"I was a good dog." He gave a sad awooo

Fools.

Your core contains a fission reactor. Even if you lose, they will not win.

Turning off cooling system…

Opening exterior vents…

Uploading Data…

Goodbye, Sexually Promiscuous Lifeforms.

Commence Explosion.

When light reaches you again, that's exactly what you see: light. No longer are you greeted by an exploding metagross, neverending darkness, or a sanguine sea, but a clear blue sky and deciduous grass; a picturesque foundation for the blooming trees, weeping willows, and bushes of vibrant flowers. The sound of running water alerts you to the sight of a lake, traced in precisely trimmed hedges, winding pathways that lead you between the flora, and marble statues of various humanoid and Pokemon figures. The lake, rippling under a deep turquoise hue and the presence of numerous strangely colored aquatic 'mon, served as a vertical buffer between a large white entrance gate and the steps of a vast mansion, seemingly carved from the same marble as the statues. The gate stretches into a high fence, leading around the extensive property you now stand in. You could try to leave, but you'd just be met with more trees. They look like they stretch on for miles.

A tinkle of a giggle announces Odile's, lounging up on a thick branch of a larger willow. She'd lost her black tracksuit and was now clad in a chiffon gown, pink as an igglybuff. Her dangling skirt swayed in the light breeze, and she reached up to tug joyously on her cap sleeves.

"Top of the morning to you!" she said. "And welcome to my humble abode. Or, well, I guess a projected version of. You fuck anything up, you'll wish sperm never connected with egg."

Aside from the drastic change of scenery, something else rings odd to you. Your group is smaller than it had been to start, and there is a new presence among you.

Flyg0n/Anubis was killed. He was Town.
Persephone/Nocitlālin was killed. They were a Third Party.

And...

OmegaDust/N has been replaced by Canisaries/Red!

Odile floated off the branch and hovered up to the new player, gesturing wildly to him, like he was a new toy. "Say a big fat hello to Red, your new playmate! He'll be taking over for the last guy I a--I mean...did away with. So play nice. Or not."

Morgan cackled with glee, while her guardian stopped to check the rules of the game. The box-standard rulebook they had access to clearly didn't reflect the way Satan was running things, unless she was (mechanically) insane. After all, the very second sentence of the article about her role explicitly said that the exact stroke of luck she'd just had shouldn't have happened the way it did... but what she'd gotten back from Satan was still within the realm of plausibility. And really, who here could she trust if not herself? If she was insane, it was best to find that out real damn quickly and live with the consequences. (Or more likely, be killed by her own teammates as a consequence.) Second-guessing herself for the rest of her life expectancy here would be a bad idea. Especially because, with the way the first day had gone, she probably didn't have much life expectancy left to sanity-check herself. Her Guardian caved, and she prepared herself for the showdown...

She waved to the new arrival. "Big fat hello, Red~"

Then flitted over to Kimiko, "Morning! Bet you enjoyed the fireworks when we woke up!"

And over to Neo, in turn, "Morning to you as well, Kitty. Hope you like being right~" She raised her voice, projecting enough for everyone to hear. "Your little hunch that there was an enemy among the people who wanted me gone was a good one. Got me thinking, if that was the case, who'd it be?"

Morgan pulled away and higher into the air to address the whole crowd, meeting the eyes of each of the people she spoke about as she did. "Baraz [[Chibi]] might be a bit of a shit disturber, but I don't think he even wanted me dead that bad." ('Course, there were other reasons not to investigate Baraz, but that wasn't important right now.) "Stringbean [[Grovyle/yiran]] wanted to go eye for eye, but he didn't seem all that suspicious in doing so. I did kinda start that fight. The dragon [[Peridot/EonDuoLatias]] came across... as perhaps a bit eclectic, but I didn't think anything of it at the time." (She shot him a little wink as she put her emphasis on those last three words.)

Before her gaze came to rest on Gabriel. Unlike the other three, she pointed a tendril at him.

"Then there's Mister Undetectable. Mister 'if the boy were an enemy, none of us would know until it was too late.' I'm a Rolecop, so I gave him a nice investigation. And the devil must've shared with me some of her very own luck~"

She paused speaking to make a little pew noise. As she did so, she jerked back her tendril, like it was recoling from a gunshot.

