Chapter 19: You are challenged by Saliat (Security Corps Leader)

In a far corner of the battlefield where the war was happening, Lang and Pent were facing the Security Corps leader, Saliat, and his subordinates.
"That annoying guy and his stupid tricks with the wild Pokémon are finished... you are done for!" Saliat snarled as his Onix, Steelix and Gyarados growled aggressively. At those words, though, Lang remembered something.

"Yeah... that guy seems to have a weird power... just like you." the old man said, making Saliat looking confused at him. "You were the one bombarding us with those Geodude before... they can't be all yours... or maybe yes and you have prepared them before... but in that case they would be still there... I know there were more since I saw some of them running away before I came here." he explained while Saliat grinned.

"You old man live in our village and you are not even realize how great the Galaxy Team is." Saliat said, his grip strong on his Gyarados' crest. "The Survey Corps gathered informations on all the Pokémon of the region! First of all, since he is their evolution, my Golem can give them an idea of leadership, so they are alike to follow him before realizing he is not with them. But most important: the body of my Pokémon were sprinkled with Crunchy Salt; Geodude's favorite food. Like that there were even more likely to trust us." he said while Lang gave him a severe gaze. "Then Rhyperior has the capacity of blasting rocks away, Geodude included... with the launch they panic and they are more likely to use Self-destruct since it's a case of emergency." he finished to explain, tapping his temple with a finger.

"It's really sad how Galaxy Team is using such useful information to make a war." commented Pent, busy in fighting the three guards, Lang agreed with him.

"Tsk!" Saliat commented indignantly. "War has always been the better solution for nations to establish which one was the stronger." the leader said while the two old men listened to him in disagree. "The place from I come from was always in a war with another region. My father was a soldier, and he never came back home... he fought for his homeland, like a hero. I wanted to follow his path... but my stupid mother made me move away from home... to 'save me for this tragedy' she said... I didn't have any choice. But luckily for me, here, Meguro could see my skills in the combat and its strategy. He choose me as the leader of the Security Corps for this reason, and I am also the main head of Jubilife's army!" he explained, while his subordinates made a battle cry once again, to confirm his words. Lang, on the other side, exhaled sadly.

"It's such a pity seeing such a skill trainer and person, being deformed and brainwashed by war..." he said, while Saliat, annoyed by his words, ordered to Onix, Steelix and Gyarados to attack him and his Electrode. "Your mother did the right thing to push away from such horror... but it looks like that the seed of the malicious idea of yours was already planted in your mind." he said, while him with his Pokémon avoided Onix's and Steelix's tails, aimed for them.

"Shut up! I can demostrate how much I can do for my homeland here!" Saliat replied while his Gyarados swooped down, biting Electrode hard. "Take this Crunch attack!"

"Um... brother?" Lang said to Pent, which was giving the finishing blow to the last remaining Pokémon of the three Security Corps members.

"Yeah. lil' brother... I am ready!" he said, retreating his Skuntank, for then grabbing another Poké Ball.

"We are sorry, captain Saliat! We lost!" said the three Saliat's subordinates in tears.

"Damn you all..." he muttered, annoyed, while a vein started pulsing on his brown. "Steelix, Iron Head!" Saliat pointed his finger towards Lang, and his Pokémon rushed for the old man, ready to crush him.

"I'm sorry young man, but when we are together, it's very unlikely that someone can win against us." Pent replied, throwing his Poké Ball. A badger-like Pokémon, with the front cream-colored, and the back covered in purplish-blue fur, showed up. Around its neck there were purple spot from where some long flames of the same color started leaping out. "Typhlosion, use Infernal Parade!" The Pokémon blasted out of its neck miryad purple fireballs, which hit Steelix under its jaw, blocking the Pokémon's attack to Lang.

"Damn, you, old man! Learn your place!" Saliat answered, noticing his Steelix was recovering its battle stance. "Hah! You don't even damaged him that much with that move... those flames looks weird, I bet it wasn't even actually a Fire-type move!"

"No, it was not." Pent replied, while Saliat smiled. "But it can burn the target." he added while Steelix started growling in pain as some other flames started covering the hit part of its head. Saliat gritted his teeth, ready to order a counter attack, but the Diamond Clan warden was too fast, despite his age. "And when a target is burn, the attack will do more damage! Again!" Typhlosion perfomed the attack once again, and this time the flames exploded with more power on Steelix. Finally, the iron snake Pokémon fell heavily and loudly to the ground.

"This is the last straw!" Saliat said. "You can't win! You won't ever reach me! Onix, Bulldoze!" Onix rushed towards Typhlosion, for then be ready to hit the ground nearby with his head.

