"What are you doing?!" Cynthian whispered anxiously. "We were told to be careful!"

"No no, I wanna see what happens."

"Do you not know what being careful means?" Zane spat, not taking his eyes off the decidueye. "Why are you here?" he asked again.

Cynthian stretched out his flowers and smiled. "At least neither of us got turned into something else. I'm most glad I didn't go back to being a budew. I do not wish to relive those... Helpless days," he finished with a somber look.

"Indeed." Nip glanced back over at the pokemon that claimed to once be human. None of them had been unfortunate to turn into anything helpless... but from what he could gather no one was exactly fighting-fit either. He could only hope that the power of... he'd lost count of how many pokemon there were now... well, however many there were here would be enough to take down a giant magikarp. Then again...

He opened his mouth to say something more, but paused when he heard Diyem's voice echo in his head. The fur on the back of his neck stiffened, and he couldn't help but glance around nervously. Though there were several buildings around them, none were close by enough for him to take cover in. Out in this open space, he felt exposed. Helpless. And his newfound weakness didn't help with that.

Then the decidueye appeared. Fighting down the instincts to hide from the significantly larger predator (at least he thought decidueye were predators) he chose to stand still and just tilted his head. He thought the town had been evacuated?

His eyes widened as he watched the zangoose saunter up towards the decidueye and began interrogating him. He was attempted to do the same, to at least pretend he was stronger than he was right now. But no, he wouldn't be able to land a claw on the ghost type, would he?

Besides, if the reactions of the others were anything to go by, the zangoose was doing something very, very stupid. And he would like to keep a reputation of being. Not that.

Decidueye was flying toward them at alarming speed, yet his body language suggested it was a leisurely jog to him. He stopped and landed, simultaneously bowing with grace. “Well met, all of you," he said, somehow even to Zane. Though, he seemed to ignore what he had actually requested during his intense interrogation. "You may call me The Great Radiant Decidueye, Truffle. Are you with the scout that had been sent here? I'm afraid he is still recovering, but..." He lowered his body slightly, but the rest of his explanation would not be necessary.

Rounding the corner next was a wobbly-looking Charmander who was clutching a blanket that had a slight glow to it. "Hello?" Charmander said. "Is... is that voice gone?" He turned and spotted the group; suddenly alarmed, his weak-looking tail flame doubled in size. He tried to run, but ended up tripping over the blanket, tumbling into a wrapped heap.

Somehow, Curio wanted to hug Owen. Badly.

"Are you ok?" Litwick asked, stifling a giggle.

 

[Adamhuarts]

"A scout? I'm afraid I don't know who the charmander is, though—" Curio seemed to know who they were. Cynthian could tell that much from their expression.

"Nice to meet you Truffle, my name's Cabot," the Cranidos said, before turning towards alarmed looking Charmander on the ground. "Owen...? Is that you?"

 

[Equitial]

"Owen!" Ashwood said. They looked at Truffle. "How did you save him? Is he okay?"

 

[Tanuki]

Zane reached for his trusty bag that wasn't at his side. Wrong body. No oran to toss Owen's way. Begrudgingly, he sent a warning glare to Truffle and started walking toward the charmander. "Hey, you all right, buddy?"

 

[Dragonfree]

The experience of craning his neck upward to look at someone who was talking was new, and Dave definitely could have done without it. "I guess that's the Charmander we're here for? Owen?"

 

[The Walrein]

Jaro hesitated. That green and brown feathered wind-blooded Pokemon was certainly intimidating, and he didn't want to make himself a target by drawing attention to himself, but... hadn't he came to this place to be a hero? Swallowing his doubts, Jaro approached the front of the group and addressed Truffle.

"Uh, we were sent here by a 'Charizard' called Diyem," he called out, speaking in a loud voice. "We were under the impression that we'd have to fight off a large Magikarp to rescue that Charmander there - did you already beat it?"

 

[Adamhuarts]

"Oh right, we were sent to find a charmander. Yeah, he's with us, Mr Truffle," Cynthian said, giving the decidueye a polite bow.

Astrid had hung back throughout the chaos. There were so many Pokémon talking; so much to process that she’d grown absolutely dizzy.

And now, finally… this was their scout? Test dummy sounded more appropriate. If he was currently losing a battle with a tarp, it was asinine that he had been thrown at that Magikarp and expected to succeed—alone, no less.

“Hi!” Astrid greeted anyway, though he obviously couldn’t look at her right now.

"Are you ok?"

Don’t say buster Wolf Fay thought of the stocks he lost to the move.

“Owen!” waved to the Charmander. “I remember you from truth or dare.” Fay walks closer to Owen. “But I thought you where a Charizard?”

 

[Namohysip]

Sensing that they wanted to see him, Truffle gave a firm nod and spun around. "Please, excuse me."

He outstretched his wings and flew toward Charmander, who now looked even more alarmed than before. He rolled out of his sky-blue blanket and sprinted for the entrance to the dojo, past Zane, and then--into the talons of Truffle, who gently plucked him off the ground like his next catch.

Charmander screamed something feral and flailed, but to no effect, but then calmed down when he realized the talons were not piercing through his relatively soft scales. "You could've helped me along like a normal person..."

Truffle landed with Owen, setting him down with one foot. Charmander held his blanket tighter, staring at the ground. "Didn't have to monhandle me, either..."

When he finally heard what the others were saying, though, he perked up. "O-Owen? Is that my name? The voice called me Owen, too, but..."

...Oh, wonderful, Diyem's voice called. Not only has he blocked me out from terror, he also somehow has amnesia.

"We found him while scouting the Magikarp crisis," Truffle explained. "He was buried in the dirt, but I spotted his flame with ease! Well, another of my team had found him first, actually. But unfortunately, he was only able to get a few words from him before he passed out... And now, well. He hardly remembers anything." Truffle nodded gravely. "I do hope his memories will return. I gave him one of my Legendary Soothing Blankets of Light to assist him for now."

"It's really warm," Owen murmured, holding it closer.

"Do you and all your things have at least three adjectives or..?"

 

[Namohysip]

"No! For example, my Blinding Shield only has one!"

"Were you able to learn anything about where the Magikarp came from? I think that was one of the things we were supposed to do," Jaro asked.