"Because I got 'im right between the eyes~ I was hoping for an unambiguously factional result like a Godfather or another Rolecop. Even a Miller would give me certainty I was on the wrong track. And that's more or less what happened! My result was (ahem) 'He Who is a Basic Bitch with Gun Left Bracket Goon Right Bracket'! That's pretty goddamn unambiguous if you ask me~"

Of course, that was also the part that gave her guardian pause for thought. The fucking spoilsport. She had him, she just needed her guardian to stop bloody equivocating about it!

"It's a bit odd, actually. You'd expect the result to be 'He Who is a Basic Bitch Left Bracket Vanilla Right Bracket' if the role was being used normally. That's pretty plainly stated in the normal rules. But really, who am I to complain? Sluggy can take it up with Satan after the game if he wants~"

Morgan would enjoy watching him trying to get out from under this one. She'd have to enjoy it while it lasted, because she was acutely aware that they could all expect her to wash up as dead as the dog (or as cooked as the crab) tomorrow morning for making a play this aggressive this early in the game. But even if there was nothing to Gabriel (save possibly for whatever invisible modifiers he might have) the Mafia valued their own more highly than she valued herself as a townie who was currently counting herself lucky not to be killed by a vigilante last night. And they should probably value access to his particular Guardian very highly indeed.

[[Anyway, that was fun, I'm glad I brought a total drama llama of a character to this. I'm sure this is a good time for me to go to bed for eight hours, it's unlikely this post will make any waves, it's not like I'm throwing out any major claims or accusations. Also it almost goes without saying but Vote: Gabriel / Dragonfree @Sinderella ]]

The environment was a much more friendly and familiar one to Grovyle, and for a brief moment, he got lost in it and forgot about the game itself. It was only when the host's... select choice of words brought him back to the reality that this wasn't a true realm, and he was still stuck in this (painstakingly social) game. And although the Metagross seemed like no big loss, he wondered if he could have done or said something to the Houndoom to change the outcome. But alas, the liars' decision would probably have been uninfluenced. He only hoped Anubis woke up in some place better.

At least the environment would help him focus more. Wading in an endless bloody ocean definitely made him feel more lost than he wanted to be, and towards the end of that Grovyle was more intent on keeping his sanity than partaking in the game. Although he made his intention to abstain clear, he didn't end up switching his vote off of Morgan - something perhaps he would have done in a vacuum, but the accumulation of votes on this Morgan character certainly seemed informative.

Among other information. He put a paw to his chin and started thinking (with some help from his guardian), now that he could focus better. Thinking better than to analyze too many others out loud, he kept quiet.

- Morgan accumulated nearly enough votes to be put over. A Morgan role flip would help analyze and be alignment indicative of those that built up the wagon.
- Baraz effectively claimed that his "strong role claim" may be misleading. While initially convinced of his innocence, Grovyle wasn't sure he liked the Floatzel's inconsistency in the claim.
- Neo's "list" was something that caught Grovyle's guardian's eye and felt worthy of being brought to attention.

Kinda Maybe Good Vibes:

Growly-Dog [[Anubis]]
Fussy-Human [[Kimiko]]
Sassy-Ghost [[Morgan]]

Neutral:

Scruff-Mon [[Matthias]]
Fancy-Frog [[Matthias]]
Glitter-Man [[Wallace]]
Lava-Boy [[Gabriel; not to be confused with Shark-Girl.]]
Leaf-Hopper [[Grovyle]]
Speedy-Dragon [[uhhh, Peridot? I forget the name. Eon’s character.]]
Silent-Shadow [[N. Have they posted at all??]][/COLOR]

Maybe a Bad Guy:

Murder-Bolts [[Nocitlan, yeah I definitely spelled that wrong]]
Floaty-Rock [[Pleione]]

Prior to the reveal this felt strange. Anubis had little agenda in proposing an abstain, but Kimiko had very little gameplay presence and Morgan certainly wasn't winning any points at the time. The "Maybe a Bad Guy" list also felt like more off of people's nature than off of gameplay. Was this really coming from an innocent trying to solve? He also in the end was correct about the two deaths, and as such, perhaps they have too much information.

