My very first blitz since becoming a writer!

I've put maximum effort into my one and only fic:

TCG2: Doduo Adventures - Book One: TCG Island

BannerV2.png
  • Book One is Complete at 110k words & 39 chapters!
  • Blitz-friendly Chapters ~ 2.75k on average!
  • Comes with:
    • Lots of pixel art from the game!
    • Commissioned pixel and non-pixel art!
    • Optional soundtrack of over 200 tracks!
Summary:
In the world of the Pokemon Trading Card Game sequel for Game Boy Color, there is a new TCG Island Champion. A young gentleman so skilled, that his opponents now refuse to duel him! With the Pokemon TCG being his only true calling, he is forced to handicap himself by using a deck comprised of nothing but common cards! Follow this wayward Champion as he duels his way across TCG Island, making friends as he goes. A tale of card games, mystery, history, betrayal, friendship, danger, and ever-increasing stakes.

Rating: T

You'll like Doduo Adventures if you enjoy...
  • Angst
  • Card games
  • Pokemon from Gen 1 & 2
  • Mystery
  • Mythology
  • Humor
  • Friendship
  • Increasing stakes
Chapter/Arc Structure:
  • Intro, Prologue, & 1 = Opening (9.8k words)
  • 2-14 = Duels vs Club Members (35.7k words)
  • 15-23 = Duels vs Club Masters (19.2k words)
  • 24-30 = Climax (21k words)
  • 31-33 = Epilogue (10.5k words)
  • 34-38 = Bridge to Book Two (10k words)
Drinking. Drunkenness. Nudity. Mild physical violence. Effects of gambling addiction. Mind-replacement without consent. Abduction. Drug use to cause unconsciousness. Death.(Warnings are fic-wide. Not all books will have all referenced content.)

Bonus:
If anyone new to Book One reviews my Prologue and Chapter 1 from now (pre-blitz) until the end of the blitz, I'll guarantee a review back for a fic of their choice. Stipulations:
  • Must be a Pokemon fic (Ask for exceptions)
  • Not M-rated (Exceptions on case-by-base basis)
  • Chapter must be less than 10,000 words.
  • Must be the prologue or earliest chapter I've not reviewed yet.
Bonus reviews will likely be delivered after the end of the blitz, but I might complete some prior to that.

Bonus offering is because my Prologue is 4.3k and Chapter One is 5k which are almost the largest chapters in the book. Chapters after those (2-22) are small, 2.37k on average, making my fic an ideal blitz target! Also, anyone who reviewed only the old version of my fic is eligible for the bonus reward.

Feedback/Concrit:
I'm always craving feedback, so check it out! I adore reviews, but please limit concrit to no more than 80% of total review words. I need at least a little praise, you know?

Review Exchanges:
If anyone is looking for an exchange, just let me know and we'll work something out! Review Exchange Thread post for me is here.

What began earlier this year in March as a written lets-play, with self-indulgent absurd humor sprinkled on top, soon careened into full-blown fanfiction!

I had no idea what was happening at first... Apparently there was a little writer inside me screaming to get free. I obliged.

I was convinced the ideas resulting from it had the potential for greatness, so I determined TR would be the best place for it after some research. The prologue was initially like a list of cliff-notes.

Thankfully, I managed to get feedback, which was immensely helpful! After countless hours on reviews, thinking, writing, and editing, I finally went back to my Prologue and gave it a complete makeover as it's very own book: Book One! This matches the level of quality I originally sought out to make, but I am always open to suggestions for further improvement.

Book One was just the Prologue of my original fic. Book Two will be posted soon as a re-post of the rest of the original. I'm making the fic into a series! Book Three is half written, and I guaranteed have plans to write Book Four!
These aren't meant to detail everything for everyone. I just wanted to put them together to give thanks!

@K_S
A most amazing beta reader and friend who has helped me find my bearings as a fledgling writer as this is my very first and currently only fic. K_S has helped me improve far faster than I ever would have on my own. K_S is capable of reviewing at a fast pace, is great at picking out things to revise or words to cut, and offers a great amount of depth in reviews!

@Blackjack Gabbiani
Blackjack gave me one of my fist substantial reviews. My fic back then wasn't written as well as it is now but Blackjack focused on being reactionary and and showing some real interest. The reviews from them aged like fine wine. Early encouragement is so important to a new writer.

@Negrek
Speaking of encouragement, Negrek reviewed several chapters of my original fic. Some of those didn't even require reviews in exchange! What a way to make someone truly feel welcome on TR! But Negrek also provided several bits of useful advice without being harsh or negative. This made it so easy for me to implement the advice without feeling like I was being attacked or ridiculed. It is my hope that Negrek will return someday to check out my Book One. I've grown a lot since then and more reviews would be immensely welcome.

@ShiniGojira
Shini helped me learn how to fix a ton of recurring grammar and spelling errors in my writing. Not only that, but he helped provide resources and examples too! Beyond that, Shini has provided many insightful, thought provoking, and enjoyable reviews.

@Umbramatic
Umbra's reactionary reviews are always a treat. Sometimes an author just wants some good reader reaction with excitement, humor, and minimal critique. Umbra delivers on those. Probably a good gauge of how lurkers react while reading the fic. Through Umbra, I feel like I get to know my unseen audience a little more.

@candycanearter07
He was around for a while and gave me some decent reviews and even beta read some for my Book One! Maybe I'll see him around again?

@Spiteful Murkrow
Spiteful gives the most in depth reviews on the forum and probably only shares his weight class with Venia Silente in that regard. One of the only authors to ever provide any feedback on my soundtrack. Spiteful's reviews can be highly useful for improvement as well. Spiteful's first review for me was a wake up call about the quality of the original version of my fic. That it still had a significant way to go. I used that feedback to improve and Book One now has significantly higher quality than the original. On Spite's second review for me, I was a little more prepared and the review was about significantly more than what I could do to improve.

