Character Theme Songs

Hey guys, no idea if anyone has come up with this before, but I thought it would be neat if we introduce characters from our fics, give a description of them, and give each character a theme song. You could then explain why you think it works!

Free free to give a regular theme, a battle theme, or both!

I think anytime someone posts a new character, I'll post a themesong for it too so people can get their characters out there for their fics as a way of advertising them and they can get some reaction from me posting my own thoughts for a theme!

I'll go first:

The Doduo that follows the protagonist from my Trading Card Game 2: Doduo Adventures fic!

This Doduo is weird. He sleeps with both heads at once when normal Doduo would alternate heads sleeping. He is masochistic and recovers abnormally fast from damage. Doesn't mind all manner of unpleasant and unfortunate things that happen to it. Occasionally helps out others. Spreads its feathers about like a plague. It's feathers grow abnormally fast. Seems stupid all the time, but displays occasional sharp intelligence. Can get moody at times. Is highly athletic to the point where it can run on water or even up waterfalls. Is fat compared to normal Doduo. Loves to eat worms that it finds disgusting. Is able to make other Doduo feel afraid of it by unknown means. Enjoys dancing and being smug.

This theme is bouncy, carefree, a bit silly, with occasional peacefull vibes.

My Dragonite character, Mint, a semi generic "rp" char that also got their own arc in the comic.

In essense, they were a slightly awkward human that got turned into a Dragonite through some magical means. They are extremely cowardly, awkward, but are able to put that aside (somewhat) when its needed to protect their friends. They live WAAY out in Petalburg Woods, alone in a little cabin on the outskirts of civilization, where they grow berries and care for their pet Goomy. However, they also have an online job writing for the satirical news station The Oddish (basically the Onion), along with another one of my chars. uhh also they are slightly scared of meeting other humans in person which is why they live out there, even as a human (they built their house).

I don't really listen to a lot of music outside of video game osts, and this might seem slightly odd, but my choice for their regular theme might be

As an explanation: This song is a remix of one of the forest themes, its extremely subdued, slightly uneasy/mysterious feeling but nothing technically out of the ordinary, and with the potential to become something more offputting and dangerous but never gets there without some outside encourangement

Nice to see a post so fast! Also, I think game osts are perfectly valid here. I tend to go for lots of those too!

I don't know if you saw the edit to my original post, but to make it more fun, I was going to try to have every post for a new character also have the person posting pick out a theme they think would work for the character previously posted too.

In this case, it means you would read my post and pick one out for the Doduo from my fic. I was hoping to make it something everyone does so it's more fun and interactive vs everyone just posting their own character's and ignoring the ones everyone else posted.

Since I didn't have anyone post before me, I didn't have anyone to post a theme for, so I figured I would post one for you.

I think this track feels secluded, mysterious, and isolated just like how your Dragonite seems to be.

This theme for Doduo seems like it would fit very well when Doduo is moody. By that I mean distant, melancholy, and thoughtful. Its a stark contrast to it's usual attitude.

You know what, the crickets in here tell me that maybe people just want to post stuff for their own characters.

In that case, people can just post their own characters in here and can post themes to go with them. No more worry about waiting for someone else to post before posting more of your characters.

So, I've got a CHARACTER laid out for my actual fic, but the fic is not at all done yet (Figures). My character is the protagonist for this future fic, a shiny Torchic named Blitz!

Blitz is a Pokémon who is being discriminated against due to him being a shiny, but he uses jokes and humor as a way to combat the insults and such. He's very in-the-know about the apocalypse-like world that he's in, where he's just trying to survive. He's sarcastic and VERY crafty, using the resources at his disposal to make something useful. He's also QUITE reckless, often getting into fights with Pokémon MUCH stronger than him just because he can. He's also a bit religious, holding out hope that Arceus can stop the nightmare they're living in (Spoiler Alert: they can't).

Anyways, for Blitz's regular theme, I pick "A CYBER'S WORLD?" from the Deltarune Chapter 2 Soundtrack. It's a retro-feeling song, and for me, it sounds both chill and bombastic at the same time.

As for Blitz's BATTLE theme, I give you an even MORE specific choice. The song is called "Prevail" by the artist "Jarvis9999," and is available on YouTube for free. This song was made as a custom GUITAR HERO SONG, funnily enough, but it makes for quite the battle theme. It's bouncy, intense, and VERY chiptune.

Anyways, that's my music picks, and probably shows that I might like Video Game Soundtracks a bit too much...

By the way, its fantastic that you are using this to showcase a character for a fic you are writing! It gives us all a teaser for your character and upcoming fic.

Also, I don't know about you, but when I share things about my fic that people read and react to, it kind of gives me a bit of a boost in motivation to write.

Torchic's evolve into one of my favorites: Blaziken! I do like Torchic as well.

Blitz is a Pokémon who is being discriminated against due to him being a shiny, but he uses jokes and humor as a way to combat the insults and such. He's very in-the-know about the apocalypse-like world that he's in, where he's just trying to survive. He's sarcastic and VERY crafty, using the resources at his disposal to make something useful. He's also QUITE reckless, often getting into fights with Pokémon MUCH stronger than him just because he can.

Yikes how is he supposed to survive being that reckless? It doesn't sound like he picks fights because he has to in order to survive but because he feels like it. I take it he wins things by making use of things he builds in crafty ways?

He's also a bit religious, holding out hope that Arceus can stop the nightmare they're living in (Spoiler Alert: they can't).

An unexpected and nifty twist! (Both the idea and the fact that Arceus can't stop it)

Anyways, for Blitz's regular theme, I pick "A CYBER'S WORLD?" from the Deltarune Chapter 2 Soundtrack. It's a retro-feeling song, and for me, it sounds both chill and bombastic at the same time.

I am familiar with Toby Fox's music and quite thoroughly enjoyed his tracks for Undertale. I have yet to play Deltarune because I want it to be finished first even though it takes a long time...

That said, this was the first time I've had the pleasure of listening to this track and I must say, it was quite difficult to find something in my repertoire to attempt to match the vibe you are going for, but here is my pick for the regular theme for Blitz:

So this track is flowing with a sense of steady battle, but the way I imagine Blitz fighting is that he has a plan and uses clever tricks to win. Since he can't out-muscle stronger mon, he would need to move quickly at all times trying to set up whatever plan he has in mind to pull off the win. The track I selected has high energy and hops around alot before getting to the part around 2:05 where things really take off, kind of like how I imagine Blitz's battle plans to take off. You've hit the nail on the head. Blitz doesn't usually fight because he HAS to, but because he has a short fuse, ESPECIALLY with 'mons that talk trash about him. That's his fatal flaw, being overly reckless and not really thinking things through until it's too late.

As for the Arceus bit, I'm SO glad someone else feels the same way. Pokémon games always tend to have this utopia world where nothing can go wrong and everyone gets along and blah blah blah. Laaaame. So the concept I've always wanted to explore is what would happen in a world where the bad guy already won? The world is ending, but everyone just... keeps trying to live their lives? Admittedly, this was heavily inspired by Final Fantasy VI, which does something very similar, but I digress.

Anyways, thank you for taking the time to pick out some tunes for Blitz, I'll be sure to give them listen!
