Unrepentent Giovanni and Rocket fan
Hi, Kasan Soulblade here, thought I'd toss my hat into the ring and see how it goes.

Welcome to my lair of Manga AU and trainer-centric tales. I'm an unrepentant Team Rocket nerd who likes to dig into the sociological and psychological side of the fandom. Specializing in rich character development and playing with whatever amusing "what if threads" catch my attention.

Fair warning, my works are chronically incomplete, and has the occasional technical issue, but if you're willing to overlook those weaknesses,s I try to make up for it by delivering interesting perspectives, complex characters, and rich narrative.

my tales for the curious...

In progress!

AU Manga verse,

set post post heart gold soul silver arch in illex... the location shifts to an eldritch game'verse of Alola as time goes on.

Giovanni had been blighted by Kantos Legends, a punishment for his audacity for trying to bind the Avian Trio in a bid for both world domination and to find his long-lost son.

Now that he's been cursed, he's dying by inches.

Ironic that he finds his "antidote" in the healing paws of another Legend.

But Celibi isn't merciful like the propaganda portrays him to be. When Giovanni's bid to be healed devolves into utter chaos (the legends are taking their cues from the cruel and unusual backwater of archaic religions, dragging innocents into it, and trying to make the punishment both fit and exceed the crime), Giovanni finds himself in a losing fight. First for his freedom, then to free his son.

When the inevitable happens, and he loses, he wakes to find himself in an alien Region. A far flung place called Alola, his team scattered, with only his starter, a de-evolved weedle, at his side.

His orders from the Legends who run this madhouse are obvious: take the journey, earn the badges, repent, earn the privilege to be reunited with his son.

To Hell with that. He'd brought Regions and Governments to kneel at his feet to find his son the first time; he had no qualms about using each Legend as a stepping stone to first save Silver, then himself, then burn this mad Never Never Land to the ground.

A list of prompts, done out of order. I turned a twenty-eight-day challenge into an archive of Giovanni Sakaki's past, and while the timeline bops about, it's settled into a detailed analysis of Giovanni Sakaki and his (eventual) wife Grace nee Evens and their relationship. The original text was a bit of a disaster, so I started rewriting it, running it through Grammarly, and re-releasing it in saner, less scrambled chunks

A Fix:

Summary: Even Mafioso kids had to get an education in subjects beyond Shop. This is a tale that spans one silly incident involving plumbing, a famiglia who couldn't let a bad joke go, and a disgraceful scramble to fix things when more than the pipes go belly up.
There's also corruption, colleges, and skeevy authority figures. But what else can you expect from a Sakaki trying to get by?

Timeline: C, YA

Rank: Teen approaches Mature per subject matter (discussion of sexual assault)

status: Complete

A book

Summary: Forget Meowths and Growlithes, it's pouring Persians and Arcanine. The Sakaki's decide to make a day in of it, and let responsibility hang. Grace shares her photo album, regaling tales of her childhood conquests. Giovanni, bemused, digs through an old family archive to return the favor...

And really should have vetted his sources better. By accident, Grace discovered a catch of medical paperwork, and both of them start to peruse it out of curiosity. What's uncovered is a lost branch of the Sakaki family, deliberately culled by "wiser heads," and doomed by archaic practices.

Timeline: Pm,

Rank: Teen approaches Mature per subject matter (child abuse, pandemic, trauma dumping, medical abuse)

Are you like me in that Scarlet/Violet made you so depressed you didn't want to play for months because you were coping with the events of the ending? No? Well I wrote a fic about it anyway! Actually a whole series, with more parts on the way!

Gakutensoku starts off a few years after the end of the base game, with the sudden return of AI Turo to the present. This does not fix near as much as one may expect, and even causes some new problems.

I take a realistic approach to things like emotional consequences while keeping the world itself fairly light. Juliana reflects how I played the game and my views on both events and characters.

AI Turo is the primary character of the story, and exploring him as an individual away from his creator as he returns to a world that he once believed would always be denied to him has been a rewarding thing to write. I love these sad robots so much!

