This April Fool's special takes place in between Bound For Trouble and Charizard Chills.
Ah, it's another beautiful day in the Pokemon world. But this isn't just any ordinary day. It's April Fool's Day, which means a perfect opportunity for people to play practical jokes on each other.
"I just love days like this!" cried Lucy. "Oh, Ash is going to be in for some big surprises today!"
"Vee!" Cried Eevee, which meant 'Keep your voice down!'
"Pikachu Pika Pi Pika!" Cried Pikachu, which meant 'Ash is still asleep! You don't want him to hear you!'
"You're right, Pikachu. Otherwise, that would ruin my plan." Said Lucy. "Now, what kind of trick can I play first?" She looked around and saw that not only was Ash still asleep, but Misty and Tracey were also still sleeping. Lucy giggled to herself.
"This is perfect, Eevee." She whispered. "He'll never notice a thing if he's sound asleep like that." She reached into her bag and pulled out some colorful markers.
"Eevee Vee Eee?" asked Eevee, which meant 'What are you going to do with those?'
"You're about to see." Lucy answered. She started drawing scribble marks all over Ash's face.
"Pika Pi!" cried Pikachu, which meant 'Ash isn't going to like this!'
"We'll just see about that, Pikachu." Said Lucy. She then noticed that Ash, Misty and Tracey were starting to stir.
"They're starting to wake up, Eevee." Said Lucy. The two of them hid behind a nearby rock and observed the action.
"What a great sleep!" cried Ash. "I feel as satisfied as a Snorlax when it's had plenty of food." Misty and Tracey started laughing at Ash.
"What's so funny?!" Ash cried.
"There's a little something on your face." Remarked Tracey.
"What about my face?" Ash wondered.
"Here, Ash, look for yourself." Replied Misty. She handed him a mirror, and when Ash saw himself, he nearly flipped.
"What? Why is my face like this?!" he cried. "I bet Jigglypuff came by and did its song again!"
"That's impossible, Ash." Said Misty. "Jigglypuff hasn't set foot on this island at all."
"If Jigglypuff had been here, it would've sang its song, and we haven't heard any singing." Replied Tracey.
"If it wasn't Jigglypuff, then…." Said Ash. Lucy popped out from behind the rock and started laughing hysterically.
"Gotcha, Ash!" she cried.
"What do you mean, got me?!" cried Ash.
"Oh, Ash, you silly old goofball." Said Lucy. "Don't you know what today is?" Ash thought hard to come up with the answer, but he ended up shaking his head.
"It's April Fool's Day today, and boy did I get you good!" cried Lucy. "You thought that the scribbles on your face were the work of Jigglypuff, but I actually made those marks myself!" She continued to laugh, but Ash was seething.
"That's not funny, Lucy!" cried Ash.
"Pika!" cried Pikachu, which meant 'Totally not cool!'
"Oh, and this is only the start of what I have planned for you today!" Lucy added. Ash wanted to say something else, but Lucy had already ran off.
"What could she possibly mean by that?" asked Ash.
"Pika." Answered Pikachu, which meant 'Beats me.'
"I'm as stumped as you are, Ash." Said Tracey.
Later on, Lucy had put together a picnic basket filled with burgers and hot dogs and placed it in the middle of the road.
"Knowing Ash, he won't be able to resist a delicious picnic full of food." Said Lucy. Eevee was about to take a bite, but was stopped.
"Paws off, Eevee!" Cried Lucy. "That food's for Ash, not you!" Eevee gave a sad squeal.
"I'll tell you what, though." Said Lucy. "If we can pull this off, and it works, I'll give you some food later on." Eevee gave a happy squeak at that thought. They hid behind a tree and waited for the target to arrive. Soon, they saw Misty, Ash and Tracey approach.
"Looks like someone threw away a basket filled with perfectly good food." Said Tracey.
"Now who would do something like that?" wondered Misty.
"As long as the food in there is still good, who cares?" said Ash. He and Pikachu started running toward the basket.
"Hold on, Ash!" cried Misty. "Something about that basket looks suspicious!"
"This looks like it could be another Team Rocket trick." Added Tracey.
"Well I don't see Team Rocket anywhere, Tracey." Replied Ash. "Come on, Pikachu, let's dive into this." They opened the basket and Ash's mouth started watering.
"All the foods I love so much are in here!" cried Ash. He was about to take a bite when Misty and Tracey held him off.
"Don't even think about eating any of this without us!" cried Misty.
"Yeah, Ash, it's rude to start eating without us." Said Tracey.
"Pika Pi!" cried Pikachu, which meant 'Don't forget about me!'
