Chapter One - Waking Up​

Ugh... my head... what the- where am I...?

I look around to see myself lying on the dirt of some sort of forest. I stand up and continue looking around.

"Rata!"

Huh? What the...?

I turn around to see a green rat standing there.

"Hey! You, kid!"

What now?

I turn to see an orange haired girl in a crop top, suspenders, and shorts. She seems to be carrying a really messed up bike above her head.

"Not leaving much to the imagination, are you?" I joke

"Ugh, perv. Look, have you seen a kid in a red hat run through here?" She asks

"Never seen anyone else, just been me and this green rat." I point behind me

"Green... rat? You don't mean a Rattata, do you? Those are purple, not green. Plus, there's nothing behind you." She says

I turn around to see the green rat gone.

"Huhn. I swear, it was just here. Looked like a green Rattata..." I mutter

"Whatever! I'm gonna go now, I have to find that boy. See this bike, he did this!" The girl captures my attention

"Sounds like a jerk, how about this. I don't know where I am, so if I help you find this kid, you give me information." I offer

"Hm... okay, fine. I accept your offer, two pairs of eyes are better than one. I'm Misty." The girl, or Misty, sticks her hand out for me to shake it

"Nice to meet you Misty, I'm-" I freeze

What... is my name...? I did just wake up, I'm gonna have to come up with something aren't I...? Okay, something cool.... Uh, got it!

"Uh, you alright there? Did you forget your name or something?" Misty snaps her fingers in my face

"Huh! Oh, sorry, Misty. I'm Sallec." I grab her hand and shape it back into a open palm to shake her hand

"Sallec, never heard of a name like that. Now come on, let's find the kid who destroyed my bike!" Misty says as she runs ahead

I quickly follow suit, running after her.

"Hey, wait!"

We run until we see a city in the distance.

"He's probably over there in Viridian City. Come on." Misty points towards the city

"Viridian City, sounds familiar..." I mutter

"Sallec, look, there he is!" She points to a boy running towards the city

"Come on then! We have no time to waste!" I grab Misty's hand and drag her behind me

"H-Hey! Don't pull me like that!"

As we run towards Viridian City, we run past some sort of station that seems to be empty. We slow down.

"Sallec, w-wait, look at the ground."

I glance at the ground to see tire tracks.

"They seem to be heading towards the Pokemon Center." She states

"Hm, well, what're we waiting for, come on." I start walking ahead with Misty following

As soon as we get to the entrance, Misty barges in like a crazy person.

"There you are! I got you now!" Misty shouts

I run in after her to find her screaming at the boy.

"Oh, what happened to your bike there?" The kid asks

"You happened to my bike you little loser! This is what happened when you stole it to save your pokemon! Now I see- whoa!" Misty almost collapses, having been carrying that bike all this way

I put my hand on Misty's shoulder to keep her balanced, to which she sighs in relief and puts her bike down.

"I got you, there. Listen, with what I'm hearing, you sorta gotta pay her back for the bike." I say

"Yeah, what Sallec said!" Misty replies

"I'm sorry, but I can't really do anything until-" the kid gets cut off by Misty

"Enough with the lame excuses! I just want a new bike now!" Misty starts shouting

"Calm down, no need to make yourself look like a jerk." I pat her shoulder

"Listen, it's my Pikachu, he's not doing too good." He says, head down

"What? Is it serious?" Misty asks

"I don't know, probably. But there's nothing I can do but wait." He says

I walk up to the kid.

"Sorry about Misty here. I'm Sallec." I stick out my hand for him to shake it

"I'm Ash Ketchum of Pallet Town." He, Ash, shakes my hand

All of a sudden, a pink haired woman walks out of two doors beside us with a Pikachu on a medical bed.