The story link above is to the first part, Safe Passage. All subsequent parts (there are 10 as of right now but one of them is only 100 words so I stuck it in with the following part's post) are linked at the bottom of the prior one, with prior parts linked at the top of later ones.

Please read Gakutensoku! It means a lot to me emotionally, and I hope it will to you as well.

Hello hello! Thought I'd toss my hat into the ring and offer up the fics I have. As I wrote this, I realise that I've posted a LOT more than I thought I had. Anyway, very happy to engage in review exchanges with people during this Blitz!

One-Shots
2025 Drabbles: Three short drabbles (about 100 words each). Haven't received any reviews on these, so would be interested to hear what people think!

Koki'o ke'o ke'o: one-shot submitted for the Aeons and Avatars contest back in 2023. Explores the origins of the Alola Tapu and just why Tapu Lele is so insane and bloodthirsty. Contains graphic violence, not suitable for younger readers.

2023 Drabbles: Three not-so-short drabbles, this time focusing on the Hoenn region.

To Speak Again: one-shot submitted for the Mischief and Malice contest in 2022. A period piece set in the 1800's that explores the slimy business of a man and his Lucario and their bond of friendship.

The Best Boy: a lighthearted one-shot from the Point of View of a Mightyena and how he overcomes fear and betrayal to fight for true friendship (or, from the perspective of his trainer, clearing up a small misunderstanding and dealing with Mightyena's jealousy).

Under a Bed of Clover: a look at a certain trainer whose Raticate passed away as he thinks back on their friendship.

Carraig na Coinnle: submitted for the Myths and Legends contest back in 2020. A young man and his Grumpig get caught in the mountains in the winter, and find out that one of their childhood tales turns out to be all too true.

Keeping Friends: a one-shot meant as a prequel to Yu-Gi-Oh! and takes inspiration from the "Season Zero" anime/first arc of the manga. Megumi and her friends notice that the new kid at school, Ryou Bakura, has a hard time making friends. Megumi's attempts to bring him into their friend group end more disastrously than she ever could have foreseen.

Chaptered fic:
Drowning: A Team Aqua grunt steadily becomes disillusioned with her team's goals and decides to put a stop to their terrorist activities.

If you've ever heard me talk about my writing, you've likely heard me talk about Drowning. It is my baby that I worked on for 10+ years, and last year, I completed it! 45 chapters long, 250k words. I understand that started a longfic can be daunting for people, so I'm happy with whatever anyone has to offer, whether it's a chapter 1 review of Drowning, or of any of my one-shots!

Still in the throes of creative burnout, but in an effort to try and combat my doldrums, I'll throw my very-Hoenn-shaped hat in the Blitz ring.

There is one new fic added to my library since the past year (a holiday fic). The rest have been around for a few years now. Thanks in advance for checking any of these out.

One Shots:

The Gift of Giving - a feel-good story of the Hoenn League banding together to help one of their own during the busy holiday season

[New!] Hoenn for the Holidays - a spiritual successor of my first holiday fic, The Gift of Giving, with holiday gift exchange warmth, fluff, and shenanigans

❄︎♒︎♏︎ ⧫︎❒︎◆︎⧫︎♒︎ ♓︎⬧︎ □︎◆︎⧫︎ ⧫︎♒︎♏︎❒︎♏︎ - a young man in Unova has a run in with an unexpected visitor to our world (not part of my usual fare, aka not part of my Hoenn-verse fics)

Chapter Fics:

The Long Road - [18 Chapters - Complete] - considered the first fic of my Hoenn-verse collection, this journey-esque fic chronicles the growth of canon Champion Steven Stone from beginning trainer to League pinnacle in a story of adventure, friendship, and discovering the road less traveled. Story is told in non-chronological stand-alone "episodic" chapters. My love letter to the Hoenn region.

