Echo fluttered anxiously near Eien's fallen form, checking her over for injuries. He'd tried his best to slow her fall, even if the effort hadn't amounted to much agaisnt her massive size.

Koa watched him for moment, thankful he was alright. As the storm cleared, the sky returning to some semblancy of normal, his gaze turned upwards, to the moon. Too big, too bright, and out in the middle of day.

He muttered something under his breath that would've gotten him in a lot of trouble with Blake. Echo, from across the field, turned at looked at him curiously before eyeing the moon. Finally he turned back to the team, still keeping one eye upwards.

"Are you two alright?" he asked Diyem and Owen.

"Been better..." Owen groaned, feeling like something had slipped where it shouldn't have somewhere on his body. Nothing a bit of healing wouldn't fix, but for the time being, he wasn't sure if he was able to stand even if he wanted to.

"Nnngh..." Diyem rolled to his front and crawled toward one of the heads of Eien nearby. With his current, but diminished size, he was about the length of one of her head-fingers, and he murmured something to her. And she murmured back. "Eien?"

But just then, the moon's luminosity seemingly doubled, followed by a ripple of black, white, silver, and gold energy. It swirled, pulsed across the surface, and then collected near the center, from the team's perspective.

Eien stirred. "No..." She forced herself up. "I won't... let you..."

"Eien!"
Diyem stood up.

"Please," Eien said to him, and Diyem hesitated.

He snarled, nodding. "Everyone! Clear the area!"

Diyem wasn't moving; he was staying behind and concentrating the last of his power, just as Eien was. In the far distance, Maple was flying toward them next.

Pop was sending a message back to Bahamut, but then abruptly stopped. Moments later, he and Cola appeared next to them and looked up.

"Soda's about to fire. It's even stronger," Pop reported, but then eyed Eien. "...Is she--"

"Get ready to help her. Everyone else! Leave! Joule! Form a wormhole!"

"Y-yes, of course! I'll--nearby, Water Continent for now, er--"

"NOW!"

The moon fired; they had seconds, and Joule formed the portal.

A look of horror dawned on Starr's face. "Everyone get the fuck in there right now!" she barked, shoving Sword through the portal the moment she'd finished dragging Shield onto her back.

Lexx stared upward with a hand over his brow and let out a low whistle. "Woww, nothing here is surviving that, huh."

"That includes you!" she snapped, grabbing him by the scruff and dragging him in after her.

Hadn't the team gotten some spiel about five sacred energies or some other garbage? Clearly there was about to be a clash of five sacred energies. Or did it become ten sacred energies in this case?

Whatever. Didn't matter. Much as Bahamut might've wanted to just let the beam strike, he doubted it'd have the result he wanted. Nor was he so unskilled that he'd need to focus to cast some healing energy. So, while he heard Diyem barking, he flew toward Joule and sent the last of the lingering Sunny Orb's light as a Morning Sun toward Eien, Diyem... and Owen, because that charizard was absolutely enough of a dope to try something stupid.

He entered the portal the moment it formed.

No answer before the moon was— shit.

He rushed forward, gritting his teeth. “Soda, wait!” Why the fuck would he hear him? He was on the fucking moon. If there was no kind of response or sign immediately he was hightailing it through that portal.

"Fuck."

Back where Soul had departed from, Celeste was lying unconscious on the ground. If this blast reached that size, then there would be nothing she could do about it. She was grateful this wasn't his only life, but... If he died... Isn't that what you wanted? You did this. This is your 'closure.'

There was nothing more to do.

Celeste's last wish echoed in her head...

Please... Move on. Forget me.

She couldn't forget. She wouldn't... But she could move on. What else could she do, stay here and karmically die with him? Well, yes, that was possible, but it wasn't really a good decision. There was one and only one sane thing left for her to do.

Soul swooped through the portal, leaving her family to fend for themselves on the other side.

"Celeste, Mother, please be okay."

He had to move fast, there was no time, no time-

Koa swept the area, quelling the panic inside him, taking reassurance in the ever unflappable and determined presence of Echo. Was anyone still behind- Owen. The Charizard had been injured. Although even injured he looked like he was preparing something. Still...

