejerk reaction is "why" the other is worry because salvaging isn't something ferals do. And if the human saw mon tracks, they might have put two and two together and realized these mon are cat warrioring it up out here.
Tigri: “Also, because we need to stock up food for the winter.”
Do they have another sled at home to pick this up again later? This might be a bigger problem than no supplies for dinner if not…
Which is part of the reason why they were so desperate to go and try and get their stuff.
Methinks the cast's first, last, and middle names are going to be "Careful Mccarefullson, Cautious, the third"...
Well, it’d be a boring story if so. But I’ll let you get in some more commentary about that when you get there.
I mean, if they wanted life to get worse, mission accomplished? Especially if Pat' gets burn damage…
Oh no, there’s definitely much worse things that could happen than Patron getting burned…
While I get Pat' really went over the top in picking the fight, he's got different social structure and as a fereal/pack leader is expected to be hyper aggressive to keep his leadership. The villager's really should have known this and backed down. He actually was pretty merciful in giving them an out almost off the cuff, if they'd warned him that there was a human and they were fleeing it they both would of been better off... but due to the cast's miscommunication and pride I really don't see this going well for anyone.
Because in the end Pat' has the trump card, and with what Stig, Rouge, and Tig' know... Pat's threat is very much not hollow. I can't see the village elders taking this well at all.
Once again, hold onto that thought there…
Well that was an adventure. As always, thanks for sharing. And I have a dragon tale to wrangle to completion.
Happy Blitz/catnip Spite!
