Intro Thread

Hi Everyone. Long time fanfic reader and new writer here! I recently left my job to finish a degree but quickly realized I needed something fun to fill out my time. I spent a few days thinking about it, trying old hobbies out, and sorta just existing. Nothing really clicked, you know? That is, until I stumbled on a post on /r/FanFiction about the Pokemon fandom. Have you guys ever had that floaty feeling in your stomach that makes you think, "this is it"? I was waffling on picking up writing again, but a peek at the discord and forum had me convinced. I should give it a try :)

I don't have anything concrete planned at this moment, so I'll take a few days to sus out a little project to start out with.

If you like the zookeeper/pokémon biology aspect of Borne of Caution, then you might enjoy The Alola Pokédex! Perhaps you're already familiar with that one. Persephone's journeyfic Broken Things is also good if you enjoy problems not disappearing and emotions being felt! Most of the Isekai fics here currently are PMD flavored, but if you'd be interested in trying that out, you might enjoy a darker take on the genre like Rebirth.

Hello, I am called Smugraptor as it's a name that I basically use for a variety of forums for the past 12 years or so now. Ironically it is actually me taking Snivy's Japanese name, Smugleaf, and gently changing it to be more prehistoric based.

I also enjoy such stories as Borne of Caution, but also been enjoying UnderseaWing's Pokemon mythos themed stories lately. Been trying to figure out how to get my fanfiction ideas onto paper, but I can never really figure how to get the words from my brain out onto the keyboard. I guess only time will tell if I am able to those ideas released to the world.

Howdy Everybody. Kinda just realized I never actually introduced myself on the forums themselves.

My name is UnderSeaWings, a name I chose when I first signed up for SpaceBattles...several years ago. I have been writing Pokémon fan fiction for two years now, mostly a series of snippets that depict what I imagine animal documentaries in the Pokémon world to look like (this case specifically revolves around the vast majority of Pokémon being animal-analogues with just a few species being Sapient level). I actually haven't posted any of those over here as of yet. Recently, I kinda delved into writing up short stories and myths for the Pokémon world cause I wanted to explore my writing skills a bit, the stories of which have been posted here (Pokemon Mythos & Lore). I have a current project that is a more typical story, but I haven't posted that one anywhere yet.

Of the stories here on Thousand Roads; I have read zoru's 'Little Leavanny in the Big City', Persphone's 'Alolan PokeDex', Extension_Driver's 'Shifted Earth (Safety Guide)', Iveechan's 'Fight of Flight', Negrek's In Ghostly Fashion, and windskull's 'Place We Call Home'. I have really liked each one. :)

Likes: Animals, Documentaries, Hiking, Reading, Sketching, etc. I am always happy to learn something new.

Heya folks! I'm StolenMadWolf. I'm a twenty-five year old writer from the UK. I've been writing on and off on different projects for the last six or so years, namely an attempt to get my first novel released proper! Sadly, said novel is so big that unless I want to do a long rewrite, I'll need to self publish and I just don't have the income for an editing service, so I'm starting to write through a novella to get my foot in the door! Either way, I hope to get a writing career started, and pair that with art and acting perhaps!

As for my connection with Pokemon, you could say I've been a fan of Pokemon since I was born, as I was born on the same year Pokemon came out. I have been on and off in those years, namely from 'growing up' so to speak. First time I just faded away from it, second time I got on the Gen IV bandwagon and then just felt... too old to play it. Then I came back permenantly after going on a nostalgia trip after trying Go by getting a 3DS. Now I hope to try and get the bulk of the other games complete before the service goes down.

Whilst I am burying myself in creative writing and art endevours, I do a Pokemon Fan-fic myself! Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Guardians of Balance is a PMD story set after the events of the original games in the PMD equivilent of the Age of Discovery, following the story of a human - turned - Scorbunny. Naturally, stuff is already going wrong when he shows up! That, and I have some pretty big ideas for the GoB-setting, so I hope to share this as I go along! GoB has been up on a few other forums including Bulbagarden and Serebii (and as it's been mentioned here as well, Spacebattles and Sufficent Velocity too), as well as FFN and AO3, so I'll be working to get GoB chapters brought onto here as soon as I can! I'm also on Discord too in a few communities.

As for passions and real life stuff, well, I'm currently bouncing around with careers whilst trying to get into creative work. But I love doing writing, art, acting, outdoor hobbies and motorbiking. Oh, and gaming.

Hello! You can call me Fuda. Sounds cool to me and I'm more comfortable with that.

I'm your average Pokémon fan, having officially started with X. My favorite Pokémon overall is Rowlet, hence my avatar pic having one. I love birds so much; the tiny ones are cute little balls and the bigger ones are majestic, especially when they fly.

I actually discovered this sight after becoming interested in Chibi-Pika's art of some sorta fusion of Dialga, Palkia and Giratina. The moment I knew you guys did big RP projects, I wanted to take part in one. I was pretty letdown by having arriving really late after Blacklight ended, but I still wanna know if something big like that will come soon. I have many unrestrained character ideas in my head waiting to come to life, and I will appreciate any beta readers helping me. Yeah, I kinda forgot to mention that I also write fanfic in Google Docs. Nothing's been published yet.

Oh, and I hope no one minds this, but I consider myself a closet furry. Or "avian", since I'm more into birds, right? So I'd have an inclination of sorts towards anthropomorphic Pokémon. Hope that doesn't become a problem for all of us here.

Other things I like are Team Fortress 2, League of Legends, Clash Royale, Dragon Ball, Rivals of Aether and crossovers in general.

Various people have plans for large-scale RPs to take place in the future, but unfortunately there's no concrete timeline for them at the moment. As Bench mentioned, we will be running smaller RPs in the interim, including one that will be starting up in a couple of weeks as part of our anniversary event!

Always happy to see another bird enjoyer around. Rowlet's an excellent choice of favorite! Hope you enjoy your stay, although it is a bummer that you missed out on Blacklight.

I’ve loved all things Pokémon since I was very young, mainly the DS era games — because they are top notch —. My favourite Pokémon are Cyndaquil and Skitty, and, if I had to choose, I would say Pokemon Explorers of Time is my all-time favourite videogame.

I love animals, I have eight dogs and a cat, and I'm kind of a film/music snob. I'm very passionate about surfing and the ocean as a whole, and I enjoy discussing true crime, speculative evolution and hard science fiction, art and fashion, and environmentalism.

What kind of fanfiction do you like to write?

Hey, thanks! Right now I only have one work, but I'm seven chapters in and I'm pretty hooked.
I really like the idea of classic trainer jounreyfics, as this franchise is very comforting to me, and it has been a personal form of escapism. I've been writing a light-hearted adventure journeyfic through Johto with a mostly oc cast. I enjoy bringing in aspects of both the videogames and the Anime, including regions like Fiore and Ransei. Even though it is a positive fic, I also like to include several aspects of Pokémon theology, as massive gods controlling time and space are just too neat.

Pokémon Conquest is a very underrated game! A megacontinent akin Pangea in the shape of Arceus? Man do I hope it gets adressed in the Anime or future games someday, it is such a cool premise.

Should introduce myself at some point, so here goes: Hey, I'm Poivron! I got into Pokemon when I was a kid and never got out. I've been hanging around the fandom since then, reading stories and sometimes trying to write them. Haven't finished much, I'm hoping to do more, but we'll see.

Favorite type: ghost, favorite pokemon: litwick, favorite region: Sinnoh or Hoenn, but original regions and fakemon are also cool. I like weird fiction and weird settings. I'm also a big fan of forum quests and interactive stories, and I want to run one someday. Maybe soon?