Hoenn Short Stories Collection: The Elite - [50 chapters - Complete] - a collection of 50 prompt-inspired short stories (1k words or less, with only a few exceptions) about the small moments surrounding the lives of the Hoenn League trainers. Runs the gamut in terms of genre, from feel good, humor, angst, and more. Mind the prompt at the start of the story to gauge the potential vibe of each.

Final Gambit - [7 Chapters - Complete] - Pokemon Adventures manga inspired AU if the player-character/dex holder didn't exist to save the day when Kyorge is unleashed upon the Hoenn region. Tragedy. Tag warning: Major Character Death

Okay, I missed the first week because of Holiday Bullshit™️ but I am IN THIS GAME NOW.

Hey, you, with the face!

Do you like mysteries? Do you like stories with darker themes? Are you into romance happening amidst really bad shit? Is ANGST something you could read for hours on end? Do you like rambunctious Pokemon? Do fakemon of the 7 deadly sins sound lit as FUCK to you?

If you answered yes to any of those questions, consider checking out my wack-ass fic!

~

White Swan, Black Swan
Kalos is currently in the clutches of a drug epidemic, and Odette Cinq-Mars is a former theater hopeful with a little too much time on her hands and a penchant for reading into things a little deeper than most.

When her best friend Noel uncovers an alarming discrepancy in some public case files regarding the drug epidemic, she begins to do more than just question. When an old flame returns to haunt her, she launches herself into the world of the Shiny Pokemon Trade to uncover some answers. She soon finds she might have been in some deep trouble long before she involved herself…

✔️ This fic currently stands at 26 chapters, one "bonus" chapter, a prologue, and an April Fools chapter, totaling 18 whole chapters. The shortest is about 2.5k and the longest is about 15k (don't roast my poor ass okay), and it is ongoing.

✔️CWs are posted at the beginning of every chapter, but please be warned of the occult themes, implications of past sexual assault, talk of death, talk of Pokemon death, talk of murder, drug use, and strong language.

Review Preferences:
Feel free to tear into this one with some concrit. Let me know how you feel about the pacing, especially on the newer chapters. Not really interested in hearing if you like my concept of fakemon and types, I mainly just want to know if the pacing is off, the characterization is fine, and if the plot is doing what it needs to do. Please see the patch notes for a review of what I have already been critiqued on.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If that interests you, I also have two prequel stories that serve as supplemental reading to the big fic.

~+~

Poison & Pecha Berries
She never dreamed anything like this would happen to her. It wasn't something she could even bring herself to fathom.

In the aftermath of a vicious assault, Odette Cinq-Mars no longer feels she has the will to function. She wants to be okay, but the prospect of feeling whole again feels forever out of reach. When she finds companionship in a mimikyu with a parallel problem, she soon learns that poison comes in all forms, and that accepting life's pecha berries is a necessary skill that comes with time.

✔️
CWs for themes of sexual assault, talk of sexual assault, episodes of trauma, strong language, and discussion of murder.

✔️ While there is only one chapter, this is intended to be a chapter fic.

Review Preferences:
Was a little sweaty about this one considering it deals with a very touchy subject matter and I want to be sure I'm handling it in a realistic and respectful manner. Do the trains of traumatic thought make sense? Do the story beats progress logically and at an okay pace? Is the scenario being told in a way that isn't offensive or in a more "hand-wave" fashion? Of course, grammar checks, characterization critiques, and everything in-between are always welcome, but I'm really focused on ensuring this isn't off-base thematically.

~+~

Of Mon's First Disobedience
Venira is a seraph, a formless Pokemon in "training" to become a legendary. However, her time spent under her creator, Father Arceus, has not been grand. As she slowly learns more about the concept of "emotions," she's come to understand that she wants more for herself.

When she discovers her sole reason for stomaching her abuse is nothing more than a façade, she decides the only thing left to do is disobey every rule that had been set for her, starting with the first, and most cardinal...

Do not ingest blood.

✔️
CWs for themes of abuse, discussion of body horror, body horror, and strong language.

✔️ To be honest, I don't know if this counts as a one-shot or a chapter fic. It was written for the one-shot contest, but I broke it down into chapters upon the rewrite. I'll leave it up to the judges LOL.