@Nekodatta
Almost the only other author to provide commentary on my soundtrack even if only for the first review. Nekodatta also helped me to wake up to improve the quality of my fic in the areas I had been avoiding. In particular, the duels. She has also started to review my Book One which has implemented the changes she helped to inspire. The result is reviews that can now focus on more positive aspects.

@Astinus
If not for K_S, Astinus would be the farthest in my Book One in terms of content read. He reviewed several chapters and beta read several more. He has yet to read only the last four chapters. Astinus has been great at catching spelling/grammar/editing errors as a beta reader. But the most significant aspect of reviews from Astinus is that they were offered without the need for exchange. No other author has offered so many of these. I look forward to when Astinus returns to complete reviews through the end of Book One.

@Joshthewriter
Provides the most outspoken and charged reviews. And yet, he somehow avoids negative vibes even while providing concrit. The result is reviews that are both helpful and sure to be a good time.

@canisaries
Wants to provide buckets of concrit but holds herself back to be kind. Has reviewed multiple chapters of my fic for catnip when she could have legitimately limited them to one chapter at a time. Her willingness to go beyond is greatly appreciated!

@Venia Silente
Delivers some of the most satisfying reviews on the forum. Takes a while but is so worth the wait! I eagerly await the 2nd half of the first review!

@Goolix (was bestgaragedoors)
Excellent at pointing out big general things to fix even after all the work I've already put into the fic. Has a special talent for character analysis.

@Flyg0n
Has already reviewed several chapters in my Book One. Great on timing, depth, and positivity. No review from Flyg0n has failed to brighten my day.

@FanFictioner144
Reviews at a faster pace than everyone else but myself! Fic144 delivers a fair amount of depth too! The only author to give me consistent commentary on my soundtrack. Has a sharp eye for pointing out editing errors and keeps things positive!

Tango (because why not throw myself in here too?)
I've tried to model my review style off of a mix of Spiteful Murkrow and K_S. I don't quite provide the level of depth or concrit insight that Spiteful does, but I still offer a respectable amount. I tend to be bold on what I like and don't like and always try to find things to gush about too. A review from me should leave an author feeling assisted(at least to the extent that I can), respected, and valued.

It's amazing to see how everyone has their own nuances when it comes to reviews!

Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Path of Valor
SOON TO BE COMPLETED!

Synopsis:
When a dreepy princess, two classmates, and their servants are sucked into an alien world ruled by a tyrannical deoxys, they kickstart a disastrous chain of events stretching further than they can possibly imagine. Can they unravel the mysteries at their heart of their world or will everything fall to oblivion?
Type: Epic, in-progress
Average chapter length: 4-4.5k words

My main project. An original PMD fic with a twist: it draws from the main line games, anime, and Pokéspec manga. Heavy emphasis placed on concepts introduced in Sword/Shield, Legends Arceus, and Scarlet/Violet. Yes, there are mystery dungeon, but the A plot shapes up closer to a journey fic with expies of badges and other key items that mark protags' progress in such stories. It's a fic with a diverse cast of characters who have to learn to lean on one another as they fight for their futures. A story about what it truly means to live.

This fic is drafted in its entirety and will be updated weekly during the Blitz. Barring any unforeseen IRL events that prevent me from updating, this is the final Blitz Path of Valor will be an in-progress story for. I have seen several of you say something to the tune of "Man, I should really read this!" or "I need to read this!" or some variation on Discord and then never follow through. So, consider this your call-out. Now's your chance to dive in as the fic runs toward its finale. It would mean a lot to me. It's got plenty of chapters, so it's not only ripe for multi-chapter bonus points but for the catch-up sprint week 2 theme!

Assorted, Completed One-Shots

"Free to a Loving Home"
Synopsis: Rumor has it that the theft of top-secret research notes led to a new instance of this pokémon being created in the Galar region.
Word count: ~7k

My submission for the 2023 one-shot contest. Mixed reviews from the judges as it did not really adhere to the "myths and legends" theme of the contest. I was focused more on the "bizarre artificial life form" part. But if you have no interest in PMD or large chapter fics, maybe you'll get something out of this one.

~

"Restarting"
Synopsis: Following his unplanned return home, Gladion must confront one of the worst decisions he made before leaving.
Word count: ~5.3k

An old Serebii one-shot contest submission from 2017. I do not consider it a representation of my current writing abilities, but if you like fluff pieces about everyone's favorite Alolan Silver SuMo edgelord, give it a look.

~

"Dark Winter Night"
Synopsis: On the night of the Winter Solstice, Darkrai gets an unexpected visitor and questions whether they really need to be alone.
Word count: ~1.8k

An old gift one-shot from 2019. Again, I do not consider it a representation of my current writing abilities, but if you want a short fluff piece about a certain brooding lord of nightmares, here you go.

~

"Plan for Progress"
Synopsis: Espeon has spent a week trying to pass through a dungeon and get a gift for her brother, Umbreon. But each attempt has ended in failure. After her latest defeat, her frustrations get the better of her and she ends up in an argument with Umbreon. Will the two be able to reconcile or has a permanent rift formed in their relationship?
Word count: ~3.5k

An old PMD: Gates to Infinity gift one-shot written in 2018. Another short fluff piece, but this time it's eeveelution flavored!

Hello, hello! I have a three-fic series completed on my site, but I'm still in the process of posting the first to Thousand Roads. I'm uploading pretty often, since there's a lot to get through, so keep an eye out for more!

1766334662542.png
Art by Corvaeon!

