Thousand Roads' second anniversary is coming up in a couple weeks, so I'm starting to get together plans for our celebration. I have some ideas for events, but I'm always interested in hearing what other things people might be interested in. Here's what I've come up with so far:
- We'll be hosting another fanfic mafia game similar to the ones we've held in years past (if you're not sure what I'm talking about, you can see how last year's went here). I'm currently planning another RP-optional game in the same style as we've played the past two years, but if you would prefer a different style (no RP, all RP, something else?), please speak up; I think we might have enough interest this year to run more than one game, so we may be able to accommodate multiple different playstyles if there's demand.
- There will be a small review event, similar to the one run last year
- I'd also like to have some kind of small writing/drawing event. Drabble tag kind of fills a similar niche to the event I did last year, so I was thinking of changing this one up. Maybe something along the lines of people drawing quick sketches to serve as writing prompts, or people writing drabbles and then people doing sketches based on them? One way or another, I'd like this to be something quick/easy to participate in, so writing would want to be drabble length or definitely no more than 1k words, and art would likewise want to be quick and unpolished (something like Draw 4 Expose, maybe?)--if anyone has thoughts on what they'd like to see from a writing/possibly art event, definitely let me know!
- Maybe distinct from the above, maybe separate, but potentially a group writing event of some kind. An example might be to set a goal of 30k words for the event, and every sprint run on Discord during that time counts towards the goal, and if it's made everyone gets a prize, or similar. Something to help people get work done on their own writing goals, without putting pressure on for any one person to do a ton of work. This idea is obviously still pretty nebulous, but if you have any thoughts on an event in this vein, I'd love to hear them.
- Discord voice chats! These have been a good time in the past, so they'll certainly return in some form this year. A voice chat where we take turn reading people's fanfics was mentioned as something to try on the Discord server earlier, and I think this would be an excellent opportunity to try that out. Perhaps one or two reading chats and one or two general "hang out and chat" chats?
- Maybe something else! In the past we've had games (For the Queen, One Night Ultimate Zoroark) run over Discord, for example. If there's something you'd like to see added to the list, whether you're able to run the event yourself or not, let me know! The idea is to keep events small and casual so that people can mix and match several without feeling overwhelmed, but outside that restriction, pretty much anything is game!
