Hi Everyone. This place will keep track of my story ideas, outlines, notes, and one-shots. I think making them public will help with accountability and with remembering what's happening. Also, it's kinda neat taking a look behind the veil at how someone organizes themselves. Please feel free to provide any feedback or comments!

The Pokemon Grand Prix (TPGP) Action / Racing
Summary: It’s a racing tournament with Pokemon involved at every step!

I started this idea by attaching " with Pokemon" to a bunch of sports I have no experience with. Some of the runner up ideas I had included "ice hockey with Pokemon" and "quidditch with Pokemon." There's a lot of potential in these ideas but what really got my attention was when I landed on "racing with Pokemon." That made me think of the anime movie Redline (highly recommend) and the pieces started coming together. Who doesn't like a story about a bunch of underdogs overcoming their weaknesses by working together? With explosions, danger, sabotage, and high stakes thrown in for good measure.

Let Them Rest (LTR) Horror / Mystery
Summary: Most ghost Pokemon aren’t really the dead getting a second chance or coming back. But some are. And when their hold on this world starts to waver, everything around them starts to get dangerous. Thankfully, there is a group of trainers and Pokemon who specialize in pacifying these second deaths. As long as everything goes well, their work goes unnoticed. Their latest recruit is about to learn what it means to dive into the deep end.

This idea began from a simple question: what does being a ghost type mean? A lot of the Pokedex entries seem like superstition or exaggeration, but the implications of even a few being true made me curious to explore more. This story will take deal with that with a Horror lens to it because sometimes, the implication demands nothing less.

The Pokemon Grand Prix (TPGP)
It’s a racing tournament with Pokemon involved at every step!
  • (rough) Genres: Action / Sports
  • Physical story
    • Protagonist winning races until they qualify for the Pokemon Grand Prix [1]
    • The region’s [2] bad-guy-team [3] gets in the way
    • Rivalry [4]?
  • Emotional story
    • Protagonist starts by equating life's meaning to victory. Ends by realizing what they care most about is helping their team grow, helping them become the best ‘mons they can be.
  • Themes
    • ??? Will add as they become clearer
  • Potential Team (in no particular order)
    • Human - Coach / Co-Pilot
      • Has some experience in Pokemon racing
      • May need to get an actual mentor figure in there to be the Coach
    • Zigzagoon - Pilot
      • Fast boi
    • Machop - Mechanic
      • Doesn’t want to punch. Wants to build!
    • Magnemite - Default Engine Power
      • Wants to chill and get attention. Powering engine is win-win
    • Gulpin & Ralts - Chemists
      • Ralts: “Gulpin! We gotta cook! Gulpin!”
      • Gulping: “Yes Mr. Ralts…”
      • They synthesize explosive gasses for emergency boosts, but don’t like each other much
[1] The Pokemon Grand Prix (PGP) will be the first event of its kind! A tournament that incorporates pokemon, their moves, and futuristic cars into heart-pounding races. A lot of things will be new, giving criminal elements the opportunity to muscle in.

[2] The region will be new. It’ll have the standard gym circuit, elite four, and champion but those won’t be the focus of the story. This region will be the first to host a pokemon racing tournament.

[3] The region’s criminal organization will focus on fixing races (through threats, violence, etc.) to make money. Not sure what their endgame is yet. Maybe they won’t have something complex.

[4] I picture the rival as someone close to the protagonist who grew disillusioned with slow growth / hard work and began taking riskier and riskier gambles. Maybe they dragged the Protagonist into something dangerous and after they both got hurt, the Protagonist and the Rival had a falling out. Now, the Rival wants to win the tournament through any means.

Let Them Rest (LTR)
Most ghost Pokemon aren’t really the dead getting a second chance or coming back. But some are. And when their hold on this world starts to waver, everything around them starts to get dangerous. Thankfully, there is a group [3] of trainers and Pokemon who specialize in pacifying these second deaths. As long as everything goes well, their work goes unnoticed [5]. Their latest recruit is about to learn what it means to dive into the deep end.
  • (rough) Genres: Horror / Mystery
  • Physical Story
    • Like an episodic story, the Protagonist solves independent cases. [1]
    • Throughout these cases, a greater mystery [2] is revealed: Why is there a sudden rise in second deaths? What’s causing it and how do we stop it?
  • Emotional Story
    • Protagonist learns to respect themselves. Starts out with a low opinion of their self-worth. Ends by believing they have a set of skills that can help make the world around them a better place.
  • Themes:
    • ??? Will add as they become clearer
  • Potential Team (in no particular order)
    • Human - Weak Psychic
      • Can feel (real) ghosts but not see them
    • ??? Still thinking about the team.
      • A loyal canine companion. A dark type. A normal type. Definitely a fighting type for that punching-evil / I-cast-fist trope. No psychic though, the Protagonist has a fear of them [5]
[1] I picture each case as a scary folk story surrounding a miniature mystery. Like, terrible new rumors begin to appear somewhere, the Protagonist investirages, identifies what Pokemon is causing the issue, and resolves any lingering issues the Pokemon had to lay them to rest. There’s a lot of conflict but not always physical or violent. The Protagonist will always find themselves at a disadvantage somehow.

[2] No idea what this could be at the moment. Might be fun to organically let it happen.

[3] I want to make this group appear to be the Region’s [4] criminal organization when they actually aren’t. At least, not at this point in time. Plot twist? Also, it needs a name that could be villainous and definitely shadowy. Team Rest? Last Light?

[4] Not sure what region to use. May take place all around the Pokemon world.

[5] Plot point: Ghost energy doesn’t affect the regular population much considering that (in my headcanon) humans are Normal type with the occasional secondary typing. Some people lose their Normal type as they “absorb” other types or are born without it due to funky family lines. The protagonist is part of the former due to an accident with a wild Psychic pokemon.

This is fun! You definitely do more detailed planning than I do, heh. Either of these could make for solid fics, I think. I have a particular affinity for ghost pokémon, so "Let Them Rest" is of more immediate interest to me, heh. The premise is reminding me of Hospice!

I like how you've outlined the cast members for the racing one, though. Sounds like a fun batch of characters!