"Pikachu, are you alright?" Ash walks up to what I presume is his Pikachu

"Your Pikachu's procedure went well, good thing you got it here so fast. It only needs a bit more rest until it's good as new." The woman says

"Thank you Nurse Joy." Ash thanks her

"You are very welcome. Try not to overwork your pokemon next time though." Joy says

"That's not what- nevermind..." he gives up

"Hey! Don't think I forgot about the bike you owe me!" Misty says

"Sorry, I'll try and make things right as soon as I can." Ash says

Wow, he isn't as much of a jerk as Misty put him out to be.

"I fell for that last time! Whatever, just take care of your Pikachu, we'll settle this later." She sighs

"Whelp, my job here is done. Misty, I would very much like my end of the deal." I say

"What? But we didn't get me a new bike!" Misty argues

"Our deal was to find the kid, or Ash here. Not to get you a new bike. Just give me the information on where I am so I can figure stuff out!" I argue right back

"O-Oh, right..." Misty says, seeming a little hurt

Ah, okay maybe that was a bit harsh... Ugh, I hate myself...

"Look, Misty, I'm sorry. I'm just-" the sound of glass breaking stops me

I turn around to see two pokeballs on the ground. All of a sudden, a giant snake and a toxic... underwater bomb? Well whatever it is, its unleashing some sort of smoke on us!

"What the-? Who are they?" Ash asks

"Don't be frightened, little boy." A woman's voice comes from the smoke

"Allow us to introduce ourselves." A man's voice now comes from the smoke

"To protect the world from devastation. To unite all peoples within our nation. To denounce the evils of truth and love. To extend our reach to the stars above." They both say

"The rhyming just gave me a headache... tone down the rhyme schemes, alright...?" I ask, putting a hand to my head

"...Jessie..." The red haired woman continues

"...James..." the blue haired one follows along

"Team Rocket blasts off at the speed of light..." Jessie says

"...Surrender now or prepare to fight..." James says

"...Are you done...?" I ask

"Meowth, that's right..." the... talking Meowth says...?

Then there's silence. Even the pokemon they sent in are silent.

"...What?" Ash speaks up

"Does he not get it?" Jessie asks

"How can I? You guys don't even make sense..." Ash responds

"Look, we're here for your pokemon." James sighs

"Ohhhhhh!" Me, Misty, Ash, and Nurse Joy say

"You're not getting Pikachu!" Ash suddenly shouts

"Pikachu? We're not interested in your pitiful electric rat." Jessie scoffs

"We seek only rare and valuable pokemon, unlike your Pikachu." James continues Jessie's statement

"You do realize this is a Pokemon Center, right? Meant for weak and injured pokemon? You're wasting your time." I state

"That may be true, but we'll just pick out the gems from the trash." Jessie says

"You're starting to bug me..." Ash says

"Oh look, the boys bugged."

"Meowth, then let's squash him!" Meowth pipes up

"Koffing, Ekans, attack!"

"Guys, we might need to-" Misty interrupts me

"Run!" She shouts

We run through the back, and into a back room filled with pokeballs. All of a sudden the lights go out.

"They must've cut the power!" Misty points out

"Don't worry, we have our own Pika power source." Nurse Joy states

Pretty soon, we have a bunch of Pikachu chanting while powering up the room.

"Crisis situation has risen. Initiating Emergency Pokeball transport sequence." A computer says

"This is the Viridian City Pokemon Center, we have an emergency situation. Transporting Pokeballs." Nurse Joy says

"Does stuff like this usually happen!?" I ask

"Not that I know of!" Ash replies

I notice smoke slowly seep in. I follow it and see it's coming from the door, which is currently being beating down right now. Very quickly, the door breaks down and we are met with the Seviper and Koffing in front of us.

"Guys! The door!" I say

"This means war, Ash, Sallec, grab pokeballs and throw them!" Misty says

"You got it!" I grab a random one off the shelf

"Alright, here we go, pokeball!" Ash throws a random one

"Pidgey?" I ask

The Pidgey then flies away in fear due to the literal giant snake in front of it.

"That won't stop us..." Jessie arrives with James next to her

"Dang it, looks like it's my turn!" I toss a pokeball, only for a Spearow to come out

As Pidgey just did, Spearow flies away in fear

"Once again, won't stop us." James says

Ash ends up throwing another pokeball, but it just appears empty. He throws yet another one, only for a Rattata to flee.

