Mia tilted her head the other way. "I thought you were from one of the universes without humans."

    Destiny Colosseum ~ Training Rooms

"You can be careful without being afraid," Mia said, cocking her head. "You just need to know when to be."

    Destiny Colosseum ~ Training Rooms

Mia looked blankly at him. "I don't want things that would mean I can't do the things I want. I'll avoid those things whether I'm afraid or not." She paused for a moment before continuing. "Dave thinks that's probably just how Scyther work in our universe. They're apex predators who can fly...

    Destiny Colosseum ~ Training Rooms

"I'm not afraid of anything," Mia said. "There are things I don't want to happen. But I'm not afraid."

    Destiny Colosseum ~ Training Rooms

Mia's eyes narrowed as she thought about it. "Dave wasn't there. He heard about it later from Jack. He just has memories of imagining it."

    Destiny Colosseum ~ Training Rooms

"The other me was killed," Mia said. "It only took one shot. That's why this body is better."

    Destiny Colosseum ~ Training Rooms

"Most people there don't like fighting except when Pokémon do it," Mia said. "They have laws about it. Dave says it's because humans are easily killed or permanently injured. I think it's also because they're not very good at it, unless they have guns."

    Destiny Colosseum ~ Training Rooms

The Substitute tore in half, and Mia landed, satisfied. "In my world all Pokémon are battlehearts," she said after a moment. "Humans aren't. I think we all were but most of the others pretended they weren't."

    Destiny Colosseum ~ Training Rooms

Mia shrugged. "Breaker couldn't fix the parasite either. Maybe going into your brain is better." Maybe people should go into Dave's brain and remove whatever it was that was making him weird. He probably didn't want her to tell Owen that either. Mia built speed again, zooming back and forth...

    Destiny Colosseum ~ Training Rooms

Mia landed, keeping a displeased eye on the Substitute. "Sometimes I think about eating people but I don't," she said. "I like thinking it but actually doing it wouldn't be worth it. So I don't. It can't make me do anything." She cocked her head. "Does the battle mode activate when you don't...

    Destiny Colosseum ~ Training Rooms

Aggressive? Dave was mostly just a bit weird and then increasingly mopey when he was drunk. Was that something he didn't want her to talk to other people about? "If it wears off, then it's better if you just don't use it. You can still fight and be yourself. You even have Perceive. You don't...

    Destiny Colosseum ~ Training Rooms

Mia frowned at being dodged, eyes narrowing to glowing green slits. "But if it changes what you want, you'd be just as happy if you just stayed like that and kept fighting." She took off the ground, wings buzzing to build up speed, circling around Wishkeeper.

    Destiny Colosseum ~ Training Rooms

Mia walked in Wishkeeper's direction but kept her eyes on Owen, frowning. "So it made it so you couldn't make decisions anymore?" Without warning, she lunged towards Wishkeeper and the Substitute again.

    Destiny Colosseum ~ Training Rooms

Modifications? That was interesting. "Did they change you to be better at fighting?"
  16. Dragonfree

    Destiny Colosseum ~ Training Rooms

"I do that too," Mia said. "Is that a battleheart thing in your world?"
  17. Dragonfree

    Destiny Colosseum ~ Training Rooms

Mia tilted her head, looking blankly at him. "What's wrong with how your mind works?"

    Destiny Colosseum ~ Training Rooms

So not being a battleheart was the mutation. That was interesting. Pokémon losing the drive to battle if they didn't need it anymore would make sense. "The other me wasn't allowed to do much fighting," Mia said. "My parents and Dave said I couldn't fight Pokémon because I didn't have Pokémon...

    Destiny Colosseum ~ Training Rooms

Mia cocked her head, pausing. "That's weird. Is it like a genetic mutation?" She took aim at the Substitute again, zigzagging from side to side as she approached.

    Destiny Colosseum ~ Training Rooms

Mia darted towards the Substitute, feinting to the left, then lunging to hit on the right as Wishkeeper moved to dodge her. "I like fighting. Dave says it makes Pokémon brains release a lot of endorphins. Shades probably don't have endorphins or normal body chemistry, but the other me did, so I...