Review Preferences:
I did my best to take all the notes I agreed with into account, but I know it's still not perfect. I don't know what kind of crit I'm looking for on this, so, really, I'll take anything. Go nuts. My edits were kind of rushed so feel free to point out any continuity or dialogue issues.

However, if I am to be as politely blunt as I can be, I do not want to hear anything about why you don't like fakemon or why you think it's stupid that the characters here are in human forms. The former is a personal preference, and the latter is my own stylistic choice that you can either take or leave. Simply put, I didn't want to write about Pokemon forms, so I wrote about Pokemon in human forms :)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I also have two one-shots that fall within the same universe but might be a little easier to stomach!

~

The Guzmania Blooms
Bromley Rhys Kahele has planned this night for weeks. He's planned to escape the clutches of his abusive father and negligent mother. Everything is ready. He has it down to a science. What could go wrong?

✔️CW's for strong language, implied child abuse, and talk of child abuse.

✔️Qualifies as a one-shot.

Review Preferences:
You can concrit or you can temperature read, but I'd prefer a temperature read more because I don't think I have any plans to revisit this one for rewrites.

~+~

Storm Surge
A huge storm's rolling in, and Guzma has challenged Odette to surf some of the oncoming waves with him, as is Alola "tradition." However, he's taking a while to get ready, and she's losing her nerve. She doesn't want to let him down. Truthfully, she'd rather impress him somehow.

✔️CWs for strong language, almost-drowning imagery, and a near-death experience.

✔️Qualifies as a one-shot.

Review Preferences:
You can concrit or you can temperature read, but I'd prefer a temperature read more because I don't think I have any plans to revisit this one for rewrites.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you're COMPLETELY Pokemon'd out, I have an "original" for option as well--"original" as in, it's a Pokemon-free southern gothic AU of the White Swan, Black Swan characters.

~

Limbo County, LA
Green witch Odette Cinq-Mars liked the farm life. It was comfortable. It was (usually) safe. Sure, it wasn't anything compared to the possibilities of leaving small town Limbo County and trying her hand at the city-slicking performing arts school she'd just been accepted into, but what would be?

If she left, then her chances at closure would be squashed. She didn't care if it had been 20 years--she needed to know what happened that fateful summer before her fifth birthday. She needed to know why an unidentified Abhorrent was haunting her--and more importantly--protecting her.

With birds showing up dead and flayed beyond recognition, and one of the largest agricultural titans moving in next door, she had every other reason to not leave yet. Despite her grandfather's wishes.

She was going to find out what happened. And keep VIPER off her coven-inherited land. Even if it kills her.

✔️
CWs for animal death, gore, violence, homicide, and occult happenings.

✔️ While there is only one chapter, this is intended to be a chapter fic.

Review Preferences:
Would prefer concrit on this one, as this is intended to be one of my more "serious" pursuits writing-wise and am looking for some serious helpful feedback.

Hey everyone! I'm back again for Week 3 to announce that I've uploaded a brand new oneshot that could be good for Blitz points:

🎭 VICTIM 🎭

In this oneshot, a newly-born yamask unable to recall her past life wanders the woods and meets a friend. Wordcount is about 5 200 words. If you're not really into that premise, though, you can still check out my first post for a few other oneshots I've written.

Thanks!

Hey there everyone! This is my first fanfic : Pokémon Rebirth.

The story follows the main character, Daisuke Serizawa as he and a few others are on the run from a mysterious organization that is out for their blood!
This story is also a little different from your traditional Pokémon fanfic as it features human on Pokémon battles along with abilities for humans.

Content warnings : Character death(Pokémon and human alike), Pokémon abuse and lots and lots of swearing .

Read it here : https://forums.thousandroads.net/threads/pokémon-rebirth.2030/

Read it on Wattpad : https://www.wattpad.com/myworks/403609624-pokmon-rebirth

Read it on AO3 : https://archiveofourown.org/works/75000276

The chapters of this fic are pretty short. Especially the earlier parts. Writing the beginning of the final act as of now.

