While nothing more than a hastily repurposed training room, this large, expansive alcove of Marowak Dojo's underground chambers doubled as a shelter for Diyem's heroes while Magikarp approached, in addition to their spot to relax in peace. Water, basic raw foods like berries and gummis, and other amenities were stacked in the corner of the room, while piles of sanitized grass beds and empty bags of soft fabric were piled in another for setting up for any body type.

    <><><>
"And here we are," Soda introduced Cabot and Owen to the room, motioning around.

"Wow..." Owen trotted forward, tail flame a little brighter. "It's so big! This was all made underground?"

"That's Ground for ya," Soda said. "Marowak must've really gone all-out with his training chambers. This place can handle a lot, so don't worry about going all-out. Just don't mess with the food supplies while roughhousing."

Owen looked around a little longer, but then noticed that Soda had disappeared. He was already leaving. "Um--Soda? Weren't you going to give us a tour or something?"

    "Yeah, just did. See ya."

The eager Charmander led the way to the private quarters which, for some, was the first time. "Beds are there, water's there, but all the food is right here! Oh! And look!" Owen pulled out a large pot and some fire-making material. "We can even set up a little campfire to do the cooking! And we've even got a fire starter, too." He didn't point at anything in particular then; he was likely referring to himself.

He wasn't usually the one to do the cooking, because a lot of it seemed foreign to him... but he could at least try to make something basic! "Now, to find some ingredients..."

There were a lot of bags to look through, and not all of them were properly labeled.

Nip's expression suddenly soured. Based on the changes in expression for the other pokemon around him, he suspected that they, too had gotten the message from Diyem. Despite his desire for food, as well as his distrust for Diyem, fear that someone might mess up his second chance drove him to take action.

"Hold that thought," He called towards Owen before sprinting out of the room.

"It's alright. So this Expedition Society is kinda like a Rescue Guild then? Except they spend more time creating maps than rescuing Pokémon from Mystery Dungeons?" Cabot asked, before pausing in realization. "Wait, does your world have Mystery Dungeons?"

The Cranidos briefly wondered for a moment how many of the people Diyem had summoned would even know what Mystery Dungeons are.

"Anyway, my world only has Pokémon in it is as well, or at least that's how things are nowadays," he explained. "Long ago humans lived in my world as well, but that changed when a group of evil Pokémon killed most of the gods except for Arceus. The world almost ended as a result, and because of it all the humans disappeared and there's now Mystery Dungeons everywhere. I grew up in the only part of the world that's still habitable."

Cabot trailed off as he noticed Starr entering the room.

"Oh hey there! We have plenty of roasted gummis here that you can try!"

Nip thought Dave had the right idea, going back to bed and resting while they waited for the inevitable battle. With most of the party preoccupied elsewhere, perhaps he could get just a bit more shut-eye.

And yet, the constant tremors and the ever-looming threat made it impossible to relax. So after only a few minutes spent tossing and turning, he sat back up, brushing bits of grass out of his fur.

The days passed in a tired haze.

Maple and the others weren't kidding about how much that battle had taken out from them, and even Diyem was surprised at the fatigue that had wracked their systems. For several days, the last of the adrenaline finally wearing off, most of the team could barely do anything past eat, stumble around, and sleep. Truffle had taken to carrying the smaller Pokemon of the team around instead, insisting that they not strain themselves as he helped feed them, wash them, and even tucked them in to bed at night.

He was not the only one. Maple had pulled Necrozma aside in particular to offer 'light therapy,' whatever that was. In the meantime, Potluck took up the liberty of guarding the living quarters from any intruders, as the dojo was back in business again. They had seen Marowak, who ran the place; he was more than happy to offer the main room as a living space for the team until better arrangements were found. The Guild was supplementing his property and income anyway, considering how useful the dojo was for explorers. Ahh, to be helping world-savers again... It was nostalgic, in a way.