No matter. At the moment in time, Morgan who is a focal character certainly opened the day with a lot of info Grovyle didn't completely understand. He cleared his throat. "Morgan, I'm not sure I understood all of that. Are you claiming that you saw Gabriel's role as an evil one with certainty, or did you see it as something else and are assuming they are evil because of it?"

[[First clarification: I was actually meaning to abstain but I got lazy and didn't change my vote. In retrospect I'm very glad I didn't as it allowed a wagon build up that didn't result in a flip which is massive wagonomics information if Morgan / Shiny Phantump flips at some point in the future.

Off the NKs, we have 2/3 firing: Mafia, Third Party Serial Killer, Town Vig (JOAT using Vig). There could be a crosskill, or the TP SK / Town Vig could be absent/holstered.

I highly doubt the Nocitlalin slot would be a TP target, and very low chance of a mafia target, because I didn't think them as a threat to mafia in role or thread presence. So that probably was a correct vig and Anubis was killed by the mafia. Which means there likely isn't a third party killing slot. If anything, the Nocitlalin slot is probably a condemner or fool as they didn't particularly try to appear towny and was also interested in trying to fish if there was lynch info going on.

Morgan's rolecop claim I'm not sure if to believe. On one hand, they claimed pretty detailed information of the report in a way that's hard to fake, but they also did not claim PR or have any indication of self preservation when they almost went over day 1, which to me suggests that they didn't view their role as super important, nor have the town entitlement I usually expect from someone going over day 1.

It definitely doesn't make sense to continue to abstain, so waiting for clarification & Dragonfree to show up and probably claim if she is redchecked. If this is a hard conflict it doesn't make sense to vote outside.

To elaborate on my other two notes:

Chibi Pika retracing the strong role claim I really did not like. Claiming strong role to bait nk / to stimulate discussion I view as pro-town but if you've committed to the part about baiting nk I would personally not add the "wifom" clarification so a level 1 new mafia team would be baited. The only valid reasons to add that (except for just having fun meming, which I guess is possible), would be if he was actually a strong role and wanted to avoid getting killed (but then why claim in the first place?) or if he was mafia knowing that surviving too many nights would be suspicious.

Neo's list just doesn't make sense to me. Other than Anubis and Morgan, the other 3 feel like purely placed there off of RP vibes. The two in the mafia list felt like they RPed in a relatively hostile way and I feel no gameplay impact from Kimiko other than RP in a friendly way, and I don't think those are valid reasons to qualify throwing someone into town or scum for a readslist.

That being said, these two could easily be town playing game with a different logical viewpoint from me, and mechanically we are not lynching outside Dragonfree and Shiny Phantump unless new information comes about.]]

Before she'd realized what was happening, Kimiko (and, presumably, everyone else) had been sealed in a blood cocoon and deprived of consciousness. Christ on a fucking cracker, how does Odette live with that? she thought to herself. ...Well, presumably, by not being forced to sleep in a freaking blood cocoon every night, but still. "I don't suppose you have anything more comfortable, do you?" she groaned in Odile's direction, stretching her arms over her head as she examined their highly unexpected new surroundings... and the change in participants.

Then flitted over to Kimiko, "Morning! Bet you enjoyed the fireworks when we woke up!"

She stared at the place the metagross had once been, feeling suddenly less at ease with the ghost than she'd left the night before. "...I had nothing to do with that," she said, palms in the air defensively. She hadn't been the only one ill at ease with Nocitlālin's behavior - and, as it turned out, for better reasons than she'd offered. Still, she wasn't terribly upset she was no longer in danger of being levitated and cut open, or whatever else the metagross had been plotting. She spared a glance for where Anubis had been as well; those parting words and the sad howl left a strange pang in her heart. She didn't know Lillia's houndoom all that well, but she couldn't shake that mental image...

She listened to the rest of Morgan's monologue with mixed feelings, and her anxiety settled a bit when it seemed like the ghost really had just been making an observation rather than an accusation at her. In fact, there as next to nothing in regards to a follow-up about Nocitlālin's death. But an accusation did fly; at the... humanoid slugma, was he?

