There's also coping with tragedy and grief (one major character reeling from the loss of his first Pokémon, the other losing someone he looked up to due to the evil teams at work), family themes (most of the main characters have familial issues),

It's a Pokémon X Animal Crossing crossover following three trainers (league-challenging Benedict, researcher Tank, and coordinator Kidd) exploring the Hoenn region on their own journeys, who end up befriending the undercover nicotine-addicted spy Frank along with Champion Apollo Hawkwind.

A: It's about forgiveness, about love - and how one can come to forgive even vile transgressions if someone is truly sincere. It examines why people refuse to forgive themselves. Most importantly, the story also deals with death; what IS death, in a world where no being can ever permanently die? How would such beings cope? How would they behave?

It's a story about trust and betrayal with the moral of the story being to not immediately believe everything you see/hear.

Alex, the son of Cynthia, begins hearing a strange voice in his head throughout his journey. He trusts the voice, believing everything it says to him, even when that means to awaken an ancient force of evil.

Was reminded of this thread and now that I actually have a fic to talk about, I thought "ah, this will be fun, why the hell not" so here you go:

What is Pathways to Arcadia about?
It's about the struggle of moving on and learning how to grow and change as a person even after doing things many would deem to be unforgivable and how someone can continue to live with themself in the aftermath. PtA tackles themes of redemption and learning to accept that the people that you've hurt do not owe you their forgiveness just because you have bettered yourself since. Finally, it touches on how grief can change a person and how many small decisions add up to create far greater problems.

Okay, but what's it really about?
An old lady gets isekai'd into the form of an amnesiac pokémon child and is forced to face the challenges that come with it, exasperated by her general stubbornness. All while a grand myth arc surrounding the world's legends begins to take root in the story.
