Occupational Pokemon Teams?

At the moment, I'm trying to make a team for a character that's essentially Indiana Jones, an archetype that has no shortage of use in lore-building, but I'm having a tough time getting a handle on what Pokemon they would use. I've got: A Rufflet that's exceptionally brave/hot-blooded even for a Rufflet, a short Ralts which is easily nicknamed Short Round, Nidoking as the boulder from the Temple of Doom, suitably nicknamed Doom-doom after the sound of its footsteps, and I'm torn between having a Ferrothorn or a Tangela to act as a whip for maneuvering and fighting. The last two spots I'm not so sure about, but I don't want to make them just the typical badasses you expect for the main character.
For context, in my WIP, the character gets wrapped up in a Gym Challenge based on a few clues from their missing family which leads to something strange about the arena for the regional conference, and has to collect all eight gym badges to get there.
Got some of those ideas from an old GameFAQs thread like all good ideas. (https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/boards/696959-pokemon-x/67906273)
In general, just talking about what Pokemon specific professions would have is a great thinking exercise and can really help with making the worlds you write look more alive. You know, farmhands with Mareep-herding Growlithe or Houndour and stuff like that.