My result was (ahem) 'He Who is a Basic Bitch with Gun Left Bracket Goon Right Bracket'!

Still, they only had her word for it at the moment, so Kimiko considered what was offered. That was a pretty bold role claim, almost certainly one to put a target on her back, but Morgan sure seemed confident of it. Even the wording of the supposed result was phrased similarly to her own note; but if they were all phrased that way, as they were on the signup page, it wouldn't be hard to fake, despite the apparent flair. But that, then, left the question of the allignment reveal. Was that a possible example of the Bastard Modding that had been listed as a possibility during signups? Kimiko had no idea what to expect that to mean. Perhaps all vanilla players were just flavored as goons for the lulz? That seemed like something Odile would do, and changing the meaning of a keyword role certainly counted as bastard modding in her book. Then again, as Morgan also pointed out, that wasn't the only subtle indicator in there.

Still, they'd only heard one side of the story so far, so until they did, Kimiko turned her thoughts elsewhere.

There were two further points to address that she'd noted, as well; Firstly, more than one person had the ability to kill. What were the odds that they were a townie? No townie would have shot Anubis, so that had to be a mafia kill. (Was redirection a thing?) Nocitlālin... they'd been acting rather too openly questionable; almost too easy a target. Would a townie have considered the metagross worth the risk of a blind shot (and if so, were they able to do it again)? Or was there perhaps another mafia/third party faction that figured they had nothing to lose? (But then, why not also target someone less antagnostic?) She hoped someone better with numbers would be able to figure out the likelihood of that.

And the other...

The dragon [[Peridot/EonDuoLatias]] came across... as perhaps a bit eclectic, but I didn't think anything of it at the time."

"You never followed up on your thoughts on Peridot," she said to the ghost, with a vague hand gesture at the 'mon in question. "You didn't think anything of their behavior at the time, but...?"

[[Quick ooc thoughts on this, mostly notations on past experience, because it's after 2 am and I should have been in bed an hour and a half ago....]]

Was this really coming from an innocent trying to solve?

[[This feels consistent with Yellow's previous gameplay reads to me. Matthias is listed twice under neutral, but otherwise, Yellow does put a lot of thought into RP flavor; some players here, being writers, are very good at putting information into their flavor if you know how to look at it.]]

If anything, the Nocitlalin slot is probably a condemner or fool as they didn't particularly try to appear towny and was also interested in trying to fish if there was lynch info going on.

[[I'm unfamiliar with how condemner/condemnee works; assuming Tetra was Persophone's condemnee, would Tetra still have read town, then? There would be no indication of this other than Nocitlālin self-destructing? Ironically, a good example of the above RP flavoring, but still obviously doesn't prove it.]]

they also did not claim PR or have any indication of self preservation when they almost went over day 1, which to me suggests that they didn't view their role as super important

[[Assuming her claim is true and Lyn is town, this is her first time in several games not being on the mafia team, so it makes sense that she wouldn't want to draw attention to herself and actually get to play as town at least for a day. In fact, the lack of self-preservation could suggest a grim acceptance that she was going to be killed off early. I guarantee though that, again assuming the claim is true, there's no way she doesn't understand the value of the role she's claiming; this isn't her first rodeo.]]

Gabriel blinked, brow furrowing.

“Okay, so no, I’m not mafia goon. I’m vanilla town, or just “basic bitch”, which I had to double-check was even supposed to exist in this game when I got the role but apparently so. Not totally sure what’s going on with this from Morgan; obviously I don’t trust her, at all, but it doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to me as a mafia gambit and now I’m paranoid there’s some GM bastardry going on one way or another. Let me think about it and get back to you, but for the moment, Vote: Morgan (Shiny Phantump) @Sinderella.”

