Cynthian rested his flowers on his hips and nodded. "I'll get some by the woodlands after supper."

"But is Magikarp asleep underwater or on land?" Necrozma wondered. "If it's wheezing in that gigantic state... it might blow things over. Trees, rocks, homes for feral pokémon... you get the idea." He flicked his right hand.

"Er... I don't think it would do that much damage while asleep?" Cabot said. "Though it's not like it's causing any more damage right now."

 

[Ambyssin]

"The ground trembled while it was flopping around." Necrozma crossed his arms. "I daresay its breath would be strong enough to cause damage."

"Yeah, but enough to blow over trees? And that still doesn't change that it's doing less damage now than when it was when it was awake."

 

[Ambyssin]

"Well, trees are plants and plants are living creatures." Necrozma tapped his claws together. "If there's extensive damage to the forest, it could be detrimental for grass pokémon. This is the Grass Continent, no?" He tilted himself to the right. "Would one not expect a large contingent of grass-types to live here?" Sighing, Necrozma shrugged. "Not that I suppose it matters much. If this decidueye with the strong aura is telling us not to go, we shouldn't go."

 

[Adamhuarts]

"I mean, if it's asleep then we don't have to wake it up. B-besides, don't underestimate grass type pokemon. I'm sure the forest dwellers will be fine. Don't worry about it." Cynthian folded his flowers and laughed nervously.

He wasn't really looking forward to their upcoming giant magikarp battle. From the slight trembling of his shoulder leaves, one could tell he was a bit scared.

"So, they have food for us? That's great, I've been hungry." To punctuate his words, Nip's stomach let out a rumble. Then he paused. "Wait, don't tell me. I know how you village mon work. It's all berries. If I want something I need to come up with some 'money' and find an open 'shop' that sells meat. Lovely."

Ashwood looked off toward the direction where the Magikarp slept, where tremors no longer emanated. They tapped a clay finger to the bottom edge of their headpiece.

"Even if we can't attack the Magikarp right now, can't we do something. I dunno, get a closer look or something? ...I may just be saying this because I want to do something. I'm actually not feeling tired at all. Do Golett sleep?"

They noticed Cynthian shaking. "Aw, I don't think you have to worry, buddy." They clapped a clay hand on his shoulder. "All my senses are telling me we're going to come out of this thing justtttt fine. Besides, you're a Grass-type! And I'm weak to Water, but technically if that thing splashes on me like it did Owen I should just phase right through it."

 

[Equitial]

Cynthian flinched from the touch, though he calmed when he saw Ashwood there.

"Well we do have the advantage in numbers, but I can't help but feel a bit nervous. This is my first time doing anything like this." Cynthian rubbed the back of his neck and took a deep breath.

Then he started wondering what it'd actually be like if Ashwood just phased through the magikarp. "Wait, if you can just phase through it, wouldn't you be able to hurt it from within? You could just take an iron thorn with you and go stabby stabby," Cynthian said, thrusting his cream flower forward to demonstrate.

"Huh." Ashwood paused to think about that. "That's surprisingly metal of you, suggesting I inflict internal damage like that. Kinda cool, though. Wait... is that Magikarp intelligent like all of us? I wouldn't want to actually hurt it if it's just going crazy because it got dynamaxxed. I also haven't actually been able to make myself go incorporeal yet. Eh. I'll sure it'll come if it gets down to it.

"And hey, it's my first time doing something like this too. Where I'm from, giant fish popping out of nowhere aren't exactly common. But I believe in all of us. We can do it!" They pumped their fist in the air.

Ashwood's optimism quickly rubbed off on Cynthian, and he found himself smiling in response.

"Thank you, Ashwood. I'll be counting on you and the others, so let's do our best!" If Cynthian had thumbs, he'd have given them a thumbs up.

"If we're going to stop it, we're going to have it make it faint. And the only way to do that is to damage it with attacks." Necrozma looked at his right palm. "That transformation cannot be undone unless the pokémon faints. And I highly doubt you can reason with it in its current state." He paused. "You're welcome to try, of course. But as someone who's now weak to water, you have considerably more to lose if you fail than your new, flowery friend." He gestured to Cynthian.

Ashwood's eyelights glinted. "Now that would be a great idea. Maybe if we figure out how that Magikarp dynamaxed, we'll be able to get giant too."

Cynthian glanced at the three with a tilted head. "What's a dynamax? Is it something you eat?"

"More like an asinine idea," Necrozma growled. "If you tried to replicate the state the magikarp is in, you'd lose all sense of reason and sanity and we'd be forced to take you out, too."
