Owen grinned, then glanced to his left with an amused glint in his eyes. "See, was that so hard?" he told... nothing. And the nothing beside him apparently did something that made him giggle, and he stepped toward the portal to Treasure Town. "See you, Cynthian. I need to gather my stuff back at the dojo."

Cynthian watched Icetales leave and then he huffed a relieved sigh. Truly, Icetales deserved better. He gave Owen a quick bow and got up to leave as well.

As Cynthian walked towards the portal, a growing part of his mind kept reminding him of the impermanence of his current friendships. A growing part of him told him not to put too much hope into them, because perhaps he shouldn't be around them because someday they're not going to be there anymore. Perhaps, he'd be cast aside sooner or later...

Cynthian shook his head, though a solemn look crept onto his face. He'd just have to keep holding those thoughts in, else they might consume him. For now, he should just worry about other people's problems than his own.

"You guys're way more resilient than you should be. Couple days' rest and you'll all be better, at worst."
Brisa nodded. "Yeah. Yeah, of course. You're right."

“Treasure Town, then?”
"Sure thing, partner. Let's leave these gals with the guild infirmary, and then find somewhere quiet."

What a battle. What a... whatever that was. Gods, but she had a lot of difficult conversations ahead of her.

R12 - Gratitude

The light of day leaked through the fronds around the mountain as a ninetales made his way up to the base. His head was lowered, his steps unsure, and yet his heart was beating with more strength than ever since he had arrived at this place. Well, that might not have been totally true given what had happened, but it was at least the strongest beat whose origin wasn't fear or adrenaline. Kindle looked forwards, at the entrance of the village, and felt the strange sensation of his heart trying to shrink in fear and swell with joy at the same time, hesitating from one side to another until it finally stayed the same, vibrating in pure, unrestrained anticipation. As he walked closer and closer, the many memories of all the rules he followed back home kept troubling his mind, but he adopted every last one of them nevertheless.

Walk straight, don't feel inferior, but don't look down at them either. He noted as he corrected his posture, straightening his spine in an almost painfully forced way, but keeping his head lowered as to not look as if he was boastful. He found himself moving his shoulder blades with hesitation to get rid of the nonexistent soreness that walking like that had for so long caused him, but this body didn't seem to share that problem. For now at least, a few more visits this place and his back would be killing him as much as always.

That statement of before, about his heartbeat now perhaps not being the strongest one here, proved to be false. Kindle felt as if his heart was going to jump out of his chest, every pulse threatening to break his ribs with its intensity as the ninetales came closer to his destination.

Don't drag your paws, don't walk too fast. The ninetales started to move in softer, swifter steps. Touching the ground only on the spot his paw had to support itself, to not brush the ground with his cold body and wither the plants underneath him.

The entrance was nearing.Kindle suddenly became superconscious of the sounds around him. The soft rustling of the leaves as the wind brushed them. The sound of his steps as his paws carried him along. The sound of his troubled breathing as he started to hyperventilate, creating small, snowy clouds in front of his snout as he tried in vain to control himself.

Keep your tails off the ground, but not too high. The nine tails moved like one behind him in a rehearsed movement, seeking to not accidentally touch grass or flower, and not wither them with the ice inside of him. He had to try many times to manage to do it without causing a small snowstorm to begin falling behind him. These new tails were as troublesome as they were elegant, but at last he managed to hold them in a way that wouldn't kill the plantlife he came across.

Kindle kept adopting these small manners one after another as pressed harder to increase his pace, trying to both to finally make it inside the village, and to keep following his self-imposed rules. The ninetales had to stop merely a few steps before the entrance to compose himself. He didn't sit down, as he perhaps couldn't assume the correct posture again if he did, but he slightly bent his knees to rest. His breathing started to ease, no longer creating clouds of snow, but still being visible in the air for a split of a second after he exhaled. Well, there was nothing he could to about that.

The ninetales closed his eyes for a few seconds, before opening them again as he walked inside. And there he was, in the village. The fox froze in place upon seeing the shaymin, his white body seeming to become an ice statue in the middle of the street. His gaze darted all across the surrounding like a baby who finally opened its eyes, curious about everything yet so helpless to even take a step forwards. The ice fox had to actually put all his willpower to move again, keeping his head low, his tails high, and his eyes wide open. But oh, misfortune had to strike him like it always did, and as his eyes kept looking everywhere but directly in front, his paws managed to find a hole in the road and the ninetales tripped in such amazing fashion he felt his shoulder nearly dislocating as his head hit the ground with such strength he began to see stars in plain midday. Kindle layed in there for a few seconds, trying to recover from both the concussion and the shame of having tripped like that in front of the creatures he respected the most. The fox wanted to cover his face with his tails and just pretend to be invisible for a few days or so, until everyone forgot about what they had just witnessed, but he knew that couldn't be. Kindle slowly stood up with his eyes firmly shut in silent shame, steadying his paws in the ground... and hearing it let out an all-too-familiar creak from under him.

