I am still trying to figure out the specifics of my Taiwan based region. Like the starters I am slowly getting together but I don't have time to draw them out yet.
The Grass Starter is a Serow but it turns into a Deer Hulk in one of the legends of one Tribe. Kinda like that creature in Princess Mononoke. Thus representing Japan
The Fire Snake turns into a Feathered Serpent which is kinda analogous to another Tribe in Taiwan. Represents the Aboriginal tribes of Taiwan(See why Taiwan people have to resist the CCP and PRC?)
The Water Shrimp turns into a Dragon X Lobster(Lobster in Mandarin is Dragon Prawn) Represents the Chinese since well... dragon.
Huh, haven't heard of a serow before. Grass pokemon based on one of those would be neat.
Feathered serpents are cool, feathered serpent pokemon are cool. This one pokemon hack (I've played so many) has a feathered serpent fakemon I used on my team for a bit. Pokemon Uranium, with the Coatlith line. Although those were grass types, not fire. And not inspired by Taiwan.
Update with any new fakemon ideas you come up with! I like hearing about them.
I also have a Seqalan(Region's name is Seqala) variant head to my thread here
Seqalan Barboach and Whisinhale. Cos as much as I love the Houenian form as the OG earthshattering catfish. The reality is as what Jeremy Wade said, Catfish are the mafias of the fish world sometimes. So I am Barboach in Seqala takes on a new form. In taiwan, and many ecosystems, catfish are like hyenas of the river ecosystem, cleaning up the river and taking bites off other fish occasionally. So it is a Poison Ground type with Water Absorb, similar to Paldean Wooper. Sorta water type muk and makes more sense.
Cos catfish in asia and even in the gourmet world are seen as trash fish(or trash eating fish). I plan to give Whisinhale a speed boost cos some catfishs are not flat and squat like Whiscash some when hunting can really be effective sneaky predators so they would be hydrodynamic.
to post in this thread. Dunno why. Mabe perfectionism striking again. Maybe mood. Maybe IRL. But now I took the time to compose something.
See, I've been working on several Fakémon concepts over the last few months. While I do have now two lines officially released, I thought I'd share some ideas and general principles here.
Hey! How much do you like Pokémon? So much that you've found yourself making up new ones because the 800+ already in existence aren't enough for you? Well hey, same here! This thread goes out to everyone who makes or enjoys fanmade Pokémon. Whether you make new evolutions or forms for older Pokémon, Pokémon of completely new types, anything in-between, or you just want to talk about the fakemon in your favorite fangame, this should be the place for you.
If people give me room enough I won't shut up, y'all'een warned.
In general, the way I approach Fakémon is mixing and blending between three overall sources:
Combinations or crossings between mythology and folklore of various parts of the world where they seem to have "matches" (eg.: ghost ships, or various cultures' concept of a thunder bird)
Taking cool creatures from other franchises (Mon or not) and seeing how well they can be adapted.
"Why don't we have a Dolphin Pokémon yet?" (pre 2022 that is, but yeah it's a design principle)
There's also a hidden factor of "can I get away with it" that I won't comment much further, until more Fakémon are officially released.
Type: Electric Height: 4'11" Weight: 149 lbs Base Stats: 75/85/60/75/80/110 Abilities: Motor Drive / Speed Boost Notable Moves: Thunderbolt, Air Slash, Flamethrower, Dragon Pulse, Tail Glow, Baton Pass Pokedex Entry: It flaps its wings to generate electricity, which it stores in its tail. It channels the stored energy into its legs to run faster.
Let's start things off with my favorite fakemon design! This one came about when I was lamenting the fact that there aren't enough deinonychosaur Pokemon, so I went ahead and made my own. It's designed to be a specially-oriented speed boosting baton passer, since there weren't any of those in the metagame at the time. The stats are low because Tail Glow is broken lol.
But yeah, seriously, sounds like something I would evaluate to request to feature as a Guest Fakémon in Suocéverse (yeah, I have plans for Guest Fakémon). Looks too good and pure to not reference somehow! Also, is this retroactively made to be ancestrally related to Wattrel? o3o
A shy pokemon that will often inflict status and flee rather than fight, they have a capricious attitude that can be difficult for new trainers.
Sparkat –> (lv. 25) Raigar
#015
Sparkat
Spark Pokemon
Electric-type
It collects electrical energy from storms and static. If it’s overcharged, it can release a spark from its antennae.
Learnset: Thundershock, Growl, Quick Attack, Thunder Wave, Thief, Double Team
#016
Raigar
Jester Pokemon
Electric/Poison-type
It loves to pull pranks and joke around, but its sense of humor is lost on other pokemon.
Base Stats: (70/100/80/60/70/100) 480
Ability: Prankster / Hidden: Quick Feet
Learnset: Slash, Spark, Thunderbolt, Thunder Fang, Poison Fang, Chime, Switcheroo, Hone Claws, Night Slash, Clown Around, Copycat, Encore
Moriko has a Raigar, Tarahn, in my fanfic Gods and Demons.
Also adoptable! And IMO a pretty good concept. And a good alternative for when you need a Pikachu but you don't want Pikachu. Also, it'd be interesting to see their relationship to Shinx, Kotora et all as various Electric type predator mons.