An amnesiac Vaporeon wakes up at the end of an unfamiliar dungeon. As the stress begins to unravel her, a dangerous conspiracy unravels around her.

Statistics:
  • Total Length: 38K words
  • Acts: Six; Chapters: Twenty-Nine
  • Average Chapter Length: 1.3K words
  • Art: One cover, one after each act
You might like this book if you enjoy:
  • Dialogue-heavy, script-style stories.
  • Dramatic, slow-burn mysteries with a focus on exploration.
  • Tragic characters and frankly poor decision-making.
  • Pokémon!
You might like the series as a whole if you enjoy:
  • Ensemble casts of mortals and legendaries.
  • Metaphorical and otherwise atypical patterns of narration.
  • Themes of cyclical trauma and overcoming the flaws and decisions of those who came before us.
  • Pokémon!
You might prefer reading on my website if you want:
  • The complete series, the last book of which has yet to be posted elsewhere. (I'm working on it!)
  • Colored text to help distinguish between dialogue, and versions without the altered speech patterns that can be tricky to read.
  • Extra lore and scenes, in bonus epilogues and an ask blog.
  • Fan art!
What kind of feedback I'm looking for:
  • Whatever strikes you to say is welcome, of course, but I prefer a little less concrit on Frost Spirals specifically. I'm still proud of it, but I know it's not as strong as my more recent works! Still, anything would be good! Even just "I've read this much but didn't have any specific thoughts" would mean more than I could express. Thank you!

A tale of rebirth. Of the past, present and one day, the future.}

The Cake is Ready [$3k]
Character study blended with angst and drizzled lightly with music based on an excerpt from the AQ forum rp.

Heya, wasn't quite first over the line for self-shilling this year, but I figured that it was another chance to trot out an old companion with mine to do some shilling work for me:

Why not review something by ? He's got

Dragonspiral's Children - 90k words of cutesy slice-of-life starring man-sized agamas with wings and families with literal placeholder names. Also, Halloween extras with wizard lizards and anniversary epilogues spent skulking around Dragonspiral Tower.

Context Switch - 22k words of easy reviewing points Game Freak making "Pokémon games" in the Pokémon world and more game beta and programming easter eggs than you can shake a stick at.

Fledglings - 1.2 million and counting words of a little big bird stumbling into a little big Rescue Team in a little big PMD world that's a solid "7.8 - Too Much Water". Also starring a spinoff consisting of 57k words about Cheeriest Cranidos™

[NO AUDIO] - 6300 words of found footage format story following perfectly normal™ gas stations just south of Eterna City and the perfectly normal™ attendant that works there.

Also qualifies for the Week 3 bonus.

Once a Thief - 390k and counting words about three PMD Outlaws getting seriously in over their heads and getting into a cross-region pursuit arc with the strangest Axew they've ever met. Oh, and Xenoblade references.

Hunting Game - 9600 words of a Flygon wholesomely helping her trainer on her day job destroying other Pokémon's lives. Wholesomely in a second-person perspective. /s

Also qualifies for the Week 3 bonus.

Like a Dragon - 55k words of easy reviewing points 15 one-shots about "unusual dragons" doing dragony things. Wholesomely in a second-person perspective, but unironically. Mostly.

Village Pokémon - 42k words of PMD fare with a Hidden Elf Village dynamic and a secret for keener-eyed readers to suss out as they go along. Spread across 6 chapters for 2 fairly easy-to-earn repeat bonuses.

Just West of Paradise - 19k words of easy reviewing points 9 bite-sized chapters showing life in Post Town through the eyes of its Kecleon shopkeep.

Grounded - 37k and counting words of Hurt/Comfort and Slice of Life following a Salamence's very inauspicious start to Salamencehood and attendant flight challenges while sitting in on an amateur tournament.

Fixed Paths - 12k words of N's Sigilyph telling N his species equivalent of a life story where thar be dragons and memories of ancient civilizations long-buried in the sands. Wholesomely told in a non-standard first person perspective about wholesome events such as the Great Unovan Barbecue. /s

I'm also open to doing review exchanges, too! I will generally prefer doing roughly word-for-word exchanges for reviews and am fairly flexible about what I'll give and receive in return. Thus far, the following users have entered into review exchanges with me either just before or during this Review Blitz:
Also, as has become a bit of a tradition of mine, I'll be making a point of attempting to reciprocally review anyone who drops me a review on my stories even if it takes a while. So if you still needed a reason to check out my fare this year, there's that, too.

Hello, hello~! I just recently joined the forums, and I'm very excited to be participating in this blitz and check out everyone's fics! ദ്ദി(˵ •̀ ᴗ - ˵ ) ✧

Self-promo wise, I have my one and only Pokemon fanfic, International Celebrity Ruins Everything, a Pokemon Legends: Z-A rewrite/re-imagining with Serena taking the place of the player character. As I dub it, the most chaotic attempt at revising the PLZA plot, elevating the narrative, boosting the existing game themes, and giving the characters more depth! My fic is cross-posted on AO3 here, so you might have seen it there, but is new to the forums. I'm working on porting over the rest of the existing chapters to this site.

I'm working on finishing up some art for the fic, so that will be coming soon as well!

I'm unashamedly someone who loves and thrives off comments, so I'd be thrilled to hear your thoughts on the fic! I am open to any and all kinds of comments be it reactions, random thoughts, reviews, short, long, etc, etc!

International Celebrity Ruins Everything Summary:

At 13, Serena became the Kalos League Champion, rocketing her into stardom, fame, and glory. Unable to settle down permanently in Kalos just yet, possibly (probably) due to trauma, Serena heads to Hoenn under the guise of studying the origins of Mega Evolution, only briefly returning to Kalos to handle Champion affairs when absolutely needed.