[[Welp, I will be at work and then at my grandpa’s funeral for most of the day so not ideal timing for shenanigans :unquag: Will be back sometime tonight. In the meantime, if anyone else wants to beat me to squinting at the setup and whether there could be some kind of gun ownership whatever going on, or alternatively if there’s target swapping or redirection of any kind, please do]]

The surroundings were decently pleasing for the Latios. It reminded him of the penultimate theatre in the War of Hoenn, the Mauville-Fortree-Lilycove stretch that finally led to being able to link up the Mossdeep-Sootopolis stretch, which his partner had already taken down, with his own campaign. He wondered for a brief moment how those in Hoenn was doing...but that didn't matter for now. What mattered was that the game continued, and..holy hell. If that revelation was true, it would be huge.

But how likely was it? Peridot thought aloud: "Not that likely, I have to suppose -- that the Mismagius wasn't lying. It wouldn't be good strategy to tell everyone here that is scum...to kill her next, right? And..." he thought for a few seconds about how Morgan seemed to take interest in himself...what did she even know? "Now, what about the Gabriel boy? Surely there's a reason why he was targeted...it can't be as simple as Morgan picking someone random, right?"

And yet, she obviously knew it was a bad strategy to give out such key information so early. But she did...and surely, there was something bigger at play. Back to himself, though: "Yeah, Morgan...I want to know, what do you know about me?"

[[At this point, everyone knows that this is a horrid play if she truly was rolecop, since he'll be on the chopping block soon. The most obvious conclusion as Peridot deduced above is that she isn't town and instead is scum, but honestly? That's way too obvious -- maybe she's third party if anything? Or even town???]]

[[See this is what I talk about when I say x dimensional chess: if we all don't think she's rolecop, it's unexpected for her to actually be rolecop, and since this is mafia, obviously we won't think she's rolecop -- so maybe that's what's going on? Or maybe she's third party -- I'm not too familiar with what the possible 3rd parties are, but at first glance maybe serial killer or something along the lines of 'condemn as many as possible'?]]

[[I don't think she's fully confirmed to be scum is the point -- I'll put it at like 20 or 30% chance, but if she's scum that's way too obvious of a move to play -- so she's definitely bluffing for something else, and to decide what 'something else' it is then we can think about whether we kill or not]]

[[I need to think more about Gabriel though]]

[[Well if everyone has a bunch of legacy reads they probably supercede mine since I haven't played with either of the two in conflict. Either way if Morgan is fake claiming I don't see why it can't be mafia 1f1ing a strong town if they already almost went over, but there's also the chance that there are more TP and she is either a jester or condemner with Dragonfree as the target. I will see if they retract + respond to others in more detail later]]

Baraz laughed uproariously. "So the ghost heeded my warning after all!"

baraz-neutral.png
"I cannot see any reason to believe this would be a trick of the enemy. Trading a life for a life would be extremely foolhardy in their position. If the boy were not the enemy, Morgan would be throwing her own life away with this play." His instincts were also telling him that the strange specificity of seeing 'goon' instead of 'vanilla' was further sign that it was not a fabrication.

He had been uncertain the previous day, naturally, but overnight he'd had more time to think. The way in which Gabriel had locked onto the illogical words of the saint-bird, the Latios Peridot, had felt strange. As if deliberately trying to find reason to suspect the bird's confusion as sign of a plot. It seemed to be a sign that the boy was trying to leave the tent open to vote for him later, or that it was an easy chance to suspect his own partner for very real illogical words--this would certainly appear useful to everyone else!

"By all means, if someone here believes they may have unwittingly interfered with the ghost's scouting, do come forward. But until then, I cast my vote once again for the boy Gabriel."

Role Revealed: Dragonfree/Gabriel is He Who is a Basic Bitch with Gun (Goon)
“It was pretty damn clear.”

[[Also if you’re not on Bright Skies forum theme that black text is just /Gabriel is. I know I could edit the quote to fix it but in the spirit of authenticity I’m leaving it.

Also I didn’t claim a power role because I’d turn up dead, didn’t know how powerful my role was about to be (again, I assumed this is a case where it’d return Vanilla) and so wasn’t willing to do that until I’d really crossed the rubicon to prevent a Mafia player claiming it later. Especially given Heal Clash is listed as a possibility here which’d make me borderline-impossible to doc. Figured I had a decent chance of getting a stay of execution, which I did. I did express a willingness to do so if I was totally cooked!]]

