Inexcusable tropes in Pokemon fanfiction.

In my many years of writing Pokemon fanfics I have seen many common tropes that will immediately kill the momentum a story has. This is a list of various tropes I personally see as problematic. Please respond with your own I'd love to hear from you.

1. The protagonist cheats/ Illogical way to win a trainer battle with no punishment.

The only time something like this would work is a Fuck the rules or evil protagonist but most of the time this doesn't happen to be the case. It also feels so contrived it hurts my soul

2. Overpowered characters that disrupt the power balance/flow

Having a set power hierarchy in a universe is a very good way to keep worldbuilding stable in that aspect. Disrupting that will lead to the rest of your cast playing catch up and abruptly rushing the abilities of your characters. It's unreasonable and quite jarring.

3. Legendary Pokemon and how they are involved.

CONTRIVED, Very ass and inexcusable. Stuff like Jirachi being used to break someone out of prison or Keldeo being used to preform basic tasks. Legendaries if they are involved in your story at all should be made good use of. They have deep lore and are basically Gods for a reason.

4. Protagonist forgetting Pokemon they have that was built up prior exists.

Name speaks for itself but it's super goddamn common across longer stories. If they have a way to write them off for a while it's a nonissue but If they flat out ignore a Pokemon that they had previously used to some notable degree then we have a problem.

There are many more tropes however these are very jarring ones I see everywhere that I felt it best to address

Perhaps a compilation of poorly applied tropes and ideas of how to fix would be a better angle rather than bashing?

While I get venting has it's place (Sue's are perhaps my least favorite aspect of fandom unless used as satire and I have a personal list that if enough lines get ticked off I mark an OC as a Sue and drop the fic) setting up tools to identify problematically applied tropes and helping others to avoid it might be a better angle.