"Relax, Pikachu, I would never forget about you." Said Ash. "It's just a shame that Lucy's missing out on this."
"We can save her some leftovers." Said Tracey.
"That's even if there are any leftovers remaining with how much Ash eats." Said Misty. Ash glared at her and bit into one of the hamburgers. But instead of tasting delicious meat, his mouth ended up hitting plastic.
"This is all toy food!" cried Ash.
"If this is somebody's idea of a joke, it's not funny!" cried Misty. Some familiar giggling was heard from behind the tree.
"Oh no." sighed Ash. Lucy and Eevee jumped out and laughed.
"April Fool's!" she cried. "I knew you liked picnics, so I just couldn't resist by taking out the actual food that was in there with fake versions. And you fell for it!"
"It's not nice to play around with food!" cried Misty.
"Pikachu, Thunder Shock her, now!" cried Ash. Pikachu attacked, but Lucy wasn't fazed.
"Those electric attacks aren't going to work on me today, buddy boy!" she cried. She gave Eevee a high five on her paw, and ran off.
"Now I'm worried about what else she might try to pull." Said Ash.
A short time later, Lucy was setting up a pit fall trap on another part of the island.
"If Team Rocket can do this, then so can I." said Lucy.
"Vee!" cried Eevee, which meant 'This isn't a good idea!'
"Of course it is!" cried Lucy. "Ash and I have fallen into a lot of these traps before, but for once, I'm actually going to be on the positive end of this." She finished the trap right as Ash, Misty and Tracey started coming by. Lucy and Eevee quickly went to hide.
"I wonder if there's any other Pokemon around here that I could catch." Said Ash.
"You did have an impressive catch with that giant Rhydon yesterday." Said Misty.
"Yeah, but a Pokemon master has to catch as many Pokemon as he can." Said Ash. They soon approached a certain spot in the ground, and then suddenly, a shaking sound was heard.
"What the?!" cried Ash. He, Misty and Tracey all fell into the hole.
"Ow!" cried Misty.
"Who dug this?!" cried Tracey.
"If it's Team Rocket again…." Muttered Ash.
"Oh, Team Rocket didn't dig this one." Said Lucy.
"No, it can't be!" cried Ash.
"April Fool's!" cried Lucy. "You seriously thought that hole was Team Rocket's handiwork?! You really are dense, Ash." Lucy took off once more, but Ash was now really angry.
"I've had just about enough of her pranks!" he cried. Soon, after Ash, Misty and Tracey had gotten themselves out of the hole, Ash was filling up a jug of water, courtesy of Wartortle's Water Gun attack.
"This ought to teach her a lesson." Said Ash. Once the jug was filled, he placed a lid on it and shook up the bottle really good before placing it in front of the tent that they were sharing. Lucy was starting to come back to the camp site.
"Ash really is a goofball if he fell for three of my pranks already." She said. "I wonder what else I could do to him."
"Vee." Said Eevee, which meant 'Don't you think you should tone it down a little bit?'
"You're right, Eevee." Said Lucy. "He's probably tired of all the jokes by now, anyway." Upon arriving back at the camp site, she found a full jug of water in front of her.
"Come to think of it, I am a bit thirsty." Said Lucy. "Maybe having a drink will help me be able to think clearly about what to do for my next prank." She tried unscrewing the lid that was on the bottle, but it was stuck.
"That's odd." Said Lucy. "Maybe a little more strength will do the trick." After a couple more attempts, she got the lid off, only for water to splash all over her hair.
"Hey!" she cried. "What's the big idea?!" Ash then appeared in front of her.
"April Fool's, Lucy!" he cried. He broke out into hysterical laughter, but unfortunately for him, Lucy was anything but amused.
"ASH KETCHUM! What do you have to say for yourself?!" she cried.
"How do you know that I did that?" Ash yelled. Lucy held up the bottle and pointed out a piece of tape in the middle that had Ash's name written on it.
"Next time you're going to play that kind of trick on me, don't put your name on the prank, you idiot!" she cried. Misty and Tracey came out of the tent.
"Ash, what's going on?" asked Misty.
"He dumped water all over my head, that's what's going on!" cried Lucy. Tracey felt some of Lucy's hair.
"It's still wet." He said. "We need to dry that off." Misty grabbed a towel from her backpack and used it to clear out the wetness.
"Thanks, Misty." Said Lucy. "As for you, Ash, I'm still waiting for an explanation. So start talking!"
"I did it because I was fed up with all the jokes you were playing on me!" cried Ash.
"Yeah, Lucy, that was a little too much." Said Misty.
"You know what, Lucy, sometimes I wish you had never existed in the first place!" cried Ash. Lucy gasped in shock. Pikachu simply shook his head.