If anyone feels like thier fics are needing a certain touch, I'm offering my review services... My reviews lean towards fun, irrelevant, snarky, line by lines.

I'm available to pick up tales as I just met my personal goals.

I'm planning on doing one review a day until the end of the blitz. So drop me either a PM or a line in this area if I haven't poked your tale yet and you are interested.

Oh hey look it's one-shot week, a.k.a. the only week where there's any reason for anyone to bother with any of my stuff! 🎉

Not gonna go through everything I've ever posted—just have a poke around in my forum signature* below and knock yourself out—but here are the pieces that are more recent or that I'm most proud of. They're all short and sweet and hopefully easy to breeze on through, so if you're not sure where else to look for one-shots, what've you got to lose by giving them a try?

Storms' Wake (~900w) - Raikou's arrival heralds the destruction of an old, dying forest, and of everything within it. That's just the way the circle turns. A slightly different take on the roles of the legendary beasts, inspired by the legend of the Burned Tower. Very short but hopefully atmospheric.

Stronger (~3100w) - Mewtwo escapes from Cinnabar Island. As the strongest pokémon in existence, flying away to a new home should be trivial. It's not like anything exists out there, in the unfamiliar and turbulent outside world, that's even stronger or more stubborn than it is. Good if you like a bit of angst with a side of desperately struggling to cling to the only identity you've ever known.

Breadcrumb Trail (~1100w) - A little marill goes on an adventure into the woods. You'd think that would be dangerous, perhaps a recipe for getting lost or even snatched by the fae, but don't worry! She's very clever, and knows exactly how those stories go. As long as she can follow her trail back home, everything will be just fine. A cute little PMD-esque fairy tale with a twist. (Technically counts as a "chapter" in an anthology rather than a one-shot, but idk I just enjoy it and it's not nine hundred years old and I figured I'd throw it into the ring.)

* Signature fics caveat: Note that pokédex mini, A Glimpse Across the Threshold and Eternal Gold are not standalone one-shots, but drabble/one-shot anthologies. They probably don't count for bonus points this week, be aware that the first story in Glimpse is under 250 words so it's not worth any points unless you bundle its review with another section, and I'm gonna be honest I have no idea how pokédex mini interacts with Blitz scoring at all. Feel free to read any of these, it's always appreciated, but just know that your points are between you and god the Blitz logistics team and if something doesn't count it's not my fault lmao.

Feedback notes: I'm very much done with all of these and am not really looking for feedback with the intention of implementing any significant changes; I'd rather focus on moving forward than fussing with these further. But it's always lovely to hear what people think either way, so any and all comments are appreciated! And hey, if nothing else, it's all easy reviews for y'all, right? Consider this handful of half points my Blitzmas gift to you.

Hey everyone! I'm looking for a review exchange partner who can review a chapter of my fic (Preferably chapter 3 or any of the other chapters past it.). The chapters are pretty short so they're going to be easier to review. In exchange, I'm willing to review one 2 to 3k word chapter of my review exchange partner's fic.

(You could also read the previous chapters for additional context but you only need to review the chapter you picked. E.g., you decided to review chapter 3 and read the previous two chapters for additional context. However, you still only need to review chapter 3.)

My work is rated Teen and above.

Jumping into Week 4 now that I finally got my 2024 contest one-shot published, I figure I might as well advertise myself! I write PMD-adjacent stuff that's all set in the same (mostly) original setting. My work tends to have high word counts, but if that's not a turn off for you, then everything on this list is currently eligible for the Week 4 bonus:

My main fic...
The Legacy of Light: Sword
Also referred to simply as Sword, this is my main chapter fic, which I've been working on for the past eleven years. If you've ever read anything of mine published in the last decade, this is the origin of it. It is... a lot of things, but right now it's a lowkey, badge-quest style journey fic set in a PMD-adjacent setting where Pokémon live in a land liberated from humans. The story begins with a trio of pokémon brought together by circumstance (a Charmeleon in a hurry to chase his dreams; a Deerling making the most of her misfortune; a Vulpix lost and desperate in an unfamiliar town), who end up deciding to go on a journey together to find themselves. And from there, they learn to work together in a rapidly changing world still reeling from the aftermath of a political revolution, set in the context of a distant industrial revolution that is gradually uprooting the status quo of the setting.