Five years later, after seeing a very odd promotional video for Hotel Z, Serena is stunned. AZ, the 3,000-year-old giant homeless senile war criminal who interrupted her Champion parade, owned a HOTEL?! Serena decides that a stay in Lumiose is in order immediately. What was supposed to be a drop-in visit quickly spirals into another massive undertaking, featuring a wide array of new and fun colorful megalomaniacs, and training a brand new team.

At least this time, it was just the fate of Lumiose on the line, not the destruction of the entire world and every life form on it. Small victories.

Hi all! This year I'm separating my Promo post into Chaptered and Non-Chaptered works, then further dividing it up into three categories: PMD works, Other pokemon works, and Non pokemon works. This should be pretty self-expanatory.

Chaptered Works

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon
Places We Call Home is my primary fic. It follows Haru, A hard working and Stubborn Bidoof, and Nip, a Sneasel with a troubled past present as they struggle to navigate life as their worldviews are shattered and danger beyond their comprehension rises. This is on the darker side, so if you like pmd works with a bit of a darker setting than canon, this might interest you!

Non-PMD/mixed misc Pokemon
My Blacklight Prize Oneshot collection has two 1k word short stories that are quick and easy to review.

Drabble Bingo 2025 - has 3 short fics ranging from about 350 to about 1k words. Mix of pmd and mainline/general pokecentric.

Non-Pokemon

Those Who Were Left Behind is a Deltarune AU following the character Ramb after he gets returned to Cyber City approximately 6 months prior to the events of the game. With nothing to his name, he seeks the help of an old friend and finds himself caught up in the middle of the ongoing conflict between Spamton and Swatch. Currently in the process of being crossposted, about 65k words at this time.

The Heart of a Hero is an AU of Ocarina of Time in which Link is slightly older when he's brought to the forest, but he ends up lost and becomes a skull kid. While it follows the basic plot beats of OOT, there are some notable differences, including a big shakeup about halfway through the story. 10 chapters are posted here currently, but this is a complete story offsite, clocking in at about 230k words. If it gets reviews over here, I would see about porting the rest of it.

Origin is my attempt at a reimagining of the webcomic Bravoman, trying to piece it into a more coherent story rather than a series of one-off pages. It follows nerdy salaryman Hitoshi Nakamura, a back-office insurance worker, as he stumbles across an alien that grants him superpowers. Currently about 8k words.

Windskull's Whumptober 2025 - A mix of fics from various fandoms that are heavily angst or whump based. Fandoms include Deltarune/Undertale, Kirby, Pokemon, Bravoman, and Sonic. Most of them are not interconnected, so you can pick and choose what interests you the most!

Oneshots

PMD
Perigee is a short story about a clefairy visiting her old home. Only about 700 words!

Day By Day is a story about a Buneary dealing with trauma and grief, written in the form of journal entries. It was originally written for TR's 2024 oneshot contest, and placed second in its flight.

General/Mixed Pokemon
The Way to Cinnabar is a short fic about a trainer and his rhydon as they try to figure out how to cross the ocean to reach cinnabar. About 700 words.

Seeking Chivalry, a story about a Farfetch'd's encounter with Celebi.

My Drabble Bingo Collection (2022-2023) has several short and easy to digest drabbles, each at 100 words!

Non-Pokemon
I have two Namco High oneshots, A Little Less Lonely, and What's a Name to a Science Experiment. The former is a short romance story about two young adults aware that they're trapped in a timeloop while everyone else goes through the same motions around them time after time. The latter is a coming out story that is fairly friendly to coming in fandom-blind.

*I do have a few other fics floating around that you're free to review, but I am not actively seeking reviews on them.

Sliding in here with a self-promo of my own! Including some more things I've written over the course of this year!

Chaptered Fics

Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Dual Wills

A 350k-ish longfic featuring Arian, an amnesiac Riolu, and Elvira, a melancholy Treecko, as they battle against an oppressive tyrant who's taken over their home country of Selenia. A medieval fantasy-esque setting with inspiration from Fire Emblem and Xenoblade, with a big cast, backstories and worldbuilding galore.

PMD: Dual Wills - Paralogues

All finished with Dual Wills but still itching for more? Then this exists: a little collection of small oneshots taking place in Ardalion, the world of Dual Wills, featuring characters from that story. Mainly a place where I dump my ideas that wouldn't otherwise fit into the story, or that expand upon Dual Wills' characters.

The Cool Breeze Upon the Mist

A full drabble collection with nine chapters! This series of small drabbles (about 1.5k-3k or so each) takes place in the same Gates to Infinity-verse that A Rock and a Heart's Place takes place in, and expands on that world a little bit more through small slice-of-life snippets with a number of Paradise's citizens and what they've gotten up to two years after the events of Gates to Infinity.

Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Prelude in Darkness

An ongoing fic that takes in an PMD: Explorers of Sky bad ending, where, without a human to save the collapse of time, we see what ends up happening to Vulpix Nina in the Dark Future, and the turmoil that forges her into a cynical, depressed Ninetales forced to endure the curse of her kind's slow aging and the endless pursuit of Primal Dialga and his henchmon. All seems helpless for her, that there's no way to escape the world's shackles of darkness...until she meets a strange creature accompanied by a Grovyle.

Currently ongoing. I have five chapters, mostly sub-4k with one 7k chapter thus far, but I plan to update over the course of the Blitz.

Oneshots

A Rock and a Heart's Place

A 7.8k-word oneshot that takes place in the world of PMD: Gates to Infinity, where Rampardos Feldino, Post Town's resident Box Buster, grapples with his feelings for Cinccino Alva, the owner of the Gift Shop. Fluffiness and feelings of love abound in this one, so if you like that sort of story, as well as canon PMD, this might be right up your alley.