"Pika Pi!" he cried, which meant 'He did NOT!'
"How can you even say something like that?!" cried Lucy. "I've put my life on the line for you on multiple occasions during our Pokemon journey, but if this is how you're going to treat me, then maybe I should just go on by myself! Come on, Eevee, let's get away from this inconsiderate piece of trash!" Lucy and Eevee started to walk away.
"Lucy, wait!" cried Ash.
"Forget it, Ash!" cried Lucy. "You're dead to me now!" Ash was left stumped.
"Boy, Pikachu, I really messed up, didn't I?" said Ash.
"Pika?!" replied Pikachu, which meant 'Gee, you think?!'
"She's probably never going to speak to me again." Said Ash.
"That's not true at all." Said Misty. "All Lucy needs is some time to cool off."
"Yeah, I guess you're right." Said Ash. "I think I need to find her and apologize."
"I think you should let her have some time to herself before you do that." Tracey suggested.
Lucy and Eevee had found a quiet spot on the island to themselves.
"Ash thinks he's so great." Lucy muttered. "It's like everything I've done for him doesn't even matter anymore. I've already made up my mind, Eevee. I don't want anything to do with Ash ever again. That means I don't want to see him anymore either."
"Vee!" cried Eevee, which meant 'Don't say that! Ash means well! He just acted without thinking like he always does!'
"That way of thinking is still no excuse." Said Lucy. "As far as I'm concerned, my friendship with him is over!"
"Vee! Eevee!" cried Eevee, which meant 'No! Don't say that! Are you forgetting about all the good times you've had together?' Lucy then started to think about some of the things that she and Ash had endured together. Memories that included them tag teaming to win the Earth Badge at the Viridian City gym, as well as the epic battle they had fought against each other in the finals of the Pokemon League at the Indigo Plateau. After the memory sequence faded, Lucy quickly realized that Eevee was right.
"Deep down, Ash really is a good person." Said Lucy. "I suppose maybe he didn't mean to pull that water prank on me. If anything, I've been more immature than him. He probably won't speak to me again, though."
"Vee." Said Eevee, which meant 'I'm sure he will. But you should apologize to him first.'
"I suppose you're right, Eevee." Said Lucy. "Come on, let's go find him." They started walking down the path.
"Ash!" called Lucy. "Ash, where are you?! I need to talk to you!"
Meanwhile…..
"Lucy!" cried Ash.
"Lucy, where are you?!" cried Misty.
"Pika Pi!" cried Pikachu, which meant 'Lucy, come back!'
"I don't see her anywhere, Tracey." Said Misty.
"I know what might work." Replied Tracey. "Venonat, go!" Venonat materialized.
"Venonat, I need you to track any possible locations on this island for Lucy." Instructed Tracey. Venonat nodded and used the radar function in its eyes.
"I hope Venonat can find Lucy." Said Ash.
"You have to remember that Venonat is one of the best trackers there is." Replied Tracey. "If anyone can find Lucy, Venonat can." Venonat's radar kept working, until it spotted Lucy and Eevee down the pathway.
"Looks like Venonat spotted her." Said Tracey.
"Well then, let's go!" cried Ash. They ran off in their current direction, and in the other direction was Lucy.
"Come on, Ash, don't be this way!" she cried as she and Eevee ran. A little while later, Lucy and Ash both ran into each other.
"Ash/Lucy!" they both cried.
"Listen, I…..." they said.
"No, you go first." Said Lucy.
"I insist." Said Ash. "Ladies first, after all."
"Ash, I wanted to tell you that…" Said Lucy, but before she could continue, a Persian jumped out at her, which frightened her.
"Easy there, Persian." Said Lucy. "Couldn't we work something out?" The Persian shook his head and started to charge at Lucy. She gasped in shock and started to run.
"Ash, help!" she cried.
"Lucy!" cried Ash. "I bet this is another one of your stupid pranks again!"
"Sorry Ash, but I think this time, it's real." Said Misty.
"Pika Pi!" cried Pikachu, which meant 'Lucy!'
"Don't worry, Lucy, I'll save you!" Cried Ash. "Pikachu, use your Thunderbolt attack!" Pikachu attacked, but Persian was still chasing Lucy around, so the attack did nothing. Lucy was then chased up a tree, and now, she was feeling quite scared.
"Ash, please help me!" cried Lucy.
"I'm trying!" cried Ash. "Bulbasaur, I choose you!" Bulbasaur materialized.
"Razor Leaf attack!" cried Ash. Bulbasaur fired a barrage of leaves at Persian, which slowed it down a little bit.
"Wartortle, go!" cried Ash. Wartortle materialized.