The ninetales mind snapped to full alert as he looked underneath him to confirm his fears. There was now a wide patch of frozen grass under his paws, stretching a little from the point he had tripped at. Icy veins slithering in all directions for a few steps worth of ground in a spectacle that would have been pretty in any other situation. Kindle looked at the floor wide-eyed, if before he had turned into a statue, the ninetales now appeared to be frozen in time itself as he stared at his mistake. The many rules he had been carefully following suddenly abandoned his mind, error messages following each other at increasing speed before too dying in a white noise that translated his thoughts quite well. Good job, Kindle.

The Shaymin seemed to notice pretty quickly, but they were being polite. They seemed to know that Kindle was part of Team Spectrum, and was probably visiting as a checkup to make sure no new Shadows had appeared. One of them approached cautiously.

"Um... Everything is fine here, if you're checking up on things. ever since that incident in autumn, there hasn't been anything else that broke the peace."

Kindle snapped back to reality when he heard the shaymin's voice, his mental gears slowly starting to circle again inside of his head, though he hadn't yet processed what they said. The ninetales kept looking at the ground, mumbling an apology for a good five seconds before the word "incident" registered. The ninetales blinked as he remembered what Icetales had said, corrupted shaymin. For some reason that thought kept scaring him more than any of the other corrupted legendaries out there, probably because of his closure with the gratitude pokemon what home. Kindle shook his head to himself a few times, before finally answering, in a sort of incoherent mumbling once again. Kindle took a deep breath, before trying again. "T-that's... good to know, I'll be sure to tell the others when I go back, but I'm also here for..." *Kindle left his sentence incomplete, as the strings of worry in his head forced him to ask away. "But before that, has everyone recovered from what happened?" He asked as his paws brushed the icy coat under him, reminding the ninetales of his mistake that he would need to repay. Kindle left the what happened up in the air as he, honestly, didn't know all the details aside from the vague explanations he had gotten. The ninetales wished with all his being that the answer would be a yes that could at least ease his heart, but also prepared for a no so it wouldn't hit him too hard.

"Yes, we've all been recovered," Shaymin said. "It was a little long, but you know how fields can be. Even after the greatest fires, the plants will grow back. That's no different for here!"

Indeed, it seemed that Shaymin Village was looking normal. The only signs that there had been an incident at all were in little dents and blasts in the rocky walls that surrounded the place at the bottom of the mountain, but the buildings and fields were all back to working order.

Kindle visible relaxed when he heard those words and looked around. The village indeed had a healthy appearance, and the fox's tails started to wag unconsciously before he stopped them to not accidentally freeze anything else. But the village was full of life and purity, in the air and in its people, just like always.

Just like home.

Kindle sighed, relieved, before he made a step further inside, causing the ice under him to creak again and painfully remind him of its existence. The ninetale looked down, before asking; "...Can I do something to help with... this?" He said unsure, wishing once again to become invisible.

"Oh, don't worry about that," Shaymin said with a disarming smile. "When you go, it'll melt and thaw. A little ice won't be the end of the world."

"Aside from the Bittercold," quipped another Shaymin, who took an Energy Ball to the side by a third.

Kindle couldn't help but smile when he saw the shaymin being shut up by an energy ball, just like he had seen many times. Right after they had made a comment when other was giving talking in that particular way about life they had, like he too was used to see and hear. So much that those words even made him feel ikd. The ninetales was now almost ecstatic, much that he missed the obvious question of "who is the bittercold?" He would normally make. Kindle was just too marveled at how they even acted like the shaymins back home.

Like his family.

Kindle shook his head to hide a little tear under his fur, before stepping out of the icy path and once again looking around as he inhaled the pure air inside the village. The ninetales closed his eyes for a second , simply enjoying the flowery fragrance, before once again looking at the shaymin around. The only thing he would wish for, would be to see his sister among them, but he knew that couldn't happen. Not here anyways. Kindle stepped out of the ice completely, for once not minding the creaks before looking at the one that had been talking with him. Shaymins felt gratitude, he knew it, and he also knew that right now he probably felt like a fountain of gratitude to them. As the knot of long-held emotions in his soul finally eased up after a long time. Kindle flooped his ears over the little fluff in his head, before giving the shaymin a reverence lowering his paws and head. Maybe they weren't expecting it, or wasn't necessary, but it felt just right to him.

"O-oh!" The Shaymin seemed taken aback, stepping away, but nodded back. "Er, um, thank you. We, you're from a different world, so... perhaps we are more important where you are from. But here, we are... well... kind spirits that simply live amongst ourselves. It's a peaceful life..." She looked Kindle over, nodding. "And thank you for your efforts to saving Cibus, too."