His gaze locked onto Owen and he bounded towards him, shouting out as he did - "I can take your pokeball." He called out the words in loud shout, jumbled, but he knew Owen would understand the meaning. In a few bounds, he had reached the huge Charizard's side. Even in his new form, he still wasn't as large as him, though he was somewhat close. Much bulkier now at least.

Owen always had his pokeball on him, that much he knew from living with the Charizard. If he needed a ride, there was just enough time - maybe - to withdraw Owen and get out fast. Perhaps enough for Owen to finish his plan and escape. And even if he refused, there was time enough to get away anyway. But he wasn't taking the chance of just leaving him.

Saltriv's eyes widened, and they began preparing a Heal Pulse--

"No! We need to leave!" Burhalla said, taking his friend by the foreleg. Saltriv took one last look at Eien, frowned, and ran into the portal. Burhalla was close behind.

"I'm sorry..."

Brisa and Luz took Diyem's order to heart, sprinting to the portal, and harrying any teammates too slow to react.

"Koa! Portal! Now!"

And then they were through.

Please be enough.

Nip had every reason to assume he couldn't survive that shot. And his instincts were screaming at him to run. But he couldn't just do nothing either. Focusing, he drew upon the energy needed for Moonlight, aiming it in the general direction of Diyem, Owen, and Eien. He opened his mouth to call for the others to grab Sword and Shield, but Starr was already on it.

As soon as the energy of moonlight escaped his claw tips, he turned and bolted. Tempest was waiting for him just beside the portal. He just hoped he had enough time to escape.

"Celeste, Mother, please be okay."
His gaze locked onto Owen and he bounded towards him, shouting out as he did - "I can take your pokeball."
"No! We need to leave!"
"Koa! Portal! Now!"
Focusing, he drew upon the energy needed for Moonlight, aiming it in the general direction of Diyem, Owen, and Eien.

And so many others scrambled in that one moment to do everything they could. Some of them obeyed Diyem and fled; others, for one reason or another, could not or did not. Owen tossed a prepared Shining Bestow--the strongest he'd ever conjured--toward Diyem, Eien, and Pop all at once, finding it insane that he would ever pass along his power to such gods in this way. And yet, he did, just as the world around him disappeared, and he was in a cozy little sphere carried through a portal. All the while, he hoped beyond hope that it would be enough.

Eien fired. The backfire alone knocked her head down several feet, but she endured and pressed onward. Shockwave after shockwave pummeled the land, sending anyone who remained tumbling away and into the remains of the storm and the Sea of Wonders' wastelands. Nip was caught in the blast.

--

They were in Lively Town, the nearest place that Joule was able to quickly set themselves toward. Everyone seemed startled at the sudden, portal-like arrival, especially when so many looked battered and bruised. "Wish us luck!" Joule said with a cheerful salute, and closed the portal only seconds after the shockwaves pulsed through Lively Town, destroying several nearby windows. It was brief--the portal closed right after, with Joule still in the Sea of Wonders.

An abnormal silence followed, like their bodies could not yet believe they'd exited battle. Several bystanders watched hesitantly, intimidated by the sheer, powerful auras they gave off. It was a noticeable change. Team Spectrum had always been powerful, yes, but now... there was an aura about them that radiated outward. They could feel the pressure of their very presence. How strong they'd become...

"Look!" Cal shouted, pointing south.

The moon was out, and it seemed distant. But it was so bright that it cut through the afternoon sky. They could see the Lunatic Cannon in its full, distant glory, seconds away from impacting Cibus. It was like doomsday. Several bystanders watched; Nutmeg and Pita flew from the Expedition Society with Mew just behind, staring in awe.

This Lunatic Cannon was different. The energies spiraling about seemed to be different kinds, twisting like a drill toward the planet. An impact like that... would it do more than scorch the archipelago? Would it do worse than that?

"Can we do... anything?" Zacian breathed.