"Bubblebeam attack!" cried Ash. Wartortle launched the bubbles, which slowed it down more. Persian turned around and started swiping at Wartortle.
"Persian's Fury Swipes!" cried Misty.
"Hang in there, guys!" cried Ash. "Snorlax, go!" cried Ash. Snorlax materialized.
"Use your Mega Punch, Snorlax!" cried Ash. Snorlax wound up and punched Persian right in its upper body. Once it landed, it was panting heavily.
"Bulbasaur, go for the Sleep Powder!" cried Ash. Bulbasaur spread sleep dust, which stopped Persian in its tracks and sent it to sleep.
"Poke Ball, go!" cried Ash. The ball hit Persian and sucked it inside. The ball wobbled a few times before clicking shut.
"I just caught a Persian!" cried Ash. Lucy jumped down from the tree.
"That was great, Ash!" she cried, and she gave him a big hug and a kiss.
"Ash, I'm sorry for all those jokes I played on you today." Said Lucy.
"Well, to be fair, you did go a little overboard." Said Ash.
"He's right." Said Misty. "How do you think I'd feel if Ash did to me what you did to him?"
"You wouldn't feel very happy, would you?" said Lucy.
"I'd be furious, just like Ash was." Said Misty. "It's one thing to joke around, but today, you took things way too far with Ash!"
"I realize that now, and I'm sorry." Said Lucy. "Can you forgive me, Ash?"
"You're lucky that we're best friends, or else I'd never be able to forgive you." Replied Ash. "I do accept your apology, though. And I'm sorry too for the trick I played on you earlier."
"That's all right, Ash." Said Lucy. "Just promise me one thing, though."
"What's that?" Said Ash.
"DON'T YOU EVER DUMP WATER ON MY HEAD LIKE THAT AGAIN!" cried Lucy. "YOU GOT THAT?!" Ash nodded. These two best friends have certainly learned a valuable lesson today. It's okay to joke around with your friends, just as long as you don't push your luck.
Later…
"Bring Pikachu back here, Lucy!" cried Ash. Lucy's final trick had consisted if her pretending to be part of Team Rocket, and was running around carrying Pikachu, with Ash chasing after her. Lucy let out another giggle.
"April Fool's!" she cried.
"Pika." Pikachu sighed, which meant 'Oh brother.'
"Eevee." Replied Eevee, which meant 'Here we go again.'

"I've put my life on the line for you on multiple occasions during our Pokemon journey, but if this is how you're going to treat me, then maybe I should just go on by myself! Come on, Eevee, let's get away from this inconsiderate piece of trash!" Lucy and Eevee started to walk away.
"Lucy, wait!" cried Ash.
"Forget it, Ash!" cried Lucy. "You're dead to me now!" Ash was left stumped.
"Boy, Pikachu, I really messed up, didn't I?" said Ash.
"Pika?!" replied Pikachu, which meant 'Gee, you think?!'
"She's probably never going to speak to me again." Said Ash.
"That's not true at all." Said Misty. "All Lucy needs is some time to cool off."
"Yeah, I guess you're right." Said Ash. "I think I need to find her and apologize."
"I think you should let her have some time to herself before you do that." Tracey suggested.
Lucy and Eevee had found a quiet spot on the island to themselves.
"Ash thinks he's so great." Lucy muttered. "It's like everything I've done for him doesn't even matter anymore. I've already made up my mind, Eevee. I don't want anything to do with Ash ever again. That means I don't want to see him anymore either."
"Vee!" cried Eevee, which meant 'Don't say that! Ash means well! He just acted without thinking like he always does!'
"That way of thinking is still no excuse." Said Lucy. "As far as I'm concerned, my friendship with him is over!"
"Vee! Eevee!" cried Eevee, which meant 'No! Don't say that! Are you forgetting about all the good times you've had together?' Lucy then started to think about some of the things that she and Ash had endured together. Memories that included them tag teaming to win the Earth Badge at the Viridian City gym, as well as the epic battle they had fought against each other in the finals of the Pokemon League at the Indigo Plateau. After the memory sequence faded, Lucy quickly realized that Eevee was right.
"Deep down, Ash really is a good person." Said Lucy. "I suppose maybe he didn't mean to pull that water prank on me. If anything, I've been more immature than him. He probably won't speak to me again, though."
"Vee." Said Eevee, which meant 'I'm sure he will. But you should apologize to him first.'
"I suppose you're right, Eevee." Said Lucy. "Come on, let's go find him." They started walking down the path.
"Ash!" called Lucy. "Ash, where are you?! I need to talk to you!"
Meanwhile…..
