This fanfiction is a canon-flexible story for the Pokemon anime. The story will follow canon events from the anime, but only to a certain extent. For example, Ash and his similarly-aged friends are not going to be around 10 years old forever. Ash, Misty, May, Dawn, Iris, Clemont and Serena are all around 14, Max will have just turned 10 years old, etc. Furthermore, Pokemon Contests continue to be as they were in Advanced, Frontier, and Diamond & Pearl, having both a preliminary round and a battle round. They will not be whatever Pokemon Journeys had going on with the Pokemon Contests, as I feel that really ruined them in the anime.
The story will have some dark moments, but I'm not going to go full-blown 2012 edgelord mode with it, so try not to let it scare you off. It will still be quite light-hearted like the anime usually is. Like the anime, I want this story to be appropriate and enjoyable for people of all ages, so there's not going to be any swearing, extreme violence, etc. And as far as shipping goes, I want to make some of the ships open to interpretation, but there will also be heavy leaning into specific ships. For example, Serena will still have strong feelings for Ash and it will be brought up on occasion, but Ash/Serena is not the focus of this story, so, don't expect any heavy shippy moments between them for most of the story. This is Serena's story, first and foremost.
As far as criticism goes, I'm open to constructive criticism, but nothing about ships, absolutely NO Serena hate, etc. And at the end of the day, this story is really meant just for fun.
