Thunder echoed through the house, jarring thirteen year old Tsuki Lucary from a dead sleep. As she stumbled out of bed, she became acutely aware of the sound of the herds of Tauros lowing near the house and the voices of her mother Carmilla and the farmhand, Mary talking somewhere near the kitchen.

"I swear if that oversized hamburger steak shoots fire at me one more time I am going to turn him into a barbeque!" Mary was saying, followed by the loud echoing sound of her mother's laughter.

"If you hurt Rufus Tsuki probably would actually punch you." Carmilla said just as Tsuki slowly got out of bed, slipping her shoes on and staggering toward the door in her half asleep state.

"What's going on?" She asked as soon as she entered the foyer near the kitchen, earning a look from Mary.

"Your dumb bull keeps shooting fireballs at the hay storage shed." Mary retorted, toweling her short dark hair dry "can you go see if you can get him to calm down or something? Anything?" Mary retorted, earning a look from Tsuki.

"I'm not even a trainer and I can handle a single Tauros when you can't." Tsuki quipped, grabbing her rain jacket from beside the door before letting herself outside.

No sooner did she do so, she questioned why on earth a fire type would be out in this weather as the rain stung like a thousand Beedrill through her jacket and nearly blinded her as she walked toward the back paddock where the storage shed was. As she grew closer she became acutely aware of how hot it was, that Rufus, the Tauros in question had been using flame thrower on the small metal building.

"Rufus! Enough! You're turning it into an oven!" The teenager shouted, earning a bellow from the pokemon as he trotted over to her, nuzzling against her before almost pushing her toward the shed.

"What is it boy? Is something wrong?" Tsuki asked, using the toe of her shoe to open the half ajar door only to gasp at what she saw.

There laying on the dirt floor of the building was a small houndour, it's body battered and it's breathing labored. Kneeling on charred dirt, Tsuki reached out to touch it only to feel that it's body was almost cool to the touch.

"Shit!" She mumbled, knowing that a fire type shouldn't ever be that cool. Taking off her rain jacket and wrapping around the bleeding dog-like creature Tsuki turned to Rufus.

"He needs to get to a center as soon as possible. Will you take us?" She asked the bull which bellowed on response before lowering itself to the ground so she could climb onto his back easier while carrying the houndour.

"Thanks boy." She said softly, patting his shoulder before holding onto some of the longer fur that made up his mane. "Take us around to the house, I need to tell Mom where I'm going."

Tsuki ignored the way the rain felt like pebbles biting her skin and eyes as the bull took off, slowing to a hault in front of the farmhouse.

"Mom! Mary!" Tsuki called once within hearing distance "I need to take this houndour into town! He's hurt bad!" She called, not even waiting for permission before motioning Rufus to move on.

Tsuki could barely hold on as the Tauros carried her and the houndour toward the town. The rain stung her eyes and she could feel the houndour's labored breathing against her chest as she tried to shield it from the rain.

"Just hold on...I'm getting you some help." She said to it before saying louder "Rufus, go the fastest speed that is safe."

The Tauros bellowed again before picking up speed, it's whip-like tails sometimes hitting her as it worked itself into a frenzy but she ignored the pain.

She didn't even wait for Rufus to come to a complete stop before leaping off him in front of the red-roofed building of the pokemon center. Slipping on the mud and again as she ran through the automatic doors she didn't notice anything or anyone until she quite nearly ran into a girl with dark red hair and amber eyes.

"Watch where the hell you're going! What the hell did you do to thst poor houndour?" The other girl demanded, however, Tsuki just ignored her, pushing past her and placing the houndour onto the counter in front of a young woman with pink hair and several piercings.

"You have got to help this houndour! We found him in our storage shed barely conscious and I rushed him here as fast as I possibly could." Tsuki explianed, earning a nod from the woman.

"You did the right thing....he seems to be in rough condition. I'll have more info once we get him in the back....Tyra, please get this young lady a towel and a tea or something. It's raining buckets out there." The woman instructed a girl with blue and black hair that was feeding a Dratani in one corner of the room.

"Gods, you sound like my mother. You've been working here too long Mollie." Tyra quipped before getting up and disappearing in the back.

Tsuki wasn't sure what to think before the redhead grabbed her arm, making her face her. "Is that your Tauros out there? He's a fire type you idiot, do you not realize how sick he could get from being out in the rain? Why don't you return him to his PokeBall?"

She demanded and Tsuki felt her blood begin to boil as hot as the fire that burned inside said Tauros.

"As if I don't know that?" Tsuki snapped, shoving her back "for starters I know his limits! See how the steam is rolling off him? He is using flame body to evaporate the water and keep himself dry. For two he has never been inside a pokeball!"

Amara took a full step back, opening her mouth to say something however Tyra returned before she could.

"Amara, cool it. Not everyone is like Orion." Tyra stated before turning to Tsuki, handing her the towel and a Styrofoam cup of tea before adding "ignored her, she's got a personality to match her Pokemon's abilities."

Amara sent a look at Tyra before retorting "at least let him inside! This is a pokemon center, not a five star restaurant!"

Tsuki rolled her eyes as she watched Amara storm over to the door and open it, earning a loud moo from the bull which preceded to lick her across the face.

"Ew! Gross! You're welcome but did you have to do that?" Amara grumbled, wiping her face with the sleeve of her jacket before glancing over at Tsuki "what kind of Tauros is this anyway? Aren't they supposed to be like flaming fighting machines?"

Tsuki just gave a shrug as Rufus made his way over to her, nuzzling against her cheek. "A domestic one? I don't know, he's been a friend since he was a baby."

Amara stared at them for several moments before tossing a red, black, and gold pokeball to Tsuki.

"he's definitely your partner pokemon...and you don't have to keep him inside the ball all the time. Very few trainers do." Amara stated before whistling, prompting a Ninetails that had been sleeping nearby to lift it's head up and look At her.

"That's mystic, my partner in crime." Amara said "And the only time she's in ball is if she's sick, hurt, or the weather sucks."

Tsuki glanced over at Rufus then down at the ball.

"I don't know, I don't consider myself a trainer. I just work on my mom's farm." Tsuki began, however, before anyone could respond Rufus nudged the ball with his nose, pressing the golden plated button and allowing himself to be caught in a flame like light.

"Looks like he decided for you." Amara quipped "names Amara Fylor by the way." She said, holding out a hand for Tsuki who sighed and accepted it.

"Tsuki Lucary....Sorry about almost running you over but that houndour was cooling off and fast. I had to get him seen by a healer." Tsuki replied, watching as Amara's eyes softened slightly.

"And I'm sorry for making assumptions....I come from a family of battle crazed idiots so I assumed a lot of shit." Amara said before glancing toward Tyra who was running a sponge over the Dratini.

"That's Tyra Meatus and the little quiet girl asleep against the primeape is Isha Lake. They're my best friends and Tyra's mom is the head healer at this center." Amara said before adding "Come on, you can sit over here with us while you wait for any information on your houndour."
