  • Thousand Roads has been around for six whole years! We're running a number of events to celebrate--check out drabble bingo, our mini review blitz, or TR writing buddies special prizes, going on for the whole anniversary period, and keep an eye on the announcement thread for updates as we add more to the lineup! Happy sixth birthday, TR!
  • Join us for a round of Speed Catnip, a lightning-fast feedback exchange! Swap short pieces of writing with your fellow community members to get quick feedback and sample bite-sized pieces of other people's works. Great for showing off your bingo drabbles, sharing a scene you're especially proud of, or getting feedback on a scene you're unsure of.

OOC: Hi everyone, I'm hoping you got your email letting you know this was up... sorry for how late in the day it's going to be...

Anyway here's the opening scene. Please fill in the blanks for your characters and we'll start bouncing off of each other and seeing how this is going to work. New people are welcome as this is an... audition piece but please post in Del's 2022 prep section first.

"You were busy doing -insert short explanation of what you were up to- with -important cast if applicable- but somehow someway... Between one moment and the other while your attention naturally wanders (you make a turn, blink, rub your eyes, clonk into a wall, the lights flicker, ect) where you are suddenly changed.

It's familiar... You've waited here before... (For meeting a friend, your other half, your boss, someone important) but it's not quite right. Despite dripping nostalgia, this version of the familiar leads you back to where you start no matter how you try to leave.

After a few rotations, laps, or moments just sitting still waiting, (feel free to describe the area you see around you) you realize you aren't as alone as you thought (cue other cast popping in) and in this place, with these people, there's this pervasive sense of "I'm waiting for something".

No one knows for who or what, but there's no rule about waiting quietly.
