ATUHOR'S NOSE: I am incredibly rusty, but somehow I still managed to extract three drabbles from the creaking apparatus I call a "brain", so there may be some hope for me yet. I tried to stick to the actual 100 words definition of a "drabble" (a deceptively difficult task, honestly!), and any deviation from that number can probably be blamed on how Microsoft Word does word-counts. Without further ado:
“Now, I know what yer thinkin’. ‘Orre? Mercy’s sake, ain’t nothin’ there but scorchin’ sands and crooks on hoverbikes!’ And ya wouldn’t be too far off the mark, neither – we’ve got plenty of both ‘round these ‘ere parts and no mistake.
Don’t let their rough edges fool ya, though – the dust-riders and dream-chasers of the desert ain’t thems ya gotta watch out for. They’re just out there doin’ their best in a region so hostile to life even the Pokémon packed up and left.
No, if it’s truly the darkest shadows yer lookin’ for, look where the light shines brightest…"
The Swampert burbled softly in reply, orange eyes closing in contentment as she lazily floated in the muddy waters that spawned her.
To most, Mossdeep was known for its space center, or for the perfect synchronization of its twin gym leaders. To these two, however, it was where they took the first steps of their long journey together – and now, after many years and untold challenges – it sure was good to be home.
Take “Chloe”, for example. To the sentimental, she could say that she had always loved the name, and that it was only right to name her cherished first partner Pokémon as she would have a beloved daughter. To the grandiose, she could flaunt its meaning – fresh, verdant plant growth in springtime, as befitting a Grass-type. To those unfortunate enough to be caught on the receiving end of one of the Meowscarada’s devastating Night Slash attacks, however, another meaning became immediately and painfully apparent.
The cat sure had claws.

Mossdeep City
“Well, you look like you’re enjoying yourself.” The trainer grinned from her perch on a thick tangle of mangrove roots, idly toying with an old, worn Pokéball. The Swampert burbled softly in reply, orange eyes closing in contentment as she lazily floated in the muddy waters that spawned her.

The Perfect Nickname
The best kind of names were ones with multiple layers of meaning.Take “Chloe”, for example. To the sentimental, she could say that she had always loved the name, and that it was only right to name her cherished first partner Pokémon as she would have a beloved daughter.