"You won't." Lang commented with low tone, while his Electrode rolled quickly towards Onix, for then taking advantage of a natural ramp in the ground, and it leapt behind Onix's back. "Chloroblast!" in a blink, Electrode released a green blast made of light onto Onix's body. Saliat's Pokémon was slammed to the ground because the strong attack, exhausted, while his trainer snapped open his eyes incredulous.

"Damn youuuuu!!!" he screamed in anger, while his Gyarados pointed its snout in Electrode's direction, ready to attack. "Crunch!" the sea serpent Pokémon bited Electrode with its fang. "There's no way your Pokémon is still up after this!"

"Are you sure?" replied Pent. Saliat looked over, noticing that Gyarados' tail was covered in purple flames. The Security Corps leader immediately realized that Thyphlosion had grazed his Pokémon while he was not watching, and it was enough to burn it. "And when a Pokémon is burned, you know that its attack isn't as effective as before."

"That means Crunch might not..." Saliat thought, but his thoughts were interrupted by Lang's voice.

"Thunder." the old man said dryly. Electrode, in the middle of his enemy's jaws, hardened his expression even more. In an instant, a powerful electric shock began to electroude Gyarados and, by extension, Saliat, who was riding on top of him.

"GUAAAAAH!" exclaimed the Security Corps leader as he felt his body and mind being pinched by electricity. "I'm sorry... Meguro..." he could only think before he and his Pokémon fell unconscious. After the attack, the two fell to the ground, both blacked out. Electrode instead rolled back towards his trainer, battered but still able to fight.

"It's over." Pent said, stroking the head of his Typhlosion, who had put out the flames. Lang waved okay, before approaching the now defeated Saliat.

"Captain Saliat!" esclaimed one of the remained member od the Security Corps. Their faces a mix of concern for their boss and grit to keep fighing, but they hesitated to step foward as they were out of Pokémon, opposing to the two battle masters.

"It's okay." Lang said, while the guards looked at him confused. "We don't have any interest to harm him, or you. We want to stop this madness... the village chief threatened people who had not anything to do with his business... I couln't just watch." he said. His words reached the guard, but the three were still worried for Saliat.

"Now what?" said instead Pent. "Should we go back in the fight?"

Lang negated with his head. "I feel like we should follow Raphael. I don't trust Meguro and whatever he prepared...". The older brother agreed with him and the two called back their Pokémon for then running in the same direction where Raphael went before. And right after that moment, the three Galaxy Team member got close to Saliat, checking his conditions.

Damon's flight was about to be over. Gliscor couldn't keep the weight of his trainer but the two managed to land far from the battlefield at the start of Aspiration Hill, at his far right, in the distance, he noticed a flash of electricity and a Pokémon falling down, but the warden didn't care that much as his goal was another one. "Great... just a little bit more and I should be in Jubilife." he commented while Gliscor started following him. Damon started walking up the hill, but suddenly he found himself bumping into something. "What the-" the boy commented, holding his nose with his hand. There was nothing in front of him, yet he felt the pain of a blow. He stretched out a hand, Gliscor with him moved a pincer forward and the two could see that there was an invisible wall in front of them. "How?" Damon wondered trying to push the invisible wall, but without success. Suddenly, he heard someone giggling, but with a strange laugh. He turned and saw a pink and white Pokémon similar to a mime, who was laughing at him. "If you think you can stop me with a trick like that, you'll have plenty to get your teeth into!" Damon snapped, with a ferocious expression.

"We know that well." said a voice that attracted the attention of the Diamond Clan warden. It was Yland who was approaching Damon from behind.

"I should have thought it was you." Damon told him.

Yland laughed. "Not really. That Pokémon isn't mine. It's Meguro's... I was on the top of the hill and I saw that you were approaching without any problems and I offered to stop you, Meguro had already prepared Mr. Mime to block whoever would pass through here... on the other side is Saliat, so it was either him or me." replied the leader of the Constructions Corps.

"I don't care who I'm facing." Damon said, clenching his fists. "You want to take the power of the great Dialga from our hands... I'll crush you one by one if necessary." he took a Poké Ball from his belt, showing it to the other.

"Very well. If I'm not mistaken, we had a score to settle..." Yland replied, taking a Poké Ball of his own. "But I warn you that we have much more important motivations than yours." The two threw their capsules, and from Yland's came out Froslass, while from Damon's popped out a dark ghostly Pokémon with a single eye in the center of its head and a face drawn with yellow lines on its large abdomen and back. "A Dusknoir... I see your Duscolps evolved... but I trained even more since back then, I wouldn't think I would win if I were you."

"I know I will win even if I have a Dusclops yet." Damon replied aggressively. "Dark Pulse!" he ordered quickly and his Pokémon started accumulating dark energy in its eye, ready to fire it.

"Ice Shard..." Yland replied as Froslass created some sharp pieces of ice from the thin air, for then trhowing them at the opponent with an elegant swing. Dusknoir was hit by the fast frozen shards, losing the focus for its attack. Both Damon and Yland noticed a partner, but none of them said anything.