"Lucy!" cried Ash.
"Lucy, where are you?!" cried Misty.
"Pika Pi!" cried Pikachu, which meant 'Lucy, come back!'
"I don't see her anywhere, Tracey." Said Misty.
"I know what might work." Replied Tracey. "Venonat, go!" Venonat materialized.
"Venonat, I need you to track any possible locations on this island for Lucy." Instructed Tracey. Venonat nodded and used the radar function in its eyes.
"I hope Venonat can find Lucy." Said Ash.
"You have to remember that Venonat is one of the best trackers there is." Replied Tracey. "If anyone can find Lucy, Venonat can." Venonat's radar kept working, until it spotted Lucy and Eevee down the pathway.
"Looks like Venonat spotted her." Said Tracey.
"Well then, let's go!" cried Ash. They ran off in their current direction, and in the other direction was Lucy.
"Come on, Ash, don't be this way!" she cried as she and Eevee ran. A little while later, Lucy and Ash both ran into each other.
"Ash/Lucy!" they both cried.
"Listen, I…..." they said.
"No, you go first." Said Lucy.
"I insist." Said Ash. "Ladies first, after all."
"Ash, I wanted to tell you that…" Said Lucy, but before she could continue, a Persian jumped out at her, which frightened her.
"Easy there, Persian." Said Lucy. "Couldn't we work something out?" The Persian shook his head and started to charge at Lucy. She gasped in shock and started to run.
"Ash, help!" she cried.
"Lucy!" cried Ash. "I bet this is another one of your stupid pranks again!"
"Sorry Ash, but I think this time, it's real." Said Misty.
"Pika Pi!" cried Pikachu, which meant 'Lucy!'
"Don't worry, Lucy, I'll save you!" Cried Ash. "Pikachu, use your Thunderbolt attack!" Pikachu attacked, but Persian was still chasing Lucy around, so the attack did nothing. Lucy was then chased up a tree, and now, she was feeling quite scared.
"Ash, please help me!" cried Lucy.
"I'm trying!" cried Ash. "Bulbasaur, I choose you!" Bulbasaur materialized.
"Razor Leaf attack!" cried Ash. Bulbasaur fired a barrage of leaves at Persian, which slowed it down a little bit.
"Wartortle, go!" cried Ash. Wartortle materialized.
"Bubblebeam attack!" cried Ash. Wartortle launched the bubbles, which slowed it down more. Persian turned around and started swiping at Wartortle.
"Persian's Fury Swipes!" cried Misty.
"Hang in there, guys!" cried Ash. "Snorlax, go!" cried Ash. Snorlax materialized.
"Use your Mega Punch, Snorlax!" cried Ash. Snorlax wound up and punched Persian right in its upper body. Once it landed, it was panting heavily.
"Bulbasaur, go for the Sleep Powder!" cried Ash. Bulbasaur spread sleep dust, which stopped Persian in its tracks and sent it to sleep.
"Poke Ball, go!" cried Ash. The ball hit Persian and sucked it inside. The ball wobbled a few times before clicking shut.
"I just caught a Persian!" cried Ash. Lucy jumped down from the tree.
"That was great, Ash!" she cried, and she gave him a big hug and a kiss.
"Ash, I'm sorry for all those jokes I played on you today." Said Lucy.
"Well, to be fair, you did go a little overboard." Said Ash.
"He's right." Said Misty. "How do you think I'd feel if Ash did to me what you did to him?"
"You wouldn't feel very happy, would you?" said Lucy.
"I'd be furious, just like Ash was." Said Misty. "It's one thing to joke around, but today, you took things way too far with Ash!"
"I realize that now, and I'm sorry." Said Lucy. "Can you forgive me, Ash?"
"You're lucky that we're best friends, or else I'd never be able to forgive you." Replied Ash. "I do accept your apology, though. And I'm sorry too for the trick I played on you earlier."
"That's all right, Ash." Said Lucy. "Just promise me one thing, though."
"What's that?" Said Ash.
"DON'T YOU EVER DUMP WATER ON MY HEAD LIKE THAT AGAIN!" cried Lucy. "YOU GOT THAT?!" Ash nodded. These two best friends have certainly learned a valuable lesson today. It's okay to joke around with your friends, just as long as you don't push your luck.
Later…
"Bring Pikachu back here, Lucy!" cried Ash. Lucy's final trick had consisted if her pretending to be part of Team Rocket, and was running around carrying Pikachu, with Ash chasing after her. Lucy let out another giggle.
"April Fool's!" she cried.
"Pika." Pikachu sighed, which meant 'Oh brother.'
"Eevee." Replied Eevee, which meant 'Here we go again.'
