DUDE! I don't know what to do! I'm a Rescue Team member, not a detective! There's too much conflicting information, and I'm beginning to believe there's no scum at all!

[[Woahhhh there, take a deep breath. The good news is, we’re entering the night phase, which gives you some time to sort things out.

I totally get feeling overwhelmed. Mafia is A LOT, especially with this many players, and especially when dead players can still post, so the number of people posting never decreases. Things pile up super fast and catching up on backlog feels impossible. Trust me when I say I get you! Here’s some advice that I hope will help:

1. Skim the backlog. If you can read everything, that’s great! But if not, then focus on players’ read lists (usually contained under spoilers like my post above, or in tables like Windskull’s latest post). Taking notes as you read, either in a notebook or Google doc, will help things stick and feel less confusing.

2. Track each role that is claimed, and by who. Read up on the wiki on what the role can do. Think about if this role claim feels believable or not. Make note when a role claim is proven to be true!

3. Track who votes for who, and when. Voting patterns can tell you things about whether someone is scum or town.

4. Pay attention to who is defending who. Scum will try to subtly divert attention away from their scum buddies, will usually not speak up when a vote train happens on an innocent, etc. But they won’t never vote for their scum buddies, either—if it looks like a lost cause, they might jump in somewhere in the middle or end of a vote train just to avoid suspicion.

After doing these things, don’t be afraid to start talking! If someone’s play or logic doesn’t make sense, ask questions. If you’re not sure what a role can do, look it up. If you have an idea, or a suspicion, don’t be afraid to share it! If people don’t agree with them, they will explain why, and this will help you learn through experience which sorts of plays and scenarios are more feasible.

Again, mafia is HARD, it’s stressful, and while it probably feels like everyone knows what they’re doing, I assure you, none of us do. 😂 We’re all flailing in the dark here. It’s the game of guessing and being wrong more often than being right. If you make a mistake—congrats, you’re in excellent company, because we’re all screwing it up left and right!

If they know we're both one of 2-3 roles they shouldn't target then they simply won't target either of us when they have other juicy targets, no? Your caution feels performative rather than part of a real plan to get a real benefit. Anyway I was expecting your Mayor claim since you couldn't be an Outsider, Librarian, Soldier, or Ravenkeeper. It was literally the only claim you could make. And if you're scum then you already knew I was Ravenkeeper. And if you're town then you blinked first.

This is definitely true, I think.

The big reason I'm leaning Malachai out of the two is not because they voted for me, but rather because they were a major part in violently diverting attention away from Madeline the moment there was even the slightest hint of doubt

Then why did I back up Lyn super strongly? God, we must be the most amateurish, galaxybrained scum theatre performers of all time, throwing all our eggs in the "be super persuasive but hope nobody believes us" basket.

I knew damn well that wild galaxybraining is not Yellow's playstyle and I cannot for the life of me understand why everyone was quick to vote her instead of assuming drunk/poisoned

Once again, it would not have been galaxybraining in this version of the game because the guidebook literally tells you to do it and it would have looked more sus not to.

I find it hard to excuse. Especially considering she also voted for the very person she could have cleared as innocent.

It's more important to survive as a repeat-inforole than it is to save a player whose role is proven to be bunk.

It accounted for poisoning and got information. This game is mostly about information control.

what if they're trying to avoid it being known there's a spy in the game?

If they had a spy and didn't kill Free then they had a great poker hand and folded anyway. It's not impossible but I don't buy it.

Here's what I was typing up last night before I crashed:

Unclaimed town/outsider roles:

• Librarian
• Ravenkeeper
• Soldier
• Mayor
• Recluse
• Saint

I don't believe we have a Recluse or Saint, or they'd have claimed already probably, and we seem to have identified two Outsiders anyway. Pano is Butler, someone (Yellow?) is Drunk. That leaves only four town roles:

• Librarian

The Librarian is another non-repeating inforole, like Washerwoman. They would have said something by now.

• Soldier

The Soldier is the only other claim that could cast doubt on Free's Monk claim. Either we have no Soldier, or someone has lied that they're something else to conceal that they're the Soldier... and I don't believe that's happened. It would be really risky, since town don't have safe fakeclaims to make.

• Ravenkeeper

Tetra is not the Ravenkeeper, because I am the Ravenkeeper. There is now no chance of my being killed in the night, which is what would make me useful to the town. Unfortunate.