Rapidly, Treasure Town rebuilt itself. Xatu returned to his tent, as did the Kecleon brothers, who mourned the destruction of their buildings but didn't seem to say much else about it to others. Slowly, all the other facilities filled themselves in, and the store owner that Zane had broken into spread the word all the way to the Guild. One way or another, the Guild paid for the damages, but in exchange, Zane was ordered--once he recovered from the fight--to take part in the rebuilding efforts in the marketplace.

That hazy creature, oddly enough, never appeared ever since that first day. It was odd. Still, best not to count their blessings.

They had been bedridden for nearly a whole week. Surf had brought Turf back home, though among the team, nobody saw them since they'd recovered. They only knew that Turf's condition was steadily worsening, but no other changes were being reported, for better or worse.

Interestingly, it seemed that Diyem had sent the team into this world at the very end of summer. Outside, the first few leaves yellowed in anticipation of autumn, the pale greens of Treasure Town slowly growing paler. With the coloring of the leaves came everyone's strength. they weren't at their peak just yet, but mundane activities were no longer difficult.

Soda stepped into the living quarters and clicked his claws loudly to get everyone's attention. "Hey!" Soda said. "Maple says she's glad you guys are feeling better. If anybody's interested, we're gonna set up for some lunch later, reserved a party table for it at some fancy dine-in spot at the marketplace. Show up or don't, see you then."

And that was all. Soda turned around, waved halfheartedly, and disappeared.

Being a dragon was great. Her sense of smell was so much better than it had been, she felt powerful, and this body was at least built to be blind. Cuicatl hardly even missed her gift since she spoke the same language as everyone else. Sure, she was here to save the world, but she was no hero. That sort of work could be left to more... heroic... people while she napped, explored, and waited to tackle the next threat. If this kept going forever... she could live with that. If not, at least she had fully enjoyed her time as a dragon.

Or tried to. Being a dragon was great. But it didn't fix everything.

She woke up from her nap abruptly. The contents of her nightmare were already leaving her, but she could remember the voice. Her brother's voice. Pleading with her. Was it... was it even fair to enjoy herself when he was still...

She shook her head and stood up, prepared to face the day or night or whatever time it was.

Cuicatl was a dragon and being a dragon was great.

With a single training dummy set up across from him, Nip took a deep breath and flexed his claws. There was a slight glint that refracted in his forehead gem, then he darted forward, flanking the training dummy with speed that seemed almost unnatural. Frost formed on his fur, then he swung his arms forward, flinging two sets of ice shards at the dummy. They made contact.

He stopped, panting for air as he looked the dummy over, and gnashed his teeth in frustration. No, it wasn't fast enough. He had to go faster.

The encounter with Darkwhite was still weighing heavily on his mind. Not just because of her unusual appearance, but in particular because of her words. Though the name "Manaphy" was unfamiliar to him, he recognized Darkrai and Cressellia. Gods. This strange force had captured gods. How in Yveltal's name were they supposed to stop something that could do that?

He sank to the ground, still recovering from his latest round of training. After the fight with the magikarp, he was starting to look on the bright side of things. But now? Once again he wondered if Diyem was setting them up for failure.

Seyka thought long and hard. Would he truly be more aerodynamic if he filed the horn off the top of his head?

Interrupting this thought was the wall, which the Skarmory crashed right into, falling backwards.

"You're right," Seyka said to no one. "If I got rid of this thing, then maybe I would be able to feel the air currents. I wouldn't have to use my eyes at all!"

"Oooh, but what does it matter? I can't help Boxy like that..." Seyka stopped, frowning. "Ah, I still don't know anyone's names. I keep forgetting to ask. Oops."

Bahamut floated into the living quarters and located beds to place Astrid and Curio. He also dropped Icepix. Unfortunately, Owen wasn't around to handle coffee-brewing duty. Pity.

With the job done, he slithered into the corner of the room and coiled around himself.

It had been a few days of recovery for Owen, and even though he had felt just fine by the next day, Chimecho had insisted he stay for one extra day to make sure he was properly recovered. But now, after spending time with Brisa and lamenting their lack of being able to battle during that down time, he was finally able to go out and about.