"Ugh, looks like it's up to me now! Ash, get Pikachu out of here!" Misty shouts

"Got it!" Ash runs over to Pikachu

"Sallec, take this!" She hands me a pokeball

I nod and throw it, revealing it to be a Staryu.

"Get the Koffing, I'll get the Arbok. We're gonna crush these clowns!" She continues

"That's pretty big talk from a little lady like yourself." Jessie states

"You're right about the pretty part, so thanks for the compliment." Misty replies

"The girl thinks she's pretty." James acknowledges

"I think she's pretty too. Pretty pathetic!"

Misty growls in anger and throws her pokeball. A... Goldeen? She quickly returns, which lets me to see her plan.

"Uhhh, that's her best shot?" The red haired rocket member asks

"She's all washed up..." James states

"You and I both know water pokemon aren't any good outside of water. I was just warming up!" Misty says

"What? How is that warming up?" Ash asks

"Just get Pikachu out of here!"

"Right!" Ash quickly runs out with Pikachu

"Now, Sallec!"

I throw the pokeball Misty handed me, a Staryu huh? Alright, I can get with this. We try our best to distract the Ekans and Koffing, but they get away and chase Ash. Pretty soon, we find that Team Rocket is following Ash completely, leaving us to put the pokeballs on the floor back onto the shelf so the robotic hand takes them to the transporter that takes them to another city I guess.

"Alright, that's all the pokeballs transferred!" I sigh

"What about A-"

*KABOOM*

Ugh... my everything...

I slowly get up and look around to see myself in a pile of rubble in the darkness of the night. I suddenly remember where I am, the pokemon center! I stand up quickly and start trying to get the destruction off of everybody. I find that the computer we used is still safe, but what about the others?

"Where's Ash and Nurse Joy?" A police officer pulls up in a Motorbike

"As far as I know, underneath everything." I state, finding Misty knocked out

I get all of the rubble off of her as the officer manages to find Nurse Joy and wake her up.

As I try to wake Misty up, Ash pops up with his Pikachu and a bunch of other Pikachu... what happened over there?

"Haha! That was awesome Pikachu!" Ash exclaims

"Ow, my head..." Misty groans

"Good, you're awake. Are you alright?" I ask helping her to her feet

"Yeah, I'm fine..." She says as she stands up all wobbly like

I catch her before she falls into the rubble that would've broken a bone or two. Surprised we aren't more injured from literally having wall and ceiling hit us.

"Woah, careful now." I say as I keep her balanced, to where she hold on to my arm to keep herself from falling

Ash heads over to us and asks if we're fine. We tell him we are and head towards Nurse Joy.

"I'm alright, thank you Officer Jenny." Nurse Joy says as she stands on her own

"So looks like they're gone. Are all the pokeballs safe?" I ask

"That's what I'm about to find out. I'll be good here on out, I doubt they're gonna come back." Joy states

"Ah great! I'm gonna challenge the gym here, so I'll see you guys later!" Ash says as he starts to walk away

"Actually, the gym here in Viridian City is closed. There is one in the next city over, Pewter City." Officer Jenny says

"Oh... looks like I'm heading to Pewter City then." Ash continues walking

"Hey! Ash, wait! You still owe me a new bike!" Misty runs after him

"So, what are you going to do Sallec?" Officer Jenny asks

"No idea, I mean, I just remember waking up in a forest outside of here and meeting Misty." I state

Wait... Misty!

"Actually, I think I know. Misty! Where's my information!" I run after her

Behind me, I hear Jenny and Joy laugh, which brings a small smile on my face.

"Misty! Hey, wait up!"

I eventually catch up, setting a hand on Misty's shoulder, scaring her in the process. Once she realizes it's me, she calms down.