The Last Baron

A 7k-word oneshot that features Zeraora Skye battling to defend their dying lord and lover's manor from a horde of Savages and their king with mysterious powers. This oneshot's a bit more grim with blood, death and warfare in it, and tragedy in love as well.

Truths and Reflections

Trainerverse content for once! A 7.4k-word oneshot featuring Reshiram and N, as they reminisce on the past together, both of their battle with Zekrom, as well as Reshiram's storied history. Fans of Unova and the Tao Trio might be interested by this one.

Have fun with them, whichever you choose to sink your teeth into. All reviews will be appreciated. <3

Might as well! This is just... the same as last year, hah.

In general, I appreciate all feedback, but specific preferences per-story are noted below. I'm generally especially interested in thoughts on the characters in a story, whether their actions feel like they make sense from their point of view in the story, and how you perceive them - but also stuff like structure (did anything drag?), little details you noticed, anything that gave you pause as you were reading, any sentences that confused you or otherwise disrupted your reading experience, and so on.

Standalone One-Shots

butterfree-cover-new-png.18482

Butterfree (one-shot)
Trainers aren't supposed to have favorites, but you were my favorite. And then you started losing.
A story about Butterfree, a trainer, avoidance, guilt, communication, and forgiveness.
Feedback preferences: Anything goes. I'm particularly interested in thoughts on how the narrator's internal journey comes across, and whether their and Butterfree's actions feel coherent and understandable.

curse-cover-png.18483

Curse (one-shot)
"That move. Curse. How does it work?"
Aspiring champions Kari and her Dragonite get their hands on the Curse TM, and it doesn't go quite like they hoped.
Feedback preferences: Anything goes. I'm interested in how well it got across what's going on (i.e. how Curse works in this universe) and thoughts on Kari and Dragonite as individuals and their relationship.

go-cover-png.18484

Go (one-shot)
I blinked at it, hard, expecting it to be some kind of early-morning hallucination. Obviously. I mean, Pidgey weren’t real, right? It was a game, a stupid little mobile game that I’d installed when I was bored.
What if Pokémon Go was secretly created to prepare Earth for an interdimensional accident where Pokémon are warped into reality? 2016 nostalgia made manifest.
Feedback preferences: Don't examine the premise too closely, but otherwise I appreciate all feedback, especially on whether the narrator's relationship with Pidgey resonated and whether the story generally lands.

2024-12-04-blondie-png.18486

Hung Up (The Good, the Bad and the Ugly one-shot)
The rope hangs loose, not even touching your skin, but your throat is tightening anyway, squeezed by phantom fibers.
A character study of Clint Eastwood's character 'Blondie' in Sergio Leone's 1966 spaghetti Western The Good the Bad and the Ugly.
Feedback preferences: Anything goes. In particular, tell me if the character progression makes sense to you.

Morphic
morphic-cover-png.18485

My 2007-2010 Pokémorph fic and its spinoffs.
Morphic (rewritten version, chaptered, unfinished)
Vulpix genes, instructing a human skull to form canine teeth. It was a fucking breakthrough.
The improved rewrite of the original Morphic, a story of a team of scientists who create Pokémorphs in the name of medical research, are forced to keep and raise the resulting children, and the religious fanatics who want to murder them.
Feedback preferences: Anything goes.

Morphic Shorts (vignette collection)
Dave peered at the X-rays of Mia’s arms. There it was – the unmistakable bright metal edge along her ulna, brighter towards the elbow. Fuck yes.
A collection of vignettes from the world of Morphic.
Feedback preferences: Anything goes, but bear in mind these vignettes are not really meant to stand on its own without the main fic - I don't think it's by any means incomprehensible without it, and I'd be interested to hear impressions from readers who haven't read Morphic, but critique should take into account that it's not intended to be your first introduction to this world and characters, so I'm not planning to make any changes geared toward easing in readers who haven't read the main fic.

Groundhog Dave (three-shot timeloop whumpfic)
Just taking a nap wasn’t enough to fast-forward to the next iteration. As best he could tell, after a few goes, it looped over at six AM. If he was awake by then, he’d just blink and find himself waking up on the sofa again. He restlessly accompanied the others to hospitals, nauseous as he identified Mia’s body for the fifth or sixth time, waiting to just get to sleep already so he could try again.
Another spin-off of my Pokémorph fanfic Morphic, this time featuring Dave trapped in a time loop on the worst day of his life.
Feedback preferences: This is a whumpfic and overthinking the actual plot would be somewhat counterproductive. Tell me if something's really distracting you, but no need to try to pick nits with that. I'm just here to have fun tormenting Dave. On the other hand, I would be very interested in what you make of the characterization and character progression.

Morphic: New and Improved (April Fools' Day one-shot)
“We’re Pokémorphs,” the girl said, her face and voice still unsettlingly nonchalant about the situation. “Team Rocket injected Pokémon DNA into us and now we’re half Pokémon. It’s weird because that’s not how DNA works. I tried to ask Dave about it but he was very evasive.”
The Better(tm) reboot of my Pokémorph fanfic, now with more 2006-era clichés. Morphic is not required reading, but some things will be more meaningful if you have read it.
Feedback preferences: As an April Fools' Day fic, don't take this too seriously, and I have no plans to rewrite it, but I would love to hear about your impressions of it anyway.