It's difficult to talk about in depth when the story is still in its very early stages, but if you're interested in a (currently) lighthearted, character-driven slowburn to vibe to, with a heavy focus on worldbuilding and politics, and a slightly different take on the PMD genre, then early Sword is the sword for you :P. It says two chapters, but they are each divided into sections that essentially count as their own chapters for review exchange/blitz purposes, so it's actually worth four chapters for blitz!

Everything else on this list is a spinoff of Sword, but they're still self-contained!

The Myriad Investigations of Detective Oscar - Anthology
A short story anthology following a Herdier detective and his Swoobat partner, solving mysteries together in the big city. Very light and comedic in tone. It's only one 12k story at the moment (The Mystery of the Thrice Stolen Pearl).

Searching for a Resolution -10.4k word one-shot
My entry for the 2023 Aeons and Avatars contest. Follows an independent Keldeo grappling with the conflict in ideals between him and the rest of the Swords of Justice, as he's confronted with a problem his own ideals would leave unresolved. It won third place in its flight, and is also the shortest standalone story I have on offer.

Engineering Harmony - 13.9k word one-shot
My entry for the 2024 Magical but Mundane contest. It's about an Audino reluctantly moving into a small town for his job, and learning that there's more to the place than he thinks. It won first place in its flight, and this version is an author's cut complete with new and expanded scenes and a bunch of extra flavor that I couldn't originally fit into the word limit.

It's Cold Outside - 15.2k word one-shot
A fairly old and very long one-shot I wrote for a gift exchange back in 2018. Follows a grumpy young buizel kid who learns about the true meaning of Christmas through the power of its greatest teacher: snowstorm hurt/comfort wump. Not super indicative of my current writing, but there's still stuff to enjoy in there, and I made sure to clean it up a bit before posting to this site.

Alright, here we go again! Let's get into it.

---

🔪 HUNTER, HAUNTED 🔪

What is it? Hunter, Haunted follows the character of Ichiro "Red" Akai, a young serial killer who worships an ancient entity named HELIX. After his latest human sacrifice, however, he discovers the victim has returned from the dead as a yamask. He must hunt her down and destroy her before she has a chance to recover her memories and expose the terrible crime committed against her.

What's the genre? Psychological horror thriller with darkly comedic elements.

How long is it? Around 90k words, completed. It also has an ongoing sequel, The Bringer.

Anything else to know? Yes, the Copperajah in the room. To be perfectly honest, this is Twitch Plays Pokémon fanfiction. It has, however, been written to be readable by a wider audience, and the vast majority of its readers during its lifetime (including its biggest fans!) have had little to no TPP experience. If you find yourself confused by something, though, I'll be glad to explain it, provided it isn't supposed to be a reveal later on.

---

🦑 KRAKEN'S GRASP 🦑
What is it? This is a brand new story I've written across the past few months. If you've heard me talk about "the malamarfic" on Discord, this is the one. It's about a Kalosian Pokémon counselor with psychic powers who gets a new client: an ill-behaving Malamar kept in a Pokémon rehabilitation facility. However, after a sudden change of staff at the facility, a disturbing offer is made to the counselor that she may end up needing to take.

What's the genre? Drama, thriller.

How long is it? Around 18k words, split into six parts. I will upload one chapter of it around every five days during the Blitz.

Anything else to know? I have… qualms about the ending. You'll see when I get there. If you do end up reading that far, I would very much appreciate feedback on it and suggestions for improvement.