"Oh right, forgot about our deal." Misty says

"Deal, what deal?" Ash pops up behind us, which confuses me since he was way ahead of us

"Oh, if I helped Misty track you down, I'd get information on where I am." I state

"You don't... know where you are?" He asks

"I know, it's weird. I met him in the forest outside Viridian and he didn't even know where he was. It's like he just woke up there." Misty says

"That's exactly what happened." I say

"Hm, then you probably have a family here we could find. You remember any family?" Ash continues

"I don't remember anything."

"Well, let's get the information bit done with or I'll feel bad about leaving you out here without any clue. You're in Kanto, we're just entering Viridian Forest to Pewter City, as you know. Are you a trainer? You seemed to know a bit about pokemon." Misty asks

"As far as I know, I don't have an occupation. That whole pokemon knowing thing just came naturally I guess." I rub the back of my neck

"Huh. I thought you were, you look like one anyway." Ash acknowledges

I realize I actually do. Jean's, black and white gloves (A/N: A lot like May's) a black T-Shirt, even a pokeball belt around my waist and around my shoulder.

"You sure your not a trainer?" Misty asks, crossing her arms

"I'm pretty sure." I sigh

I then realize I have Misty's pokeball still.

"Oh Misty, here. Forgot to give Staryu back." I hand her the pokeball

"Staryu! I almost forgot about you, sorry." Misty says

"Well, I'll be going now. You two have a good one, I'll try and find out who I am. Thanks for the info Misty, I'm going back to Viridian." I state, walking back

"W-Wait!"

I stop and turn around.

"What's up?" I ask

"Maybe you'd wanna c-come with? I mean, I'm gonna follow Ash until he gets me a new bike, so might as well have someone to talk to. Plus, you might find something in Pewter City that could give your memories back." Misty offers

Huhn, she's actually right. I could find out who I am and not be alone with my thoughts. I've learned that in the last few seconds that I think too much and will eventually drive myself crazy like I am now.

"Alright, sure, I'll join you guys to Pewter City. Also, I really wanna see Pikachu's power in action." I accept

"You hear that Pikachu, you got a fan already." Ash says

"Yes! Uh, I mean- Alright, cool. Let's head out now then!" Misty says

Chapter Two - Get Bugged​

"Eek!" Misty hides behind me

"What's up with you?" I ask

"Viridian Forest is filled with icky bugs..." She says

"Oh look a Caterpie!" Ash shouts from up ahead

Misty buries her face into my shoulder. She really must hate bug pokemon.

Ash throws a pokeball at Caterpie. It rocks three times before the button on it flashes red.

"Hey, nice job Ash, you caught it." I state

"Yes! I caught my first pokemon! Hey Pikachu, looks like you have a new friend." Ash exclaims

"As long as you keep it in its pokeball and away from me." Misty says

"Aw, you're not scared of a itty bitty bug, are you?" Ash teases

"Bugs get me all... bugged out! Even if it's in a pokeball!" She argues

"Alright, alright, calm down, both of you. Misty come on, you really hate a Caterpie?" I ask

"Y-Yes..." She admits

I just sigh.

This girl acts so mature too... ironic

"I mean, I like bugs, in or out of the pokeball. I love my Caterpie, imagine it in its pokeball, all cute and comfortable..." Ash starts snuggling the pokeball

"Takes a bug to like a bug..." Misty mutters

"Very funny, chill out Misty." I snap

Ash decides to introduce Caterpie to Pikachu.

"Alright, Caterpie, you're sticking with us." He says

"Wait, you don't mean-" Misty starts

"Come on out Caterpie!" Ash let's Caterpie free

Misty decides to run at the sight of Caterpie, hiding behind a tree.

"Really Misty? I swear, you acted so differently earlier..." I sigh

Caterpie goes over to Misty and nuzzles her leg.

"Get this disgusting thing away from me!" Misty shrieks

"You think Caterpie's disgusting?" Ash asks

Caterpie then looks down sadly, I guess Misty is hurting its feelings.

"Misty, you do realize pokemon have feelings too, right?" I cross my arms

"Ngh... I know, how about you be friends with Caterpie and I be friends with Pikachu." Misty suggests

Next thing you know, Pikachu is heading over to Misty.