Other

tqftl-cover-png.18487

The Quest for the Legends (77 chapters, completed)
The story of an ordinary boy on an impossible quest in a world that isn't as black and white as he always thought it was.
The trainerfic that I started when I was twelve, rebooted when I was fourteen, and completed at 28. The first 31 chapters or so are often deeply silly, in a fun enthusiastic whump-loving teenage journeyfic writer way, and then it gets less silly from there. Featuring: a boy recruited to save the world by a neurotic legendary, his variously messed-up Pokémon team, an angry girl determined to be Champion, and the fallout of a murder. 77 chapters plus prologue, most of them not super long especially early on.
Feedback preferences: This story is old and I'm well aware of most of its flaws. Treat it as a fun enthusiastic teenage trainerfic romp and don't take it too seriously for the first half; by all means do line reactions and poke fun at some of the nonsense, and talk about your general impressions of the characters/plot/world, but please don't waste your time on serious critique or suggesting prose edits; it's extremely old writing that is not remotely representative of how I'd write anything today, and the next edition of the story will be a full rewrite with major structural and plot changes and absolutely none of the same prose. For the second half, you can transition to somewhat more critical commentary if that's your jam, but extensive line edits and such would remain probably redundant - again, I don't really plan on keeping this prose, though it's more likely for later chapters that I might have chunks that are similar or the same. (If you have general tips for me in the prose department based on later chapters, though, go ahead.)

nightmare-smirking-png.18488

Sutoraiku High (Scyther dating sim)
A visual novel about drama, friendships, prejudice, bullying, total societal upheaval, and high school romance.
Have you always wanted to date a Scyther? Overthrow authority with a revolutionary-minded Scizor? You have come to the right dating sim. Originally an April Fools' Day joke but then took itself pretty seriously, with a sequel Sutoraiku Legends that counts as another chapter.
Feedback preferences: Take the nonsensical setting in the tongue-in-cheek spirit in which it is intended, but within that, would love to hear what you think of the characters and routes.

Goolix

Bug Catcher
I've only got one fic at the moment, but I'd love to get feedback on it!

NEO-A-LIFE

Cassandra is a neurotic failed academic blogging about Porygon. Emily is a Rustboro mining heiress with a chip on her shoulder. When the two women start a company to mass-produce custom Porygon, they find out how easily ambition turns into recklessness - and what it costs to stay one step ahead of the system.

Who should read?
People who like taking the Pokemon world too seriously
Anyone who has spent any time around the tech start-up world
Porygon enthusiasts
Enjoyers of psychological fiction
Likers of soft science fiction
Would-be investors in NEO-A-LIFE

What feedback am I looking for?
Whatever you think is important! This is a lightly edited first draft and so I'm interested in whatever sticks out to you. Line edits, characters, plot, worldbuilding, vibe - it's all fair game.

How far along is it?
I have eight chapters written and will post the remainder during the Blitz! The plot skeleton is plotted out.

And as for me... with it reaching its completion, I'd like to promote my finished longfic:

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Hands of Creation

Hands of Creation, or HoC, is my first longfic, very recently completed. I'm quite proud of it! And I hope that now that it's finished, others will be able to start reading it without fear of it never finishing--a common and reasonable fear for any long story. If you like JRPG tropes like high power scaling, an emphasis on friendship and trust, and clever use of strong abilities, you may enjoy HoC.

If you like themes of identity, memory, change, the many forms of family, and the balance between forgiveness and rejection, HoC may also appeal to you. HoC is character-focused, with a sprawling cast, and a very complex plot, though if something hasn't come up in a while, I make sure to make brief references and reminders when it returns again.

I have been told that rereads feel very different after knowing how the story goes, due to the above.

Here is a brief synopsis of the full story: A Charmander with spotty memory finds himself plunged into a power struggle between gods and those who seek to usurp them. As he interacts with both sides of the argument, he rapidly learns that the gaps in his memory have to do with his old role in the struggle. He remembered old allies and makes new ones while trying to break a stalemate in a power struggle that leaves normal people suffering.

Additionally, here is a synopsis of the beginning of the story: Said Charmander with spotty memory joins a rescue team under the Hearts, Kilo's equivalent of a guild system. Familiar yet with no memory of meeting before, the Charmander, Axew, Chikorita, and Trapinch stumble into a conflict between immortal 'Guardians' of each elemental type, and the commanders of frenzied, mutant Pokemon that plague dungeons and towns alike more and more frequently. Seeking to put an end to the Guardians' suffering in silence, they elect to gather them up to fight back against their hunters.

Feedback preference: As any long-time author will tell you, the earlier chapters are not as well-written. Every few years, I go back and revise the first five or so as a preview of better prose later, but you know how it is. I encourage broader reviews for earlier chapters, and maybe more specific ones for later chapters, if you're already caught up. Read and enjoy! Anything I learn here will go into my next, hopefully much shorter, work.

Alright, here we go again! Let's get into it.

---

🔪 HUNTER, HAUNTED 🔪

What is it? Hunter, Haunted follows the character of Ichiro "Red" Akai, a young serial killer who worships an ancient entity named HELIX. After his latest human sacrifice, however, he discovers the victim has returned from the dead as a yamask. He must hunt her down and destroy her before she has a chance to recover her memories and expose the terrible crime committed against her.

What's the genre? Psychological horror thriller with darkly comedic elements.

How long is it? Around 90k words, completed. It also has an ongoing sequel, The Bringer.

Anything else to know? Yes, the Copperajah in the room. To be perfectly honest, this is Twitch Plays Pokémon fanfiction. It has, however, been written to be readable by a wider audience, and the vast majority of its readers during its lifetime (including its biggest fans!) have had little to no TPP experience. If you find yourself confused by something, though, I'll be glad to explain it, provided it isn't supposed to be a reveal later on.

---

🦑 KRAKEN'S GRASP 🦑
What is it? This is a brand new story I've written across the past few months. If you've heard me talk about "the malamarfic" on Discord, this is the one. It's about a Kalosian Pokémon counselor with psychic powers who gets a new client: an ill-behaving Malamar kept in a Pokémon rehabilitation facility. However, after a sudden change of staff at the facility, a disturbing offer is made to the counselor that she may end up needing to take.

