Starr was barely standing. Wishkeeper loomed over her, surrounded by shields. He was near-impervious.

Nah. Not dealing with that.

Brisa had put herself out in the open taking down all those Protect shields Starr had put up for that exact purpose. Brisa--the one who'd wanted a showdown between the two of them in the first place. How appropriate.

"I'm not winning this, but I'm taking you down with me," Starr growled, the slightest trace of a smirk crossing her face.

Brisa gasped for air, exhausted after keeping up a ferocious pace of attacks to get through so many shield barriers and wear down her opponents' evasiveness. It sure had been one of the toughest fights of her life—the sort of fight she'd never get back home. The sort she was born for. Fighting Starr? That was worth coming to Cibus for alone, worth everything else that had happened. Not a doubt.

"I'd expect no less!" she cried back. "Come 'n' take me, Starr!"

She charged towards her friend, knowing that the imminent clash would knock both of them out for sure.

She couldn't think of a better way for a fight to end.

Brisa was strong, her attacks hurt like hell, and they were hard to dodge. But Starr did have one advantage--she was faster. And she'd refused to let go of that advantage in the slightest throughout the entire fight. By the time sparks had lit up across Brisa's mane, Starr's flames had already blazed into full force, fed by the sunlight and the blazing aura keeping her going. Way the hell more power than she needed.

And as she struck Brisa with full force and felt the shock wave rebound onto herself, her last thought was how it was completely pointless and didn't really accomplish anything but damn if it wasn't satisfying.

Starr hit her with the force of a speeding train, and Brisa struck back with all she had. The two of them... They were just pure energy, their bodies just a convenient vehicle for their blazing power, meeting in a perfect elemental fury. They'd give the crowd something to remember, that much was certain.

As she passed out, and as they were each ferried off the field to thunderous applause, she smiled to herself hard enough to make her overtaxed jaw ache. Starr . . . was a combatant like no other. Her equal. A joy to fight . . . and a joy to fight beside. If only it could always be that way.

Incineroar finally uncovered his eyes from his arm, squinting. "They... knocked each other out! Their duel had ended in a draw!"

Owen stumbled over to Brisa checking if she was still conscious, but they'd both gone down with extremely relatable, satisfied smiles. Perhaps not on their faces, but in their hearts. He could tell...

Owen waved to Incineroar, nodding, and Incineroar announced the end of the fight to a roaring crowd. With Owen standing on the side, he and Brisa had been declared the victors, and he and Wishkeeper helped carry Brisa, Starr, and Nip off the field when the celebrations were complete.

This was it, the power of Team Spectrum. And with The Blacklight That Burns the Sky looming above them, something about that sphere of death seemed just a bit smaller...
