Looks like December 22nd is the starting day. So since there is a bit of time before crunch let's all settle in. Set our goals. Or chatter/speculate about who will earn what. Story suggestions, point goals, point pointers for the new, and bragging on rec'ed tales (even your own!) are -as always- welcome here.

As usual, I don't make concrete plans because I don't want to promise anyone anything. Especially if life chooses to get in the way please god i'm begging you can i test negative for covid i need to get my infusion next month please make it go away. And, as per usual, I will have minimal participation in one week (week 3) as that's when AGDQ is happening and I want to watch.

With any luck I'll be fully review'd up with @windskull's Places We Call Home again. Maybe @Flyg0n's LA and @SparklingEspeon's Psychic Cats. There is one fic I had in mind as my potential "larger tackle," since I finished Navar's fic last Blitz. But, provided I can make it happen, it will be a surprise for the author.

Honestly I'm hoping to do a review a day (so 28 reviews). I've got some stories I want to whittle down but am also on the look out for any new members that haven't gotten a whole lot of attention with plans to reverse that trend.

Anyone know anyone who is feeling neglected?

I'll probably try to make this more of a 'catch-up' Blitz for me as opposed to last year's, where I reviewed no less than the beginning of five new fics. And I already have other fics that I still have lots of catching up on to do. I may not be the best at managing my reading list. Therefore, I probably won't be making too many inroads into new fics this time around and will mostly spend my time on fics I've already started reading.

That said, I might make one slight exception if there's a New Fic Week like there was last year, and read a good chunk of one new fic to avail of those sweet, sweet bonus points. @windskull's Places We Call Home is a very possible contender for this.

As for other fics I've made progress on and am looking to read more of are:

Whether I'll get to all of these or not is still up in the air, given that I'll be busier around late December/early January than I have been in the last two years at the same time of year. But I'll give a good try nonetheless.

Definitely want to get deeper in Once a Thief. My only other plans are to maybe hit up icomeanon's fic since it's pretty new and go way back to Suicune's choice since I still have not finished reviewing that.

It's still tentative, but I've really enjoyed Namo's CYOA ("You are a Rock") that he's been running since March, so I'm thinking about diving into Hands of Creation for this year's blitz, especially since to my understanding it's planned to be ending next year. If I can manage an average of one chapter a day for the blitz, I'll be happy with that!

I usually don't set hard catchup goals for Review Blitzes since working down the annual list is typically an event in and of itself. [Starlight Aurate]

I anticipate I won't have as much time for the Blitz this year, as I'll be travelling during it. But! Ideally, I'd like to catch up on Places We Call Home, The End: Rekindled, Legendary Adventures and Salvage. There are other fics I still need to catch up on, but those ones feel the most realistic (for now lol).

Maybe I should try this year, even if I hate the idea of a massive reading rush. Would be an excuse to read/catch up monochrome swans and the desert more, but not sure what else. I could use recommendations. No PMD. (I can be bribed into reading PMD or otherwise Pokemon viewpoint fics.)

 

[Rusting Knight]

I’m setting my ambitions very high, because this is my first year doing a Review Blitz & I have a lot of time on my hands to dig into some longer fics. Mostly what I’m looking to review at least two chapters of: Like a Dragon, Just Hold Still, Hunter, Haunted, PMD: Path of Valour & to finish The Suicine’s Choice (which I’ve started reading & really like).

Frankly I was hoping to release a new story this month, or at least get it out of draft.

Oh well... Anyway... :p

There are a few reviews I have pending from previous years and stuff.... that I might give a try. The primary two things I want to try and get more into are @StolenMadWolf 's Mercenaries of Dawn and @Spiteful Murkrow and @Virgil134 's Fledglings (a bit of a regular thing for me elsewhere). Other than that there's a few drabbles and small thingies that have drawn my attention such as @kyeugh 's kladde anthology and @Phoenixsong 's Eternal Gold .

After that? Let's see what comes, time permitting.

Welp, my hands are pretty heavily tied between trying to keep some momentum up with my creative projects (which not only includes my PMD fics, but also some original setting stuff that I'm trying to prep) and my new job, however, there are more than a few fics I could do with revisiting and offering some kind of review for.

At the very least, I can do one or two chapter reviews for a few different fics, old and new, maybe more depending on what time I've got to spare, some of which I've read in the past. And if some folks are opting to do some fresh reviews on anything I've written I'm more than happy to return the favor as well!

It's been a year already huh, well this time I plan on trying to do another review trade. I also plan on reading more of @Arukona's Dual Wills.
This year I finally ported my other main fic, and ported all of my main over so that's good.

I hope to do some more reading of others I reviewed too, and maybe hit a new target or two in a review, though I've not very fast at these things.

Let's see... One fic I'd meant to have reviewed by now but never got around to is @SmilingPudding7753's Refrain from a Heathen's Hymn. Very striking and highly original work that I'd love to see get more attention. Think my first goal for the blitz is catching up on the latest chapters and finally reviewing.

This also seems like the time to finally (finally) finish catching up on @Chibi Pika's The Legendarian Chronicles, which I started reading years ago and fell off of when I took an extended hiatus from the fanfic scene. In the interest of easier math, I think before the blitz starts I'll cobble together some reactions to the big chunk I've read since whenever I last reviewed it, then review what I read during the blitz more properly with some actual note-taking.

After that, we'll see!

I just don't really have my head in the game right now. I'd love to be able to read and review more but I haven't even finished with Timeslip and that's a fic I greatly enjoy. And I was supposed to spend November finishing The Devil You Know but couldn't write more than about two hundred words the whole month. Who even knows when I can do the next part of Gakutensoku.

So writing reviews would be a bit off the table unless they can be short for shorter works.

...so if anyone HAS shorter works (under 15k or so) they wouldn't mind shorter reviews for then let me know. And if you want to READ shorter works that's most of mine.