"We did all we could," Owen said gravely, emerging from his ball. He still couldn't move, but he wanted to see this with his eyes. His claws dug into the cobblestone, trying to rise higher, but Cal urged him to stay put.

"...Wait," Zacian said. "From the ground!"

At the edge of the horizon, a new beam emerged, this time originating from Cibus. The beam was just as large, primarily red-tinged, but spiraled with black and white flames that they knew so well. It was Eien's. Sparks of energy, ever so distant, felt like they were more invigorated than usual--as if Eien had more energy than she'd thought. Was that because of their efforts to heal? Did it... have an effect?

Eien's strike was accented with more darkness along the edges. It wasn't a balanced Blacklight attack. Those looked like Diyem's. There was an accompanying beam next to it--twin golden beams they could attribute to Maple and Joule. There were silver trails of light that weaved through the air like they had minds of their own--that was a Judgement attack.

The two beams collided. The air where they met distorted and clouds disappeared instantly, and the shockwave was continuing outward. After several more seconds, a deafening BOOM rocked the earth, shattering weaker windows and felling weaker, drier tree branches, all the way in the Water Continent. The earth continued to shake even after the initial shock; several Pokemon lost their footing.

But the shaking... was getting weaker.

"Y-you're kidding..." Zacian stood up once she found it safe enough to.

A red haze enveloped Eien's beam. There was a roar--a defiant cry--but the way other Pokemon weren't reacting, only Team Spectrum could hear it. But they were hearing different things. While Owen heard Diyem roaring, putting more passion into this strike than perhaps anything in his existence, Cal heard a new voice. Deep, powerful, perhaps vaguely feminine, but most of all, one that filled them with untold vigor, just by hearing it. The voice of someone who would put everything they could into protection.

Seconds more passed, and there was a flash of light that obscured the beams' collision. But as it faded, and as the shaking came to an abrupt stop, they could only see one thing:

The moon, scattered into several pieces in the sky.

This stunned silence left the Lively Town natives in complete awe. There was another rumble that startled a few on Team Spectrum--but it was just their badges going off.

[Pop > Team Spectrum]: Heal pls.

Along with that message was an image of Pop, covered in scorch marks and other wounds, with a triumphant glint in his one working eye.

A portal opened. Joule, with half of his face missing, peeked through. "Hello!" he greeted, and then pushed an unconscious and badly injured--yet shielded--Weavile through, along with various pieces of a reforming Ninetales Ultra Shade. "Heal them, thank you! Ah, and then us! I cannot feel my face!"

He disappeared through the portal again, and then promptly collapsed.

Saltriv immediately got to work, firing Heal Pulse after Heal Pulse at Nip and Tempest. They couldn't stop glancing upwards, though, where the moon's remains were scattered across the sky.

If they had stayed behind, could they have helped? Could they prevent everyone from being so badly injured?

Their leaf drooped behind their neck, as their heal pulses began to get weaker, before a clawed, black hand was placed on one of their forelegs.

"You did what you could," Burhalla said, looking up towards Saltriv's head. "If you'd stayed, you'd be just as badly injured as them. Or...worse."

"I know...but...I promised I'd help Eien..." they said, looking down. Their heal pulses stopped entirely.

"And you helped her. She's no longer corrupted. You helped save her," Burhalla retorted. "If not for your help...that moon beam might have actually hit. Eien wouldn't be there to stop it."

"...ok. Thank you, Burhalla," Saltriv said, giving a weak smile back. They resumed healing Nip and Tempest, their heal pulses back to almost full strength.

Almost.

Dave stared up at the shattered moon. The whole thing, just… blown to pieces.

He clenched his jaw and exhaled, looking away. Wasn’t like there would’ve been anything left of Soda to salvage anyway. Died trying to end the fucking world. Good riddance. (If he was even dead. Wasn’t he some kind of god? Why would blowing up the astrological body he was on even stop him? Goddamn it.)

Green. Was Green still there? Yellow? They hadn’t known what would happen to them, had they. What about the last one that they’d never found - was he out there somewhere, watching the moon shatter, putting some contingency plan in motion?