The ninetales nodded as he got up, giving the shaymin a genuine smile as he did. Perhaps they were a bit more important in his homeworld, but it was all the same for him. "I know, still, thanks for welcoming me." Both times... "Though I came here with a request-" The fox had to clear his throat to not choke with the words, thinking about how rude of him it was to only come to their home to ask for something. "Could you give me a gracidea, please? I know that... Well, back home your kind only gave that as a gift to show gratitude too, though I'm not sure if its the same here. I'm just asking because..." Damnit, there was that insecurity again. Kindle paused a second to compose himself, before continuing. "I wanted something to remind me of my home, and a gracidea is the only thing I could think about, since is so special. For me and for everyone back there." Kindle silently considered if he remembered enough to be able to take care of the little flower, he still would have to worry about not accidentally killing it before he could plant at least one more, to not bother the shaymin over and over. If they gave one to him that's it

"A Gracidea? Well, sure." Shaymin grinned, then nodded toward another one nearby, who flew off. "They are very special gifts that we give... but considering you're part of Team Spectrum, and it would help you feel at peace while battling in this foreign land, I don't really see why not! Besides, we really are grateful, aren't we?"

The other Shaymin returned with the flower, which was wrapped in a protective cloth. "Be gentle with it, now," he said.

Kindle felt bad for benefiting from something which someone else had done far more than him for, but he couldn't complain. He smiled again, before giving the shaymin a nod. "Thank you... It means a lot." *He said as he carefully picked up the cloth with one of his tails. He had practiced a bit on their fine movement like Icetales had told him, and was getting better at it, though he could still only control a few at the same time if he was doing separate things with them. "I'll make sure to be gentle, do you have any tips for making sure it stays healthy?"

"Hmm... you'll want to be in a warm environment, so if you're going back to Destiny Village, you should ask for an artificial greenhouse or something to keep it healthy." Shaymin nodded, considering other requirements. "You look like you know the basics already. That's my only advice for making sure it can work even in a place like there."

Kindle nodded as he thanked the shaymin, feeling the comforting weight of the flower in his tails. "I'll tell the rest of the group about how things are going better here. Thank you for everything." The ninetales said, and had to contain himself from doing yet another reverence to the hedgehog before him.

Shaymin grinned and stood there a little awkwardly like before, but let him do his thing. Soon, they departed, and the Shaymin talked amongst themselves about their little Dark Warrior representative. The ice thawed as he left, and soon all returned to normalcy once more.

Deoxys and Karat would be fine, the team just got back from fighting Maple and were prepping to save Eien, Vix was gone, and Puddle was finally free to do whatever. So, instead of falling into a puddle of a tired mess, it decided to go around and checking in on its siblings. There was a few it hadn't had a chance to chat with, and a lot it hadn't chatted to in ages... so randomly guessing it went!

Luckily, Puddle texted up its sibling that frequent that pleasant flower place, with all the tiny living shrub thingies... Shaymin, or something. Their village sounded like the perfect place to rest up, and it was kinda far so it'd probably be best to check on whoever was here first anyway. Puddle sent a quick text, saying it'd swing by to check in on Ayla and Kindle. It didn't take anything special with it, just a bag with a few berries and a lot of bottles of soda. Should be enough for this lil trip.

As Puddle arrived and said hi to the locals, it pulled out its badge again, sending Ayla another quick hello and heads up that it arrived. Should be somewhere around here, right? There wasn't another Shaymin Village?

"Any idea who is texting us?" Kindle asked while walking around, carrying his familiar on his back like a horse. Unwillingly of course. The fox looked relaxed, much more so than about a month ago, and definitely more relaxed than when he first came into Cibus.

"Someone called Soup. I guess they like soup." Alya answered, shrugging. Or at least attempting to shrug, such gesture is always hard to get right when one is laying down or upside down. Or in her case, both. The familiar laid on her back on top of Kindle, resting her head against the back of his neck and getting his fur all dirty of black goo. "Everyone has boring food names."

"What do you-" The fox began while turning around, and then spotted it. "...Cheese sticks? Seriously? You only had these-" She put her paw onto his mouth to make him shut up. Kindle winced at the strange taste in his mouth when a little of the fluid made it to his tongue, and recoiled his head away from her.

Alya just rolled her eyes before returning to the chat, writing a message that said "We are near the entrance." But hesitated before sending it. A little smile appeared on her face as she deleted it, before writing a different message.

"Wrong village."

Puddle stopped, reading over the message that just came in. It didn't take long for it to simmer, then chuckled. They got it good for a second, it almost believed it wound up in the wrong place. It typed up a response, only paying enough attention to not bump into anyone.

[Soup > Cheese Sticks]: haha, funny joke. where you guys at tho i dunno how long soda stays cold in a bag. ain't my fault if you dont get none.

"...I really hope they were joking," Puddle muttered, stretching out its back. Not that it needed to, but it felt pretty nice.