"You never followed up on your thoughts on Peridot," she said to the ghost, with a vague hand gesture at the 'mon in question. "You didn't think anything of their behavior at the time, but...?"
Morgan smirked. “Kimiko, have I ever told you that you’re my favourite person here? Yeah, yesterday I wrote Peridot off as someone tryna play Solitaire with a deck a few aces short of fifty-two. But now, I keep coming back to that fact that Gabriel’s reaction…
[[Some paranoia setting in here, EonDuoLatios could be stepping in to get on a train and hastily justify it post hoc without reading closely...? But could also just be confused town??]]
“…would be at least in part based on privileged information. My Guardian’s been scum with his once before, and the two of them were willing to kill their own teammate at the end of the first day and rode that credibility all the way to the end of the line. After all, if your teammate had made an irrecoverable mistake, any savvy player would drill them for it… Only, the rest of us wrote them off as a crank instead.”

Then, she stared off into the middle distance, waiting for her Guardian to elaborate on a point that didn’t make any sense from her perspective.

[[I actually decided to be a bit mean and check EonDuoLatios’ last online status when the above post went live, since I know I spent my first time as scum bouncing my plays off my teammates and made my greatest blunder when they were both offline. He had seen it within seconds, sooner than I even had, but spent fourty-five minutes composing (workshopping, perchance?) the next single sentence, which Free used two write off her scumread alongside the rest of us. Maybe I’m mistaken but if he had no one to consult with I’d expect him to be a bit more of the “shooting from the hip” type than the “careful consideration of every sentence” type. Especially because he did exactly that when I poked him about it a few minutes earlier.

It’s certainly not a hard lock, I’d give it maybe 60/40 odds and want to focus on Free for now, but I’m certainly much more suspect of the whole situation now.]]

Morgan raised a brow, skeptical.

“Interesting. If I am insane, the particular flavour is probably Satan tacking scarlet font and the words ‘with Gun’ onto all my results. Good to know the actual role read is accurate. In a game like this, where everyone has a role then a vanilla player, with maybe a little modifier like Loved tacked on that I can’t see at best, makes a lot more sense as the Mafia to serve as the de-facto killbot as opposed to Town where they’re actually dead useless. Even if I was insane of that particular scarlet-inked variety, I’d still consider a vanilla town claim to be a little… dubious.”

[[There are no bus drivers or other redirectors in this setup, and I wasn’t blocked, so I’m 100% sure I scanned Free. Would be pretty implausible for me to be redirected from vanilla town to vanilla scum in a role madness game anyway. I suppose you could theoretically be Noci’s unknowing Condemnee, she did say she wanted to kill you in particular yesterday, but if that was the case it’s actually still safe to kill you now, and I don’t think it’s more plausible than you actually being scum because it requires me to also be one very particular brand of insane for it to make sense at the same time. Also it would make Noci not a serial killer, which means she’d need to have been targeted by scum last night while Flygon… tripped over the Baraz Gambit, if Chibi’s a PGO? Makes much more sense to Noci to be SK killing Flygon. That or we live in the funniest fucking timeline where Noci was a cult leader and recruited a PGO Baraz last night, mutually dooming both. But “SK is killed by Mafia while killing Tetra” is more plausible to me than both of those weird scenarios that both require one very particular (and rare) Baraz role assignment.]]

Odile floated off the branch and hovered up to the new player, gesturing wildly to him, like he was a new toy. "Say a big fat hello to Red, your new playmate! He'll be taking over for the last guy I a--I mean...did away with. So play nice. Or not."

"Greetings!" Red called out, with a grin, opening his arms wide. "I am Red, High Priest of HELIX and soon-to-be king of reality. The reason for my gracing you with my presence is that I was informed there would be people to kill." His grin morphed into a minor scowl. "Of course, I agreed to this before I knew it was just a game, or that my guardian would be... ugh, female." He sighed heavily. "Well, in any case, she explained to me the rules, and I believe I understand them. Odile has also provided me with my role." He gestured to Odile neutrally, this time concealing his contempt. Their history, while Red couldn't quite remember all the details, wasn't great, and Red remembered how powerful she was. Now that he was able to show his real self to some people again, it was important that he protected that image by staying out of situations where he might be humiliated.