• Mayor

Tetra is either the Mayor, or she is scumteam and will fakeclaim Mayor. I don't believe we can both be town, so I believe she is Mafia.

I will return tomorrow to voting Chibi, I expect. I now have Free as locktown (annoying!!! I thought I was clever to dismiss her confusing technicalposting!) and there are only so many valid targets, because I absolutely believe Watt was truthful and correct. So I gotta vote Chibi.

Another day, another circus. It'd looked pretty said and done with for the grand majority of the day. Madeline's accusers just had too strong a case and the ghost's frustrated shrieks and wails when her claims of innocence fell on deaf ears did little to convince them otherwise. Even Zevya was beginning to grow bored, just wanting to get it over with but then...

Pandemonium. Again.

A sudden twist, well past the apex of the day, threw a spanner in the works and the train of logic flew off the rails.

Things just didn't line up.

If that was true, then...

Who could they trust?

What was even happening any more?

The lights began to dim and an exhausted Zevya held up her good arm, putting an end to the conversation. Votes had been thrown everywhere. A couple stuck to their original target, a couple glares fell towards the legendary horse(s?), and even a stray vote towards one of Madeline's original accusers. But, eventually, a consensus had been reached: Drake, the dark rattata who seemed to keep one too many cards close to his chest. It was shakier, far less dominating than the vote for Rui, but majority was majority and the emeras began to illuminate.

And then, it was gone.

Too late to change anything now. The innocent could only hope that they'd chosen wisely.

The zoroark didn't bother to name names or even point to last night's unfortunate victim, but the striking lack of emera in Dave's looplet after a periphery glance made such statements unnecessary.

"You know the drill," Zevya yawned, interrupting any comment that may have been made. The beginnings of a smug smile tugged at the corners of her mouth. "I'll just be here. Watching the fireworks." She flopped on her back, wincing a bit at the shock of pain when her broken arm was jostled.

"Most fun I've had for a while. I knew this was a good idea.

"Huh? I didn't say anything. Go! Get hunting!"

I have been vegetating all night and the past couple days an I am convinced that one of chibi or Mal is one of the scum. Not both given winds info but it's one of them with complete certainty.

I find myself leaning Mal I guess if only because scum Ravenkeeper would be a good fake play? Never exactly has to lie about Intel.

I think this is just correct, which means I can definitely rule myself out as drunk as well (not that it was likely, I just like having the proof).

I still think the inspections from n0/n1 lined up in such a way that Madeline being guilty is the simplest explanation for everything, but I guess we just got one point in her favor from Elgyem. I want to know what Morgan's intel was before trying to figure out if that's accurate, though.]]

[[At this point I'm throwing away my usual soulreading to just look purely at interactions because I honestly think that's all we need. We have so many confirmed town that we could basically fire randomly at everyone not-confirmed and I think we'd still just win.

From where I'm sitting, these are the only trios that are even possible:

Drake/Morgan/Elgyem - Requires the redchecks from yesterday to have been an insanely bold Morgan+Elgyem setup, which I still don't find plausible. Also why would Morgan would throw away the free Madeline elimination at the last second.
Drage/Elgyem/Mal - Requires Elgyem to have been faking her intel without having any way of knowing what Morgan's intel was which is crazy lucky. Nothing technically ruling it out though.
Drake/Mal/Madeline - While Mal had been subtly hinting at the possibility of scum Drake, the seating arrangement meant that he basically would've had to. I don't see any reason why Drake/Mal is an impossible pairing, and I wasted a lot of time thinking about which one was more likely.

Combinations I believe are impossible:

Morgan/Mal - This would mean they had a free mislynch on Madeline and then collaborated to undo it for basically no reason. Nope.
Madeline/Morgan - Requires everything from yesterday to have been an elaborate act. Nope.

As a reminder, I'm ruling out evil!Rui because I'm pretty sure I mechanically cannot be drunk, and I don't know why I would have been a poison target on n1.]]

Though I am not the one being addressed here, I also see a separate possibility for a trio here. And while

the dark rattata Drake was the one voted to execution last night [[after I went to sleep]], I'm not terribly sure of his guilt myself. But I will hold my tongue until the mismagius reports her findings.

I think I find two configurations plausible: [Drake/Spectrier-Glastrier/Madeline] and [Drake/Spectrier-Glastrier/Rui]. In both scenarios, the horse is scum, and in one of them we win by executing them. If the horse isn't scum then I'm wrong about one of my fundamental assumptions, and maybe Rocky or Morgan is scum or some shit like that.]]