He pulled out his badge, typing with shaking paws.

[Scotch > SodaG]: You still there?

--

While Saltriv helped heal Nip and Tempest back to proper working order, others advanced through the portal Joule left behind to assist with the others. Mellow ended up healing Joule, who was closest, and while some of the injuries did not immediately go away, he was looking genuinely more energetic, instead of his usual front of confidence.

Further ahead, Maple was shaking off some injuries of her own, though all of them were rapidly healing. A specter of a Hydreigon flew around her, blowing an odd mist on some of the wounds, which rapidly closed upon contact.

Diyem was reduced to a core with patches of shadow remaining, but that might have been out of defense or strain than actual injury; there was a sense that he was in decent condition. Cola was dashing around the area--he must have been protected, since he looked the least harmed. He was carrying pieces of Pop's ring for repair later; the god of Cibus himself was collapsed on the ground, unmoving, but breathing.

Eien didn't seem to be anywhere--the hulking creature was completely gone... Though, there was a new creature near Diyem's patchy form. While smaller than Maple, this creature was still titanic in size, but nothing compared to Eien. But the way she nuzzled against Diyem, mumbling something in a rumbling, deep voice... Raven would recognize her on some innate level as Eien.

Above them, the moon's fragments drifted away from one another from the impact, slowly, as if in slow motion. They drifted slower and slower... and then they stopped. This did not go unnoticed, but by the time everyone was looking skyward, it was clear that the pieces... were starting to move back together.

They’d blown up the moon. That was... bad for the planet. This town was very close to the water. “Those of you who can’t heal should direct people to higher ground. Without a moon, the tides could breach the town.”

“On the bright side, Giovanni is probably in excruciating pain,” Polaris chirped.

Bahamut didn’t even survey the area. Just sent Morning Sun energy to the deities around him.

Very impressive work, Chief. Good to see you're still in one piece.

Brisa and Luz both had their own interest in Eien, but... Best not to crowd her. If you could crowd a titan. And besides... Brisa wanted to check on certain other members of the team. A quick conference between the zeraora pair, and a quick check that no greater emergency was presenting itself, and they split up.

While Brisa searched the area for those closest to her, Luz went to Eien's side. Some 'mon would be nervous around such a fearsome entity, not least one that had so recently been the centrepiece to an apocalypse. Not Luz.

"How d'you do, Ma'am?" she asked. "Are y'feelin' more yerself now?"

"I don't think that'll be necessary for too long," Owen said to Bahamut, pointing up. "The moon's... pulling itself back together. All the gravity's still there... Uh, we should still look out for tidal waves. Pretty sure whole islands hit the water..."

"Kyogre's gonna be busy," Cal remarked.

Eien looked, in some way, fatigued. Her body was alien and skeletal in nature, purples and reds much like the storms that she'd produced. She turned her gaze to Luz with flickering, white eyes that had no pupils. "I... do not know," she said. "Are you... of Didi's--er, Diyem's team? Wait... no, you're..."

[Scotch > SodaG]: Hold on, it’s pulling itself back together. What the fuck.

Dave stared up at the moon. So Prime was still up there. Tenacious fucker. Had the blast even put a dent in him? Maybe he was weakened enough they could capture him safely. Or maybe he was just pissed. No way to tell.

Well, that caught him off guard. First, the moon was destroyed right after they barely escaped. Which was bad, but good. They'd stopped that super cannon or whatever, but now the moon was in pieces except it wasn't, it was somehow reforming. Which was good, he was pretty sure. Except somehow Soda was still up there, doing something insane, trying to rewrite the universe.

At least everyone was safe. Owen...Brisa... Dave... even Nip, who Saltriv had healed. That was all that mattered for now. And Eien. Echo seemed pleased as well about that.

Some of the tension left his body, and before he knew it, there was a faint glow and crackle of electricity, and his new form faded, and he was a regular Manectric again. Interesting... "So now what?" Koa asked tiredly.

Echo, meanwhile, fluttered over to Eien and immediately chirped a greeting.