👼 COR DAEMONIS 😈

What is it? A non-Pokémon original story about a fantastical yet contemporary version of Heaven and Hell. An angel is exiled from Heaven due to his involvement with a rogue organization and placed in a rehabilitation program for demons in Hell. In the program, he's paired up with an abrasive yet attractive demon that he has to learn to work together with as inmates mysteriously begin to go missing.

What's the genre? Fantasy, romance, mystery, drama.

How long is it? 87k or so thus far. Projected to receive 2-3 more chapters before completion.

Anything else to know? Transparently, this is an AU with many of my characters from Hunter, Haunted, but HH is not required reading for this story. This is written with an even wider audience in mind, so asking them to read a Pokémon fanfic first to understand it would be shooting myself in the foot. These characters are also notably different from their HH counterparts in many ways regardless.

Is that everything? Well… I should also mention that I'm having a pretty tough time with this story. I know how it's supposed to end and I only have two or three chapters to go, but I've lost my motivation for it due to perceiving a lot of hard-to-remedy issues in it. The main reason I'm promoting it in this post is that I'm hoping to maybe get a review that would bring back the spark I used to have for this story.

Then some oneshots:

THE GAPE 🦷

A short non-pokémon horror story. Strongly recommended for people into body horror. Length: 4.0k words.

HUNTRESS, HAUNTED 💅

An April Fools crackfic that's a gender-swapped AU of Hunter, Haunted. This will be way funnier if you've read HH before it, but I think you can also have a fun time with it regardless. Length: 6.3k words.

JUDGMENT ☸️

A heady and tragic oneshot about an Arcean priest being requested to perform a blessing for a death row inmate at a spectral penitentiary (i.e. a prison for ghost Pokémon). Dropping this one here despite it being an older story since I know many, many new users have joined since this one was first uploaded. I'm still very proud of this one, and I think it's a high quality reading experience. Length: 15k words.

That's it for the stories I'm interested in promoting this time around! I have naturally also written many other stories (check my signature, for example) and do appreciate reviews on those as well, but these are the ones that are most relevant right now.

As for review exchanges, I may be interested in them. Approach me using forum PMs or Discord DMs, preferably the latter. I likely won't agree to wordcount exchanges very high, preferring to keep them under 20k.

Thank you for reading, and happy Blitzing!
Posting to say that everything in this except Hunter, Haunted is fair game for Week 4 bonus points!

Heya, wasn't quite first over the line for self-shilling this year, but I figured that it was another chance to trot out an old companion with mine to do some shilling work for me:

Why not review something by ? He's got

Dragonspiral's Children - 90k words of cutesy slice-of-life starring man-sized agamas with wings and families with literal placeholder names. Also, Halloween extras with wizard lizards and anniversary epilogues spent skulking around Dragonspiral Tower.

Context Switch - 22k words of easy reviewing points Game Freak making "Pokémon games" in the Pokémon world and more game beta and programming easter eggs than you can shake a stick at.

Fledglings - 1.2 million and counting words of a little big bird stumbling into a little big Rescue Team in a little big PMD world that's a solid "7.8 - Too Much Water". Also starring a spinoff consisting of 57k words about Cheeriest Cranidos™

[NO AUDIO] - 6300 words of found footage format story following perfectly normal™ gas stations just south of Eterna City and the perfectly normal™ attendant that works there.

Also qualifies for the Week 3 bonus.

Once a Thief - 390k and counting words about three PMD Outlaws getting seriously in over their heads and getting into a cross-region pursuit arc with the strangest Axew they've ever met. Oh, and Xenoblade references.

Hunting Game - 9600 words of a Flygon wholesomely helping her trainer on her day job destroying other Pokémon's lives. Wholesomely in a second-person perspective. /s

Also qualifies for the Week 3 bonus.

Like a Dragon - 55k words of easy reviewing points 15 one-shots about "unusual dragons" doing dragony things. Wholesomely in a second-person perspective, but unironically. Mostly.

Village Pokémon - 42k words of PMD fare with a Hidden Elf Village dynamic and a secret for keener-eyed readers to suss out as they go along. Spread across 6 chapters for 2 fairly easy-to-earn repeat bonuses.

