While Thousand Roads' primary focus is on fanfic, we also have a number of visual artists knocking around the community. In the past year or so there's been an increased interest in trying some kind of community event focusing on visual art, so this September, we're going to try one out! Since a number of fun ideas have been put forward, this poll is intended to help us figure out what form our inaugural art event should take. If you have an idea that isn't included above, feel free to throw it out there in the thread! If other people are interested, too, we might end up doing that instead!
The options I've already got on the poll include the following:
Gift Exchange - Each participant lists what they're willing to create and what sort of artwork they'd like to receive. Participants are then matched based on preference, and each creates a gift for the other.
Zine - All participants contribute a piece of artwork relating to a theme, and in the end they're all laid out together in a digital magazine.
Collab - Participants are given a general environment or premise (e.g. "Day at the beach" or "Snowball fight") and draw one of their characters in attire/doing something appropriate to the scenario. The organizer collects all the submissions and then composes them into one big, chaotic scene featuring everyone's characters.
Tarot Deck - Each participant is assigned a Tarot card to illustrate. At the end, we'll have a deck (or part of a deck) showing off the diversity of styles in our community.
Collaborative Drawing - Participants work together in small groups to complete collaborative pieces of art. For example, a group of three might have one person create a sketch, the second add lines, and the third add color.