"Nice try, Pikachu likes only me and zaps everyone else." Ash scoffs

"Uh, Ash, open your eyes." I say

"Wha- Pikachu!"

"Ash, put that slimy thing back in the pokeball! Bugs are one of the three most disgusting things in the world!" Misty states

"Other than you, what are the other two?" Ash asks

"Guys, seriously, calm down." I try, but am left being ignored

"Very funny, they're carrots, peppers, and bugs! Everybody has something they don't like and I don't like bugs!" She argues

"Counter argument, I can't remember what I don't like!" I state

"Other than Sallec." Misty adds

"That's better."

"Oh yeah? Well I like carrots, peppers, and bugs. What I don't like is the fact that you're hurting Caterpie's feelings with your silly fear of bugs." Ash argues

Ash then tries to cheer Caterpie up and let it on his shoulder. I walk over to Misty to get her to stand up.

"You got to feel a little bad." I pull her up off the ground

"Nope. Not one bit." She dusts herself off

I just give her this blank look.

"You're kidding. What if I said Starmie looked stupid or I have some irrational fear of fish with horns?" I ask

"I guess insulted... hurt mostly... so would Starmie and Goldeen..." Misty sighs

"Exactly, try to show some sympathy towards Caterpie." I state before walking back towards Ash

We start walking towards Pewter City without Misty, but she ends up tailing us.

"What's your problem? What're you following us for?" Ash shouts behind him towards Misty

"I'm still holding you responsible for my bike!" She shouts back

"When are you gonna get over that stupid bike?" He asks

"For your information, I wouldn't be following you if you hadn't stolen and destroyed it in the first place!"

"She got you there dude." I state

"And Sallec, you traitor!" Misty is now accusing me

"What? How?" I stop, turn around, and ask

"I offered you to come along so I could have someone reasonable to talk to, and you're just hanging around Mr. Pokemon Master!" She gets in my face

"And I accepted so I could find out what happened to me. Look, you're cool and all, but not everyone wants to talk to someone else. I wanna be left to my thoughts sometimes, y'know." I state

"Y-You... alright, fine. Good luck Sallec in your adventure. Ash, do whatever you're gonna do, I wasn't paying attention. I'm getting out of here." Misty says, obviously hurt by what I said

I just sigh and walk back to Ash.

"That was pretty harsh Sallec." Ash points out

"I know... wait, since when do you have a limit?" I ask

"Ah right, sorry."

We stay silent, just walking forward.

"You're still following us!" Ash shouts behind us.

"This is the fastest way out the forest!" Misty argues

"Alright, do what you want."

"That's what I'm doing."

Eventually, it gets dark and Ash suggests taking a rest here for the night. I agree, but Misty decides to do her own thing, still sticking close. I guess she doesn't want bugs to sneak up on her. Ash is the only one with a sleeping bag, so he's really the only one comfortable. He tried offering it to me, but I refused, after all, I have something to do.

"Tomorrows gonna be a big day guys. Let's get some sleep." Ash tells Caterpie and Pikachu

"We'd all get some sleep if you'd just shut your big mouth." Misty says

"Whatever, don't let the bed bugs bite." Ash says

I sigh and get up. I find Misty next to a stump just laying there. I sit down on it and tap on it to get her attention.

"Oh, Sallec... what do you want?" She asks, not even looking me in the eye

"Misty, come on, don't be like that..." I sigh

Misty just scoffs. Yep, still mad at me. I get off and lay down against the stump 90 degrees from her.

"Look, I'm sorry. I was just using you so I could find a way back to whatever life I used to had, that was selfish and I know that. I don't want anything bad to be between us, just as long as we can be cool again." I state

She doesn't respond. All I hear is rustling.