The first thing he intended to try? Find out what Radiant powers had manifested within him.

Just be careful, Diyem said. You will listen to me while you are doing this. I've had enough close calls with Radiance as it is.

Right, because you're worried about the Dark Matter stuff, right?
Owen asked, looking up. How many people have you told about that so far?

A few. I'm... trying to rally up enough support before I make the full announcement.

    Right...
It had been a small shock for Owen, though he did have a feeling. After all, he had spent the most time with Diyem prior to this whole thing, hanging around with him at Veritas City. Those memories were returning to him, at least a little. And during all those times, Diyem had showed his darker powers, either on accident or otherwise. It only made sense after a while.

Still, Diyem was a good ball of evil, right?

"Okay," Owen said. "Time to start... Radiant-ing..."

...I trust that is everyone, Diyem said. Or at least, everyone who intends to arrive. I shall start now. If anybody else misses this, then please approach them privately and explain what I am going to explain to you now. Is that clear? This must stay between us and not go to Maple or anybody else. It will risk the mission.

"Right..." Owen nodded. "Some of us already know a bit, right?"

Some of you know some of it. But now that the plan has become... something unexpected, there is more I must tell you. This mission is on a need-to-know basis... and you now need to know.

There is no doubt in my mind that a Dark Matter of some sort is involved in what is happening to Cibus. I know this because the powers, while different, are similar and reminiscent of the darkness I am familiar with.

In an effort to not look too suspicious, the members of Diyem's team decided to stagger their exits from the dojo one at a time, sometimes in pairs if they were commonly seen together. Eventually, only a reasonable number of them remained, and that was around the time that Soda came walking in with the hulking Snorlax, Flesh, behind him. It was a miracle how he fit through the doors, but apparently the dojo's halls were accommodating for someone of his... stature. But only just barely.

"Yo," Soda called. "Came with some news. Two pieces of news and a this, actually." He gestured behind him, where something hovered just by Flesh's side--he was too big to go past until they'd gone through the halls. It was a Porygon-Z, twitching every now and then, making various beeps and buzzes.

Curio wandered around for a bit to gather her thoughts after her meeting with Brisa. Sure, it was lovely seeing her, and it was nice to get some closure on that incident before, but it left her feeling... hollow, for whatever reason. Jesse's thoughts about Brisa still echoed in her mind, and how Curio had basically said the same things to her. She wasn't going to beat herself up over that when it was a mutual misunderstanding, but when she thought about her own dad...

Was he really as bad as Curio made him out to be?

She knew the answer was yes, absolutely. Using her as soccer practise was the last straw. But compared to Brisa, Curio had it much easier. He even said he loved her over the phone. He never thought of her as a violent animal. But that was different, and-- dammit.

She had better things to do than think about deadbeat dads all day. And besides, in her life, her dad was basically a fart in a windstorm. But that was also the problem. No, for realsies, enough.

Curio found her way to the dojo, remembering the damage Brisa's explosion did to it a while back. Aside from a few loose planks, it looked as good as new. She entered the living quarters and nosed around to see who was there.

Brisa stood in the middle of the living quarters staring around herself at the place that most of the team had sheltered each night for nearly a month. She already had her possessions gathered—they were few in number, and she needed only a small saddlebag to carry what wouldn't fit in her satchel—and in theory, she was ready to go. But she wasn't ready to go.

This wasn't where she'd slept. She'd taken a bed in the hidden quarters, and then spent half her nights on the dojo roof beneath the stars anyway, because a handful of roommates was still so many more than she was used to. For a month, she'd felt pressed-in, surrounded. Now, after her time in that cave and knowing she had to leave, she didn't want to leave. She wished... that she'd been a different person this entire month. Someone who could have comfortably made her bed surrounded by the rest of the posse, been an easy friend to them.

Violent animal or not, she hadn't reached out the way she ought to. Maybe she'd do better in Destiny Village. She hoped so.