Just West of Paradise - 19k words of easy reviewing points 9 bite-sized chapters showing life in Post Town from Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity as seen through the eyes of its Kecleon shopkeep.

Grounded - 80k and counting words of Hurt/Comfort and Slice of Life following a Salamence's very inauspicious start to Salamencehood and attendant flight challenges while sitting in on an amateur tournament.

Fixed Paths - 12k words of N's Sigilyph telling N his species equivalent of a life story where thar be dragons and memories of ancient civilizations long-buried in the sands. Wholesomely told in a non-standard first person perspective about wholesome events such as the Great Unovan Barbecue. /s

I'm also open to doing review exchanges, too! I will generally prefer doing roughly word-for-word exchanges for reviews and am fairly flexible about what I'll give and receive in return. Thus far, the following users have entered into review exchanges with me either just before or during this Review Blitz:
Also, as has become a bit of a tradition of mine, I'll be making a point of attempting to reciprocally review anyone who drops me a review on my stories even if it takes a while. So if you still needed a reason to check out my fare this year, there's that, too.

Giving a quick and dirty bump to this thing to remind that all of my stories other than Once a Thief qualify for the Week 4 bonus this year. If you see something from my original shill post that catches your fancy, it's not too late to poke your head in!

Beasts Like Us (novella-length)

View attachment 20719

Summary: Glen, an unevolved Machoke and a driver for a Pokemon-run removal company, wants to adopt a Machop to fill the void in his life. The only problem? In order for Glen to officially take him in, he’ll have to introduce him to his boyfriend… who just happens to be human.

I won’t make any bones about this being a Pokemon x human story, but it’s not without a narrative purpose as it’s also the core conflict of this fic, and it’s also a very personal story as it taps into my experiences of being gay, neurodivergent, and not quite feeling like I belong in my own skin.

If you need any more convincing, it’s a deconstruction of that concept, basically exploring the reality of how that relationship would play out even if the two parties are on equal ground, and how throwing a kid in the mix would throw a huge wrench in their whole dynamic. It’s bittersweet, but not without its moments of tenderness and joy.

It’s also short-ish at 30k words long, and 4 chapters (including a bonus chapter).

Gathering Moss (one-shot)

gathering moss moss resized small.png

Summary: Terra is the lone Golurk that manages The Fossil Cafe in their owner’s stead. Even after their latest master’s passing, Terra continues serving humans as they have done for thousands of years. But as their body begins to break down, they start to grapple with their own mortality as the fate of the cafe and the staff who depend on it hangs in the balance.

This story’s a pretty sombre affair, but I guarantee it’s a well-earned one that’s pretty near and dear to my heart in terms of its subject matter. Outside of the contest, I’m curious to see what people on TR think of it; as with a lot of my works, I recommend it to people who enjoy slow-burn fics that focus on Pokémon in the trainerverse rather than humans.

Various one-shots:

Typecast (3k words)

Summary: Garou hopes to get his big acting break as a Lycanroc in the acting world, but when he scares the pants off of his human co-star as the Big, Bad Wolf, he tries to make amends to avoid getting fired.

Nil Admirari (2k words)

Summary: A newly-evolved Hatterene self-isolates in a cave to avoid hurting her team, but when she gets an invite from her trainer to come to his meditation retreat, she musters up the courage to attend and try to find peace.

Godsplintered (2k words)

Summary: A Delphox’s mundane day of translating her species’ writing is shattered when a fragment of Arceus’s crest lands on her manor’s doorstep.
Once again posting in time for Week 4. All my fics are eligible for the theme, including Beasts Like Us, Gathering Moss, and my prompt stories in the thread A Myriad of Mons, which have been reviewed once.

You might also like to peruse any of my Dreamdiver fics, which feature my Hypno therapist diving into the dreams of Pokémon to help with their trauma, while also dealing with personal demons and temptations of his own. None of them have been reviewed this Blitz and all of them are available in my signature, but I’ll post them anyway for posterity.