She's probably still mad. Whelp, I tried, I'm going back-

"No, I'm sorry. I know you want answers, I mean, I'd want them too if I were in your place. I've been the jerk, you just want peace. Truth is, I just want you around, otherwise it'd be Ash that offered you to come along. You're the rational one, I'm hotheaded, and Ash is... well Ash." Misty says, as she lays down next to me, head resting next to mine

"Yeah, I guess that's true. We cool?" I ask

"Yeah, we're cool."

We sigh in relief and stare at the sky full of stars.

"Hey Sallec?"

"Yeah?"

"You maybe wanna... go catch you a pokemon tomorrow so you don't have to rely on us?" Misty offers, glaring at me

"You serious?" I face her

"Yeah, why not?" She gives me a smile

"Heh, yeah. I'd like to do that. Maybe Ash could-" Misty cuts me off

"Actually, can we not have Ash join us? I don't want there to be any arguments that you have to stop." Misty says

"...yeah, sure.... so, just us, huh?" I say

"Yep..."

I can practically feel the heat radiating from her face.

Then, as if on some sort of cue, Misty yawns and immediately falls asleep. Only one thing though...

Why is her head on my shoulder!? Seriously, what is happening!?!?

After my mental panic attack, I just let her sleep. It's better this way, otherwise it'd be really awkward when I wake her up. Honestly, I don't want to deal with this right now, I mean we just made up. I yawn and close my eyes, trying to fall asleep.

"AHHHHHHH!!!"

My eyes open immediately, wondering what is happening? Oh... its morning already...

"What's wrong? What's happening?" Ash wakes up, moving around in his sleeping bag

Me, confused the most, looks around and sees Misty a few feet away, staring at me in fear. Ash is still looking around until his eyes land on me.

"Oh, looks like Caterpie is already warming up to you Sallec." Ash states

I then feel movement on my head- ohhhhhh!

"Huh, I guess you're right. Alright Caterpie, I'm about to get up, do you mind?" I ask nicely

Caterpie complies and moves onto the stump. I stand up and stretch.

"Oh your hair is all messy now..." Misty acknowledges

"Hm, that's fine, just gotta... there!" I fix my hair to how it was before

"Well, at least it wasn't in my hair..." she sighs

"Really?" I mutter, facepalming

"Oh come on Misty, you know Caterpie just wants to be your friend. It already likes Sallec and he's fine with it." Ash says

"It doesn't matter, if that bug wants to be my friend, it can stay away from me." She states

"Again, Caterpie has feelings too..." I say

Caterpie crawls away sadly, once again.

"Ugh, I can't believe you Misty! Caterpie means no harm and why it likes you, no one will know!" Ash argues

"Misty, come on. Really?" I ask

"Sorry Sallec..." Misty looks down, ashamed

Ash follows Caterpie as it crawls away sadly.

"Okay Misty, you owe Caterpie an apology! It has feelings too you know! Don't worry Caterpie, we'll show her." He says

We get ready and start walking down the path. All of a sudden, Ash spots a Pidgeotto.

"Woah, a Pidgeotto!" Ash pulls out a red box device that gives information on the Pidgeotto

"All right, here we go. Pokeball go!" Ash throws a pokeball at Pidgeotto

The pokeball lands, but Pidgeotto breaks out of it really easily.

"You don't just throw the pokeball, you have to weaken the pokemon first. The only reason you caught Caterpiethe first time is because it's already weak." Misty points out

"I know what I'm doing and stop picking on Caterpie. I'll show you, go Caterpie!" Ash sends Caterpie to fight Pidgeotto

I facepalm, knowing his mistake. Misty seems dumbfounded at it.

"You really don't know what you just did, do you?" I ask Ash

"What'd I do? Caterpie, attack!"

"Call Caterpie back!" Misty shouts

Ash calls back Caterpie and sends out Pikachu, who uses a Thundershock. It paralyzes Pidgeotto, letting Ash catch it.

