The Introduction of Cooking (Pokemon)

Oh. So you want to try your hand at cooking? That's fine. You can go off and use normal plants and animals and whatever lame berries you have. Go do kiddie stuff that a toddler could beat you at. Have fun.

Huh? You're serious? Thought you just looked like you wanted to do some boring outdoor survival show and wanted to do some unscripted cooking. Oh, you do? Then make it fully unscripted unlike a certain cook who runs a show that begins with an H, ends with an N, and is two words long and sounds like Nell's Kitchen.

Oh, you did, nice. But before we get to the recipes we need to talk some common sense. Let the SBS begin!

On Cooking Evolutions :

Just don't. Evolutions tend to be more tougher and has less of the lovely succulent fat. They are also usually packed full of random chemicals and magic hand waving that no one explains. First stage pokemon aren't as built for battle and are therefore much less stringy and tend to be well-marbled. There are some exceptions. Octillery, for instance, should be cooked rather than remoraid. Toxapex's fatty limbs are much easier cooked than Mareanie's. But in general, don't cook your Charizard and cook its baby instead.

On Cooking Eggs :

You're sick in the head. I'm calling the police.

On Berries :

Berries actually contain ample amounts of protein. They're pretty magical in that aspect and any chef worth his Nacli should know which berries have which properties. For instance, a Kasib berries tend to be very sweet, starchy, and heat-resistant meaning they're great for desserts but Oran berries spoil easily in the oven so you should avoid using them. Also, contrary to popular belief, Tamato berries shouldn't be used as a spicy seasoning. They'll numb your tongue and prevent the food from being tasted.

On Pokerus :

Look, we're getting dominated by kids. Of course we don't know the difference between a virus and a prion. Pokerus is the latter, not a virus. A virus can be destroyed with heat. A prion can't. So don't cook mons with pokerus or you risk getting some brain disease. Also, Berserk Genes and Chemical R are RNA based so a pokemon under the effect of that is fine to eat with correct preparations.

On Waste :

You should have a personal army of Trubbish ready. A lot of Pokemon aren't completely suitable for eating so you will see a lot of waste. Yes, it's completely ethical, if you feel bad just grind up your former friend's leftovers and make a sausage. It isn't the wurst thing someone has done to an animal.

On Plant-Like Pokemon :

Talking about them is a little complex, but the short and sweet part is : they suck. They pump you full of stress and plant hormones so never cook them, never let a shady cook give them to you, and if you want to try them, dine and dash at a world famous cafe and wait for the police I called 3 sections ago.

On Togepi :

Yeah, this gets a special section just for it. Don't cook it because, for some mysterious reason, you get really bad luck afterwards. Now, if you serve it to your dying great-grandparents and they just want one last meal, I will say, it tastes great! i'll elaborate on that later. The first bite tastes like heaven. The second then takes you there.

On Igglybuff :

Numerous people have died from choking on it, so refrain from making it. I haven't made it myself but people say it is oddly gummy and chewy like some kind of bacon flavored mochi. It won't be mentioned anywhere else in the book though. If you really want to try, just eat a Pinap berry's core.

With all that out of the way, next chapter we can begin! Have fun until then while I try to write it as I eat my omelet.

Unrepentent Giovanni and Rocket fan
This premiss is hilarious. I can see ex rocket grunts hostong this show, I mean all mon are for the profit as are all parts of mon? Right?

The fact that grass types cant be used as self renewing salad dispensers is disapointing...

And igglypuffs descriptor was free mind bleach needed here. Bacon flavored mochi. Ew.

So question. When you cook a magmar does its internal temprature make it a eddible oven and therefore make a turducken much more exciting than it needs to be?

Will you be takung suggestions?

How does thw mon world survive itswlf cnsoderong on of its biggest persk pokerus, is basically mad cow disease?

If you cant cook w eggs how can you bake? A world without cookies, cakes and omlets seems a sad one...

Anywho, i loved the fun irrelevence of this tale. It was quote a trip. I look forward to further entries and see8ng where this goes.

For sure, Don Giovanni :D

Whoops, I switched the order up. But yeah, I would imagine it could double as an oven. My idea was to use it in a Baked Alaska but since I don't know how to make one, I'm probably switching to that. Yay, plagiarism, am I right? :D

This is why we have organized crime, people. On a serious note, assuming the author isn't a criminal, they probably substituted a berry. Probably.

Yay! Thanks! :D

The format of this is a little weird. Basically, recipes will be treated like they are in a regular cookbook but on here. The chapters are just going to be very large so some entries are supposed to be part of a chapter, not a chapter. Capish?
Kanto Pokemon & Its Berries

Bulbasaur :

Remember what I said about plant-like pokemon? If not, go ahead and eat Bulbasaur. Raw. Especially the bulb. Ok, let me go off a tangent really quickly. See, some symbiotes and their hosts are actually so compatible the host ends up passing on the symbiote, in a process called symbiogenesis. Thats how the tasty pet jelly bean cells have remain in the offspring. Anyway, thats what happened to Bulbasaur here but that does mean some parts of it are actually, drumroll plea-no, what are you idiots doing, I don't mean the comedy one! Er, some parts are actually edible and tasty. Which parts? Smaller, low energy parts of it like its tail. It's still poisonous, mind you, but if you get a high quality chef, they have a 25% chance of not killing you. I'm not giving you a recipe though.

Charmander :

Disclaimer : It's not spicy. I tried a grand total of 438 of them right in front of its overworked parents and not one of them contained any spiciness. Its actually quite bland. Like a normal lizard level bland and its quite stringy. The tail of one has a lot of delicious juicy fat though, so my personal favorite recipe for it is :

Charmander Dongpo

Ingredients :
  • Charmander Tail
  • Persim Berry
  • Chople Berry
  • Rice Wine
  • Soy Sauce
1) Boil the Charmander tail in water. Cut into 3 inch slices along the longer side. Set aside.
2) Slice up the Chople Berry as violently as you can and cry as the spicy juices squirt directly into your eyes. All part of the authentic experience. Slice the Persim Berry as well, along the shorter side.
3) Layer the berry slices on the bottom of a pot. Make sure the Chople Berry is on top.
4) Lay down the slices of Charmander tail on top.
5) Pour rice wine and soy sauce generously over.
6) Simmer for 90 minutes
7) Turn the tail slices over and simmer again for 90 minutes. Serves me.

Squirtle :

Now this is one good Pokemon you should cook. If you have a kid, try to get them to get White Oak Cuttingboard or whatever his name is to get one for you. It tastes like a soft shell turtle and is generally very fatty for a tropical Pokemon. It's shell is also packed with calcium and various good minerals that you should try to take advantage of. A super common recipe is as follows.

Southern Fried Squirtle

Ingredients :
  • One whole squirtle. Mug a storekeeper if you can't get it.
  • Flour
  • Vinegar
  • Smoliv Oil
1) Seperate the flesh from the shell. You can crack the shell relatively easy with a hammer.
2) Chop the meat into large chunks.
3) Boil the meat with the vinegar. Set aside
4) Boil the shell and leave it for a about 3 hours. Take out shell.
5) Use this water mixture to make batter with the flour. Use this to coat the meat chunks and then deepfry until golden.