Damon squinted his eyes studying the battle. "This time we will prevail." he thought snapping his fingers. Dusknoir vanished in thin air, while Yland giggled.

"We are doing this, then? Okay." he said and his Froslass did the same, while the Diamond Clan warden watched in silence. Some moments of silence passed on the battle field before Dusclops reappered slowly in the middle between the two trainers. Froslass did the same, but at Dusknoir's right side, where it couldn't see her.

"Fire Punch!" Damon ordered. With Yland's surprise Dusknoir already had one of its fist covered in fire. The Pokémon turned around, hitting Froslass with a jab right in her face, while some flames settled above her head.

"Bravo! But not enough! Ice Beam!" Yland replied as his Pokémon fired an icy beam which hit the enemy at its abdomen. Dusknoir's body started being covered in a thins layer of ice.

"No, don't tell me..." commented Damon with frustration.

"Enjoy the frostbite!" Yland said with a smile. "And now... Strong Style: Shadow Ball!"

"Shadow Sneak!" just like their last battle, a shadow rised from the ground, hitting Froslass at her stomach but the strong Shadow Ball was launched anyway, and it exploded to contact with Dusknoir. The Pokémon were still standing, panting heavily, Froslass moaned in pain for the fire that was consuming her and the Pokémon fell down. But neither Yland or Damon said anything, as Dusknoir complained in agony for the frostbite, for then collapsing to the ground.

"Mph... A tie... just like back then." Yland said while retreating his own Pokémon. "But this time it will be a real fight." he said grabbing another Poké Ball.

"Excatly." Damon answered as he tried to take another Poké Ball of his, but something was restricting him. "What-" he exclaimed in confusion, for then turning his head to his suspect. Up to its rock, Mr. Mime was using his psychic power to block him. "You are going to use these tricks to beat me? I know-"

"It's not my fault. I already told you it's not a Pokémon of mine." Yland replied, but his tone was not surprised.

"Indeed." replied a voice, which make the two looking for who spoke up. From above, a giant metallic ufo-like Pokémon with three magnets and three eyes, one red in the center of its body, descended slowly. On top of it there was standing Meguro, this time he wore a helmet that looked like an ogre, with Meguro's face visible through the mouth. Damon gritted his teeth and snapped his eyes at the view of Jubilife's chief. "I know you would have loved a fair battle... but we don't have time for this now." he commented with a calm smile on his face.

Damon trembled with anger. "You! You are here? Come here and battle me if you dare!" he yelled in rage. Meguro chuckled while shaking his head.

"I can't let Yland get too tired... So I hope you understand that I can't let you do whatever you want to do." Meguro's gaze turned to Mr. Mime which nodded while generating an invisible force which started crushing Damon. The warden complained in effort and pain as the psychic power was around him, Yland watched the scene with a neutral expression, opposed to Meguro's one which was calm and satisfied. Suddenly, a strong jet of water came to hit squarely Mr. Mime, which lost the focus to grip Damon who could finally take breath.

"Damon!" yelled a voice that everyone understood was Raphael's one. The young man arrived to the three trainers with a run together with his Golduck, his expression full of ire as he saw Meguro, which gave hima a sadic smile. "Meguro! Stop this! Now!" he yelled.

"No! You stop this! You are supposed to be on my side!" Meguro replied, his face muted partially in an expression of annoyance and anger.

"You didn't get the big news then..." Damon intervened laughing while he was taking his breath back. Meguro looked confused at him, for then turning his eyes back to Raphael.

"Now I am the leader of Pearl Clan! And together with my people, we decided that you can't keep doing this anymore!" said Raphael, his authoritative tone was trying to give an order to the village chief. But Meguro chuckled, he tipped with his foot on the top of the metallic Pokémon which started levitating higher in the sky.

"Make me." he simply replied while he was getting away from Damon's and Raphael's watch, his Mr. Mime following him by jumping on invisible platforms it was making on the spot.

"Go after him!" Damon said to Raphael who looked at him shocked. "You don't know how much I would like to beat him up... but I have something to resolve first..." he added as he looked back at Yland who seemed not to care much about what happened. Raphael nodded, and he retreated his Golduck to send out Braviary.

"Can you bring me up the hill?" Raphael asked indicating the spot where Meguro disappeared. Braviary nodded and Raphael ride his Pokèmon's back as Braviary's strong wings started flapping, making the Pokémon and his trainer going upwards.

Damon sighed with frustration as he took his Poké Ball. "Shall we continue then?" he asked while Yland shrugged.

"If you are done playing with others." he replied, ready to send out his Pokémon.

"Gliscor!" Damon sent out his flying scorpion-like Pokémon.

"Go, Garchomp!" on Yland's side, a tall dragon-like Pokémon with shark features appeared menacingly on the field.