"I am the greatest." Ash says to himself

"Not even trying to be modest..." I mutter

"No, you're the worst. You had no idea what you were doing there, it'll take you a million years to be a Pokemon Master!" Misty snaps

"Woah, okay, Misty, calm down..." I try and calm her down

"I'm trying to-" She interrupts Ash

"You should try to learn something about your pokemon and your strategy first! Pidgeotto is a bird, Caterpie is a worm! Birds eat worms!" Misty shouts

"Well if you try hard enough, it'll all work out, right?" Ash asks

"No-" I interrupt Misty

"Calm down! Jeez, you two bicker more than an old married couple and I didn't even know what that meant until I met you two!" I shout

Ash and Misty are quiet now.

"Thank you. Now, Ash, please try and use some logic, and Misty, we talked about this." I state

"R-Right..." She mutters

"Great, now that we have that over with, lets-" I get interrupted by some familiar laughing

"That voice..." Ash says as we turn to see the people I'm really starting to hate

"Great, another thing to deal with..." I mutter

Team Rocket do their rhyme introduction.

"We're kinda busy right now, so if you..." Ash starts

"Quiet boy, we're not here to listen, we're here for your pokemon." Jessie says

"More specifically, that Pikachu." James says

"This is mine, go catch your own!" Ash says defensively

"The only Pikachu we want is that one." Jessie says

"Kid, we're looking for the most valuable and rarest pokemon in the world." James says

"And your Pikachu fits that description perfectly."

"Is Pikachu really that special...?" I ask

"Your Pikachu's power impressed me!" Meowth says

"So make things easier and hand over that Pikachu." James says

"Forget it!" Ash states

"Looks like we have no choice..."

Team Rocket sends our their pokemon, Ekans and Koffing.

"Hey, two against one, that's cheating!" I protest

"Well, as we say, alls fair in love, war, and pokemon battle." Jessie states

"That's rotten and so are you." Ash states

"Of course we are, we're the bad guys." James acknowledges

"Seems like we're doing a lot of talking, less battling." I mention

"Quiet!" Both Jessie and James bark at me

"Whatever, they wanna use two pokemon, we're using two pokemon!" Misty says

"Wait, the Pokemon League rules say one pokemon at a time." Ash protests

"Ash, if you follow the rules, you're gonna lose your pokemon." Misty says

The battle starts. Koffing starts with a Sludge Attack. Ash sends out Pikachu and Pidgeotto, and had Pidgeotto use Wing Attack. Ekans dodges it by digging underground, but then pops back up and attacks Pidgeotto. Ash returns Pidgeotto and charges Team Rocket.

"You fool, only pokemon can fight in a pokemon battle." Meowth says

James knocks Ash back, causing me and Misty to facepalm.

"Ash, are you okay?" Misty asks

Ash nods and sends out Caterpie, even though its weak from fighting Pidgeotto. Caterpie uses String Shot to wrap string around Koffing and Ekans.

"Beaten by a Caterpie..."

"That really bugs me..."

"Alright then. Watch a real pokemon in action..." Meowth tries to attack, but falls to the same fate

"Alright, you loss. Bye bye now." I wave them off

"Its time Team Rocket blasts off." Jessie says

"You may have won this round, but we'll be back!" James says

"We'll be happy to beat you then!" Misty taunts

Once they leave, Ash starts celebrating.

"We did it! We did it! We won our first Pokemon victory fair and square! Caterpie, I'm so proud of you. You really did your best and we won because of you!" Ash congratulates Caterpie

"I'll admit, you're stronger than you look Caterpie." Misty states

"Sounds like you feel differently about Caterpie now, eh Misty?" I ask

"Well I..."

"Why don't you just make up with Caterpie and pat it on the head and tell it that it did a good job?" Ash recommends

"I guess you're right." She admits

All of a sudden, Caterpie starts using String Shot on itself, wrapping itself in string completely.

"What's happening?" Misty asks

I smirk, knowing exactly what's happening.

"Nice job Caterpie, you're definitely getting stronger." I state

Caterpie is now a Metapod, the evolved form of Caterpie. Ash scans Metapod with his pokedex, yeah, I asked him what it was.

Misty fills her promise to make up with Metapod and we start heading to Pewter City.