What's the genre? Drama, thriller.

How long is it? Around 18k words, split into six parts. I will upload one chapter of it around every five days during the Blitz.

Anything else to know? I have… qualms about the ending. You'll see when I get there. If you do end up reading that far, I would very much appreciate feedback on it and suggestions for improvement.

---

👼 COR DAEMONIS 😈

What is it? A non-Pokémon original story about a fantastical yet contemporary version of Heaven and Hell. An angel is exiled from Heaven due to his involvement with a rogue organization and placed in a rehabilitation program for demons in Hell. In the program, he's paired up with an abrasive yet attractive demon that he has to learn to work together with as inmates mysteriously begin to go missing.

What's the genre? Fantasy, romance, mystery, drama.

How long is it? 87k or so thus far. Projected to receive 2-3 more chapters before completion.

Anything else to know? Transparently, this is an AU with many of my characters from Hunter, Haunted, but HH is not required reading for this story. This is written with an even wider audience in mind, so asking them to read a Pokémon fanfic first to understand it would be shooting myself in the foot. These characters are also notably different from their HH counterparts in many ways regardless.

Is that everything? Well… I should also mention that I'm having a pretty tough time with this story. I know how it's supposed to end and I only have two or three chapters to go, but I've lost my motivation for it due to perceiving a lot of hard-to-remedy issues in it. The main reason I'm promoting it in this post is that I'm hoping to maybe get a review that would bring back the spark I used to have for this story.

---

Then some oneshots:

THE GAPE 🦷

A short non-pokémon horror story. Strongly recommended for people into body horror. Length: 4.0k words.

HUNTRESS, HAUNTED 💅

An April Fools crackfic that's a gender-swapped AU of Hunter, Haunted. This will be way funnier if you've read HH before it, but I think you can also have a fun time with it regardless. Length: 6.3k words.

JUDGMENT ☸️

A heady and tragic oneshot about an Arcean priest being requested to perform a blessing for a death row inmate at a spectral penitentiary (i.e. a prison for ghost Pokémon). Dropping this one here despite it being an older story since I know many, many new users have joined since this one was first uploaded. I'm still very proud of this one, and I think it's a high quality reading experience. Length: 15k words.

---

That's it for the stories I'm interested in promoting this time around! I have naturally also written many other stories (check my signature, for example) and do appreciate reviews on those as well, but these are the ones that are most relevant right now.

As for review exchanges, I may be interested in them. Approach me using forum PMs or Discord DMs, preferably the latter. I likely won't agree to wordcount exchanges very high, preferring to keep them under 20k.

Thank you for reading, and happy Blitzing!

Do you like the two version exclusive Pokémon professors we got in Scarlet and Violet??
Yes?? Good, because that's pretty much all I've written almost 300k words about!
No?? Good, because in that case, you can read about them suffering, being only sometimes dead, or both!!

Timeslip
Here on Thousands Roads
Rating: 16+ (Contains some light swearing and some mentions of violence and injuries, both for human and Pokemon characters.)
Genre: Trainerfic... kinda...? Let's say it's a "Professorfic" in a way lol Also Romance, and AU
Keywords: AU, Opposites attract, Time travel, Professor Sada and Turo
Lenght: Ongoing chaptered story, almost 300k words and going.
Summary: An AU Where Turo and Sada are actual time travelers from a far off future and past; a futuristic society where energy is no longer a problem, humanity has officially invented time travel and has started to colonize space for Turo, and a Paleolithic-era tribe of hunter-gatherers that has just started to figure out Pokemon domestication for Sada. The fic explores how the two would meet, slowly get to know each other, and if and how all this would excalate and change the plot of Scarlet and Violet when they both end up stranded in 21th century Paldea with no way back to their respective times.
If you like stories about cultural clashes, time travel and/or the good old "opposites attract" trope, consider giving it a shot.
Being an AU (and still technically a Scarlet and Violet *prequel*), it has some references to the Scarlet and Violet plot but can be enjoined even without having played those games. (I've had at least one person enjoy it completely fandom blind as just a time travel romance)

The Imitation Game
Here on Thousands Roads
Rating: 16+ (Mention of death and grief, plus possible existential horror)
Genre: R-romance....? Character Study? Sci-fi...?
Keywords: Exploring consciousness, sad robots, people grieving in totally healthy ways.
Lenght: Ongoing, 4 chapters and 15k.
Summary:
This is *another* Scarlet and Violet AU, but compared to Timeslip, it has HEAVY spoilers in the very premise: what if one of the Paldean Professors (Turo in this case) died much earlier, before Arven is even born, leaving their research partner and other versions professor to grieve by trying to bring them back to life by building an AI of them?
The fic explores how Sada would attempt to do it, and what it would actually mean to try to create an AI that thinks it's human, and how things would spiral out of control from there...
Updates on this one are pretty slow because I usually need to be in a pretty specific headspace to write for it, but progress has been nice! It's definitely one of the trickier things I've written.
It's a character study for both the human professors and their AIs, in a sense, because I still find them some of the accidentally most fascinating (and tragic, for the AIs) characters Game Freak has ever created.

Hello, I'm here now.

Main Fics

What The Gods Gave Me -- 18 chapters, ~70K words
When a common raven gains the form of a god, he seems to be the only one not particularly concerned about that. And he's not the only one the universe has chosen. In their change, they will be forced to find the new meaning of their existence.

A slower, angstier, character-focused story about a group of people and pokemon trying to put up with each other and learning to live with the life they've been given.