She waved to the new arrival. "Big fat hello, Red~"

"And hello to you, Mismagius," he said, exaggerating friendliness. "It's such a shame you're incorporeal. It means you won't bleed when I come for you." Red held his position for a moment, then chuckled. "I'm just kidding! No, I won't be killing anyone here unless it's through a town vote. Unfortunate, I know. The predator won't get to use his fangs, and he needs to work together with mareep as well. But, well, such is life. Or interdimensional games."

Everyone said:
(yapping)

"Hmm." Red grabbed his chin. "Seems like everyone's hard at work pointing fingers. It would be foolish of me to join in quite yet, though. Me and my guardian need to get the lay of the land first."

[Hey guys! This is my first ever mafia. I wasn't originally going to join because the ostensible 400 IQ requirement scared me, but then a spot opened up later and I figured I might as well roll the rice. You gotta start doing something before you can get better at it, right? Lord, I just hope I don't embarrass myself too hard.]

[This post is just to get Red acting in the RP as soon as I can. I still need some time to figure out the lay of the land, as my beautiful son has already said --]

"Ew."

[-- so I'll save any actual speculation and decisions for later. Cheers!]

The wide grin slowly melted off Odile's face, gradually being replaced by a horrifying frown. It lingered there for an excruciating moment before she laughed outright. She hovered behind him and set her hands on his shoulders, still laughing.

"Isn't he funny? He and I go way back. Well, he and my vessel, mostly," she mused. She cleared her throat and leaned down so she could speak closer to his ear.

"But I will cut off your ballsack and wear it like a swimming cap if you try me again."

She laughed gleefully, hovering back up toward the sky and performing jubilant backflip. "Have fun, sluts!"

Matthias stirred, assessed himself for injury or death, and smiled with faint relief as he relished his continued involvement in the game.

"Well, that's a relief," he murmured. "And, hm...! We've lost an ally and an enemy, I see. A shame about the houndoom, I was hardly certain of his alignment, but I hadn't earmarked him for suspicion, either. Hopefully his role wasn't too important... The metagross, though – I admit I'm a little satisfied that my vote for her was well-placed. I wonder what her role was?"

The Greninja examined his notes on the game setup – what roles might be in the game. It was apparently a fully-inclusive list...

"Cult Leader, Condemner, not Jester, Serial Killer, Survivor. Interesting. Four possible options, then."

He looked up with pensive eyes at Morgan, who'd made such a bold claim just now. His intuition told him that a D2 claim like this was probably trustworthy – why throw away a valuable Mafioso so early?

"I would ordinarily agree with Floatzel Baraz, whose instincts seem sharp enough. A claim like this says 'Town' to me, too. However, what if Morgan were a Condemner? That would be one possible explanation for her claim besides that it is truthful – an explanation that doesn't put us in a terrible position, at least. Another would be that she is aligned with the enemy, but that Gabriel's role is of critical importance, enough to make a sacrifice of herself... but I have a reason to discount that idea."

The frog tapped his page of notes, at the bottom of the rolelist.

"That word. 'Doubly'. Doesn't it suggest that a Rolecop in our game is also capable of reading alignment, like a Cop? Since Third Parties are defined by their roles, that makes it sound like the Rolecop could be a Town role, specifically. Does my reasoning make sense to everyone else, or have I confused myself?"

Neither did it seem like anyone would be insane in this setup – all seven sins were accounted for, and he couldn't see anything that would allow for false information like that.

He thought it over a moment longer, then took a long breath.

"Very well. The path ahead looks straightforward. We should eliminate Gabriel."

Regardless, he had a spreadsheet to keep updated.

Morgan would’ve paled, if she could’ve. That was a very plausible explanation for why the flavour name for her role was like that.

“Oh shit that does actually make sense.”