"Hey Misty." I slow her down along with me so we can talk

Oh-Oh, what's going on?" She asks

"I'm proud of you. You managed to be nice to a bug." I give her a smile

"O-Oh! T-Thank you Sallec... it means a lot." She says

"No problem." I start speeding up until I feel a hand on my shoulder

"Sallec, thanks for not waking me up. It was nice." She says before walking forwards

I freeze in place and stare at her walking.

What the-? Did she...?

I shake my head, snapping myself out of it. I catch up with Ash and Misty and we talk as we walk, heading towards Pewter City. Eventually, we get deeper into the woods, which causes Misty to shriek.

"You alright?" I ask

"I thought I saw another bug! Gross...!" Misty exclaims

"Maybe it's a Cowterpie!" Ash jokes

"That was terrible. Great joke." I say

"Not funny. You know I hate bugs- I think I see one over there!" Misty shrieks

"Oh look, a Weedle." I state

Ash uses his Pokedex to classify the Weedle.

"Ooh, a stinger! There's a challenge!" Ash says excitedly

"Why are you so excited over a bug with a stinger? Just make it go away!" She shouts

Ash then starts going on this spiel saying stuff like how a pokemon master can't let a Weedle escape and then tries sends out Pikachu, but turns out Pikachu is asleep.

"Really Pikachu? Taking a nap? Whatever, at least Metapod and Pidgeotto give me the respect I deserve." Ash says

"You deserve to have your head examined." Misty states

And with that, Weedle tries to climb onto her leg, but she notices and shrieks, hiding behind me.

"You might wanna catch it before Misty has a heart attack." I joke

"Have no fear! Ash is here! Pidgeotto, Gust Attack!" Ash commands Pidgeotto

The attack lands, leaving Weedle weak enough to catch.

"I wish all these bugs will just... bug off!" Misty mutters

"Then you're really gonna hate me for this." I smirk

"Wha-" I interrupt Misty

"Hey Ash, we're gonna scope ahead and try to catch me a pokemon! We'll be back in a bit!" I shout

"Oh alright, have fun!" Ash waves us off

I turn back to Misty, who is just giving me a dirty look.

"Don't say you wanna catch a bug..." she says

"Honesty, I might have to. Usually only Weedle, Caterpie, Metapod, Kakuna, or Pikachu are around here." I state, walking deeper into the forest

"Wha- how do you know this?" Misty asks, walking right beside me

"I... don't know..." I say

"Maybe all this adventuring is bringing back pokemon memories. Are you sure you're not a trainer?" She asks

"Seriously, I'm not. Or at least I don't remember." I repeat almost the same thing when she asked me that last time

"Well- AHHHH!"

I turn around to see a tree covered in Kakuna.

"Uh, Misty, I have a feeling you shouldn't be screaming..." I whisper

"Bugsbugsbugsbugsbugsbugsbugs! Get them away!" She hides behind me

I take a few steps back as all the Kakuna's eyes are fixated on us. I then grab Misty's hand and run in the opposite direction, dragging her behind me. We run into an open field and decide to relax for a moment.

"S-So many bugs in one place..." Misty mutters

"Snap out of it, at least we didn't attract anything overly dangerous." I try to calm her down

"Ha yah! Greeting oh shrieking maiden and her significant other!" A male voice emits from behind us

"Shrieking maiden?" Misty asks

"Significant other?" I ask, turning around to see some guy dressed like a samurai and is pointing a katana at us

"By chance, are any of you the pokemon trainer who comes from the Town of Pallet?" The samurai guy asks

"No, that's not me." Misty says

"Forest dweller here." I state

"My search continues. Oh, I advise you to refrain from shrieking while passing through this forest, unless you would like to attract hordes of wild Beedrill." He tells Misty as he walks away

"That was weird... I'm guessing the Town of Pallet is Pallet Town?" I ask

"Yeah, you're correct. Wait... Pallet..." She then shifts her gaze onto me

"That's Ash!" She says

"...oh... OH!!!"