Between The Mountains and The Sea -- 16 chapters ~90K words
Seafolk’s guild was not spoken of alongside the greats—even its own members could attest to that. But between a town that hates them and the threat of larger guilds coming to subsume them, they'd better think of some way to pull themselves together or else be dissolved. Fortunately, that’s not Solder’s problem, not when all he needs is to pick up the shattered remains of his memory and move on. Yet things can only get more complicated and it seems that for every reason he has to leave, another tells him to stay.

For if you prefer PMD stories to mainline pokemon fics, though the overall tone is similar. You could also accurately describe this as a slower, angstier fic where a group of pokemon struggle to save their own reputation in a outcast guild as they face the threat of being taken over by their betters.

Short Stuff

A Wonderful Leaf Boat
-- ~10K words

A story about an eevee becoming Latios and dealing with immortality.

Shephard Tones -- ~5K words

Capelin can't say he's happy, but at least his routine is stable. Walk across the coast with Muskellunge--to the good fishing spot--and only return as it starts to get dark. The road is long.

Today, even longer.

Introduction

Greetings all. I specialize in writing about Team Rocket trio (Jessie, James, and Meowth). Currently, I am working on a series titled "Canon Rewrites from Team Rocket Episodes". I have also been writing longfics (on AO3), with two completions up to date.
If you have stories featuring TRio, please do not hesitate to send me a recommendation!
With that set, I will now advertise some of my stories.

Longfic Recommendation: Inclusion - A Christmas of Pokémon

Overview - Inclusion is no more than a tree star. Caught within that world, Pikachu strives to promote inclusion; while Meowth runs away from it, until he no longer can. They both meet new friends, learn different perspectives, and fight to solve a Pokémon catastrophe.
Ultimately, all characters face the question: "What does inclusion truly mean in Christmas?"

Direct Messaging

The following points apply for DMing me:
  • Review Exchange - I am open.
  • Feedback Preferences - I am willing to read any kind of review. Still, if you would rather know my favorite style, DM me.
  • Miscellaneous - Want to discuss topics I did not mention? DM me.

Conclusion

I am eager to participate in the 2025 Blitz event. Aside from the prizes, I wish to meet other writers and form new connections.
Good luck to me and to everyone!

Beasts Like Us (novella-length)

C502BE4E-6B3D-4889-9FED-4A3B51DC6BB6.jpeg

Summary: Glen, an unevolved Machoke and a driver for a Pokemon-run removal company, wants to adopt a Machop to fill the void in his life. The only problem? In order for Glen to officially take him in, he’ll have to introduce him to his boyfriend… who just happens to be human.

I won’t make any bones about this being a Pokemon x human story, but it’s not without a narrative purpose as it’s also the core conflict of this fic, and it’s also a very personal story as it taps into my experiences of being gay, neurodivergent, and not quite feeling like I belong in my own skin.

If you need any more convincing, it’s a deconstruction of that concept, basically exploring the reality of how that relationship would play out even if the two parties are on equal ground, and how throwing a kid in the mix would throw a huge wrench in their whole dynamic. It’s bittersweet, but not without its moments of tenderness and joy.

It’s also short-ish at 30k words long, and 4 chapters (including a bonus chapter).

Gathering Moss (one-shot)

gathering moss moss resized small.png

Summary: Terra is the lone Golurk that manages The Fossil Cafe in their owner’s stead. Even after their latest master’s passing, Terra continues serving humans as they have done for thousands of years. But as their body begins to break down, they start to grapple with their own mortality as the fate of the cafe and the staff who depend on it hangs in the balance.

This story’s a pretty sombre affair, but I guarantee it’s a well-earned one that’s pretty near and dear to my heart in terms of its subject matter. Outside of the contest, I’m curious to see what people on TR think of it; as with a lot of my works, I recommend it to people who enjoy slow-burn fics that focus on Pokémon in the trainerverse rather than humans.

Various one-shots:

Typecast (3k words)

Summary: Garou hopes to get his big acting break as a Lycanroc in the acting world, but when he scares the pants off of his human co-star as the Big, Bad Wolf, he tries to make amends to avoid getting fired.

Nil Admirari (2k words)

Summary: A newly-evolved Hatterene self-isolates in a cave to avoid hurting her team, but when she gets an invite from her trainer to come to his meditation retreat, she musters up the courage to attend and try to find peace.

Godsplintered (2k words)

Summary: A Delphox’s mundane day of translating her species’ writing is shattered when a fragment of Arceus’s crest lands on her manor’s doorstep.

Hi! Do you like Kieran from the S/V DLC? Because if so, I have some Kieran-centric stories I'd love for you to check out!

Finding Strength Through Suffering
~33k words, 5 chapters, complete
Still getting used to the idea that he’s worth something after all, Kieran suddenly winds up captured by an evil team bent on finding and controlling Kitakami’s legendary ogre. He has to fight with all he’s got to keep Ogerpon safe from the team’s clutches – but, is he really strong enough to protect her?

A whumpfic in which I take postgame Kieran and put him through a different kind of Very Bad Time, while using that as an opportunity for further character development and character study in the process. May appeal to general whump enjoyers too, although it's definitely best appreciated with knowledge of Kieran's canon character arc and issues.

Nothing Fickle About Loyalty
~26k words, 3 chapters, complete
As Kieran spirals into self-destructive obsession, one apple dragon remains determined to stand by his trainer, no matter how bad things get… and no matter what his other selves have to say about it.

A story from the perspective of Kieran's Applin/Dipplin/Hydrapple, featuring the not-so-internal conflicts of a multi-headed creature going through the rough time of being this boy's Pokémon throughout his canon arc. May also appeal to general trainerverse Pokémon-POV enjoyers unfamiliar with Kieran, provided you don't mind getting spoiled for the events of the DLC.