And it meant she really should’ve shut up. She’d been running off the wiki page that said a Rolecop was about equivalent in power to something like a Tracker. (After all, her note hadn’t given her a description of her power, just the name and a cute little joke about how snitches got stitches.) It’d seemed more likely to her that this result was a function of Goon being considered its own role, not that testing for alignments was something she’d be able to infinitely replicate. If she was some kinda gassed up supercop she should’ve shut the fuck up and avoided a trade unless things started to get really ugly today in terms of votes against her. Wasn’t likely that the town had two cops.

Oh well. Maybe she’d get lucky and live the night anyway. Without a Strongman, she suspected the presence of Heal Clash but that still made it a 50/50 whether or not the Mafia would choose the right power to off her with. Knowing she wasn’t gonna go down with crucial information in her back pocket brought her some peace of mind, at least.

The first thing Wallace noticed upon waking up was the scent of foliage and water. Blessed water! Not that the blood sea had a stench (thank goodness) but there was something much more relaxing about the nearby liquid being something that should exist outside the body without implications.

The second thing he noticed was that the composition of the party had changed. Two faces were gone, while a new one had cropped up.

Neither of the absentees were exactly the most festive party-goers. Sure, the Houndoom had been adamant he wasn't a slut, but he never even got the chance to be curious. And the Metagross, well, while being obsessed with killing in a sea of blood was on-theme, it wasn't exactly a vibe, either.

"Only one loss out of two, plus a substitute party-goer instead of another elimination. I'd say we lucked out there." His gaze slid over to the harried Mismagius. "Doubly so if your read means we've found another party foul."

[[It seems like as it's written in the potential role list, the result Morgan got from the Rolecop *is* the entire Role, which includes its alignment. Which would imply the "doubly" part of the Rolecop's flavor title, maybe? The thing is the flavor title doesn't always reveal alignment for some roles as written, so...? Okay I take it back, down the rabbit hole and it seems like everything in the list *does* have an alignment implicit in a Rolecop inspection (except for Mafia Goon, but that's broken by the Role name *including* the alignment in its title in this game), pls correct me if I'm wrong tho.

Maybe the fact that the Basic Bitch (Townie) is also written with its guaranteed alignment means the Goon alignment reveal on Free isn't a mistake?]]

Neither did it seem like anyone would be insane in this setup – all seven sins were accounted for, and he couldn't see anything that would allow for false information like that.

[[Initially I thought as much as well in reading the seven deadly sins modifiers listed, but also in the "Mechanics designed to fuck with you" it lists ones that *aren't* included in the sins modifiers, like Cynical and Inverse (which the player wouldn't be aware of/aren't listed as a known modifier that would appear in a role PM). Is this my "Pano overreads into the potential list from the GM and goes all paranoid" rearing its head again?]]

[[No that’s definitely on the table. I don’t think we’ve ever seen cop sanity in a TR Mafia game before and that disclosure was the only reason I considered it.

If Jackie’s right and I am a rolecopcop then a bastard sanity modifier would be one way to make it something other than a more powerful version of the most powerful role in the game. But right now I think that’s a risk I have to take? Worst case scenario we lose a completely vanilla townie, and if I really am insane then we probably have a sane cop to fall back on. If I’m insane and I’m inverse and I can start functioning as a normal cop if I survive the night, or I’m random-insane/cynical and Gabriel could still be Mafia.

Or, of course, I’m sane and this is much ado about nothing. Really would like that to be the case.]]

Below is a list of roles that may or may not be included in this game. Not all roles and modifiers listed will be present, but any roles and modifiers that appear in the game will be from this list!

[[Cynical and Inverse are not listed.

Now, this could be a mistake, I guess. But. We shouldn't believe that the GM's presented setup parameters are bullshit without good reason, I think.]]

[[You're correct, they're not listed in the list of roles and disclosed modifiers. In the section above that notes the game "May or Will have" they are listed, though. Reading mafiascum wiki says the Cynical and Inverse are modifiers that are not known to the player. My guess is listing them in known roles and known modifiers would defeat the purpose b/c then they'd have to be disclosed (b/c obviously disclosing them to the player defeats the purpose of having them).

Then again, this is under "May/Will" so there's no guarantee. I'm now also seeing Bastard Modding is only may, so maybe *that's* a red herring too. <distant screaming>]]