I want to know about this region, too. But that's for later. I'm just gonna say the concept behind this and the flat out admission that catrfish are the mafias of the fish world, yeah, we lost quite the opportunity in canon.
Anyway, I wanted to mostly opinionate for now on how much I like that people design Fakémon and are open to the concept. I'll be working later on a post detailing some of mine, right now I have (ugghhhhh) work...
Fire snake looks rad. Pretty convincing design, if I say so myself. Also, Barboach and Whiscash are underrated and I'd love to see them get a breath of life through regional forms. I had a friend whose favorite pokemon was Whiscash (she was a fan of catfish).
Fun names, too! Coming up with names is one of the best part of designing fakemon. Also happens to be something I'm not very good at, haha.
Ok I am currently stuck at the Grass Waifa and Grass Femme Fatale as well as the local rt 1 rodent names
The Grass Waifa of the Seqala region is based on the Sweet Potato 地瓜 which Taiwan entire island is in the shape of.
The Grass Femme Fatale is like how Diglett got a convergent called Wiglett. It looks like a sweet potato or yam but it is called the Witch's yam 姑婆竽 which eating would be fatal.
The route 1 rodent aside from Rattata would have an actual mole shrew which is eyeless but have iron deposits on their teeth(that is what we might add Steel)
It's nice! Was expecting something a little more red, since it's a fire type, but the current palette works too. Looks convincing as a viper, at least.
Eyeless Route 1 rodent is a cool idea. Sweet potato for a grass type is something I haven't seen before. When you say femme fatale, do you mean one of those 'humanoid female' Pokemon Gamefreak seems to love coming up with recently, à la Tsarenna and Hisuian Lilligant? Wouldn't be out of place. A humanoid sweet potato is hilarious to think about.

Ok the sweet potato one might not be a waifu. But its stage 1 has a similar look to the stage 1 of the femma fatale. You can guess which one is ends up Grass/Ground which one ends up Grass Poison

Oh, so they're two lines that look similar but are actually unrelated? At first I thought one evolved from another. But it makes sense to have two sweet potato lines where one is a genuinely sweet potato and the other is an EVIL sweet potato, with poison and everything. Fun idea!
Hi, I am currently new to making Pokemon region with monsters and I wish I got into it earlier. I was inspired watching youtube channels like Pragamagiks, Truegreen 7 and even the famous Birdkeeper toby. I think since my home country of Singapore is too SMALL. I think I wish to feature a...

I will be renaming my thread as Pokemon Azure and Jade.
Acuthiss = Acutus + Hiss - Fire
The Flame Viper Pokemon
Shy and rarely seen, these snakes live in the understory of the forest. They do not rely on the sun for heat and can generate its own flames which it fans with its tail.
Concept for one of the Box Art legends of Pokemon Azure and Jade
A mythical Salmon that has similarities to Kyogre but also can beat Kyogre since it can use electric moves..
Using a aboriginal canoe with the upturned tips as reference to the Salmon's hook beak.
